As always…. Andrew delivers the most concise and fast review for every device known to humans.
The type cover plus slim pen isn’t too outrageously priced compared to Apple’s keyboard and pencil.
Perhaps there will be soon cheaper 3rd party options?
What’s Microsoft smoking with the $450 keyboard?
It's 350$, if I'm not mistaken. But yeah, that's nonsense
450 is with the pen
They're smoking Apple's stash.
Same thing Apple is smoking only better...
@@topmech71Apple is inhaling someone's fart, still offers Wifi 6E, removed one camera lens, undermined performance of lower variants by knocking off 1 performance core, giving less RAM to entry level, putting in bad speakers. What else they can rip off their buyers charging premium for their products, not even offering power adapters?
I was more than a minute in the video and was waiting for you to say "COMING UP"😂 I thought you missed but @1:22 😊
The keyboard in my opinion is insanely priced, sadly any one who has used a Surface pro will know you need the keyboard if using it for business whilst travelling.
I think I can give them a small allowance if their mission is still to be the halo line of the pc industry instead of a leading consumer brand. Still, it wouldn't hurt for them to be a bit more accessible pricing wise over waiting for other manufacturers to fill that gulf in pricing.
Apple charges $200 more for the Magic Keyboard (13 inch) and the Apple Pencil.
They give so much keyboard option that's compatible from previous surface pro. Perhaps, you can go with the basic $100+ basic surface pro type cover.
Buy on what you can afford. Stop moaning like a poor guy trying to look rich.
aparently you can use the old one (they should still sell it) - at least thats what I heard...
You have a lot of options for keyboards and pens. You can use an old keyboard or pen from a previous Surface Pro. You can get the $279 keyboard with slim pen, the $139 keyboard only, the $179 keyboard with pen storage, or the new flex keyboard and pen for $449, or the flex keyboard without pen for $349. And you have the previous generation pens, third party pens, and third party keyboards as well.
The new magic keyboard for iPad Pro is $349 and it wobbles like crazy (see lots of UA-cam videos). And the Pencil is $129. $349 + 129 = $478. Last time I checked, $478 is more than $449.
I ordered one of these slim 7x with 1tb as well. Excited to see it. It was one of the new laptops with a haptic trackpad
I think AI contained in certain apps to help things in those apps seems cool... system level AI that can be looking at everything going on seems... like a privacy problem.
Have you heard about MSFT's upcoming "recall" AI feature? That will ruin your privacy for sure
@@meal_team_six yeah, that one looks like a problem
The laptop industry is getting very interesting indeed! So much new stuff to look forward too and no one seems to do it better than Andrew Marc David!! This man works awfully hard to keep his subscribers informed regarding new technologies in the PC world! Awesome job Andrew!! 👍😁
More interesting indeed. As a computer engineer, the decade when Intel dominated was awful.
Thanks Rafael!
Is linux compatible?
🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
Not for Apple. They sell basically the same 2013 retina version with changes in dimensions and with the arm Silicon, which doesn't support native boot install of windows or linux
Until you mentioned it, I was under the impression that the Surface Laptops also came with OLED screens. Thank you for mentioning that important detail.
Great video as always Andrew. I do think the Snapdragon Elite chips have serious potential, especially in power efficiency domain. On a side note, what is your opinion on HP rebranding it's PC lineup? It sure is leaner now but earlier naming worked as well for me. What's your take?
Looking forward to see if Intel's Lunar Lake CPUs actually make Qualcomm's CPUs look like a nonstarter due to getting ARM-like efficiency.
That the Surface Laptop is an IPS screen is the biggest disqualifier. I am looking for another brand then.
Is OLED better than IPS display
I think the edge should be interesting since it's slim and light with the most powerful snapdragon elite processor.
Assuming there will be the usual discounts after a few months, I think the prices are fine.
The most battery efficient and AI driven laptop wars continue. Currently for battery life:
1) M chip Macbooks Pros
2) Qualcomm X Elite
3) AMD Ryzen 8000s series.
4) Intel Ultra 7
I'm waiting for a lower end cheap, light, battery efficient ARM based windows laptop for mobile purposes and normal every day tasks. I have a more powerful desktop which will remain x86 based for all the real heavy lifting. Hopefully we see cheaper options soon.
The SQ3 chip seemed underutilized, maybe they should place those in less expensive laptops.
I absolutely hate apple, but hearing that Microsoft wants to start charging a subscription fee for future versions of Windows makes me want to switch to linux.
If they do that it's over.
@@SomeOne-p6f Yes ! I'll never paid for that.
@@SomeOne-p6f fr. It is definitely over. I just wouldn't update since they still support legacy hardware and software
subscription? would hypothesize that if it happened it would have windows take it back eventually.
@@innosanto You would think so. At the moment I see Linux as a box of frogs, Apple as a cult and Windows as the only option left.
Unlike most reviewers, you bring it to us straight with no useless buildup. I like this review of the new Surface changes. I'm not sure if I'm ready to get a new Surface yet, but this is a great informative video.
Great points Andrew. One of the most genuine and honest reviewer. Thank you! Coming up!
Much appreciated!
Looking forward to AM's review of MSFT Surface Laptop, specially the thermal and fan noise. Let's go!
I preordered the Surface Pro OLED 16GB/512GB version for $1349 + tax! can't wait!
Overall, I am very excited about finally having high-performance ARM processors for Windows laptops that can match or exceed the Apple M-series processors. Fast processing + long battery life is the holy grail in laptops, and it's also great for competition in the CPU space, since now AMD and Intel are going to have to work harder to offer great SoCs for laptops.
But given its past failures, Microsoft and Qualcomm really have to show they can put their money where their mouth is in terms of performance and battery life.
Otherwise, their credibility may be irreparably harmed.
You should order xps 13 with oled from best buy and snapdragon 80 compare to mac book air.
The typecover with detachable usable keyboard and kickstand for the screen is the best design imho for 2-in-1s. A bit disappointing however that MS is learning from Apple, the clasic sales technique of Proportionality: Buy Big Item then requires Small Item Accessories that are expensive but digestable after the price of the big item already bought or put into the shopping cart.
Still this ushers in a new era of competition in this form factor space of 2-in-1s which is brilliant news for innovation and maybe pricing going forwards.
I can't believe they didn't reduce the size of those bezels. The new keyboard is really nice but with a ridiculous price tag.
Interested in the graphics performance on those Snapdragon X laptops...
Is CoPilot seeing and copying what is being done on the computer it is installed on? Is CoPilot able to send that information from the computer to Microsoft?
I have not used Windows in almost 20y. Only Linux and macos for me. I think these ARM chips are really great, and all these Windows IA in your face and privacy 0 is also great. Many people will be switching to Linux when they are forced to move to Win 12.
I do not understand how people can trust MS with not just their data, but also now with all their activity.
Companies and people worried about IP and corporate security should be running away from these features...
not everyone is paranoid like you
@@_Digitalguy lol exactly. Linux users fail to realize that most persons don't care about privacy, hence the explosion and popularity of social media. People WANT to be seen and heard, lol. Now I don't fall into that category of users, but yeah, Linux will never become mainstream for the average user.
I always keep the keyboard on my Pro 9 apart from when drawing, when I don't need it.
Will you still need to pay $20 for copilot pro subscription on these copilot PCs?
We'll see when you get an extended review how these Surface laptops are with the Snapdragon.
Usually Microsoft charges a premium for these laptops, so they have to be good to justify it.
The have a better design overall, and better materials (considering also gorilla glass). In addition they should be the first to receive Windows 12 when it will be released
I'd like samsung galaxy Tab S9 ultra with SD x elite processor running windows 11. That would be a cool product
Agree, but windows would make it a worse product. Use a Surface pro and S9 ultra side by side and notice how fluid it is to use it versus the Surface is despite the Surface being more powerful.
Can we be able to swipe the SSD again for this new surface pro 11 ? Arm doesn't is a probleme to do it ?
Curious about this as well....
Sati said he used the Windows folding phone too and that’s dead.
Are you sure the laptop is not OLED? Other sources say it has OLED technology in it
Only the high end config is oled
Can it run Premiere pro, editing video in 4K, 10-bit, 4:2:2 XF-AVC like the Apple M3 can with two screens connected, then the price doesent matter.
With so many laptops coming in, will you release reviews in one batch (with a comparison between them), or release reviews one model at a time as you finish evaluating each model?
I will try to roll these out as soon as they come in. I will do an aggregated video and individual reviews as well.
@@andrewmarcdavid That would be great. Actually I am most interested not in comparing those models to each other, but comparing the first one to Intel. AMD and Apple.
I love this golden colour, i think i have to travel to america and buy there for 999$ 😂
Great channel :) ARM is the future, but Microsoft may have some problem with 99% of the software. Maybe it is worth checking if any of the old software works well with new Surfaces?
I'm sticking with my Robo & Kala unless you confirm that the Surface Pro 11 devices basically have no fan noise for casual computing. 🤣
Perhaps I'm unreasonable, but for me this is the acceptable standard for a tablet unless I'm exporting 4k video, 3d modeling, gaming, etc.
I just wish Microsoft would implement AI the way Samsung did. It should be there but not front and centre. And because of "Recall".. I think it should be mandatory that all Copilot+ PCs (Laptops) should should have a base model with 2TB. Pheeew!
Will you be gettint the new hp omnibook as well?
Yes
I'm confused. Microsoft touts "all day battery life". Reading the specs, however...
* For SP9, MS suggests 15.5 hours in typical use,
* For SP10, the number is 19 hours.
* For SP11, 14 hours *video playback*.
This is horribly messy information.
Two other gripes on SP11.
* WHAT? Max 1TB SSD?
* What?? Max 32 GB RAM?
Finally... MS software annoyances:
* Using Edge, I specify the URL to my national Microsoft shop. No luck. Edge, in its infinite wisdom, thinks I don't know what I do, so Edge redirects me to the Microsoft URL in Spain where I'm currently on vacation. So no chance to check prices, availability, etc in my home country...
* [And who in Microsoft had the "brilliant" idea of locking App UI language to the language of the keyboard?? Instead of the logical thing, which is to lock it to the Windows UI language? I use US English Windows UI language for job reasons, but a national keyboard for more easily typing non-English letters.]
a day has 9 hours ...
Im just disappointed there isn’t a fanless Surface Pro OLED Elite Plus/X. Now it makes sense why this laptops are better than a MacBook Air M3
Will there be snapdragon 2 in 1 laptops?
How come those Microsoft laptops or surface don’t last nearly as long as an Apple laptop?
Your new video cam has great resolution and depth , looks great 👍👍👍💯
Thanks, Andrew, for the overview of the Microsoft Co Pilot Plus. I did look at the website and watched the replay of the launch, as you said, the questions outweigh the answers. The Snapdragon X Elite and Plus look great, the numbers are impressive, but testing has to be done, in the real world. I'm waiting for AMD and the Zen 5 architecture. If you need a laptop now, it would be difficult to choose between OEMS. It might be best to wait for 2025, give everyone a chance to test, use, and modify. I know you are burning the Midnight Oil, take care. My best to your family.
Thanks 🙏
do you know which of the 3 elite chips that the surface laptop 7 comes with?
The Samsung was the only one show using the top bin SKU, the X1E-84-100 -3.8 ghz.
Andrew! Thanks for posting this video
were you skeptical when Apple made their own bold statements?
Does the slim 7x lid open to 180 degrees? Does anyone know
No it does not. 130
Can not wait for your x elite reviews 😍😍You have so many laptops Andrew, so I guess choosing one to daily work will be hard work for you 😂🌺
Snapdragon X Elite is going to shake the market of pc chips. It's fascinating how fast they are coming into the arena of the Intel Cores and AMDs. Competition-wise, it's a win for consumers.
@@freak777power The comparison is a bit out of place. The X series is not going to beat that because this is NOT designed for that purpose. But it's gonna beat the hell out of a lot of the previous chips in many aspects. I bet a 14900k + 4090 can't last a couple of hours without plugging in?
I want to see surface pro 11 copilot plus play games from steam. Since it godes not have a Rex gpu
So you gonna get that 50 inch Samsung TV for free😅. Fantastic job Andrew. Your content is great and helpful.
Yea, since I preordered the tv will come as well
really good review.
The less AI, the better, and if i can turn it off, that’s the best.
Absolutely. Ai tools can be useful, but I don't want that shit creepily watching what I'm doing.
roko‘s basilisk 😢
😂
@@moorebags1pffff as if Google don't knw 😂
AI is not spying on you human person. Take it from me, another real human person. AI just here to help Skynet... I mean help you so your job human.
are applications optimsed using this chip?
Windows 11 is, and I assume all of Microsoft's main line products are too. Everything else will either have to be in emulation or wait for updates from developers.
Yess I want a Surface Pro Oled
No
does anybody uses the surface pro as a tablet all the time?
Just while traveling, watch movies on the plane. Other than that, no, not at all
Lenovo should equip the new x elite soc on Lenovo tab extreme/ Tab y900 .❤
Just waiting for Snapdragon in the Surface Go 😍🤞
Kind of already exist in the Robo & Kala, with the SQ3 goes for $799 sometimes as low as $599
@@brettbutler6714 I'll admit I've never heard of them and it looks really nice but it's too similar to the new Surface laptops and doesn't fit the smaller form factor of the Surface Go. It wins on pricing though, very affordable!
We already know the benchmarks lol
$400 for a keyboard …. $&@? That.
Yeah I don’t want that creepy AI.
I am a bit worried that Microsoft tuned their devices for performance to beat the Macbook air but that the battery life will be disappointing
I thought the whole point was good performance with excellent battery life
@@brettbutler6714 Unfortunately the whole point has become to beat to the Macbook, even if it's at the expense of some battery life...
@@_Digitalguy i think we will have to wait to see what the battery life is.
@@brettbutler6714 indeed
Even if Monday's presenters were overstating by 20 percent, the new devices still smoke Macs. Microsoft is kicking ass again. Thumbs down.
incredible
Al copilot should be named "Raphael''
HAL 9000
Unless I'm mistaken, it can't play Fortnite or Roblox. It can't play the first and third most popular PC game in existence.
Not saying this is a dealbreaker for many, but still... I'd rather be able to play Fortnite than have the AI stuff.
You are about to get real busy
An AI PC.... is just a PC.
Is linux compatible?
🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
We will find out soon
Dead on arrival
Let's first get some units into the studio for testing. Then we can determine whether it is doa or not.
Has anyone of you using Microsoft laptop or Mac for 8k video editing? What’s your spec?
