  • A new version of Everything Presence sensor is here - Lite. Smaller but packed sensor that allows easy exchange of mmWave boards to one that you think will work best for you.
    Also, as ESPHome project, it comes with Bluetooth proxy, Lux sensor and Zones - to further enhance presence detection in your Smart Home:

    Thanks for the review BT, very detailed and glad you like it!
    I agree, the thing that needs most improvement is setting up zones visually, this is mostly due to Home Assistant not having a great way of working with zone entities just yet but I'm hoping to make a lot of improvements to the documentation soon and have a few other ideas too.
    One day when we meet up ill teach you the ways of the Scottish Accent 😂

      Zones are super powerful, but can be tricky. Knowing you will have an awesome update on them!
      Looking forward to meet-up 😉😂

    1:39 Hahahaha! "Right-Angle" = 90-degree angle
    I don't know if the "Right-Angle" vs. "Left-Angle" was intended as a pun or not, but I loved it! Keep up the great videos!

    I really like this sensor, been playing with it for a couple of weeks now and the zones are really powerful. I like the GPIO header as well as other things can be added. Nice video as usual 👍

      Great to hear! I didn't even mention headers :) But it does expand on possible use cases.

    Luckily I got this sensor this time without any customs clearance issues 😂👍🏻 The EP1 in the past did 😅 I’m looking forward to testing out the EP light! Thanks for the video dude 👍🏻

      Thanks for the comment! Mine was stuck because they didn't believe the invoice was correct and web listing was legit 😂

      @@BeardedTinker I can feel your pain, as I said, the EP lite didn’t make trouble, but my EP1 from the first selling wave makes me headache, the German customs want many documents, to example a detailed data sheet and some other documents. Finally with a lot of discussions they released it. 👍🏻

      Customs clearance in Belgium asked me to pay 30,81 euro (17,5 costs + 13,21 VAT). With the invoice, I proved that the device only costs 33,95 but they repeated to pay 30,81. Next to the price of the device, I paid 11,95 € of shipping. So, the total package would have cost me 76,71 €... Therefore, I sent it back. Poor Lewis, he made a very nice device but importing from the UK is not a good option.

      @@BartVanLandschoot sorry to hear, I agree with you, good product but terrible to import. Lewis should think about a distribution in a European country.

    Looks to be a great sensor. I’d decided to get some last week, primarily as Bluetooth proxy devices (less hassle and not much more money than building my own), and the mmWave will be useful, but they’re out of stock 😩

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  7 місяців тому

      They do go out of stock very fast! Hopefully soon there will be some more!

    Nice one, I am thinking to apply some neural network with few ld2450s, maybe tensorflow, and feed data from sensors to teach multiple sensor what is going on.

    Hey, thanks for the video! Do you happen to know how I can enable the EPL as a bluetooth proxy? I seem to find bluetooth devices (a bunch of random toothbrushes) but I would like to use it to track the distant to my phone of the closest EPL. Not sure how best to go about that. Thanks!

    Out if interest have you experienced any delay with the occupancy, my sensor seems to take about 3 seconds to change to occupied when someone enter to room?

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  7 місяців тому

      I haven't noticed such a lag - it should be under 1 second if everything is working OK. As this is WiFi, in theory it can be due to WiFi network.

    The Everything Presence Lite also have PIR as EP1?

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  7 місяців тому

      No, it doesn't have PIR. Just mmWave sensor of your choice or the one provided.

    Any idea if we can install espresence on it as well?

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  7 місяців тому

      No, as installing ESPresense would write over current firmware. If someone creates an ESPHome alternative, then this would be possible.

    Does it still work if suddenly your wifi goes down? Also has anybody compared it to Aqara FP2 in terms of speed? I use Aqara fp2 for light automations and they’re almost as quick as a motion sensor.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  5 місяців тому

      Device will work, but without WiFi it wouldn't be able to send any data.
      FP2 is Zigbee device and EP Lite is Wifi device - speed is very similar but depends on your networks and can be subject of other factors for both ZB and WiFi..

      I think this depends if you have AddOn or using ESPHome in docker - due to integration differences.
