Rick is an absolute TREASURE.
He's entertaining to watch, but his confidence in his recipes might be misplaced. I tried the toffee & chocolate wafer cookies twice because he raved so hard about them, but couldn't get mine to come out like he described/presented (they did not spread out, stayed slightly domed.) So I do all this searching to find out why and getting the cookies to spread out like the ones they showcase is something many people are complaining doesn't happen without significant recipe changes. On top of that, the resulting cookies seem to be widely regarded as "ok" rather than to-die-for.

I've come to appreciate how clear and concise he is. Instructive but very down to earth as is with BA hosts. And as for just listening, he has a calm and soothing voice, easy to follow and great for a rewatch while copying the recipe.

You should unpack why what another man wears and does with his body makes you feel anything at all, why do you reinterpret his choice of apron as 'shoving it down my throat', do you find the phrasing to steer slightly homoerotic when proclaiming your discomfort with homosexuality? a imagine the majority of well adjusted straight men wouldn't have paid it much mind apart from bright colours.

@@94sweetmochi I use patron or don julio, safe bets that are widely available and a huge step up from cuervo. There are a bunch of good ones out there though so it's worth trying a few.

Seriously, listen to him avoid Jose Cuervo. It's trash and it's part of the reason tequila gets a bad reputation. May I suggest El Jimador, or Hornitos, or Exotico tequilas. They're about the same price, Exotico is actually cheaper, but taste much better.
Tengo años diciendo que José Cuervo es más famoso pero no el mejor tequila.
Avoid Hornitos if you don't want to become an alcoholic. Too dangerous at that price/ taste.

El Jimador is a good one for the price. I also recently discovered Peligroso, which isn’t too expensive either. Never had Exotico. I’ll have to check it out!
@@suzi32 I have not tried Peligroso yet. I'll give it a shot. Exotico is delightful. You get the tequila flavour but it's clean and doesn't longer past it's welcome. Also never had hangovers with it. My favorite well tequila

@@blunttime420 depending on how many editors they have and the amount of video they're shooting it does take a while. especially if this one was a low priority video and not part of a series. (which is likely)

Well they probably shoot tons of material in one day/week and then cut and edit it for month, that is how movies are shot too.

In Nigeria, we call this Zobo. Ours is very concentrated. Very dark red.

It’s just one little jalapeño though.
chill, it's just jalapeño, not scotch bonnets or habaneros or birds eye chilis. jalapeño capsaicin is rather mild and washes away easily enough.
Is not that strong TBH, it isn't like pepper x or reaper.

I am from Senegal and we use hibiscus for our national drink : Bissap ! We let it sit overnight in warm water to deepen the taste and colour. Then everyone has its recipe but most will include fresh mint and lime :)

If you can find it, get some Cimarron Blanco. It doesn't cost much more than the Jose Shitvo. I think Rick's using Herradura.

wow i had no idea they shoot multiple videos in the same space at the same time i would've thought the sound would be a bit messed up
Allyson Gailey I read somewhere that they have microphones clipped onto them, so that’s why you can hear him clearly and everyone else is much quieter. I think an example of this is in the video where brad makes pizelle(?) cookies, and Claire comes in randomly, saying she’s going to go to a meeting or smth. I recall that she was really hard to hear even though she stood closer to the camera than brad.
I could be wrong though 👀
I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, especially with Claire's stuff taking a week.

That is an awesome pink/red color from the hibiscus.
6:22 Rick just dumps the mint into the pitcher. I have a patch of mint in my yard that I use all the while it is in season, for tabouli, dressing for lamb, etc. And I often just park some in a pitcher and add water for a nice after lawn mowing refreshment drink. But I always bruise it a bit just by rolling it between my palms for a couple seconds. This allows a lot more infusion of the mint flavor.
