Very interesting!! I've not started shotshell loading yet, but it's very interesting to me. I like the idea of being able to make some custom projectiles with more success than typical metallic loading. This video has sparked my interest in it again, lol. Have to start digging into the options available out there again soon it sounds like. Thanks for this video! Have a great week!!
I've been making similar slug loads but with mine I don't roll crimp them. I just put a card on top and glue it that way the shells. Last a long time. I could shoot them several times without the roll crimp destroying the plastic Shell
Give it a try, youll probably like it. Plastic 410 hulls are hard to find these days, so you want them to last and actually after you shoot themThey look exactly the same as before you loaded it.
One other thing go a little easy on the glue cause it really sticks to the plastic Really well you just need little specs on there I've been using Elmer's glue all
This is a video found through a different content creator. One that i find quite interesting interesting. .410 by far is my favorite all time shotgun round. I use when not using factory slugs i reload my hulls with patched .395 round ball. Falling back into my muzzleloading anchor. That stump cup reminds me of a new product of the late 70's called the poly patch, by butler creek, for round ball patching. It also has me thinking in other directions as well. Oddly enough enough I was looking into 410 slug and mold options just this week. Also magtec brass hulls tend to have a larger inside the case diameter than do plastic. At times I to many thoughts to share through a comment section, especially my visual impairment .
That's a hard manual to get in Canada, I tried many times, either out of stock or unavailable most of the time. Ballistic Products are very expensive in Canada.
Turns out you can use Matt's Bullets .41 cal hollow base wad cutters as perfect .410 slugs. Cheap and they fly perfect and straight with 16 grains of 300-MP powder. Give them a try. Just use a nitro card over the powder, a 1/2" fiber cushion wad and then as many nitro cards as needed to get the column height right for your hull.
@Lawraven, I want to do this but I'm a newbie: with the nitro cards and fiber cushion wad, there is no other (plastic) wad involved? Also, I'll use 16 gr of H110 instead of the 300-MP. Thanks!
Hello. I've had the stump wads sitting here for many years,,, Just never go to it. THANKS! I wish you also showed the loaded shell, & how your cutting & roll crimping the shortened hull. Wondering,,, single shot,, how short you could actually go with the loaded .410 hull? Reduce the number of filler wads & or cards? or would it be best to totally 'fill' the guns chamber? After all, it seems 'short rounds' are being made for just about every shotgun gauge now,,, except .410!? One other reply that I seen, said to put Elmers glue on top of the loaded bullet to hold it in.? Save those casings! have YOU tried that one yet? One other question, Please? ABOUT, what was the percentage of shots/ loaded backwards wad-cutter rounds, that actually made it 100yds down range with wad intact,,, everything still glued together? ( wish I seen you shoot a group!? ;>)
Thanks for the comments JDO! I make them to length required for wad column. Most all make it to 100 now. When I was first trying most made it to 100 but very obvious when they didn't.
Good morning!! NOT a idiot question!! With lower velocities and especially with shotguns and airguns where you may not have rotational stability. Weight forward designe's will be more accurate. By using the bullet "backwards" I get two benifits. A good tapered base to glue to my tapered insert stump wad & most of the mass of the projectile out front that once "pushed" out of barrel, can "pull" remainder of combined projectile toward target. It works very well IF parts can stay connected. 🙏❤️🩹🙏❤️🩹

Ooh PLEASE LMK if ya figure THAT ONE OUT!!! 😝👍🏼😋
There is so much about reloading I don't know about. That's why I stick to the simple reloading stuff
Ill help any way I can brother! I been doing this for a long time.
@@cw2a Thank you

I have not tried just gluing. Accept for my case forming brass shells. I glue those.

I remember snd tried those poly patches. Not great for me. These in a shot shell casing work wonderfully!!
Morning man! 😜🙏❤️🩹🙏😜
@cw2a correct the poly patch didn't work well for me either. Not many positive thoughts from others either
Afternoon cw looks great thanks for sharing
Thanks Julio!
LOOKIN GOOD Pard , Can`t wait to see you try them out ..

Looks like a good 410 round. Thanks for the info.

@@cw2a 300-mp runs a little cooler (I think) and @ lower pressure so it extends the life of your expensive 410 hulls.
You have a link to matrs bullets.

@@Raven_of_Doom no, no plastic wad is used. You are essentially making a custom buffer between the powder and the slug.
Thanks!
No problem!❤🤘🏼🤟🏽💪🏼♥️
Very cool cw that would definitely do good on a coyote or fox or what ever around the farm.
💯💯🇺🇸♥️💪🏼
@CW 40 cal hollow points maybe cool in 410
@@jamespugh Check out last 410 video. I run 40 SWC backwards so HP become hollow base. But the wad cutter .410 slugs I made in last 410 video are HP!!
That is super cool and very interesting CW
Thanks Chris!! ♥️🙏😋
