  • Can you believe this is 100% vegan???
So I love omelettes and while trying to reduce the use of animal products- consuming 3 eggs everyday seems to be not sustainable.
I digged in the internet and tried about 20 different variations until I found this perfect recipe.
You won't believe how tasty it is. You have to try!
    Ingredients:
    1/2 Cup Water
    1/2 Block Tofu
    1/4 Cup Chickpea Flour
    1 1/2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
    1 Tbsp Cornstarch
    1/2 Tsp Salt
    1/2 Tsp Onion Powder
    1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder
    Pinch of Turmeric

Looks delicious! What is the weight/size of your tofu block that you use? There are different sizes and textures of tofu sold in stores.

I made this today and it was delicious! I used Black Salt because I wanted the egg flavour so the texture and taste were spot on!
This recipe will be my new breakfast favourite.

I make a vegan full Irish breakfast and it is lovely but we make scrambled tofu with it but I think I'm gonna have to do this.

If you want it tastes more like the real thing (omelette) you may try to add some mustard paste in it

    Disaster! Help!!
I couldn’t get the batter to dry. It cooked for almost 15 minutes because it was so wet. In the end I tried to scramble it because it was starting to burn on the bottom even though it never dried. 😞

You could have transferred it to an oven safe dish and bake it (starting out at lower temperature to get a feel of how fast it's cooking and adjust accordingly) or you could have let cool and added it back to the blender with more chickpea flour.
      Better luck next time :)

You'll never get the same consistency or texture as egg if you keep using ingredients that have starch in them, like chickpea flour. Try using isolated soy or pea protein combined with a fat like coconut oil, and possibly some emulsifier like soy lecithin. Then you might start seeing the actual consistency of eggs.

How do u substitute the pea protein

    • @hoon_sol
      @hoon_sol 4 місяці тому

      @@salvecarmelapoche2078:
The entire point is that you need some sort of isolated protein powder if you want to emulate eggs, because otherwise you're going to get a lot of starch in there, which will completely mess up the consistency.
So what can you substitute pea protein for? That would have to be some other protein powder, but if you're going to buy protein powder in the first place, why not go for pea protein powder? You can try using soy protein isolate instead, or some other powder, but keep in mind that solubility is also key, because you want to emulsify the protein with the fat to get the consistency of egg.
And as for the fatty portion, you can probably try a mix of coconut oil and olive oil. Add a very slight pinch of black salt, and you should be getting something relatively similar in taste. If you have the option you can also try adding in some natural xanthophylls too, like powdered marigold extract, which is what gives egg yolks their yellow-orange hue.

Why using these inconsistent measurements??? How much is half a block of tofu? I have 450g blocks, 200g blocks and 300g blocks..
    why not using gramm??
And a litlle tip is just to blend everything except the tofu, then crumble it in and whisk it together..the texture at the end will be more fluffy like an omelette and not like a pancake!
