Hi Dr. Ellie. I just found your regimen video a few days ago. Our family has been loving it and noticed difference right away. My son, however, has a tooth that had a cavity and slowly began decaying. He now has an abscess on his molar. He is 6. I do not want to get it pulled but I also don’t want it to mess with his adult tooth underneath. Do you have any recommendations?
You said in one of your videos that you will recommend a routine for European countries. It is really difficult for us to order on Amazon the routine you recommend. At the same time, we have here a lot of high-quality products. Maybe you've heard of Curaprox or something else. Help Europe, please 🙏 ❤

I have acid reflux and due to this I'm facing gum recession and also facing pain and sensation... Nothing is working... I'll do ur complete mouth care system...
Dr. Ellie, thank you so much for your videos and program. I rarely need cleanings, just every few years, thanks to my own old fashioned efforts... ☺️flossing at night, hydrogen peroxide rinse morning and night, cleaning picks and xylitol during the day. But I'd like to try your system now because I'm losing ename at the bottomends of my top front teeth and bottom teeth edges too. I'm hoping your system may help. Do you think it can remineralize the bottom edges of my top teeth?
Hi 👋, are there any videos discussing how to improve or manage our dental health AFTER we've already had several damages or mistakes done (sealants, fillings issues, implants, veneers, whitening, braces/invisalign, etc... etc...) I'm still going through the videos so don't know yet what all the wrong/harmful procedures are , but across my family we've had everything done. Anything we can do to damage-control? I know of course some things may be impossible to manage, too late for it, but anything than can be done on top of the normal system to help/improve/slow down negative effects? Many thanks!
The Complete Mouth Care System with xylitol, proper toothbrushes, and doing everything correctly is really the most you can do. Since you've already had all that other work done, the most you can do now is use the system to strengthen and protect what you now have from further future damage and work.
Dr. Ellie, what do you recommend for my son? He is 5yrs old, has autism, and because he has a hard time with oral hygiene, what are recommendations for these children? He has holes in his teeth already.😔🙏Thank you! ❤concerned Mama
I have a question about a video on TikTok (The heathiest hack for getting stains off of your teeth). Do I use Listerine as normal after the procedure and ACT afterwards? Thank you.
I don't know anything about that video you mentioned, but Dr. Ellie's system is to be used in this order: Closys Ultra Sensitive mouth rinse, Crest Cavity Protection regular paste, Listerine original antiseptic (with alcohol) in flavors Original or Cool Mint, ACT anticavity mouthwash zero alcohol in flavors Mint, Cinnamon or Bubble Gum. Then wait 30 minutes after ACT and use xylitol.
This is a big question I have: a dentist I know is 33 years old and every time I’ve been to him for fixing a tooth it cracks six months later and then he collects more money from me. It does the same thing again is my dentist screwing me over for money knowing I have money and how do I report people like this?
In European countries there is a National amd Regional Association of Dentists. Idk how is in the US but I advice to ask around and look up. Maybe even ask another dentist where you can report your former dentist.
I have never seen her write any certain Ultradex; she usually just writes Ultradex. You would need to compare ingredients in the different Ultradexes to see which one is closest to Closys Ultra Sensitive.
Thanks for asking this question, Sharon! I emailed Procter & Gamble this week about this very issue. They emailed me back and said that indeed it is now called Crest Plus Cavity Protection. Upon my initial inspection on my own it seems it’s the same Ingredients on the box. I would like to what the doc says about it. It makes me nervous when the companies do this kind of thing.
Hello Dr Phillips. This week, I saw a Dr J London, heart surgeon, YT short abt stop using an alcohol mouthwash for improved heart health due to imbalance of bacteria. 🤔 Do you know of recent studies abt Listerine or even Act mouthwashes causing heart issues? I understand that you have been on your program for decades & you look great! Please help explain, thanks!
She talks about this all the time. The main thing is xylitol. And her Complete Mouth Care System does amazing things for oral health too and boosts the speed of xylitol results.
Hi, Dr. Ellie. I want to follow your plan, but I have a lot of calculus buildup on all my teeth. How can I get rid of it, or what do you recommend to do about it?
You don't need to do anything about calculus (tartar) buildup before starting her program. Just go ahead and start. Tartar gradually dissolves on the Complete Mouth Care System. For many people, it all dissolves off. Other people may need to have one more dental cleaning for the hygienist to get it all off, and then it won't come back as long as you are doing the system.
I started using your system last month but my teeth got extremely sensitive and discoloured. I am using exactly thebsame products that you have recommended. Any ideas why this could be happening ?
Do you mean they got staining on them? If so, here is what Dr. Ellie has said elsewhere about staining on the system: "Teeth staining: “Good stains” are seen on teeth when dental disease has been rapidly controlled, when the remnants of thick plaque and harmful bacteria die off quickly. The debris collects around the tooth, often looking like a dark stain at the gum line. This stain is the sign of improved oral health, less bleeding, and a healthier mouth and gums. A dental cleaning will quickly remove this kind of staining and leave the healthier teeth pristine and white. "If you do not have a cleaning within a couple of months of starting the complete system, the sudden improvement in your oral health may result in a thin band of stain forming around the edges of your teeth at the gum line. This staining is not a problem, is not permanent, and is not at all unhealthy. This stain is dead plaque debris that has shriveled up and formed a hair-like deposit around the edge of your teeth. One cleaning at the dentist will remove this band of debris. “This staining is a common problem that I have to find a way to address: 1. Are you using the Mouthwatchers brushes that I recommend? You must get away from fear of brushing too hard. It's not true and you will not do damage by brushing - you will get rid of these stains! 2. Do you let your brushes dry for 24 hours between uses? Never soak them in anything or they will get too soft. 3. Are you brushing this area of your mouth where you are seeing the stains? Aim at these areas first, when you have the most toothpaste on your brush, and before you do the gum massage, etc - this is almost always superficial debris that just takes a bit more work to remove. 4. Are you using the system 2x daily? You will get staining if more plaque forms on teeth every 12 hours during the first months - before the oral bacteria have been balanced. In the future you may be able to skip a time or two - but not in the first months. 5. Do you stop eating and drinking completely - not even water - after the xylitol at the end of meals? This allows the new healthy protective biofilm to form, and it is this biofilm that will stop your teeth from accumulation of this debris. You may also want to have a Zellies mint last thing at night before sleeping. 6. This stain is not a health problem - just no one likes a dark stain. But it is superficial debris and will brush off; just use a bit more toothpaste and some more energy on these areas. 7. IF this extra energy and toothpaste trick is NOT ENOUGH to get rid of the stain - then you are going to make a special paste for yourself - Exfoliating paste: Mix together half a teaspoon of granular xylitol with a big squeeze of the Crest Cavity Protection toothpaste. Use this exfoliating toothpaste mixture - aim at the stains first thing every morning (not during the system.…but as you get out of bed in the morning). Just target these stains with this mixture of xylitol crystals + toothpaste. In 3-4 days the staining should have disappeared completely. Then you do not need to keep using this mixture; you can go back to the normal paste as a part of the system.” Regarding sensitivity, are you leaving Listerine in too long? It should be 30-45 seconds. But if you are really sensitive to it, then you may only be able to leave it for a few seconds to be able to tolerate it. The rule is to vigorously swish with it only until it starts to feel hot, and then spit it out. You can start out with only the small number of seconds until it gets hot, and then gradually work your way up to the normal time as your mouth improves. Also, when people have gum bleeding or teeth sensitivity, Dr. Ellie says to brush your gums even harder and even longer on/around the sensitive area. Maybe you aren't brushing your gums hard enough already.
Dr Ellie, I have been using your protocol for close to one year. Overheard a Dr stating to quit all mouthwashes with alcohol since it causes heart issues. Can I omit Listerine from the protocol?
I also was told the same thing by my dentist that I work for. The listerine rep., said that there is no link. I also learned that if your a smoker, and use listerine, due to the essential oils in it, it will increase your risk of oral cancer.
No, you cannot omit Listerine from the Complete Mouth Care System or you likely will not get the same results. Dr. Ellie has been using it on herself and all of her family for over 40 years.
Its as simple as following my Complete Mouth Care System with adequate amounts of xylitol/Zellies mints each day. This should have that problem eliminated within weeks if not days. DrEllie.com
My wife and I are both in our early 70s. We started to religiously following your complete program twice a day starting August 1st. Our teeth feel very clean, however my wifes teeth have now started turning brown! At first it was brown between her teeth, and now they are brown all over! Although that has not happened to me, I feel that your program may be harming her teeth, and may not be for everyone!

Hi Dr. Ellie, when will you make the video you promised about your mouth care system for europeans? cant find any ACT alternative. Sure Ultra Dex you've mentioned (replaces CloSys), but even Listerine Original and Cool Mint have different ingredients when USA vs EU. Also most of the links you have on your amazon, you can find cheaper stores..
Well, glycerol is the same thing as glycerin/glycerine, which Dr. Ellie does not recommend because it is thought to form a coating on teeth that prevents remineralization. Have you thought of trying 100% xylitol granules/crystals? It works the same as gum or mints.
What if you're someone without your consent had sealants put on when you were a child, is there anyway to get them off without a dentist scrapping them off? Interestingly when I mentioned to my mom after a dental exam that I had sealants, she said she didn't know I had those put on my teeth. She thinks they just randomly decided to do that during an appointment, at some point, when I was a child.
I am going on a 12 week elimination diet.. no xylitol 😢 I had sealant's and gluten intolerant. My sealants are still on some of my teeth @ 58. I still had loads of cavities.
Great video. Can you do a video explaining how building up good bacteria in the mouth with xylitol works together with your protocol which cleans the mouth amazingly (6month on it) but I feel guilty about if its killing all the good bacteria I helped to build up with xylitol??!!! 😅
Hi Ellie, sorry for the slightly unrelated question but I have your whole system with UK equivalents. My question is... Is vaping as bad as sugar for the teeth? I use a 50/50 vape of vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol with nictotine and flavouring. Am I harming my teeth? I quit tobacco but can't quite give up fully just yet. Would I be able to neutralise acidity from any potential baddies with xylitol in the meantime? Many thanks. Praying this works.. I have cavities in my wisdom teeth and a couple of pockets and probably periodontal disease but not ready to get any of them filled before giving this a proper go.
hello Dr Ellie, i have made my own toothpaste, what do you think? bicarb coconut oil peroxide 3% peppermint oil xylitol i also heavily use a vape Martin
Bicarb (baking soda), coconut oil and hydrogen peroxide all are not recommended by Dr. Ellie because they kill good oral bacteria and disrupt the protective oral biofilm
Dr Ellie, i have been using your system for about 6 months and have been pleased with the results. Except that just recently i noticed that there are dark stains between my teeth, have started back flossing some to see if that would help but it hasn't. I chew a LOT of Ice Breakers gum with xylitol, sometimes 10 or more pieces one after the other, and wonder if that could be causing this.
That kind of gum has ingredients in it that Dr. Ellie says to avoid. You should look for a different kind of xylitol to take, because a better one would likely work a lot better for you. It could be the gum that is causing the whole system to not work as well, but there are other things it could possibly be too, like not brushing hard enough. Here is what Dr. Ellie has written elsewhere about staining: "Teeth staining: “Good stains” are seen on teeth when dental disease has been rapidly controlled, when the remnants of thick plaque and harmful bacteria die off quickly. Xylitol is a pre-biotic to feed the good oral bacteria. It also has a hygroscopic property - which means it pulls a flow of saliva into the mouth. This stimulated saliva is packed with minerals - that can heal your teeth - and immune cells that help to heal your gums. This is why it is good not to eat or drink anything for an hour ++ after you have had a little xylitol. For more information check out the info at Zellies.com
@@dr.elliephillips Yes, but at the end of all of it aren't you still swallowing all the saliva with xylitol even if you don't eat or drink for a good period after chewing the gum. I tried it for a month and it made me nauseous every time I chewed, yet I endured. I introduced slowly and worked dup to the recommended dosage. But the nauseousness never went away. So that made the process unpleasant and I didn't buy more after it finished. I would love the benefits of Xylitol, I just cant chew it. Have been on the rest of the program for 4 months now and have seen improvement. Just added the Slate electric flosser to my routine and shocked at the additional improvement - and so easy to do versus hand flossing.
@@kurs1122 I do not suggest that you need ANY floss so I do not know what kind of liquid you are putting in the water flosser. I think you may not be fully aware of the specifics of my Complete Mouth Care System. DrEllie.com
i had that problem and tried oil pulling. 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil with a drop of oregano or rosemary essential oil, swish around mouth for 30 minutes twice a day and pressure pain went away also heat-cold pain went away. YMMV btw, i used Doterra brand essential oil and other oils may work too but oregano was what worked for me but switched to rosemary since wife complained about my pizza breath, LOL
That was a very flawed study that said that and Dr. Ellie has addressed that in her articles and another video on here that she made. Xylitol can be gum, mints or 100% xylitol granules/crystals. Take at least 6-7 grams total per day in small 1 gram doses (no need to use any more than 10g/day). If you use less than 5 grams per day, it will not be enough to have any benefit. If you use gum, chew it for 2-5 minutes and then spit out. Let the other types dissolve in the mouth.
@ started protocol about 6 months ago I don’t do listerine and do aloe dent instead it’s not got any worse but not gone yet but think maybe got a little better. I think the sealants rly helped me tho
I have been on the program with 100% compliance for 32 days and feel that it is helping me 100%. However, my tongue is very much white-coated,particularly in the mornings upon wakening. I used to be able to brush it clean, prior to the program, but then it was never as heavy as it is now. And I could do it with just tooth paste. Not so now. It is much thicker and the best approach I’ve found is some brushing with baking soda. But it only gets to about as clean as it used to be before I needed to even clean it. I don’t know that it is giving me bad breath. And I don’t know if it is one of the rinses, or what. It’s just one of those things. Any suggestions? I am 63 yo. Thanks in advance!

@@dr.elliephillips Thank you for your response, Dr. Ellie. I am absolutely certain I am using the correct, specific products, Zellie mints and gum every meal, between, probably 10g a day, amounts, timing, etc. Otherwise, I also have included some xylitol crystals that claim to be of 100% and are branded Herbalia, sold on Amazon in 1 lb bags. Closys ultra sensitive, original listerine, the smaller act, crest paste, etc. I’ve learned it all from your vids and do understand the importance of the correct products. The white I am talking about is evenly distributed on the tongue. It is not as if it can be scraped off. In fact, it can’t be. Well, I guess it could be with the removal of flesh with a very sharp object. It’s as if in the hairs, for lack of better term. I said brushing it with baking soda works best, but Crest probably works just as well. But it needs to be rigorous. I’ve only used the baking soda a few times recently just to experiment. I’m experiencing absolutely no Tatar formation on the inside of my lower teeth these days and my gums and mouth feel great. I will start by eliminating the xylitol crystals, stick with mints and gum and go from there. It’s one of those things that kinda snuck up on me, I believe. I don’t think it happened immediately. I’ll report back. Thanks for everything!
I will also add that the Listerine does give me a burning sensation on the tongue all the while when rinsing with it. Nowhere else. No problem with any other products.
Reminds me of the candida infection I had in my mouth and coating my tongue. I had to take an oral anti-fungal drug for 3 months to get rid of it. Ask you doctor
Dr. Ellie believes that only sodium fluoride is beneficial to strengthen teeth, and none of the other types of fluoride. Also, strength is important. The one she recommends is sodium fluoride in a very dilute 0.05%. (And never to swallow it.)
I was concerned about this, too. When I question my biochemist, who also recommends Xylitol as a mouthwash to swallow. She replied only in people who consume huge amounts example processed foods containing Xylitol. I still choose to spit the mouthwash out, and the mints if I'm at home.
@@karynanne4779 that’s the thing, I use multiple mints a day…sometimes 6 or more ( trying to save myself from future dental work) and you’re supposed to let it dissolve in your mouth so you’re consuming it, even though it’s not in food, it’s still being consumed…:/
@classicalbadgirl yes, I believe it's still not a risk factor at these low doses. However, I also don't feel I have other contributing factors that would make me in a high-risk category for heart attacks/strokes.
Hi Dr Ellie,iv been looking at starting your complete mouthcare system soon,iv got all products apart from zellies mints/gums,could you recommend an alternative, please? 🙏 Also can I swap ACT mouthwash to colgate fluorigard? Thanks 😊
You could try 100% xylitol granules/crystals as it works the same as mints or gum. Yes, Dr. Ellie has approved Colgate Fluorigard as a substitute for ACT for UK people who cannot find ACT.
'October 4, 2024 *Water Fluoridation Was a ‘Sacred Cow’ - What Happens Next?* For years, even as he worked in nonprofit organizations like the American Cancer Society and Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, Rick North didn’t suspect water fluoridation was hazardous to human health. “I always thought fluoridation was fine,” North said. “All I’d ever heard was, ‘It’s safe and effective.’” But when North received a phone call 12 years ago from a friend who asked him to review the science on water fluoridation - specifically a 2006 report by the National Academy of Sciences - what he ended up reading “was unbelievable,” he said. “Right away I could see this [science] was a direct contradiction to the statements from fluoridation promoters,” North said. “So based on this, I changed my mind.” (Source: The Defender. I have taken a firm stand in the MIDDLE of this fluoride story - because we have to understand the difference between the different fluoride compounds, strength of fluoride products and if you are drinking them or applying them topically. The story of fluoride is really interesting and it is easy to see how this all occurred... I try to teach people the truth about fluoride - and I have spent years defending topical application of dilute sodium fluoride but working to get artificially-added fluoride out of our water supplies.

Yes, her system used properly, with the right products and all the correct techniques, remineralizes teeth. All of teeth, not just edges.
Xylitol
One of my sons got resin over his molars, didn't prevent decay eventually.
Dr Ellie, would you please say which ultradex to use instead of closys?
Thank you
I have never seen her write any certain Ultradex; she usually just writes Ultradex. You would need to compare ingredients in the different Ultradexes to see which one is closest to Closys Ultra Sensitive.
I have never heard of sealants. Maybe they are only used in some countries. Thank for the explanation Dr Ellie.
Loving your system, but I’m a little worried Crest has reformulated their toothpaste (the front of the box now says “Plus”)…is it still ok to use?
Thanks for asking this question, Sharon! I emailed Procter & Gamble this week about this very issue. They emailed me back and said that indeed it is now called Crest Plus Cavity Protection. Upon my initial inspection on my own it seems it’s the same Ingredients on the box. I would like to what the doc says about it. It makes me nervous when the companies do this kind of thing.
@@prknride453 So did Dr Ellie answer this question?
@@kurs1122 hello. Someone from Zellie’s responded. It is the same toothpaste formulation so no worries. 👍🏻
They have taken click bait headlines and obviously don’t understand how oral health works. I really cannot stop all the ridiculous stuff said on YT.

have you done a video on how to reverse cavities?
She talks about this all the time. The main thing is xylitol. And her Complete Mouth Care System does amazing things for oral health too and boosts the speed of xylitol results.
Can sealants be removed by dentists?
Hi, Dr.
In my country zellie xylitol gum is not available...do you think orbit and happydent are a good option..??
Try just raw xylitol crystal, which is 100% xylitol.
I started using your system last month but my teeth got extremely sensitive and discoloured. I am using exactly thebsame products that you have recommended. Any ideas why this could be happening ?
Do you mean they got staining on them? If so, here is what Dr. Ellie has said elsewhere about staining on the system:
"Teeth staining: “Good stains” are seen on teeth when dental disease has been rapidly controlled, when the remnants of thick plaque and harmful bacteria die off quickly.
“This staining is a common problem that I have to find a way to address:
Then you do not need to keep using this mixture; you can go back to the normal paste as a part of the system.”
Regarding sensitivity, are you leaving Listerine in too long?
I am interested in this too.
I also was told the same thing by my dentist that I work for. The listerine rep., said that there is no link. I also learned that if your a smoker, and use listerine, due to the essential oils in it, it will increase your risk of oral cancer.
I had sealant as a child and became gluten sensitive at 27 :( I didn't realize there was a possible connection. Thanks for sharing.
No, you cannot omit Listerine from the Complete Mouth Care System or you likely will not get the same results. Dr. Ellie has been using it on herself and all of her family for over 40 years.
Why can l not buy my kit in Australia,
Can you do a video on how to get rid of a white tongue
Its as simple as following my Complete Mouth Care System with adequate amounts of xylitol/Zellies mints each day.
This should have that problem eliminated within weeks if not days.

My wife and I are both in our early 70s. We started to religiously following your complete program twice a day starting August 1st.
Have you seen where she authorized Colgate Fluorigard for an ACT substitution?
Can I use the pür gum brand? It' has
Xyliyol, gum base, gum Arabic, natural flavors, glycerol, Barnabas wax , tocopherols
I am going on a 12 week elimination diet.. no xylitol 😢
I had sealant's and gluten intolerant. My sealants are still on some of my teeth @ 58.
I still had loads of cavities.
Dear Ellie, Do teeth filed before pregnancy cause miscarriage? plz
Great video. Can you do a video explaining how building up good bacteria in the mouth with xylitol works together with your protocol which cleans the mouth amazingly (6month on it) but I feel guilty about if its killing all the good bacteria I helped to build up with xylitol??!!! 😅
Dr. Ellie has said many times that none of the products she recommends kill good bacteria, so please do not worry.
I have cavities in my wisdom teeth and a couple of pockets and probably periodontal disease but not ready to get any of them filled before giving this a proper go.
hello Dr Ellie, i have made my own toothpaste, what do you think?
bicarb
coconut oil
peroxide 3%
peppermint oil
xylitol
i also heavily use a vape
Martin
Clay IS better, with coco !
Does the xylitol gum have any other ingredients that may not be good for your teeth?
That kind of gum has ingredients in it that Dr. Ellie says to avoid. You should look for a different kind of xylitol to take, because a better one would likely work a lot better for you. It could be the gum that is causing the whole system to not work as well, but there are other things it could possibly be too, like not brushing hard enough. Here is what Dr. Ellie has written elsewhere about staining:
"Teeth staining: “Good stains” are seen on teeth when dental disease has been rapidly controlled, when the remnants of thick plaque and harmful bacteria die off quickly. What does the xylitol do ?
Dr. Ellie, how can a tooth be saved from root canal when just starting to feel sensitive to pushing down (actually sometimes feel sometimes not)
i had that problem and tried oil pulling.
Some say it causes cancer which i dont believe. But di you have to chew six a day for the full benefits and how long should you chew for?
That was a very flawed study that said that and Dr. Ellie has addressed that in her articles and another video on here that she made. Xylitol can be gum, mints or 100% xylitol granules/crystals. Take at least 6-7 grams total per day in small 1 gram doses (no need to use any more than 10g/day). If you use less than 5 grams per day, it will not be enough to have any benefit. If you use gum, chew it for 2-5 minutes and then spit out. Let the other types dissolve in the mouth.

Do you think that fluoride is beneficial?
Dr. Ellie believes that only sodium fluoride is beneficial to strengthen teeth, and none of the other types of fluoride. Also, strength is important. The one she recommends is sodium fluoride in a very dilute 0.05%. (And never to swallow it.)
I follow your system and love it BUT they say xylitol causes strokes heart attacks? Is that true?
For every remedy there's an opposition "expert". I spit xylitol out because it irritates my throat so never use in food.

You could try 100% xylitol granules/crystals as it works the same as mints or gum. Yes, Dr. Ellie has approved Colgate Fluorigard as a substitute for ACT for UK people who cannot find ACT.
'October 4, 2024 *Water Fluoridation Was a ‘Sacred Cow’ - What Happens Next?*
For years, even as he worked in nonprofit organizations like the American Cancer Society and Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, Rick North didn’t suspect water fluoridation was hazardous to human health.
“I always thought fluoridation was fine,” North said. “All I’d ever heard was, ‘It’s safe and effective.’”
But when North received a phone call 12 years ago from a friend who asked him to review the science on water fluoridation - specifically a 2006 report by the National Academy of Sciences - what he ended up reading “was unbelievable,” he said.
“Right away I could see this [science] was a direct contradiction to the statements from fluoridation promoters,” North said. “So based on this, I changed my mind.” (Source: The Defender. See comments for link).
