This M1 car raced at Mid-Ohio in it's day. I had the privilege to not only see it, but to hear it. No video can reproduce it's sound. This was one Screaming MoFo. I hate to use that language but it's the best way to describe it to someone that has never heard it live. ANY TIME you have the privileged to see an M1 at full song in anger, NEVER pass it up.
this car is where the "m" tag came from,originally designed by lamborghini,but due to financial problems was passed on to another design house,they made around 400 cars,the road version was a 6 cyl 275 hp engine,whereas the m1 had a 475 hp motor,i had the privilage of upgrading the roll cages in 2 of these cars,both in the epic martini colour scheme,terrific sound,just wish my m73 was as sweet sounding on "cam",lol.
@Testacojones Exactly as ya say, you've seen only one in the States. I've never seen one here in Europe, drivin' that is. Like i said, it was too expensive to produce. For example, the body had to be made in Italy. Maybe that's why the M1 comes close to a DeTomaso Pantera in bodyshape. Both awesome cars and like i said before, put them next to supercars from these days and they'll still stack out.
@Martin280967 What do you mean, they had a small production run. There was a white one driving around in South Florida, the only one I have ever seen in the States.
I've been told this was supposed to be a Lamborghini design but the Germans got impatient, told the Italians auf wiedersehen! and proceeded to build the car themselves. It looks like it was influenced by the Countach but is it true that this was supposed to be a joint project between the two?

The inline 6 of M1 is among the best sounding engines ever. I can only think about one car that may sound better and that is the Quattro s1.
