I am Iranian. In Iran you have coffee houses, in every corner of every town. They are called coffee house but non of them serve coffee, they all serve tea. It seems coffee came first and tea afterwards took control. I said this to say we didn't drink coffee back in 1970s, only tea. Today the situation is different. My fist and only experience with Armenian coffee comes from an Armenian lady who used to do Tasseography, that is fortune-telling by coffee. I was may be 17 and still, after 40 years, I remember that nice old lady with her beautiful Armenian accent, speaking Persian. The Tasseography was the aim of going to her shop but I notices her passion and care for the coffee as well, It was an excellent experience, thank you for the video.
Thanks for the tips for making the Armenian coffee...I tried making it with our expesso coffee for our Cuban expresso maker which is a finely ground coffee (my husband is Cuban who really loves his coffee)...but it really tastes good done the Armenian way too...it was not as strong as the Cuban expresso so I can have a bigger cup of it...although I am Armenian we never drank Armenian coffee at home ....you are so right about the Russian chocolates they are excellent.🍵 Thank you.
Thank you so much for this recipe! My mother used to make coffee this way when i would come and visit her however she has gotten sick and I haven't been able to see her since the pandemic; I miss this and it is reassuring that there is someone to tell me how to make it. Thank you!
Hi you have a lovely kitchen with thr pomegranates. Armenia is beautiful & memorable bought my metal coffee pot from vernissage near the square. Armenian people are really good too.
yaheloo9 thank you so much! Many years ago we used to owe a little boutique where we sold different kind of porcelain and china. We'd get those from different wholesalers .
Great video! What brand of coffee? Can I buy the coffee from any store? Do a video on your childhood chocolates. Where to buy. I'm mexican and I loved the armenian coffee when I tried it from our neighbors..
I love your channel and the foods that you cook please continue but also would you explain to me is there a significance at the end where you swirl the coffee cup and pour the grinds on to the saucer and put the cup upside down does this mean something in particular
Live on coffee and have cut down on sugar for fear that they would charge me double 😂 Miss the old time perculators but have to ask what about the coffee grinds with the way you prepare it?
Where can you buy jazve? Is there a Armenian shop in the los Angeles county area? Or is it better to just buy from Amazon? And does it need to be brass or copper metal?
Forgive my ignorance, but what happens to the grounds? How does the coffee not need to be strained? Do the grounds just melt into the water? It looks delicious by the way!

Why? It's part of their culture that is shared with Turks, and they didn't want to associate it with the people that committed a genocide against them. Calling it Armenian coffee is completely justified.

Since I saw your way of making coffee, I have been doing it that way, instead of boiling water first. And surely I like it more! Thank you :)

Здравствуйте, скажите какие сорта кофе вы используете. Если я правильно понял, то вы используете 2 вида кофе и смешиваете их?
dark roast and medium roast. это как бы темный кофе (сильно поджареный) и средний, но самое главное чтобы он был сильно измельчен, выглядил как мука
спасибо)
Forgive my ignorance, but what happens to the grounds? How does the coffee not need to be strained? Do the grounds just melt into the water? It looks delicious by the way!
The grounds just settle to the bottom of the cup.
Thanks for the reply!
You are welcome, Katie! :)
And you don't drink that bottom part but you can turn the cup upside down, let it dry up and read the cup- fortune telling )
Ill watch your cup my beautiful sis with beautiful kids
So you don't filter the coffee. ?
No

Now I feel like an idiot: I went to a market, asked for Armenian coffee (dark), but the cashier asked if I wanted mixed light and dark. . .that's why.
Armenian coffee means making coffee Armenian way ))
What kind of coffee beans is it? Ive seen when i buy it, it says "armenian half and half"
I buy it ground, I'm sure from regular coffee bean, half & half is the right one , Colombian kind is the best:)
Where do you buy your coffee and/or what is the brand name?
"Armenian coffee" 😂👏 I think Puskin's statement about Armenians can be justified!
Why? It's part of their culture that is shared with Turks, and they didn't want to associate it with the people that committed a genocide against them. Calling it Armenian coffee is completely justified.
Let me know if you are not married or attached 💚
