I’ve spent the last 5 hours watching Brent Mason playing live and some insightful interviews, and man that was food for the soul. Gold standard standard musicality in all idioms, all configurations, playing what is indicated in the moment. Every university with a Guitar major should have a course on Brent Mason ( and Michael Stern)!
....this is beyond competition ,beyond music itself & beyond words....Legendary Mike Stern shows one more time ,that true Art lives in modesty ,kindness and the Power of Human Spirit ! Thanks for the lesson Mr.Stern .
I love how Mike is just as thrilled with Brent's solo as we are at home. If you look closely, he actually mouths "mother f***" @ 3:25 and smiles from ear to ear. (as did I)
Brents technical chops are definitely better than Mike's, though Mike broke both of his arms and sustained permanent nerve damage to his right hand. That's why you see him adjusting his pick grip constantly. He can't hold the pick and it's glued to his thumb. Considering that, Mike's definitely holding his own. If you watch clips of Mike playing with Billy Cobham or Miles back in the 80s, before he used so much chorus, he was one of the most precise and fastest pickers out there.

Che belle parole è la recensione più bella che abbia mai sentito ho i brividi meno male che esistono anche le persone come lei

Two of my favorite guitarists.
Mike: “I love this motherfer!”
Brent:”I had to follow him!”
Thank y’all for crushing!
Thank you both for the inspiration!
I love you both.
Two of my favorites on the same stage
Man I must to tell you are awesome, greetings from South America
Smokin' without cigarettes, magic!
Top Mike Stern!
Well, Mike Stern was my favorite guitar player.
I love hearing Mike genuinely freaking out over Brent's solo! It gives me life
what... GOT to love America. #americasgreatestcontribution
Great Rhythm Section Brent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stern is a living legend. For Mason to stand up there & hold his own an idiom his not really known for speaks volumes…..
Mike: (burns down the house, firearms and weapons, leaves everybody in awe)
Brent: uhu, well, hold my bear.
Good clean fun!
FFS....sublime !
saw Mike Stern with Michael Brecker in Toronto about 1987-88.....pinned me to the wall....
They have a good time!
You are badass, man!
Dois malucos 🤪👏
LOVE the DRUMMER .
Carlock right?
@@_smith8862 yea and there was a special guest that also graduated from UNT, Jeff coffin
Can't believe I had to leave Nashville a year earlier and miss this!!!
Almost looks like Terry Kath.
I's probably better I wasn't there as I would have exploded with happiness at some point.
Mike is a wild man but Brent rules the day!
D 👌 best 👌
Man oh man, this Brent plays like HELL and rules all the way: GREAT !!
Brent’s the best anywhere anytime!😄
No point competing against Brent...
Mike..Let him use his guitar.
il mike stern di adesso dopo l incidente che ha avuto alle spalle non suona neanche un decimo di come suonava prima ve l assicuro
As Brent fights off boredom and wonders why he’s there.
Brent is just awesome to be able to even solo over that junk.
Kinda like grasshopper (Mike) and the master (Brent)...
Boy you couldn't have that more backward if you tried.
@@KevinSmithdc morons being morons.
Come on!!!!
so,mike if you are afraid of brent you play 30min solo and don want him to play chords....
After touring with Miles or Michael Brecker, I'm not sure Mike is afraid of anyone.
But why always think bad? Come on, there's brotherhood competition/emulation here, not someone trying to take down the other like that.
I think Brent shows us that playing each note clearly says more than a machine gun of notes that your ears dont grab. My take on it anyway.

Jeez, like Stern has anything to prove….. I love both of this guys equally…..
