Microsoft Surface Pro Copilot+: Slimmer bezels and AI smarts

  • Microsoft's new Surface Pro, its first hybrid Copilot+ PC tablet, doesn't look much different than its predecessors. It's still a sleek and sturdy tablet with a kickstand. But the screen looks a bit more impressive, thanks to slimmer bezels, and it's potentially more useful on the go when paired with the $350 Surface Pro Flex keyboard, which lets you type wirelessly. As a Copilot+ AI PC though, its true value lies under the hood, thanks to a 45TOPS neural processing unit in Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips.

I would say that wireless connectivity and portability are crucial for modern individuals. I tend to purchase portable products that make it easier for me to work or write on the go, making this a highly useful product.

Qualcomm submitting Linux support to the Linux kernel for the X Elite/Plus chips means these devices should run Linux out of the box beautifully

The surface pro design with kick stand is what Apple ipad lacks and hence has come up with a complicated magic keyboard (kbd) which will also act as a stand, in process making it heavier. The correct comparison is between Apple magic folio ($249) and Microsoft flex kbd ($350). This is much larger track pad with haptic feedback and pencil storage cum charging slot right on the kbg. Kbd can be used while detached from the Surface Pro. Apple magic folio lacks all these features. 🙂

If Windows on ARM really works out and if all OEMs jump on the band wagon, the credit for pushing them transition over to ARM architecture goes to Apple. Apple's M series processors really changed the perspective. And they beat the hell out of these OEMs especially in performance per watt for laptops.

Microsoft's *NPU* is a Game Changer for us!! Here we were trying to figure out how we could afford 50,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPU's @ $40,000 each in order to train our upcoming *14 **_Trillion_** parameter* model, and along comes Microsoft to the rescue. If Microsoft says these NPU's are "up to 100x as efficient[2] for running AI Workloads..." Why _Wouldn't_ we beleive them?? We can now purchase these Copilot+ PC's - with the *NPU's* built-in - at a 98% DISCOUNT compared to Nvidia GPU's to train our model, and get the rest of the computer too boot!
This IS an "Incredible Value". Thanks Microsoft!
