As a mac user, you have to go into it knowing what to expect. I play BG3 both on ps5 and mac. As long as it's not choppy AF I'm ok with it. It's still playable and it's the same story and gameplay. It's like buying a sportsbike because it's fast, and then trying to ride 1000km. Yeah, it will get you there, but it's not designed for that. Just assume your butt's gonna be sore at the end. :)
It runs amazingly on maxed settings for me. (I don't have 4K screen so that's not useful for me) I also have the Pro Max with 64GB of ram though. FSR 1.0 is trash though so keep that off. All forms of FSR 1.0 in bg3 turn the graphics into a blurry fuzzy mess. Keep it off and use TAA
I wonder whether or not my MacBook Air would start burning at some point if I'd try to play this because it has no cooler but it's pretty cool that Baldurs Gate runs so nice on Mac!
I'm at 4:55 currently, and I'm wondering if the screen tearing is going on in the game for you, or if it just happened in the recording and upload, because I haven't seen you react to it yet. Maybe time will tell, we shall see.

There are a few things to consider here. M1 Max in the 14 is going to be hot, first of all, it’s kind of unavoidable. But one thing you can do is cap your frame rate in game to a lower number like 48 or 60, this should take some pressure off the chip and still be a good experience.
FSR stands for FidelityFX Super Resolution, it’s a technology developed by AMD to take an image at a low resolution and upscale it to a higher resolution so you can have higher frame rates on high resolution displays while still having a looking decent image. There are more parts to it in some games, like frame generation, but here it’s just the upscaling.

I think the Pro Max has twice the GPU cores of the Pro? That probably explains that.
