I know awards don’t mean everything.... but I really want Michaela to win all of them. This woman deserves all the accolades because everything she’s created has been incredible
I love how they talk about sex and sexual assault in a truly intersectional way. All the factors are included with intention and are not watered down into an after thought. All the factors exist at the same time and place. AMAZING!!!!
*Daaayum! Can we just talk about how amazing the lighting, coloring & makeup is for Michaela!? Like her skin in GLOWING in this set, so beautiful the way the light bounces and reflects off*
@Etta James I hear you person leaving those comments.... she's definitely both and all things right? Inner and outer beauty, it's ok to admire both... but yeah we shouldn't miss the substance. As a woman and a writer I feel deeply inspired by her to embrace my own unique beauty as we all should... And always work with people who support that and work in a way that supports that, as is the case here!
Etta James stop being triggered. Only a racist would be triggered by someone saying a black persons skin looks beautiful in some lighting. What the heck Is your problem?! you do NOT deserve the name ETTA JAMES. She would have lifted another woman up not chat so much rubbish. TFOH 🙄
I'm at a time in my life when I take joy from seeing people thriving and achieving. The world needs more Michaela Coels. This series took on a lot of issues and made me think about a lot of stuff I really hadn't considered from my position of privilege. Most importantly, it explored nuance. Social media has reduced discourse to polarised views. Just brilliant writing.
What a thoughtful and genuine compliment. As a creator and storyteller those where her goals. She would be grateful for your having been moved and challenged.
Stephanie Teko Malonda I was DEFINITELY thinking insecure!!!! Because that is the ONLY PLACE I’ve seen lighting on black skin look so GLORIOUSLY PERFECT!!! I haven’t checked but is this the same one?
Michaela is a fantastic writer and performer, and with this show she shows that she can do anything and she is here to stay! I can't wait to see everything she does in her lifetime
I love how proud she is of herself and her work. You can just see it every time she finishes explaining a scene and sharing her thoughts. She is so brilliant and I can’t wait to see more of her work in the future. Also just watched the finale and OMG I just loved this series so freaking much.
i binged this series last night and i gotta say .. i really enjoyed it... the filming.. the underlying tones.. i see so many hidden things.. i can write papers based on scenes from this series.. wonderful. and sad. but wonderful. we should look at our behaviours always no matter our traumas. love and compassion and honesty above all. God bless all.
Being 70 years old today, having a wild time when I was 18 till 30, I wonder if I could have survived this living today. WOW, I loved every minute of watching this series, crated by such a wonderful Lady
It is so nice to see Michaela look and sound so proud when talking about her art and how cleverly written it is. So happy that she is achieving the success she deserves! ❤️
This was the most intense episode for me. Stood up hours thinking about it. Enjoyed having Michaela’s explanation of how the themes of power, loneliness, and destruction are interwoven here.
With the whole explanation is just Art👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 i need her to get SEVERAL awards! I would even sign a petition! So proud of her! Ya know i have one of her old poetry cds she use to do when she fin uni. Loved her from day! Plus shes so nice and sincere!
I love the way MC explains the reasoning, the ideas, thought process & the inspiration behind this episode; SO interesting! I had a few lightbulb moments... very excited to watch the rest of the series!!
I have never seen this show. I didn't even know who Michaela Coel was until a FB ad for t he New Yorker led me to look her up. Everything about her is just mesmerizing. Her words, her ideas, her skin, her eyes, her smile, everything. That lighting BTW is outstanding! I have to see this show now! Thank you Michaela.
she is brilliant we are so lucky to have people like michaela take control of their narrative and the stories and characters they want to share. its an absolute privilege
Michaela bloody Coel!!!! I'm just in awe sitting here and listening to her thought process and her breaking down the symbolism and metaphors of this pilot. She really is a creative in every sense of the word. A creator, actually. I'm so proud of her sharing her light and word/world's with us. It inspires me so much to see an artist being so passionate and involved with their art, and also teaching us/educating us/explaining it to us so that we can get a deeper insight into it & even take more from it. We love you Michaela! Good job! Keep on and keep it up! All the best to other creators and creatives out there :) This is what our work should aim towards: telling a story, and telling it in a way that we are bringing people into it :) To make beautiful art :)
WOW. Incredible work by the gaffers for setting up that lighting to highlight her beautiful, dark complexion. Expertly done. More lighting technicians should take note.
I love that line about one-ness. That sounds like such a simple concept but it has such deep meaning. Love hearing Miacheala talk - it could literally be anything, but everything is so impactful and intelligent.
We are all creatives and creators by birth. This talented and beautiful woman is a vivid reminder to us all to unleash our talents for the world. I've part watched 'Bubble Gum', finished 'I will destroy You' and 'Black Earth Rising' and inspired to push my own projects out there. We've got this 😘 Who else is inspired?
I’m so glad to find this interview. I was wondering about the jumper if they had two for filming in the different locations. I love watching the tv show again and again to appreciate the every little details.
The poster to me felt like a reminder of the assault. Much like the flashbacks Arabella experiences, it randomly floats to the surface (or falls down from the wall) every now and then. I love that the actual meaning was about water and control! ❤️
I remember thinking about the title screen and how "I may destroy you" could have applied to many different scenarios and characters per episode, including Bella speaking to herself "i may destroy you [me]" . I'm glad MC addressed that as being her intention. Such a powerful show, I'm so glad I took the time to watch it.
She looks so BEAUTIFUL!! I love the way there's a deep meaning to everything. Love the theme of water & what it represented in these scenes. She's an absolute GENIUS!! x
Beautifully broke down it’s intriguing to learn about the thinking and all the intricate details of each scenes and locations. I kept looking at her sticking up the poster. Good concepts around understanding our own boundaries, understanding herself her powers. Also what happens when trauma is left unresolved. It was amazing l am still processing it. 🎭👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎥❤️✊🏾
Why didn't IMDY get as much attention as Normal People and Promising Young Woman? There are more questions, than answers. But I was truly surprised after covering all three for my series Lessons of Life & Love. There was marked difference between them, with IMDY notably lagging behind in online discussions and article coverage. Who knows why. It's an eye-opening, fresh take, that can teach us all A LOT.
Really interesting interview I wanna watch the show again after hearing the writers interpretation!! Really wish all the comments here weren’t focused on her appearance
Check out the full interview here: bit.ly/MichaelaCoelGQHype
What moisturizer does she use?
pro trick: you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Aron Vihaan yup, I have been using flixzone} for since november myself :)
I can’t handle the way the light is hitting her skin 😍
Your point is????

Likewise.... I should focus on what she's saying but she is glowing !! What a beauty ..
@@topofthepop09 bro chill 😂 she's is GLOWING!
She’s so beautiful
This show is one of the best examples of tackling relevant, contemporary themes without seeming forced. CONGRATS MC!!
Dino, true that mate
Storylines and relationships and representation like this show has only seem forced most of the time because they're never usually included.
It’s honestly one of the most important series in recent history
200%
This is true especially the American shows they go into full monologues that would not come up in a regular conversation
Those cheekbones destroyed me
And me
😂❤️
Especially when she shaved her hair ❤️❤️😩
Zoe Kravitz, who?! 😂😂😂
😭😭😭❤❤❤love her
Michaela's back hurts from carrying all this talent !
Her mind
RIGHT?!
And the mind never ages - brilliant
She’s brilliant
HER VERSATILITY
All my sapiophiles stand and be accounted for.

“what are you afraid of if nothing else is there, you’re afraid of yourself..”
Can we talk about how cute she is every time she presses the play button?!
Yes we can!!! 😍😍😍
*Daaayum! Can we just talk about how amazing the lighting, coloring & makeup is for Michaela!? Like her skin in GLOWING in this set, so beautiful the way the light bounces and reflects off*

Give this woman her accolades ! The detail she puts into her project , all that depth 👏👏
Whoever was in charge of the lighting here deserves an Oscar. The way it hits her skin is so so beautiful, I'm about to cry
"boundaries, borders, and spectrums"... this show was beautifully crafted, the most refreshingly blurry show i've watched this year.
She looks so proud, I'm so glad because this show is a work of genius.
This show is amazing. It's feel so real and raw. 6th episode was so good.
In amerika. Theres only been 4episodes, tonite will be the 5th. Was the show released earlier in the U.K.?
Establish Resist they air 2 episodes a week here in the uk we’re on the 10th out of 12.
@@MsWisdom38 Please tell me if Biago ever stops being racist?
you can really see this is completely hers, the passion for the details and how each of her ideas leads her into the next - its incredible
Did the guy who did the lightening in Moonlight light this because wow 🤩
Stephanie Teko Malonda I was DEFINITELY thinking insecure!!!! Because that is the ONLY PLACE I’ve seen lighting on black skin look so GLORIOUSLY PERFECT!!! I haven’t checked but is this the same one?
Get out of my head!
Can we say, HYDRATED??
I'm a creative and so inspired by the whole series. I enjoy how it's the perspective from a black woman and can really relate to the story
Michaela is a fantastic writer and performer, and with this show she shows that she can do anything and she is here to stay! I can't wait to see everything she does in her lifetime
Her joy is so palpable that it’s contagious. I can’t help but to smile when she smiles. She is living and loving life.
I love hearing about her creative process, it's so interesting.

WOW. Incredible work by the gaffers for setting up that lighting to highlight her beautiful, dark complexion. Expertly done. More lighting technicians should take note.
Imagine being THIS talented
She's such a deep thinker, I just love listening to her thought process. What a talent!
I love seeing a creator and actor reacting to their own work without that cliche and self-deprecating, "oh I hate watching myself" schtick. Awesome.
I love that line about one-ness. That sounds like such a simple concept but it has such deep meaning. Love hearing Miacheala talk - it could literally be anything, but everything is so impactful and intelligent.

THE LIGHTINGGGGG 😍💖😍💖
Wow I wish she could comment on every episode. there’s so many layers, you can tell how passionate and deeply thought out every part of it is👏👏
Water and it’s many metaphors is EVERYTHING.
She is absolutely GORGEOUS.
