A very well-done video! I was impressed with the effort put into the editing. I chuckled toward the end where you said you don't like the Restoration Project immediately before doing a Q&A with me, one of the key figures behind it. Just humorous timing, but I respect your honesty. Funnily enough, the guy who had asked me to re-record all my Cassidy lines got back to me shortly after we talked, so it looks like something will be done with my new re-recorded lines after all. And please don't worry about 'bothering' me over the Holidays. It was a welcome distraction. I hope your videos pop off, buddy.
New channel with only 2 videos that seem to have instantly popped off? Damn, good for you! Have you done this before? Because it feels like you were able to pretty seamlessly craft a tone and identity for yourself in these two videos consistently, from your scripting to your presentation and editing. Loved them both and I’m very happy the algorithm served them up to me. Giving you a sub and eagerly awaiting your next follow-up. Happy to support a new growing fellow FO fan, especially one I could learn from. And if you’re interested at all, I have an ongoing series on my channel wherein I talk about how I would design my own original FO game.
Thanks so much! I haven't done UA-cam before but I watch a ton of it which is probably why I can make it look like I know what I'm doing hahahah I checked out your channel, I like the ideas you have for Red State!
Being someone who started on Fallout 3 and never played the originals, I'm always happy to see people's experiences on these classic games and knowing how they play and the lore they introduced to the world. The video is very well edited, I loved the Mortal Kombat references with the Radscorpions (mostly cuz I love the franchise), and I also appreciated how you handled Frank Horrigan as well. Some other videos of Fallout 2 I've seen either don't mention him at all until the boss fight and gloss over it, or spend way too much time talking about him and his lore whenever he's on screen. You found a great balance, only talking about him when he was on screen or relevant, and mentioning the foreshadowing of his final encounter. Now, when are we going to see a Brotherhood of Steel video?
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate you sharing your experience! Frank Horrigan is really cool, but I didn't wanna overstate his importance (Just being the final boss) but I did wanna give him the attention he deserves. I'm glad someone caught the MK reference! As for Brotherhood of Steel... well, that's for another day
Looking forward to the Tactics vid, I dont think any of the fallout tubers i watch have really covered it, plus its gonna he a fresh view. Looking forward to it!!
I had to cut my viewing, and as I return, you got almost 100 more subs! Well done! I played FO2 in 1998, and I was first married to miria (she is as useless as her brother). Then on a second playthrough or reload of the game (Can't really remember... it was 26 years ago... oh god.) I talked to the brother and I finished married with him... Wait what?! I was damn surprised. I didn't care about it, it's my character's problem, not mine ^^' Oh the guardian's robe is just the best. I love it. And Gorris is a lovely companion. Frank horrigan is hard, even with 10 everywhere like him. And the music, pure bangers.
Thanks so much! I definitely don't deserve all the support I've gotten and I appreciate it all so much. I love hearing about the experiences other people have with these games! I do love how the Guardian's Robe is just combat armor but ✨Fashionable✨
I'm pretty confident its concept art. There are tons of mods for them in modern games which is pretty cool. I'd love to see it as a proper helmet tho Thanks for your support!
ARCADE GANNON MENTIONED NEURON ACTIVATION ok ill watch the rest of the video now edit: Another amazing video Tubbz!! It really shines through how much you care about the games and how much love you put into these. I'm super excited to see your video on Tactics! Maybe I'll try playing it before then LOL
Yeah, there's a tonal shift between FO1 and FO2. It's like a movie with the first being a tense survival-drama with bits of action, and the sequel being just as loved, but more of an action movie. In this case, you've got the 'absolute virgininal wastelander, vault dweller fish out of water with very very nasty things all over' vs 'bottom of the barrel wastelander tribal that at least has experience in the waste, but has sticks and spears whereas there are very nasty things with mechano-servo powered armour and expanding civilisation' Looking forward to the FO:T video, as I think that game gets a bit of a kicking unjustly.
Agreed, I do wish that Fallout 2 felt more like "tribal" with different types of spears or something but I get why it isn't. Tactics will be fun to tackle!
Im not far in but commenting early because i watch one of Tim Cain's videos immed.. well almost immediately before this. If you skip the one about police breaking the law.
Yo! Came here as soon as the video came out. Loved your previous video, and this one is even better. Do you have a discord account? I’m interested in making art for the channel, if you ever need it. Also, glad you shouted out Cain’s videos, they’re great. A video on Outer Worlds would be great after the Fallout series.
Wooooohoooo!! I subscribed just to see if you’d cover the sequel 😍 I find it amazing that one of my favorite game franchises was going to initially be released on my birthday of 9/30/97. I know it officially didn’t but for some reason I can’t buy help feel a special connection to the series for just that fact that they planned it in my bday. It just makes me feel special I guess 😅 I first played Fallout 3 as a teenager but I went back much later on in my early 20s to try the first game. It’s fun but the invisible timer always stressed me out as towns would be ravaged by super mutants if I didn’t destroy the base fast enough. I felt much more at ease with the sequel because I think it’s closer in humor/tone to Fallout 3 and it felt like I had more time to do things even after our village was destroyed. I didn’t feel pushed to rush over and destroy the Enclave. Try to not fret over the current YT landscape. Make what you’re excited about and interested in and you’d be surprised the people that will come to watch! I subscribed to I Finished A Video Game because despite never being interested in Prince of Persia in any way whatsoever…their passionate video kept me watching and I figured if they can entertain me with something I’m not even interested in and still enjoy it then I can’t wait to see when they do cover a game series I have interest in. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next review!
I also love how you dedicate a section to LGBT+ representation. Being lesbian who grew up in a…less than desirable state and was a victim of both physical and verbal violence because of my sexuality (was outed by a teacher in a very small Christian school so word traveled lightening fast), it’s quite a comforting feeling. The Sims 1 was also (I imagine) among the first games that included us with a programmer basically telling people in the late 90s to “grow up and get a life” 😂
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences! I really appreciate your kind words. I'll definitely try to keep doing what I enjoy! And I hope you enjoy it! As for the LGBT+ section, it was something that was really important to me so I loved talking about it. I'll definitely talk more about the homophobia and hypocrisy in Caesar's Legion when I get to New Vegas. I definitely agree with the Sims being a "Yeah, they're here, get over it." and I love that so so much. Again, thanks so much for your support!

Fallout Tactics, actually! The forgotten black sheep of the Fallout series! But 3 and New Vegas are definitely coming some day! I could talk about Fallout for years!
reasons why i much prefer Fo2 rather than Fo1: 1. More well done worldbuilding with settlements having intricancy and connections between each other, economically fo1 have its foundations but didnt went that further to explain which kinds of productions each settlement specialized at in order to trade with different settlements, fo2 really used the economic concept of Comparative advantage, exploring that every city focused on producing more of certain resources in order to have a highlight in the world's economy. Vault city being the provider of medical suplies, where NCR provided nearby regions with food (due to their brahmin herd) and water, being the biggest economical power in south california, the NCR also stablished the usage of Gold coins as a trading method, trying to return to the ways of the old world, which as a result, valued the resources of redding, which had a gold mine,etc.... it feels stronger and more well connected. This also influences quest design. 2. The differences in politics and places influence the gameplay either. General rule in fo1 was that you shouldnt hold your gun when entering a different town. In fo2 the rules of each place will depend on their policy and structure. NCR followed the rules that were previously stablished by Fo1 with the addition of Raiders being permanently banned from the city, Anarchic societies such as New reno wouldnt care for such things. its the rule of the strongest, everybody has to have a weapon and know how to fight in order to survive that hole. This wasnt the case with vault city, which was so isolated and restrictive that just wouldnt allow for any outsider to climb into its walls, so the player has to get a day pass to join the city just at mornings and go at night, couldnt enter with drugs and had extremely limited acess to which places he could or couldnt get at without becoming a full citizen. THATS immersion. 3. Evil playtroughts do work. In fo1 this isnt a thing. evil npcs were coded incorrectly and just doing the mainquest gave you way too much good karma, while you didnt have acess to a whole lot of negative karma givers. this meant you literally have to go on a killing spree for no reason in order to get negative karma, which wouldnt work at the end of the day. Fo2 made evil playtroughts awesome. 4. Better itemization: Big guns had literally 3 weapons in Fo1, an extremely low ammount of guns, fo2 has LMGS, multiple miniguns, a variation of the Flamethrower and a bunch more. small guns have more well done weapons, instead of having just 1 smg you have like, 5, theres more armors, better weapon progression,etc... 5. Better build balance: Unarmed is good now, charisma has uses instead of being a dump stat and so do multiple skills, hell, Sneak is extremely great in this game, even steal is better (althought here is because of sheer game design and not skill changes itself). 6. Better companion A.I: No questions. 7. Encounters make sense: instead of people traveling throught the desert in groups of 1 or 3 people, now we have bigger groups that are much better equipped, it not only works better to paint the world as harsh, but its actually dangerous to travel around locations, unlike Fo1 which was a cakewalk. 8. Freedom and CNC: Most of choice and consequence in Fo1 was restricted to instant reputation penalties and people refusing to talk to you, aside from that, ending slides. Fo2 has much more than that. Early on you can irritate Lynette by not doing the Ghoul quest correctly and get permanently banned from Vault city. You think it stopped there? Later on you could find a questline revolving around Jet and how much it caused problems in a lot of different regions in the wasteland, specially in redding. Trying to help, you might try to investigate, tracking the source of the Jet problem in New reno and finding myron. If you ask Myron about a way to heal jet addiction, you will find about a possibility to create a vaccine using a resource that you cant find anywhere else aside from Vault city. Guess what? you was banned from that place, essentially creating a chain of events that lead the entirety of the wasteland to be doomed by jet addiction. Fo2 isnt "quantity over quality", its overall better quality as a whole.
