This is a WOMAN!!! No one touches her elegance, poise, sophistication. Even before she opens her mouth, hers is a powerful presence. I will forever be awestruck by Nancy Wilson!
Nancy Wilson´s mannerisms and facial expressions go along beautifully with her interpretation, which is so intense and sooo sublime.. What a fabulous performance, what a great star !!!
We lost our beautiful Nancy on 12-13-18. Makes me so sad because she was a favorite of mine for so many years! She called herself a "song stylist" and she was so right, she had a style like no other, simply inimitable! RIP, Nancy, and sleep warm. We will miss you. (Thankfully we have her recordings and videos like this.) Andy is gone now too. There were some superb talents back in that era, that were incomparable, and NO one has come forward who is as good or memorable as they were. Music (if you can call it that) by popular singers today, is mostly noise with a banging beat) but fortunately, we have recordings with which to remember them and still admire them.
Saw her in Nashville twice! Once at the Ryman and once at The Grand Ole Opry House! Both performances absolutely amazing! She even accepted a rose from me while on stage and shook my hand! A moment I will cherish for my lifetime!!
She just fantastic. I have always been so awed by that phenomenal voice. Just like when she sang My One And Only Love, hearing her sing this song gives me the chills! By the way, Chaka Khan also sang this song, a little differently, but also very well.
This magnificent viewing of Nancy Wilson reinforces how much I have enjoyed her music and seeing her live. She was really a remarkable singer and classy.
I love Nancy Wilson. She is such a wonderful singer. She also is a great actress. I once saw her play a role on Hawaii Five O and she was great! What a wonderful voice and what a wonderful person. My very best, Nancy!
OMG, I am having myself a Nancy WIlson day! I keep finding one great video after another. She is just oneof my favorites, and she takes me to an emotional place that I have not been to in a long time. You know what? It feels good. I am just going to chill when I get home and play some Nancy Wilson albums and just enjoy the rare relaxing moment.
I look at Ms. Wilson and recall how as a teenager my sister and I were often told we looked like Ms. Wilson. I think it was in the hair and our little brown skins. Just a couple of weeks ago a gentleman who used to be a stage manager for Ms. Wilson in New York stopped me and said "Honey you look exactly like Ms. Wilson". I blushed. I'm only moderate attractive I guess but to hear a comparison to this great woman all my life, I am pretty much proud. She was and is so elegant. : )
boomerang905 I In my twenties i was told i resemble Nancy Wilson. I use to wear the same hair styles and dressed the same way. I have a photo of me with my hair style . Nancy Wilson is such a classy lady . There will never be another Nancy Wilson...❤
@@merianpeterson5073 .... I'm 71 years old now. One of the first albums I bought at 13 years old was Nancy Wilson. I would sit on the arm of the armchair next to our combo record player and radio and sing all of her songs with her. Over and over again. Her voice encompassed it ALL. I wanted to be her when I grew up. Not a nurse, not a secretary...but Nancy Wilson! Being a white girl that was a tough one, but never thought about it. Plus....I couldn't sing a note that didn't send shivers down my neighbors spines (and my poor tolerant mother!). I guess the point is, I adored her and at my age of 13 she impressed me with cool, calm and beauty. I loved "singing" with her! Miss you, singing partner❤
From the album "Tender Loving Care". If you can find this album, I assure you that you will not be disappointed. You will want to be with someone special, sharing a bit of your favorite wine. Nancy's voice will take you to places you will want to visit over and over again. She is simply the best.
I have it on CD and on vinyl..The arranger/conductor for that album is the great Billy May...It sounds like they're playing the arrangement from the recording in this clip...
the young ppl of 2day, get so twisted...the ones that paved the way for todays artist, they put at the back...ms. wilson, is the one that todays artist copy. she has retired, and that God she's still here. she celebrated 81, and it would be so nice, if we can do some kind of celebration to let the magnificent lady know, just how much she means to us. we won't see the likes of her again. love her madly. this lady got MORE class in her little finger n style, then the ones today. ms. fancy nancy
On Nancy Wilson's performance of Don't Go To Strangers Remember, Nancy Wilson is the next step in the progression of this art, not to be compared with her predecessors... Ella, Sarah, Day, Christy, Jackson, Sinatra, Como, Exstine, etc. nor with those who followed. It's always the Unfathomable voice of God expressing... blending many preceding expressions, insights, tributes of previous and contemporary expressions. Disconnecting, preferring, comparing singers, musicians, dancers, artists...
Nancy is one of the greatest singers of all time, and I truly love watching this video, she is so sexy and classy. If you enjoy music like this you should also check out Anita O'day "that old feeling" that is another great performance.
She was the Diana Ross of the jazz music world. I always felt if it wasn't for this lady, the rock and roll generation wouldn't have known about jazz singing/music or easy listening music. She was a big star in that genre Sad that today this kind of music is considered elevator music
This was a time when performers respected their fans dollars. They brought Talent; stage presence and were impeccably dressed. Ms. Wilson, wasn't just a woman she was a lady. I'm done!
@bummedoutforlife there is no comparison between the soulful beauty and expression of a great vocalist like Nancy Wilson and the garbage that spews out of the mouths of the low life hip hop/rap generation.
Wow! No gyrations or "rump shakers", and she's fully clothed. I guess she's gotten by all these years on just.....TALENT?!! Maybe sometimes that's all it takes to become an industry icon.
True. Most Folk were naturally then back then is probably what I shoulda said. I've always thought Nancy was a fox. I just never seen her that small and that was a shock. Even in the early 90's people were regular lookin thick or slim. Nowadays hell I don't know what to say.
but... times have changed I agree that voice should be enough but during these times this was the norm the way she is dressed in the vid is the way that was revered by the media unlike the norms of today so yes lets go back to the days when talent mattered.
Call the fire department somebody, cuz she just set off a three alarm burn. Loved the way she worked those stairs to the stage. Sorry, but way too many women today don't seem to understand it doesn't make you less of a women if you're a lady.
Really a beautiful woman too and in hindsight I wonder whether she could have had an African American'Barbie' doll named after her... the 'Nancy doll', nice thought tho', hmmm!
See, this is the problem with people who don't have adequate historical or artistic reference points in order to build INFORMED opinions to make themselves at least appear intelligent. I love her facial expressions, and bummedoutforlife is exactly right; It was normal stage etiquette for the day and singers were trained in how to use their hands, faces, etc. Check out Sarah Vaughn et al to get my drift.
Ummmmm yeah . . . jazz is much more complicated than R and B. I sing both and jazz is new to my repertoire and I must say . . . it takes much more practice to master the melodies of jazz.
They are still out there, lots of them! Men and women. Mostly performing in black churches. A pity they are not showcased by mainstream media... isn't the internet supposed to be the equalizer for such errors?
hey folks, don't get caught up in comparing her to Etta, come on now they were both great, it's a disservice to both ladies,,listen to both ,and enjoy both.
@lalamama4real i know right? nancy wilson got by all this time on talent? the nerve of her! the utter audacity! the unmittigated gall! lmao...i SO agree with you lalamama.....i'm sorry but beyonce, ciara, rihanna, keyshia cole, just to name a few "contemporaries" out here today, need not take a page from miss nancy wilson, they need to have their butts in CLASS and have nancy school these girls on what it means to have talent, poise, class, and sophistication.
that is false. hip hop is one of the greatest expressions of art that originated by the black community if you're referring to the unfortunate popularization of misogyny and violence, I don't blame hip hop, I blame the source and system that created and perpetuated them within the black community in the first place
Actually, it was probably the other way around. Nowadays we are so obsessed with being thin. Back then you didn't have to be a size 2 to have a career. The women were shapely and now they have to be sticks!
This is a WOMAN!!! No one touches her elegance, poise, sophistication. Even before she opens her mouth, hers is a powerful presence.
I will forever be awestruck by Nancy Wilson!
Any song anytime the Queen of Music Miss Nancy Wilson!
The great Nancy Wilson

She's becoming one of my favorite jazz singers, up there with Ella and Dinah. Andy Williams was so handsome too 😍
She just fantastic. I have always been so awed by that phenomenal voice. Just like when she sang My One And Only Love, hearing her sing this song gives me the chills! By the way, Chaka Khan also sang this song, a little differently, but also very well.

so beautiful and classy..... she si a great role model if more of our young people would simply watch and learn
Ms Nancy at her best......

I love Nancy Wilson. She is such a wonderful singer. She also is a great actress. I once saw her play a role on Hawaii Five O and she was great! What a wonderful voice and what a wonderful person. My very best, Nancy!
Remarkable! I truly missed this era of when television was a real source of entertainment.

One of my favorite singers of all times...~
Now that's what you call a beehive. I've seen Nancy perform live many times, always sounds as elegant and beautiful as she looks.
I actually have this song by many different artists and this is the best. I think Nancy is one of the best artists of all time
One of the last authentic singers! She was terrific!
Beautiful...just beautiful...all the way around!!!
So thankful that Bill Cosby introduced my generation to Nancy Wilson ... no-one teaches these kids today anything about music.
I LOVE HER VOICE and everything else about her.
just masterful. RIP Miss Nancy
I have just discovered this woman.
Love her!!!!!!!!

Looking at your photo (which is small) I can see why people said that. And you are still beautiful.
@@Sicilia928 Thanks so much!!
I'm LOVING that voice and listening to A REAL AMERICAN IDOL!
Thanks for this clip,a beautiful song sung by a beautiful lady!
Nancy, Nancy, Nancy!.....Breathtaking!
There can only be one woman who can sing a song and make it her own Miss Nanci Wilson
Pure Elegance, Grace and Most of All Talent
HELL YEAH!!
Aint it great just to see some one do it with just the voice and their presence.
FLAWLESS!💕

I absolutely love this song, no matter who does it! This is a beautiful lady doing a beautiful song like no other woman can!
Breathtaking....love ya Nancy.
She is soooo classy. I'm 23 and I love this kind of music.
I just love watching her perform!❤
Thank God for Ms. Fancy Wilson, she always n a class of her own. Admired her style of singing n she is one of our LIVING TREASURE
This is too beautiful for any comment....
A Timeless Classic by a Timeless Beauty!!!
Her record with Canonball Adderley and an allstar rythm section is highly recommended!! She sings so beautiful in her own original way...
Wow, talent and grace have gone the way of the dinosaur.....extinct!! Thanks for the memories, UA-cam and Ms. Wilson.
loved it loved it really a good song smiled during the entire song

@kives1985 LOL! You got me on that one. I guess there's something for everyone. Just glad Nancy took the more "sophisticated" path. :)
great performance
@zane5153 You are welcome, Etta was one of the great singers indeed!
That's not to say anything disparaging of Nancy Wilson, of course.
@garnerean AMEN! Thank you.
Eyes lit up.
Enjoyed!
beautiful, classy, talented.
Her voice is still this good in concert.
OK? Class & sass! :)
THANKS !
Have Mercy!
@lalamama4real TALENT WHAT'S THAT? OH HER SINGING VOICE. NO CARES FOR THAT ANY LONGER.
Now this is a performance. Take note! I'm not calling no names. Tee hee.
jesus... look at those sexy eyebrowes... she is THE woman!
Vivica Fox should portray her in a movie...i love Nancy Wilson's music...
She sounds like a Cannonball Adderley alto sax solo. There's a clear influence as Cannon discovered her and she sang with his band for years.
The Chaka Khan version of this is also very good.
Damn she was fine. So jazzy!
Despite the fact that jazz isn't what it use to be, there are some good singers out there; although none of them come close to a quality like this.
Regina belle sings nancy Wilson
Nancy Wilson, is the great female "Song Stylist"
Do you have the album, and if so, who was the arranger/conductor. It sounds a lot like Oliver Nelson, but that might be wishful thinking on my part.
