    I love the navigation feature on my Apex . It allows me to explore new trails and by planning them out beforehand I don't have to take my phone or worry about navigating during the run, which really allows me to focus on running and get into a rhythm. Build quality and battery are fantastic. But if I were to choose one for my non-trail running partner, I would certainly get the Pace 2.

    The only thing that kept me from getting a Pace 2 over my FR745 was the absence of music. I don't run with my phone on me. I do believe what Coros has been doing in such a short time is truly admirable. They'll be doing great things in the near future.

    So in build materials the pace 2 is what in Garmins world is sold at premium price-points.
    But Coros is actually, even in plastic..., better build-quality than Garmin and more durable.
    And the Coros company seems to actually listen- and positivly interact with its userbase.
    Something Garmin stopped doing many years ago.
    Now Garmin only listens to its own golf-centric department leaders and a non-critique base of "testers & developers".

    Missing a simple walking/hiking feature.
    I run rather short Ultras so I'm fine with Pace, but I'll upgrade myself some day... And then, I will look for good navigation + very good battery life.
    I might stay with Coros - Apex ² maybe?
    Note - I really like the crown to unlock and navigate the watch menu.

    One important point…i have the Pace2 since now 2 years and its still working quite well. Big advantage is ..the Coros App over Garmin Connect is more logic from UI and more compatible with devices and more easy with connectivity. I have now a Huawei phone which doesn’t work with Garmin Connect because of missing google services. Also the user interface on Coros App is much more logic and not as „nested“ as on GC. Was ready to choose a Garmin until I discovered COROS.
    Would choose the PACE 2 if it came in 46mm or larger. I doubt I will use additional Apex features but better battery life and larger format without adding too much weight sold me. I just wish the charging mechanism was like the iWatch though. The upside from what I understand, the COROS watches charge fully within 1 hour or so.
    Been wanting to replace my iWatch for years waiting for a sports watch with battery life that lasts at least 30 days.

    Hi! Love your videos. I am getting into my first GPS watch and I have been look predominantly at Coros, but I am open to other brands. I love the value you get with Coros for what I want, being able to upload to Strava and track at a basic level. I do not need fancy features. I trail run more than run on roads and was wondering if you would recommend the Pace 2 if I do have ultramarathon aspirations or if I am best of just going for the Apex? I have looked into the Garmin Instinct Solar, Coros Apex Pro and even the Garmin Fenix 6 but I do not think I need all the features of the latter two and the Apex seems better than the Instinct. Thanks so much for the help!

      Apex will get you a little bit more battery life and the navigation features which might be handy for ultras. It also has a proper "Trail Run" activity which is helpful. The Pace 2 would do the job just has a few less features and isn't build quite as nice.

      The Coros Pace 2 and Apex both support triathlon or multi-sport mode and can be customized to have up to three sports per activity. Hi Chase.
    In your opinion, is the purchase of the Apex 46 / Pro the right choice compared to a competing Garmin with a similar price ?!
    Apex is an old model, released in late 2018!
    Its advantages are battery life, sapphire display, titanium body and 10atm.
    Compared to its Garmin competitors, the Apex has a small number of sport modes (not even walking!), The track/GPX navigation is weaker. Missing: WEB App, payments, emergency messages, music, etc ...!
    Isn't the price for Apex 46 (2018) and especially Apex Pro (2019) high? What do we pay for materials or functions for?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 роки тому +1

      In what way is the tracking wearker on the Apex? Or did you mean navigation features?
      The Coros vs Garmin debate really comes down what you want out of your watch. If you want all of the bells and whistles Garmin offers with Garmin Pay, Music, Wifi, etc... then the choice is obvious. However, to get all of those things you'll need to spend a minimum of $500 for a Garmin Forerunner 745 or 945 since the Forerunner 245 doesn't offer Garmin Pay, or advanced navigation/mapping. The Apex comes in at $299 for the 42mm model and offers premium build quality with Sapphire glass and titanium bezel. So there's certainly a price difference. The other aspect is the software. Some folks just like simple devices and that is where COROS shines. It gets the job done without a lot of the fluff that Garmin's ecosystem has. I personally like both for different reasons 👌

      @@ChaseTheSummit Hi Chase! Thanks for the reply.
      My impressions are based on reviews on the Internet. I have never had a sports smart watch and I want to buy the first one.
      Okay, yes, you are absolutely right! When I think about it again and try to explain my idea to you, I realize that I'm not very right.
      Therefore, I take my words back!
      From internet reviews of the navigation capabilities of the Coros with GPX track, I was left with the impression that they are not equivalent to Garmin. For example, when the trail has 2 or 3 branches or the "back to start" function.
      Please just answer, is Coros navigation equivalent to Garmin in mountain trail running?

      They're both great. The 245 has a bit more smartwatch features and the ability to download additional features from Garmins Connect IQ store. It also has the option of having offline music storage. The Coros Pace 2 is a much simpler watch but is super reliable and has great battery life. The Pace 2 also has the Running Power metric which the 245 needs an additional sensor to record. The 245 is also more expensive. The choice is yours! They're both good in their own regard.

The diameter is a straight line going from one point in the circumference to the opposite point, splitting the whole circle in two perfect halves. The circumference is what you were tracing with your finger. The circumference is always higher in cm than the diametre.

    I have a Garmin 945 that I use for Ultras.
    For what I paid for the watch, I'm not impressed with the material quality, but I got the watch for battery-life and the map (gpx) features.
    Well, it works..., running via gpx, but on occasion when its a really bendy and zig-zaggy route, the 945 looses precision and update speed and starts sounding like as if I taped an angry Canary to my wrist.
    In terms of how easy and intuitively it is to be navigated by, is it then the Garmin or the Coros ?
    You have tried them.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 роки тому +1

      Garmin watches tend to have superior navigation features simply because of their background in GPS devices. The 945 in particular is one of the best on the market and features offline mapping which no other brand is doing yet. The COROS navigation features work well but they're not quite on the same level yet. Hope that helps.

      I have returned my Pace2 after 2 weeks as the power I was getting when connected to my Powertap G3 was always lower than any Suunto, Polar, or Garmin watches I had. Despite my eagerness and readiness to help with troubleshooting, Coros was not motivated even to look at my data. Sad, because that was actually the only reason why I decided to return the watch.

    You think it’s worth the upgrade from the apex to the apex pro?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 роки тому +2

      Depends. If you want a little more battery life, a touch screen, SP02 Sensor and an extra dedicated backlight button then it might be worth it. Apex Pro also has a few exclusive activities like wind surfing. To be honest the touch screen and SP02 sensor aren’t all that valuable except for certain situations. The Apex pro is a bit bulkier but also feels incredibly well built. Is that worth $150? You tell me 🤷‍♂️

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 роки тому

      It does but it's not a great fit. The holes on the Fenix 6 are bigger to accomodate the quick fit pins so the smaller pins on the Coros strap kind of rattle around inside. It works though.

    Hi. I would like to ask if you are going to test yourself zte watch gt. I know that this is more of a smartwatch with sports functions than a sports watch. Price approx. 90-120 €. 5atm, 5days battery life, gps 35h, for someone who plays football it is a nice heatmap function, maybe you can use it to also play tennis . Only the worst is amoled. If a garmin or coros had a heatmap (soccer / tennis) that would make it easier for me to choose a watch. I forgot to add that the zte watch has a pulse oximeter.(spo2). Greeting !

    I bought the Apex 46mm last week and found out that scrolling through data pages is a bit laggy on my device. Especially if I want to go up like three data pages during a workout I cant just scroll up very fast 3 times - I have to "wait" for each animation. It annoys me cause I came from a Polar, where I could just press the Button three times and knew where I were.
    The srcolling through the menu or activities works just fine on my Apex though.
    Is it maybe a thing with the Apex that the processor cant catch up with the new updates? Or is it just my device?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 роки тому

      I think I know what you’re talking about. Most of the Coros watches aren’t super responsive in the widget scrolling and I think it’s because they prioritize battery life over pretty animations. It would be cool if you could skip by widgets a bit quicker though. Thanks for sharing.
