A very interesting video Matt! I will watch again for sure, take your information and personal findings on board, to look at potentially using a product myself, to see how I find both the taste (!) and any performance benefits too. Keep up the great work 👍
thank you Matt. this is a fascinating topic that is vastly neglected by all triathlion youtubers. i would love to learn more on intermittent fasting and training, the use of keto mojo, how to find out your optimal glucose level, your view on fat adapted protocol, benefit of fat adaptation vs ketones? thank you for the insights.
I know at least Dan Plews has used ketone esters during his AG win at Kona a few years back. He combines it with LCHF and fasted training, but I'm uncertain the LCHF and fasted training are even necessary if you can achieve high levels of ketone bodies in the blood stream by taking just the esters and using normal fast-acting carbohydrate. You seem to have demonstrated that, Matt. Pretty cool info! Thanks for sharing. Can you comment on the taste? I heard it's quite unpleasant no matter how you swing it.
The Tactical is pretty bitter for sure. Mixing a tea spoon of Gold in your coffee in the morning is pretty unnoticeable. If I have a big workout that I'm prepping for and take the whole bottle like I did in the video, then I mix it was a shot of espresso and just shoot it down...then follow it with a coffee chaser, LOL. I actually don't mind the Performance taste at all. Easy to take that while riding or running.
I followed the DeltaG advice of taking half a bottle of tactical 20-30 mins before a ride, I did a hard 90 min workout with my carb regime exactly the same, I didn’t notice a jot of difference, but !!!! when I took the other half after my ride recovery was noticeably better, I felt very alert, I would normally feel totally wrecked until the morning, I accept I probably haven’t used it very scientifically but for me recovery seems to be it’s strength.
You probably won't notice a huge difference for a 90 min training session. When using ketones in this capacity you are using them essentially as an additional macro. For most 90 mins sessions, you can rely primarily on stored CHO to get through. But, as you noticed, you will finish those sessions less depleted and therefor recover faster.
Sure thing. Important to note that is changes from course to course (see most recent video). - cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/1462/9531/files/Matt_Hanson_s_deltaG_Protocol.pdf?v=1670601911
yes, I took them before, during, and after the race in Kona. And stay tuned, I'll provide a full update here along with my protocol for using this duringIronman races at the end of the season.
Hello Matt I m using ketones to and I received your protocol from delta G. Did you ad some carbs with the ketone in your long rides? And with intensity key sessions? Thanks 🙏
Yes, I am not using ketones while fasting at this point. You certainly can, but that is not what I'm specifically trying to accomplish with them. I'll have a video out on this very shortly...just doing the edits, etc right now. So stay tuned!
I just tried the TdeltaS Ketone Ester Delta G on endurance ride and had a miserable experience. It was like riding a "bonk" for thirty miles! Not at alI what I was expecting given the claims of extra endurance and focus. I definitely will not be using this product any more.
Sorry to hear that you had a tough experience with Ketones. It is important to remember that you need a fueling strategy. You can't just take a dose here and there and expect it to work. You need to keep ketone levels elevated and also maintain your blood sugar while riding. I'll be doing a video on how I went about developing my fueling strategy in the near term.
@@MattHansonTri Update on my earlier post. I switched to using it after the workout to aid recovery and my performance increased in a multi day endurance ride. For training I took 1/2 a bottle at breakfast and definitely had better performance. I think the take away is as a rank armature you can't use the same regimen as a world class athlete. It does require some trial and error to see what works best for you but it does work!
@@irgccgI had a similar experience I didn’t bonk but had zero improvement, but when I took the other half of the bottle the recovery was very noticeable, I felt very alert instead of wrecked.
You have to take osmility into consideration. If you are too high in CHO/electrolytes then the osmolity gets too high in the guy and digestion is slowed. I know I can handle 125g of cho and 1g electrolyte blend per hour without causing an issue in the gut. But if I need to increase the electrolyte due to heat, I need to reduce the CHO or the osmolity gets too high and digestion will slow. It is about optimizing what you can move through the guy the fastest…not what you can actually swallow.
Great to hear Matt. Getting my ketone levels up allowed me to make a huge jump in the Ironman race distance performance and qualified for Kona.
Glad it is working for you.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'll have more info on DeltaG coming soon!

Stay tuned! I'll have a video on this later this summer.

Interesting vid. I am curious to learn more. I did not see the link to the study you referenced.
Sorry, fixed. - pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27475046/
Hi Matt.
Do you mind sharing a link of your protocol.
Thanks

I've been going heavy on cantaloupes & watermelon pre-work during this hot weather & popping hard boiled eggs during physical exercise. Stay hard! 💪
great job at Kona! Just wondering too how you experience has been with the ketones and if you took them during the race at Kona last weekend?
yes, I took them before, during, and after the race in Kona. And stay tuned, I'll provide a full update here along with my protocol for using this duringIronman races at the end of the season.

It destroyed my power on the bike. I felt fine but my power dropped significantly..I have no idea why.
Remember that you need to continue to take in carbohydrates as you are using the ketones!
Per Frank Llosa, CEO of KetoneAid, the ketone ester lowers your blood sugar, so that's what may have happened to you and why you felt sluggish.
Wonderful content 👍
Thank you 👍
Discount code doesnt work
It should be working still. It's a one time use per customer, so you might try with a different e-mail address if you've used it before?
No codes worked, bought full price, will try again next time , switched from hmvn hopefully feel the difference cheers
Message me next time before hand and will make sure it gets sorted for you one way or another.

I don't understand why you can't take both high carbohydrates and electrolytes! Just find an electrolyte that adapts to your needs.
