S22 flip is perfect for me, I want a phone to help discourage me from being in my phone, (it being slower and with a small ass screen will help alot) but at thr same time I still need apps like uber to go to work or like signal to text friends funny too tho because my current phone is a s22 ultra and now I want a s22 Flip
Exactly why I like it, sure you can do everything that you would be able to on a normal smart phone but you won't want to or enjoy it
it's not a dumb phone it's a flip phone, people need to realize the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I had an LG enV3 and I would classify that as a smart phone. it had a fully fledged opera web browser, and full keyboard. and an entire app store that verizon managed. not dumb by any means.
even "dumb" phones from the late 2k's weren't completely dumb.

New feature phones even have youtube, Facebook and whatsapp installed. Smartphones classify as phones that have all the features that feature and dumb phones have + robust modern os like android or ios + touchscreen and more. Feature phones are more like a every day companion, where the smart equivalent is like a companion and a pc in one small box.
most phones pre android 4.0 were called dashboard phones with touch screens,

@@axpuser671 FYI, Symbian is classified as Smartphone. Many people mistake Nokia S60 symbian OS powered phones with Nokia S40 feature phone. S40 and S60 are completely two different thing.
I had a samsung instinct sometime around 2010. It was capable of running Opra mini as a web browser, and if I remember right, had Adobe Flash Support as well, which the iPhone didn't support. Today, I would consider that phone dumb as a bag of potato rocks, but back then, that phone was pretty smart. Although, when placed side by side with the iPhone 3G and 3Gs, the instinct quickly became dumb again.
one thing I don't understand about some smarter phones, is why not just get a unihertz jelly bean if you're going to mostly use the touch screen anyways? idk it doesn't sit right with me if the phone is that smart and it has the equivalent of a keypad sized tumor on the bottom of it that you are mostly going to ignore
This is very true. It’s kind of useless to buy this phone if you were never planning to use the keypad.
It's for older people, esp those who are used to dumbphones.
If you're looking for a cheap phone or if you live in an area where there's a fear for theft, this form factor would help too.
Nah, the smaller screen and hard to use functions makes the phone less accessable and less addicting

@@cvcubes8578 Not necessarily. The flip part of it would seem to vastly improve the durability of the entire phone. Closed, the screen won't take any damage. Open, since it's smaller and still far less exposed like a normal smartphone is, it's still way less likely to take damage. A case for a phone like this would seem useless, it basically is a case lol

8:17 you dont need to download any app. you can choose kika keyboard as input, it use the keypad only.

Oh I was looking for a similar phone for my grandad, I wish this was available in the Czech Republic (with Czech language on it) as he doesn't speak English - he wouldn't have to learn how ro use a digital keyboard on a smartohone 🙈 What a nice device!
You're able to switch to the physical keypad by going to Settings > System > Keyboard and Input and changing it to 12-Key Keyboard, then you can use it on any app.
how well can it run "those apps" like discord, reddit and maybe twitter? and are sideloaded apps like revanced or newpipe viable on the phone?
I wonder can you bind the keypad to games and force the screen vertical in horiz games? if so it may be a halfway decent little portable emulator
There are application to force rotate the screen but I'm not sure emulators can detect the buttons or not but I think they might because these emulators detect volume buttons on "normal" smartphones.

Now I am very happy they are, BECAUSE LOOK AT THAT BEAUTY. It can do everything, looks cool as hell and the screen size is just perfect. When I first saw this phone, I wanted it looks cool and it’s a flip phone. Well it looks heavy duty and it’s I can’t really explain it. All I can say is I want it?
Haha yeah it’s super heavy duty that’s for sure. I made a video around a month or two ago durability testing it.. I ran it over with my car about 15 times and threw it onto the asphalt like a baseball. The back exploded off but.. still worked fine once put together.

hotspot yes, voice type depends on the application that you are using : all google apps yes, search for contacts in contacts phone app no, but it works with the majority of the common apps.

is it possible to download any banking apps and transfer money using this phone (not nfc, just transfering money from one bank acc to another)?
yeah bank apps work and money transfers like zelle, cashapp, etc all work

I get what you mean but, the fact that it's a flip phone should deter you from trying to download these typpa games on that phone. Are they playable? Yes. Is it the best experience? No, for most people getting a cat 22, they probably already have a smart phone (which they can use to play these games). I get it, the point of a dumb phone is to get rid of these fancy features and dumb it down to the most essential ones.
Like by example, I started using my blackberry classic as a work phone (emails and all that). I do have the playstore downloaded it and you'd be surprised at the number of apps you can download because of the android 4.3 run time on BBos 10. But for the most part the apps downloaded from the playstore or the ones that I sideloaded just have a subpar experience, it's so slow and janky. Apple Music (yes I have apple music on my blackberry classic) & Spotify are janky asf, simple fix UA-cam to mp3 to use with the music app ( you can easily edit the album artwork for songs and all that fancy jazz if that really matter to you)
All in all it's a work phone and I don't feel the need to have music on it, as I still carry my iPhone 13 with me but use it less and less. Other apps are kinda janky (actually run pretty well just really slow), I managed to install a weather, news app, sports news. Again not the best experience but gets the job done. No no no no and no you'll never catch me lackin with the uNiHeRtZ tITaN or the sLIm i'd rather buy a Passeport, Key1 or Key2 LE. Blackberry will always be the best business/work phones for corpo dweebs hehehehehe. Maybe some people don't want a real DUMBPHONE, but just a phone old enough to make them less reliant on these fancy features we have nowadays
Your argument for the Keyboard (touchscreen) is valid, but for me this is such a shitty experience that I would simply just call or just use the physical keys. I did not buy a flip phone to have my sumo sausage fingers struggle on a 3 inch display................ shit I just finished the video as I was typping this comment and bro I just gotta say you made me fucking laugh so much hahahahah. It's not a dumbphone but in the hands of a mf who isn't tech savy like us big bro..... This is a dumbphone :)

many people are not aware of the pre installed Kika keyboard that honestly is superior to Old T9 keyboard cuz of its autocorrect and does not take up screen space. you can get it just by changing the keyboard
in '87 i was using a brick at work for a few years. 10 years later a candybar or two and a few flips for 10 more years, then the LG GU 230 Dimsun (lol) slide phone. best phone ever. so then i went for the Nokia 2720. loved that also, but not sure if its hardware or software that would turn the phone off at random. i saw the cat s22 a couple years ago but was too much $. i noticed now price is half what it used to be. got mine from amazon today. chonkier and heavier than expected, but so far loving it. i dont mind that its not dumb, i can still use it as if so. my 2720 would have been retarded with its kaiOS. its mainly for phone and maybe some text. i DL'd the "old T9" app so i can use the keypad without skipping a beat from my older phone and skip the touch screen keyboard. ugh.

It would be even less like a dumb phone if it allowed for an actual Ps1 controller to be plugged into the phone for playing roms. I do that with my A53 phone.
idk some actual dumb phones still use android but they have all the android underpinnings and apk installs disabled, so since android roms are so customizable, having android isn't necessarily mean it's a smart phone, just that it can be one if the phone manufacturers want to
Many of the old "dumbphones" could indeed access the internet, the better ones had something called WAP an internet protocol , and could surf the net, but slow compared to todays electronics

I consider it a dumb phone and the real dumb phones stupid phones for a specific reason. The S22 Flip comes with Android 20, but due to the annoyingly small size and the ability to disable on screen keyboards, it can make web browsing feel like hell, but you can use google assistant to use stuff like google maps and such similar to a Nokia 2780. It's in no way a dumb phone but a midpoint between smartphones ad dumb phones.

I regularly receive about 7k subs a month, and approx 4m views a month. mostly through shorts. long videos get views, but they get views delayed. a video posted about 12 days ago is getting picked up (will an ipad 2 work in 2023) at about 18,000 views. as well a 3 month old video called (gaming on a smartphone), with 75,000 views. It is very important to be persistent here, and enjoy the process. I enjoy doing both thank goodness.

Third, the screen being not too big will have me spending much less time with it and it might end my smartphone addiction

You're missing the point. The reason people switch to a dumbphone is to break out of unhealthy digital habits, not to fulfill a checklist of requirements. The build and technology of the Cat s22 facilitates that, and will help people who are looking for the dumbphone lifestyle, so what's the problem?
You also say dumbphones should not have a touchscreen, but then the most famous dumphone is the Light Phone 2. Seriously, what is the point in trying to police what can and can't help other people along such rigid lines?
just saw this before jumping on a flight. if you can run call of duty on your flip phone, n64 emulators, psp emulators, and run about every app under the sun it's not much of a dumb phone haha.
AGM M7 better option, still touch screen, but no app store. AGM M8 even better.. that thing calls and texts thats about it lol.

I use it to disconnect but have access to things like messenger because some people I need to get ahold of can't keep phone service. Yes it's an android phone and has "access" to apps, but most barely work and takes a ton of time to get through.
