    I can't believe it ...I heard this song ONCE in the early 70's on a radio station but got no name or details about it - er, ah.. I was slightly drunk ..but never forgot it. Looked for it a zillion times over the years without success but now 45+ years later...here it is! My life is fulfilled.

      I lived in this part of the world for 3 decades but it took Lessons in Chemistry to lead to this gem. There were more good music in the show but this really got my attention. I don't mind she slowing it down but I do prefer the record version. The show is good too.

      This was a Grammy winning top 10 US Billboard Hot 100 hit in 1964. It was covered in 1975 by Kiki Dee. Nancy Wilson was one of the best loved jazz vocalists of the 60s and 70s who recorded on Capitol Records. She recorded over 60 albums before her death in 2018. Another big hit US Top 10 hit was Face it Girl, It's Over which was featured in a Tom Cruise movie. She was known for her sultry laid back style and recorded many excellent covers of contemporary hits as well as original material. Check out more clips on You Tube and check out some of her albums- she had such a unique distinctive singing style.

      I knew one woman when I was a teenager that was a world class whistler! She was my best friend's mom and she used to put on a John Phillip Sousa record and whistle all the piccolo parts ... while vacuuming! She turned the music loud enough to be heard over the vacuum, then she'd start the vacuum and started whistling along and her whistle soared over the music and the vacuum! Since I can't whistle to save my life, I was duly impressed. My friend just shrugged her shoulders and said, "That? My mom always does that when she vacuums."

I’ve played it all drinking dancing hanging mostly with 1 favorite sister & our kids as they grew. Memories I love & pray I instilled good old r&b in them and they too pass it down the line. Nancy Sue Wilson (February 20, 1937 - December 13, 2018) was an American singer whose career spanned over five decades, from the mid-1950s until her retirement in the early 2010s. She was especially notable for her single "(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am" and her version of the standard "Guess Who I Saw Today". Wilson recorded more than 70 albums and won three Grammy Awards for her work. During her performing career, Wilson was labeled a singer of blues, jazz, R&B, pop, and soul; a "consummate actress"; and "the complete entertainer". The title she preferred, however, was "song stylist".[1] She received many nicknames including "Sweet Nancy", "The Baby", "Fancy Miss Nancy" and "The Girl With the Honey-Coated Voice".[2]

      Please do not put them IDIOTS. In the same sentence as NANCY WILLSON. if you had any common sense you would know what I mean.

    • @milacaibal3976
      @milacaibal3976 Рік тому

      @davidkavanagh9551 who are you referring to as IDIOTS? I didn't know Nancy Wilson as a singer. I've never heard her song since I was not born, yet during her time of popularity. There are a lot of talented Black singers that only these past decade were being accepted and honored in this society of white supremacy. I just happened to hear her music thru Meghan Markle and Harry's Netflix documentary. So, excuse me. I don't know what or who you are accusing as IDIOTS!
      I don't want to add fire to people's hatred. I just love to enjoy the music, not the people complaints of many different things in life.

    Nancy Wilson was an unknown talent to me when this song was receiving airplay. Listening to her inventive tempo , the stop and start again style and the distinctive jerkiness of her phrasing is the mark of a expert singer. Her background was in Jazz singing, and you can hear that in her bouncy playfulness on this recording. This was a Stand-Out performance!

    How glad am I ? still starstruck by Nancy Wilson. To see this beautiful creature singing... It is an unforgettable moment when one first lays eyes on her. Men and women both are always speechless after watching her sing. Just how special she is and was. The unforgettable Nancy Wilson Goddess. What a woman

    Nancy and her family lived in my neighborhood (in Ohio) she was every bit of class and so respectful even before the big times. She was my siblings age and her younger sister was my age and we'd hang out on their porch while her sister imitated her singing "Face it Girl". Great memories, thanks for the post.

    I first heard this in the early sixties. My big brother had the album and I was looking through his things and played the album and was totally hooked. I was ten at the time but I never forgot it, sadly I lost my brother to liver cancer but I play this song to remember how glad I was to have him in my life. Miss you Mel and still think of you often.
