Did not grow up liking country music at all probably because my mom pushed it on me in the 70's I just started listening to classic country not long ago but now here in 2018 at the age of 60 I only listen to it ( mom was right ) I was listening to IHeart Radio one day just weeks ago and on came this song " IS IT RAINING AT YOUR HOUSE " and I was like who is that , that VOICE just blew me away. Not only is Vern Gosdin my favorite country singer of all time but now this also is my #1 favorite song ever Just LOVE him and there will never be another voice again like Vern's. By accident I seen Vern perform on the river in Columbus,OH. There was a crowd so my brother pulled in. We walked all the way up front and took a seat. I was floored when he walked out!
Vern Gosdin released the song in December 1990. “Is It Raining at Your House” was a phrase from a conversation over the phone. The conversation was between Vern Gosdin and Hank Cochran. At that time, Vern Gosdin called Hank Cochran during a Nashville, Tennessee thunderstorm. He asked his friend “is it raining at your house like it’s raining at mine.” Hank Cochran, on the other hand, replied yes and thought of it as a good song. Then they, along with Dean Dillon, decided to make a song out of it, and as we all know, it became a massive hit.
you know, all these new "country" singers think the are the best thing to ever hit "country music". well in my own opinion and hopefully most if not all of yalls, they should go back and listen to Tom T hall or Waylon jennings, Hank Sr, Mr Vern Gosdin, Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, Mr. George Jones, And Johnny Cash.
