*Alternative:* If you’re a little afraid that using a cleansing balm or cleansing oil as your pre-cleanser will break you out you don’t have to use either. A well formulated *micellar cleansing water* _(pick an alcohol-free/non-stripping one)_ can work wonders when used on a reusable cotton pad. A *micellar cleansing gel* is an adequate substitute as well! Just don’t fall into the trap of thinking you don’t need to rinse your face and follow up with a true face wash. I wouldn’t use “micellar wipes” though. They pose some of the same issues that standard facial cleansing towelettes & makeup remover wipes do
Went back through some of your older videos recently and it’s SO LOVELY to see your confidence grow and more of your hilarious personality come through!
Pretty much the difference is that benzoyl peroxide is a bacteria killer and salicylic acid is a pore unclog, both of them should be used together if your acne is caused by bacteria, and benzoyl peroxide should be used along with other antibiotic. That's what I know so far.

WAIT HOLD ON I LITERALLY SEARCHED UP OIL CLEANSING THIS MORNING TO SEE IF HYRAM HAD A VIDEO ON IT EDIT: I just bought the Purito cleansing oil off the link Hyram! Thanks for the informative video!
@@edaozturk701 I have combination skin that's more on the oily side! I've been using it for 2 weeks now and I really like it so far :) It doesn't dry out my skin and I usually go in with a cleanser right afterwards so it doesn't make my skin too dry/oily.
Same! I live in Brazil and there’s almost none of the products he mentions 😭 what i do is i pay attention more to the ingredients he mentions than the brand in itself and try to find something with the same ingredient list from a national brand (which is HARD)
I bought the Burt's Bees cleansing balm on a whim because I needed a quick cruelty free option at the drugstore. I ended up LOVING it, I'm now on my third tub and do not plan to stop!
This video came at a perfect time!! I appreciate you so much for caring and what you are doing to help with ur merchandise and just educating in general!!
Glad you did this, Hyram. Been wanting your opinion on this. I’ve been doing oil cleansing for a year and I love it. (I have very oily, sometimes dehydrated skin.) I’m never going back to using anything else. There’s a few things I think are good to know from my oil cleansing experience: 1. You don’t necessarily need a cleansing oil from a beauty company. Learning about which “regular” oils are best for your skin type and trying them out will help you find a good one for you. 2. Oils are either very oleic, very linoleic, or a combination. Based on whether your skin is oily, dry or combo, pick one that seems right for you. 3. Oils should always be cold pressed, hexane free and organic. Best if they’re in dark bottles and kept in the fridge. 4. After massaging the oil all around your face for a few minutes, drape a very warm washcloth on your face and wait for it to cool. Rinse the washcloth, wring it out and repeat til all the oil is off your face. At the end, very gently wipe your face to gently exfoliate and make sure any trace of the oil is gone. That’s it. You’re finished. No need for a second step of any type of follow up cleanser, (which as you said here, is potentially harsh), and will always be more harsh than the oil. If your skin feels soft and clean and nourished, what else is there to do? You can apply any moisturizer (a bit more of the oil, if you like), or your serums. As I said, been doing this for a year, and love it. Never going back. Thanks for all you do, Hyram. Love you, too. 😊❤️
I finally got to use cleansing oil a week ago. That feeling when I rubbed my hands under water after oil cleansing my face and saw all the white sunscreen removed, that was more than satisfaction!
omg yes ! I felt the exact same way, I had no idea sunscreen stayed on my face and penetrated so deeply into my skin. Its always nice to see it "fall off" in a way
i’ve been struggling trying to find a good cleansing oil. I always find my self coming back to you! You are so informative. I love you Hyram and thank you for helping me save my skin!!!!
I used to think that Cleansing oil was a cleanser made out of oil. Like, you know how some cleansers are foamy and some are gel? I thought Oil was another one. I am so so soooo happy that I don't like using oily products to clean my face otherwise, I would have been using oil cleanser as an actual face wash. (That would have been embarrassing!) Also, when you specified what you meant by "double cleansing", OH MY GOD. I thought that meant you had to wash your face with face wash, twice in a row! I am loving how specified and how detailed you go into everything! You're the best, thank you so much!
I have been commenting on all my favourite skincare youtubers about oil cleansing and how much good it has done for my acne acne prone skin! Thank you for doing a video on it. EXACTLY what I've wanted to see!!! ❤❤

Some notes to help some of y’all out
Popular Ingredients (keep in mind of your skin type):
Niacinamide: small pores, better texture, controls oil production, protects skin barrier: DONT use with pure vitamin c
Salicylic acid(bha): super deep chemical exfoliant
Glycolic and lactic acids(aha): less deep chemical exfoliant
Hylaluronic acid: humectant, draws in moisture
Direct acids: (AHA, BHA) DONT mix with other acids, vitamin c, peptides, retinols
Vitamin c: collagen production and repair: pure vitamin c shouldn’t be used with niacinamide, retinols, and direct acids
Peptides: collagen repair and skin health: shouldn’t be used with direct acids and pure vitamin c
Retinols: they reduce fine lines and repairs damage by accelerating the growth of the skin ex: physical scarring: DONT use with with peptides, other retinols, and pure vitamin c
Arbutin: lightening skin
Zinc: good for anti- inflammatory stuff
Some basic info:
Chemical exfoliant are the way to go
Physical exfoliants too harsh
Cleansing oils are good to get rid of makeup, sunscreen, and just really help cleanse
Always use sunscreen after retinols and exfoliating or ur skin will be more damaged than helped
Keep moisturized
Sunscreen is the most important component in ur skin routine so use it...
EVERY SINGLE DAY YAH (shoulder shakes)
Don’t use direct acids everyday
Use lightening ingredients for discoloration and pigment acne scars
Sunscreen is must after using retinols and direct acids or you will do more damage as they strip away ur skin
Avoid fragrances
Avoid essential oils
Avoid certain alcohols (ethanol or ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, SD alcohol, benzyl alcohol) they will dry u out
No raw coconut oil for skin it’ll clog ur pores
Sulfates are not rlly good either
Try not to touch your skin too much it can be irritating (keep those paws off that bootiful face)
Despite things u heard, olive oil rlly isn’t that moisturizing
Good oils to include: tea tree oil, rose hip seed oil, and I forgot what else
Green tea is also a good antioxidant
Antioxidants are good cause they prevent the growth of free radicals in skin which break down ur skin
To prevent your products from flaking off, let your products absorb into your skin for a while before layering on the next one
Try out some Korean skin care, they know what they’re doing
Lower ph is less irritating: but too low is bad too
High ph is irritating
Double cleansing system
A minimal skin routine is hyram’s philosophy as it’ll reduce the chances of irritation and too many products isn’t necessary to perfect ur skin routine
Don’t be aggressive with ur skin
DIY skincare is a big Nono as it’s expensive and results are questionable
No pore vacuum nonsense stuff
Skin care is all about consistency and experimentations and having fun
I’m not an expert either, so of course I may be misinformed on some things and obviously this shouldn’t be your only source so DON’T take these notes as the LAW.
I wasn’t expecting you to say “mijo” lol
I love reading comments right when the thing they referenced happens

Hey king can we see a “benzoyl peroxide vs salicylic acid” video?
dr dray has one
Pretty much the difference is that benzoyl peroxide is a bacteria killer and salicylic acid is a pore unclog, both of them should be used together if your acne is caused by bacteria, and benzoyl peroxide should be used along with other antibiotic. That's what I know so far.
@@Henry1999ist @Hannah Cort Thank you both so much! I had done a little research in my own but I wanted to see if Hyrem could give me a more in-depth breakdown of the ingredients :) but thank you for your insight I really appreciate it
Dr Dray has an amazing video on it
*queen*
YESSS!! I always wanted to oil cleanse but never knew how to do it cause no one actually tells you how to do it they usually tell you how they do it & it usually does not help my knowledge of it. Thank youu
I’ve used the Neutrogena body oil as a cleanser when my balm ran out! Its mostly sesame oil. Works like a charm, for a fraction of the cost. Fantastic removing eye makeup especially.
So happy you’ve done a video on this! I added a cleansing balm to my routine around a year ago, and OMG has my skin been better for it! Nothing breaks down the products on my skin like it!

WAIT HOLD ON I LITERALLY SEARCHED UP OIL CLEANSING THIS MORNING TO SEE IF HYRAM HAD A VIDEO ON IT
EDIT: I just bought the Purito cleansing oil off the link Hyram! Thanks for the informative video!
The purito cleansing oil is sooo good!! Your going to love it!

Have you oily skin or dry skin ? can i also use it for my combination skin ?
@@edaozturk701 I have combination skin that's more on the oily side! I've been using it for 2 weeks now and I really like it so far :) It doesn't dry out my skin and I usually go in with a cleanser right afterwards so it doesn't make my skin too dry/oily.
@@kaleighlin ohh okayy thank you :))
Just started watching Hyram and his skin guiding has helped me a lot already! This is THE skin care specialist!
Another addition to the thrilling saga: Nothing Hyram recommends is available in my country and the one thing that is worth more than I am
SAME, where do u live? I’m in Argentina
and EXPENSIVE🤠 Im just gon find substitutes and buy those
Same! I live in Brazil and there’s almost none of the products he mentions 😭 what i do is i pay attention more to the ingredients he mentions than the brand in itself and try to find something with the same ingredient list from a national brand (which is HARD)

Who’s here in 2023 because you just figured out what oil cleaning is
Me
You should do drugstore oil cleansers/balms!!
omg I literally bought an oil cleanser last week, YAY FOR THIS VIDEO
I’m getting ready to purchase my first oil cleanser. So thank you for this video. Makes me a little less nervous about using a oil cleanser.
These skincare 101 videos were my first introduction to Hyram and to skincare so... what an amazing road since there
I bought the Burt's Bees cleansing balm on a whim because I needed a quick cruelty free option at the drugstore. I ended up LOVING it, I'm now on my third tub and do not plan to stop!
Me having a hell of a day, gets this notifications
“Ugh thank god, my best friend posted something new.”
Proceeds to grab a snack and watch.
This video came at a perfect time!! I just started getting interested in balms but of course needed to check what’s hyram approved ✅ so this was great!! 💙
Side note: please also keep educating us on environmental dos and don’t when it comes to this industry. I appreciate you so much for caring and what you are doing to help with ur merchandise and just educating in general!!
I liked the "clean it zero balm"! My skin changed so much after including a cleansing balm in my skincare routine, thanks hyram😘❤️
Glad you did this, Hyram. Been wanting your opinion on this.
I’ve been doing oil cleansing for a year and I love it. (I have very oily, sometimes dehydrated skin.) I’m never going back to using anything else.
There’s a few things I think are good to know from my oil cleansing experience:
😊❤️
I miss the old background, the plants, the products, such a wholesome vibe 🥺 - love you still though hope you’re well 🤍
HYRAM WHAT THE HECK I JUST LOOKED UP ‘BEST OIL CLEANSERS” AND YOU JUST UPLOADED AN HOUR AGO!!?!?!?? HOW DID YOU KNOW???!!??!?
I finally got to use cleansing oil a week ago. That feeling when I rubbed my hands under water after oil cleansing my face and saw all the white sunscreen removed, that was more than satisfaction!
omg yes ! I felt the exact same way, I had no idea sunscreen stayed on my face and penetrated so deeply into my skin. Its always nice to see it "fall off" in a way
Y’all if he makes a skin care line, we’d be GLOWING
thank you for always caring for the environment!
i’ve been struggling trying to find a good cleansing oil. I always find my self coming back to you! You are so informative. I love you Hyram and thank you for helping me save my skin!!!!

I can't be the only one who wiped down their screen thinking the stains on the backdrop near Hyram's shoulders were screen smudges.
Hyram you’ve taught me so much. You educate in such a caring and loving way. I hope you’re doing well.

Off topic but how is Hyram literally the sweetest person in the world except when it comes to talking about St.Ives
Hyram: “ canola oil is good for your skin”
Me: 👀 (in my kitchen tempted to try it)
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for this series, it's saving my skin 😭❤️
I always have used coconut oil to remove waterproof mascara because it does the job so well and is so kind to my lashes!
Another change in the background! You’re killing me! 😂
Hey hyram can you do the truth about alba Botanica skincare bc I use a lot of their products and I really want to know if they are actually good♡
YAAAAS! Considering its Hawaiian based and for my own personal usage I found that their products work really well for my combination skin!
Till two years ago I didn’t know oil cleansers existed and I thought that double cleansing meant using two different water based cleansers and so twice a day I would first go in with the clean and clear morning cleanser and second with a tea tree and witch hazel foaming cleans 😭
I can attest that the Then I met you cleansing balm is AMAZING
If you made a video about back acne it would literally save my life !😭 I’ve been dealing with it for months. Much love ❤️

Oh my god i wish i had found this video sooner. I saw the tiktok trend where everyone oil cleanse for like half an hour and i tried just that.
