FIXING THE HORRIBLE 4RUNNER SEATS, ONCE AND FOR ALL!!

- This to me, is a true fix to the horrible Toyota 4Runner seats. I just purchased this 2023 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium and was close to trading it in due to the horribly uncomfortable seats.
I found a true solution, if you don't mind disabling a feature in the process. Let me know if you found this video helpful, and if you have any questions feel free to comment!
Toyota can't make everyone happy, I love my 23 4runner seats very comfortable for me and I've gone on several outta state trips. But it's really good info for the people that do need this.
OMG LEGEND, the lumber support was too much. My savior thank you thank you!
Glad I could help!
Hey, how did you end up removing it? Mine looks exactly like this, I can remove the upper two notches but the rest of it feels very much firmly in place esp with the spring tension. How did you approach dismantling it?
@@sierraenvy hmmm i was able to remove that spring and remove how the support bracket that was clipped to at the bottom, it shouldn't be too hard, feel free to be aggressive
I stopped buying F150s because of this. Fully retracted, still way to much for my spine. Helpful video for all vehicle types. Thanks for sharing.
I'm coming from a 2008 Nissan Altima that gave me MAJOR back pain and sciatica issues. My 2025 Trail Premium seats are 10000 better and I love em! Crazy to gear people don't like these seats.
Glad they’re working well for you!
2024 4Runner… Wow, it makes a great deal of difference! It’s gonna be much nicer on long trips now.💯💯
Glad I could help!
Where did you start in terms of dismantling the mechanism? I'm able to push out the upper two notches, but everything else seems set in place with the spring tension
It was tough to get it unhooked from the spring, but I did unattach the top clips first. After that it was 2 pairs of pliers to pull the mechanism that’s hooked to the spring. It was a little frustrating, but just before I called someone to help I got it to unhook. So happy….
I can't thank you enough for posting this. I love everything about my 2024 4Runner TRD Pro EXCEPT for the seats, they were killing my back to the point where I almost got rid of it. It took me 5 minutes to remove the piece, such a difference!
Glad to help!
@@TheElementers I'm built like you, 6ft & 175 LBS. I was adjusting me seat 500 times a day trying to find a sweet spot.
you are correct.. there are issues with the seats and comfort is a complaint for a lot of people. I removed my standard Rav4 seats and replaced them with the leather seats... much better.... my 4Runner seats are too high in the front (Same issue with Rev... but couldn't find any leather seats. Maybe Lexus would work.. but hate to remove cushions internally in the front... ANY ONE?
I TOO HAVE LOWER BACK ISSUES ..L5 V...CAB'T HAVE ANY PROTRUDING LUMBAR...SOUND'S LIKE THE SOLUTION TO MY ISSUE TOO. NEW 2024 4 RUNNER TRD PRO ARRIVING IN JAN-FEB 2024. MY TEST DRIVES SHOWED THE SAME LOWER BACK PAIN AS YOU EXPERIENCED.
I would definitely try this! It’s easy to put back to oem if it doesn’t work for you as well. I’ve driven 9,000 miles with the lumbar removed and haven’t had an issue since
Great, clear video that may be helpful for my wife. Now if I can just figure out how to get more headroom for the passenger seat. 🤔
Hey dude, trying to do the same. What spring do you disconnect first? The top or the bottom... it feels like I have to do something about the springs before I can remove the plastic
Just wondering if this can be returned to stock for resale , I think you said yes but was unsure
Hey! Yea you can reattach the lumbar support once you remove it. It doesn’t need to be permanent. Just be cautious removing the factory lumber and don’t loose the spring as it is smaller.
I have the same issue, these seats kill my back and legs. Got seat jackers and then will try this, I wonder if there is any aftermarket cushion piece that we can snap in for the back? I’ve considered selling my truck or trying to swap for limited seats or lx seats to help with this. Prob my biggest gripe about this truck. Have a 24 orp with 1000 miles so same as you except for year
I have the seat jackers as well, they help but not enough. At least not for me
@@TheElementers I’m tempted to cut out some memory foam cushion and wedge it back there. The back seats are much more padded in comparison. My buddys lx is way more comfy so it’s made me re think. I did a 1000 mile trip after getting the truck and had a really hard time with the back and leg pain
God bless you sir!
Interesting. Opens up the possibility of even more modifications with cushioning as someone else mentioned in your comments. Cool vid. I hadn’t thought of this…👍🤪🏳️🌈
my 4runner doesn't have problems with the seat, if you want your seats more comfortable add SEAT JACKERS, luv em
So I used seat jackers as well and it didn’t help me too much. Removing the lumbar was a huge improvement for me
You might want to explain what seat jackers are as I’m sure a lot of people don’t know the term or what it is. I know it’s a metal bracket that bolts to the front two mounting points of the seat to raise the front
Wow I’m wondering if it was a manufacturing defect. When my lumbar is retracted all the way, it feels concave, no lumbar whatsoever.
Not super sure
The things you guys complain about 😂
Some other guy returned his whole truck because bugs hit his windshield too much 😂
(And I have lower back issues.)
i have no problems yet. i have not gone on a long trip yet
You’re lucky! If you ever get back pain try this, it’s super easy to revert back to factory if it’s not your solution
Lol my 4runner seats are the most comfy sests ive ever had in a car.
@@Fghh108 resistance is futile prepare to be assimilated
That viper cut doesn’t look good at all
Pointless feedback lol
@@TheElementers I know, but had to reply. That thumbnail of the cut, totally destroys the coherence of the 4Runner’s front end design. Looks so ugly and awkward
Unnecessary
It helped my back issues with the seats, it’s not for everyone. Just what helped me
Worked for Me! Thanks for the video. Big difference!

YOU CAN ALSO; STORE LITTLE STUFF. LIKE JUMPER CABLES, FUSES LIGHT BULBS, PUCK LIGHTS. WRENCHES SOCKETS ETC.. . IN THE FRONT SEAT. ''BACK CASING.''' YA REALLY DONT NEED; THE FOAM. BEHIND THE HEAD REST. SO, STUFF IT. PUT YOUR EXTRA 911 JACKET. OR PERSCRIPTION MEDICATION. WHERE THE FOAM. USE TO BE. ZIP CLOSE. YOU CAN ALSO; POKE A HOLE. IN THAT FOAM. BEHIND, THE HEAD REST.
