The bus stop for the randalls island shelter is on 125th Lexington. The methadone clinic is on 128th park ave. So its just a hang out all day until they can get back on the bus to the shelter. This has been going on for decades. Now its an issue because the Whitey’s are moving to the east side.

Dear Lisa, Excellent report. I pray NYPD & the other agencies follow through with this plan. The situation in East Harlem is critical.. Last Friday, as a passenger in a cab from Wash Hghts riding down Lexington Ave, I was in total shock! From 131 down to 110th St, it was horrible, awful & frightening. I lived through the worse in the 70's when FDNY would saw the roofs off the burning tenements let flames out. These are wore times. Upon my arrival home, I locked my door and decided I would not go out at night. My thoughts, " It's time to get the hell outa Dodge!". 🙏🐔💯💯🚖💃🥰✈️

Thank you for shining a light on this. I live in East Harlem and it is utterly disheartening how this area has been abandoned. The oversaturation of drug programs is horrible and unfair. Most drug addicts are NOT from the area. The mayor could care less about the impact and that businesses like Target left. Instead he joined Target for a ribbon cutting ceremony in union square right after. The community board for the area sells out for the highest bidders and for their own interests. Former representatives like Veritas are still interfering to the detrinent of the community and their own personal gains. Thank you to NYPD for caring about the residents in East Harlem since everyone else could give two shits.

Nah they need to start at 125th and Lenox first all the way down to Lexington. It’s so crazy how you see so many cops in midtown, but none in east harlem. You’ll see all the cops by Columbia college, but none in the area they say they are trying to fix. All the trash everywhere in Harlem on the ground, but all of midtown there is minimal to no trash. They don’t care about Harlem this is just a report to make you think they do.

  • @Dave....

I've lived in a lot of shitty neighborhoods in NYC thru out my years. But with living in Harlem the past couple of years. I was shocked to experience more crazy shit than my years living out in East New York. The homeless problem is just insane up here. Like it's normal to see homeless in Midtown NYC. But it's crazy how you can be bothered by homeless literally anywhere in Harlem.
Also a lot of mentally ill problems up here. But besides that Harlem does have a lot of rich history, a lot of great restaurants and things to do. It's also still gentrified but it's also still very ghetto at the same time. Only place in NYC I've lived where I see people still sell drugs on the corner or stoop likes it's 1995. But then around that corner you can go get a gluten free bagel with a $8 latte from a cozy cafe.

It's a dumping ground for druggies, crazies, the only bus station to Rikers Island, mental health facilities, methadone and heroine addicts acceptance and accommodation centers, prostitution ( though the prostitution level is not as bad or TOLERATED as in Jackson Heights Queens, maybe because of the racial demographics that's over there) etc from all races and walks of life!
Fox News just needed to report on something that will NEVER HAPPEN!!😢
Proof: When Gulliani was the mayor, he breathtakingly cleaned up Times Square (also, another dumping ground at the time). Within the first few months, he was in office.
Once again, that area is a PERMANENT DUMPING GROUND for the worse of the worse!! PERIOD

Great report-I'm sure the long version would show more of what's going on to fix. Next Lisa please please 149th and Third Ave. The C in COPS stands for Community. We need our officers to be part of the community again. I use to take kids on trips to Randall's Island and I was always 10x over protective crossing 125th to get on the M35 bus where we had to hope there was no one coming going or coming from Wards island. 125th hand became a hub for drugs and crime. until you can cut off the access- you'll always have those problems. I use to sit on a panel called Forward South Bronx collation. I would shoutout so many ideas on how police can better serve our communities. one of them was placing NYC command outpost in unused store fronts. They would wear the community affairs uniforms, residents would know them by first and last name. Secondly allow the people to vote on it- put it in a bill and let the people of particularly areas vote on it.

About 20 years ago I can't believe it's been that long I was in a housing group and I was the minority if you get my drift? They were upset that the rents were going up and I had the stupid idea of opening my mouth and saying well when a place of living becomes sought after then your rents are going to go up. I got well maybe from your perspective being that you're from Rye New York I said no you need to change your perspective because now that nice things are coming to your area the rents are going to go up you have to change your perspective they didn't say a word and now that they had nice things they're destroying it.

Increase the security efforts along many streets not just here, many are like this. Please clean up around 103rd especially so many resident steal and cause issues when caught and told "not to steal" and even get NYCHA involved with some kinda effort of if they steal from a business their rent goes up or something as they don't listen to simple reasoning.
And issues with homeless i dealt with too many and even fought a homeless person got annoyed they came to my job for hand outs when we ain't a charity EPIC ADAMS ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING! cops never arrested any i gave photos of too most who live in the area .... wonder why.

The police are not your friends. They are out to get you. Not help you. I’ve heard horror stories of people going to the cops for help only for them to find themselves in a cell for the night.
