Maude was killed out of spite. The writers have regretted killing her ever since. It took a very long time for them to find ned a new partner. He was much better with Maude than without.
Personally I never got why they just didn't make Maude a background character until they got the situation worked out because stories revolving around Ned being single was a mixed bag. I personally was not a fan of how she was killed off and saw it was really out of place.
Well, Maude was very spiteful as well. Even worse than that, she is very judgmental of others with her speech.
South Park hasn’t been the same without Chef, but I get why it happened

I'll agree with you on mod Flanders but really, I think Dr Nick's death from The Simpsons movie was pretty devastating as well since everybody loved Dr nick. Bye everybody

@@anonymouspatriotnetwork2740 Nah, Agnes Skinner at least has some common sense, and is widely entertaining, compared to most other characters. Heck at the time, I would’ve been equally satisfied to see Luann Van Houten, Milhouse’s Mother, get written off instead.

Trey Parker apparently regretted the way they killed Chef after he found out that his VA was forced to leave by the church of Scientology
Screw scientology.
Trey Parker has done that a lot. I saw another video where either Trey or Matt, or both, did something impulsive and for a show that “never apologizes” they issue far more apologies than you think

I still haven't gotten over Maude's death, and Edna's was difficult as well.
Mrs. Krabappel’s laugh was the only thing I didn’t like about her. Other than that, I’m over her passing.

Well, it was kind of...expected? When you're on a show that satirizes all religions and suddenly you say your religion should be untouchable.

NO ONE is going to replace isaac hayes as chef. there is no one more fitting for the role of chef than that wonderful singer.

Isaac is as much Chef as Dan Castellaneta is Homer Simpson. You don’t recast that kind of performance.
Spite. But they regret it later when Hayes’ son gave details after his death that the church of Scientology was being way more sensitive and controlling than we first believed.
They should never have tried to spin off "All in the Family." Although Edith's death was sad, as was Gloria and Mike splitting up, it just wasn't the same without them.
_All in the Family_ had like six or seven spinoffs. The most popular of which were _Maude_ (who was Edith Bunker's cousin), _Good Times_ (Florida Evans was Maude's maid), and _The Jeffersons_ (who were the Bunker's neighbors before "movin' on up to the East Side").
What about Selma the bailiff in Night Court? The actress passed away from lung cancer in 1985 after filming season 2, and they replaced her character with a similar acting character played by Florence Halop who also died of cancer in 1986, shortly after completing season 3.
The irony is they didn't even need to kill off Col. Blake on M.A.S.H. because they already had a way for him to leave the show. He got sent home. So killing him off on top of that always seemed unnecessarily cruel to me.
I don't mind. First, it was during a war, so it didn't seem far fetched. Also, it guarantees no come back
It was a backhanded slap at McLean for believing himself more important than the show. He believed he was meant for bigger and better than being a part of an ensemble cast. So he was bad mouthing on his way out, and the show runners wanted to plant the dagger deep as a reminder to him in the future about getting an overinflated head again. And it could have all been moot, if he had actually went on to bigger and better, but it just wasn't in the cards.

Imagine Tuco Salamanca’s potential if they hadn’t done away with him early in _Breaking Bad_ Season 2.
His potential was revealed in Better Call Saul. He was too much of a hot head for his own good. Lalo was the real force in that family.
Fun Fact: the 6th doctor was originally meant to wear a leather jacket much like the 9th doctor before donning the patchwork costume he had on during his time on the show.

I think that one was mentioned already in a video, it was under the "characters that were killed off due to the actual actors passing" or something like that

Colin Baker really was done wrong by the BBC, and I say this as a lifelong Who fan.
Josh Eriksson, the Bullock boy from Deadwood, was killed off because his mom was difficult on set. One day David Milch had had enough and flipped the entire season/show on its head.
There seems to be more drama off screen than on screen and I’m beginning to realise that being a TV actor is not as glamorous a gig as it seems to be

Crosby wasn't on the show very long, plus they brought her back in later seasons and the finale. Farrell was on DS9 up to the end of Season 6.
Diane Muldaur who played Rosalind Shay on L.A. Law. Supposedly they killed her off by dropping her down an elevator shaft after she asked for a raise.

I loved it. I hate how the character was resurrected. My favourite episode is when Brian won't pay Stewie his money. Then Stewie beats the crap out of Brian

I worked on Vikings for about five years. There's a couple of characters from that show who were suddenly written out, one at their own request because he just didn't want to be an actor anymore, and another because he couldn't overcome addiction issues. Fans might be able to guess who they are but both exits were pretty jarring.

If rumour is to be believed, Hayes suffered a debilitating stroke around the time of this fallout and his press releases were worded by family or people close to him.

It's been revealed that Hayes never said that, he had suffered a stroke and the Church were speaking for him as it wasn't in his power to stop them.

Jadzia Dax's death was the first and only time I have bawled over someone's onscreen death. What was even more ruthless is that she and Worf were trying to have a baby and she mentioned this in her dying words. Awful!
Ecko was not the smartest move the character could have been so much more.

You should have also mentioned the First Doctor from Doctor Who actor William Hartnell became too unwell suffering from a breathing condition and also in the early stages of dementia lashing out at cast and crew and becoming difficult to work with in the end they wanted the show to go on so they came up with something that would keep the show going to the is very day. Of course, the term regeneration would not be a word used until the end of The Third Doctor's era, and other actors would leave due to production problems Jon Pertwee because he lost his good friend Roger del Gardo who played the Doctor's frenemy The Master and things not feeling the same, Tom Baker due to his messy divorce with co-star Lalla Ward and having creative differences with the new producer of that time, and Christopher Eccleston for not getting along with showrunner Russell T Davies and producer has gone to say that the only way he'd ever return to the show is they are not involved with the show.
I wasn't aware that was some bad blood between Terry Farrell and Rick Berman. All I knew at the time was that she left DS9 to work on Becker.
Which was kind of a hot mess of a show. At least I thought so

1st rat out of the bag: ECKO. Having the smoke monster kill him also jacked up the storyline because it wasn't really supposed to be able to do that. Seriously - the title was LOST and they were LOST on an island. He could have just wandered off. He could have fallen into a pit.

There was "Dead Like Me" where Rube/ "Mandy Pintkinwent" to went to CSI.

I marathoned all of Cheers a few years ago, amazing show. Anyway, up until I found out about Eddie being written out because of the radio comments, my impression was that he was going to be a short term character (kind of like Robin was among others.) Looking at Carla’s luck and just having several children, it seemed fitting. I’d have Been very curious to see how the show would turn out had Eddie remained longer.

Got your info wrong on Terry Farrel/Jadzia Dax. It's true she wanted her character and work load reduced but, in the actress' own words, the execs behind Deep Space 9 kept bugging her about her decision, they were trying to actually get her to change her mind. She ultimately said no so the character's death was literally the result of the actress' choice and no one else's.

A couple of characters who weren't on the list who come to mind are Prue Halliwell from Charmed and Special Agent Caitlin "Kate" Todd from NCIS.

Victor Garber also lives in Chester, New York which is about 45 minutes north of New York city. I used to see him all the time when he would come to a store I worked at. He probably preferred the stage because there's more theaters in NYC and it allowed him to be home every night and not have to fly out to LA for a tv show.

Maude's death was difficult to accept. I remember watching that episode for the first time thinking, she will be hanging on to something or get caught in a net. I felt Ned's pain as he tried to move on without her. The show has not been the same since. Ms. Krabapple was difficult too. Deep down I believe she wanted to help Bart but was pressured by the staff and the school board to treat Bart as though he is nothing but a trouble maker.

Collin Baker was a shout but he managed to get three seasons as the doctor.
Christopher Eccleston despite bringing Doctor Who into the 21st century only managed one season before being killed off. It has never really been explained exactly why but I believe it wasn't pretty.

the actress who played Linda Reagan in "Blue Bloods" was killed off because she wanted to do something else.
and idk if this would could since he did come back, but James Best left "The Dukes of Hazzard" (and Ben Jones left as well and also came back) because of conditions from behind the scenes, not having a dressing room and stuff. And Sonny Shroyer left when his character got a spin off show but then came back when it got cancelled after one season.

What's even more Comically Insulting is that the way Charlie Sheen's Character was Killed off was Stupidly Comical Via a Piano-Drop.
That Piano-Drop was Funny yet Insulting at the same time due to Charlie Sheen's Personal Struggles.
Basically all of the main Lost tailees were killed off for production reasons. Ana Lucia & Libby were reportedly written out due to bad behavior off screen.
I’ve only seen Lost, The Simpsons, and that South Park episode I might have seen clips more than the entire thing.
Honestly, the delay of the 21st season of NCIS because of the Hollywood strikes last year should be counted. David McCallum died before anything could even be written for that season. That’s why they had that tribute episode.
And, before y’all go after me with the “Oh, but there’s a list for that,” that video was made before he died.
The west wing had to completely rewrite how they ended the series after John Spencer’s untimely death. That was worthy of this list for sure
Stevenson was so dang perfect as Blake... And the same thing happened with 'Trapper John', the actor not enjoying playing second fiddle to Hawkeye (he wasn't killed off though)

1:52 - John Amos’ character’s name on Good Times was James, not John.
This was a missed opportunity to do Lou Rodriguez from Miami Vice.
The Roseanne Conner death seemed pre-orchestrated. I don't know if it was a plan with Roseanne or if they blindsided her to get her off the show. I do find it strange that many of the aspects of the original show from the 90's, has been recreated just one generation down. Darlene is the new Roseanne character, Becky is now Jackie, Jackie is now her mother, Darlene's kids are the new Darlene and Becky/DJ. Darlene's husband is the new Dan, DJ is essentially missing as (Roseanne and Jackie didn't have a sibling) while Dan is still Dan. And the show is produced by Sarah Gilbert's production company, so in a sense she has usurped the throne and stolen the show.

Sliders was great TV and was my favorite show back in the day. It started getting bad at it's forth season and was absolutely unwatchable at its fifth, it was terrible. I laughed all the way to the Television to turn it off when the guy said "I'm Quinn Malory". I wish we would get a reboot with the original cast.
Shannen Dougherty's character on Charmed was killed off due to conflicts off screen....
