I reform brass for my 410 - to get full forming I stand them in a pan with about 1/2 inch of water, torch heat them to color change, and tip them over into the water. Works well for me. Rifle brass is built for + or - 50,000 psi and hot loads in .410 are substantially less than 20,000 psi (close to proof load). I cannot see or find any damage to the reformed cases after more than 10 loads. I use an NEF partner 410 to form my cases and a homemade sizing die to uniform the cases. All my loads use card and fiber wads - I see no pressure signs on my fired cases. Be safe and work up loads for your guns. P.S. - 777 black powder substitute works well in my guns - no major fowling or cleaning issues.
Yeah what this person says. I didn't read this until after I left my comment so it's long winded version of what you stated. And I agree with what you stated.
This is very interesting, CW. I've always been interested in brass shot shells. I'm going back to watch the previous video. It already has a ton of views.
I watched this video and kept stopping to zoom in on the base and the ring showing on top edge of web/base of the case. Im not sure how your sizing die is set or so on however with the blowout showing up and neck stays or so you really might have a pressure issue. And because your working a brass not really skeived or thin as brass 410 bore brass is supposed to be, I would very much consider annealing the brass after fire forming and everytime their after as it work hardning each time used could create pressure spikes and issues . This might actually stop the bulging. And im not claiming I know anything. I do load for .410 occasionally but I'm by far an expert . I do believe that brass designed for much higher pressures at longer times might need to be thined lightly also. Maybe. Depends on how the annealing performance turns out. Just a thought.
Good morning David! I agree my first few attempts didn't have the aggressive annealing that I have learned is very helpful in forming up this brass. With hi power rifle brass it is very easy (most over anneal Not too often, but too long in flame) to anneal too long and "destroy" your brass. You're very true, when stating, brass work hardens with every use. As for fully forming out. You are also onto something. This is rifle brass designed for 50k ish psi. Running @ 9-12k psi will not move brass in and near the web. So it likely will always be a bit "wasp waisted". It is not a problem really. Thanks for the time with your reply. I enjoy comments such as yours! Aint reloading great!! ❤️🩹💥🇺🇸👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸❤️🩹❤️🩹
As you know I use 444 marlin cases. However looking at the your case's has me wondering about the slight bottle neck issue wondering. Forgive me if my bad eyes are not interpreting this incorrectly. It appears to be mostly formed, leading to think a 41 mag sizer die, lubed neck and just deep enough to finish the neck expansion. Maybe 429. For me pressure is not an issue because I do use BP. I've not been traditionally a shotgun reloader until recently, and brass cases only, and don't have on hand shotshell smokeless propellants. Have lot's of BP on hand. Single shots makes for easy clean up. Just bouncing some thoughts out loud. Not this morning if I'm even coherent. Mountain man

Morning Danny!
I suspect you're correct. Altho I annealed I probably should anneal farther down the case.
I think that's what you need to do to get a better formed case.

Yeppers I would. Closer to the base . Far less pressure in the shot shell that rifles
@@dannyrowe6506 what brand and caliber brass are you using?
I like using the Elmer's glue on top of the overshot card as well, takes a few days to dry properly but seals it up well.

I wonder if you could make a “sizing rod”that you could force down with a press to them out?
@@tripplebeards3427 Absolutely mandrel die could be used. But they are designed to open a neck. Used full length would likely be problematic.
