I was shipped one a few weeks back, and am testing it now. These presence sensors are like magic, love the control it gives me over a basic motion sensor! The setup process for the Lite was extremely straightforward. Only real improvement I could think of is if you had an injection molded case, could make the fit and finish just a tiny bit nicer!
Yeah, one of the 3D printed cases on the 3 I bought was not great. Getting the plastic nut to tighten on that one was rough. But once set up you can't tell the difference, so I guess it's fine enough. Awesome sensors though.
Founding out this video 6 days later, being super impressed with the device and price. Now i want to buy 2-3 but out of stock. Then reading comments about being sold out in 4 hours makes me a bit sad, but this means the product is super good and requested a lot. Good job
I picked up some EP lites in the first batch. Love the zone support options and I'm experimenting using them in an unusual way, by rotating 90 degrees to act as a Z coordinate rather than X which means i can ignore low level readings and avoid my cats triggering automations/lights
@GamingTrivia1113 I think maybe you answered your own question. The market is starving for this device so it's going to be hard for someone without deeeeeep pockets to outpace demand for awhile.
@@GamingTrivia1113 Because radar presence detecting is really good, and there was nothing like it before. So either you get this, or you solder your own. (I did as it was less then 10 bucks with mediocre radar units).
Big thanks Lewis & ESH order handling team! Just received my EP Lite 2 days after ordering! I see I was one of the lucky ones this time. Another great experience through setup steps, and the unit is running happily in HA fixing a big gap in my previous presence sensing already. ❤
Your story with the EP1 is one of my favorites to tell. I bought 5 of them for my house and 3 of them for my mom's. I just love everything about it and where it came from. Thanks for making so much awesome stuff!
Is it possible to DIY it ourselves? I mean, I have a 3d printer, I can order the PCB and source the components.. so I don't have to wait for them to be on stock 😅
Just received mine and I'm excited to try it out! I would have preferred the presence one, but since it's sold out, I'm happy I managed to get my hands on the Lite one.
Would be great to be able to get a version without the sensor included, for those of us who immediately plan to use a different sensor. For me the heart rate and respiratory sensor seems exceptionally cool to put in my toddlers nursery.
It’d be nice to have a deep dive of your journey of your become a product manufacturer journey. Everything from making the first one (probably by yourself) to now having a team working on newer products and what that takes from software, hardware, vendors, etc
This sensor is really great. I would love it to be able to make zones that are at an angle to the device, so you can stick it in a corner and make sure there are no "dead spots" from three 120 degrees. Also a retailer in EU would be a big deal. I paired more than double the device for just shipping and taxes😢
Thank you for explaining the difference between the EP1 and EPL! Would love to also see a video explaining what happens when you "adopt" it. This is my first non-diy esphome device and don't understand the difference between adopting and not adopting. For example, I didn't see any notification that the firmware had an update and I adopted mine. Was this because I adopted it?
I love the Presence one, Only thing I'm still missing is the zones. Do see the beta firmware for it but would like to see the non beta release of that. That would make it even more awesome. The light version is also on my list and will get that aswell for smaller rooms later on.
The zones on EP1 are exclusions zones rather than XY coordinate zones like on the Lite, like I mentioned in the video, the DFRobot sensor doesn't support zones in that way unfortunately.
@@EverythingSmartHome Thank u for that quick response, and exclusions would already be enough for me. When the lite is back in stock I for sure will get one or 2. Thanks so much for this amazing device. Keep up the good work!
Really, already sold out? This video was just published. I've been waiting for this sensor for months. Btw I love the everything presence one sensor. It is by far the most powerful and reliable sensor that I've purchased. Super bummed that the lite is already sold out. Also big fan of your channel, thank you!
Great work on the sensor. I was just about to return the FP2 I bought so I could support you instead, but you're sold out! Hope they come back in stock soon.
Are we allowed and can we actually install the firmware on regular ESP32 or is there some kind of mechanism that only lets the firmware run with the custom PCB?
I just ordered my EP Lite. I can't wait to get it start playing with it. I have high hopes that mmWave will be much more reliable than the presence tracking in my Ecobee gen 2 motion/temp sensors. I hope I get the marked box! :)
Great to see a new type of sensor for Home Assistant. I have been testing an EP1 sensor to work outside to detect cars and people. With a water proof box and using a Panasonic EKMC1605113 wide angle PIR sensor, and with small software change in ESPHome to combine the PIR and Mwave together for a more stable Occupancy detection. I have had some good results.
Mine has just arrived. Well done on the new design. I want to ignore a ceiling fan. I currently have a Sonoff sensor and the ceiling fan will keep presence as true when the fan is on. Can I tell the EPL to ignore the fan?
I've had a pair of EPLs since the end of October, as well as an EP1. I really need to get my HA system squared away and get that template I bought from Smart Home Junkie configured.
Looked at this yesterday and was waiting on the "is available". So the second i noticed this video was up i went straight to your shop and now have 7 sensors on the way! Can't wait!

I also have an idea to use one as a doorbell, as where I'm living there is none, the door is effing 90% frosted glass except the frame, and there is no outside power available. So I'm going to print an angled adapter and mount it at the very top of the door on the inside and then limit the range to detect about a meter in front of the door, This way i will know if someone is there and it can also tell me if it's 1, 2 or 3(+) people. So i know if i should open or not. So i really hope it can detect through double pane thermal glass xD

Oh no, it's sold out again already. 😭 I shouldn't have gone back to check for the ESP board... Well, then I'll wait for the next wave. Thanks for the video and keep making stuff! ❤
Thats awesome. One question. I have Ethernet cables located around the house for alarms/cameras etc. is it possible to use it as power supply instead of usb?
I would like to see the Everything Presence Lite go up head to head with the Apollo MSR-1. These two seem to be the best affordable mmWave sensors thats run ESPhome.
Sure, most are i2c so just requires 2 pins, both the EP1 and Lite have 4 spare pins. You would need to create your own ESPHome config for this and would depend on the sensor you selected
I bought three EP Lite and am very happy with them. The only downside I notice is that you can only define zones when you use side placement of the sensor. This is not ideal, as corner placement allows for much better coverage of the room. Are there plans to add this feature in the future? Also a debugging card would be golden, or some assistant that tracks your current location in the room for an assisted setup like you have in e.g. SteamVR room setup. Maybe somebody got a workaround with using angles and xy coordinate conditional rules in Home Assistant?
These look awesome! I'd LOVE to get my hands on a few. I do have one question though. For rooms like a hallway, where you want motion control over lights, but don't always have a location for a sensor with an outlet nearby... do you have any good ideas/creative solutions for this scenario? All of my current sensors are battery powered which works best so far. Would it work to use POE to USB C adapter to power these?
Happy with my EP lite :) If you ever figure out the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) (prepaid tax in EU) I am happy to buy another one and perhaps a EP one and pro.
My EPL is on its way: arriving today. It shipped really fast. One downside to mention. When you live in the EU, a €15,75 customs clearance fee is added. Add that to the €12,95 shipping cost, and the product nearly doubles in price. Still worth it though. Brexit is killing UK sales.
Received it. Unpacked it. Started the installation by scanning the QR-code in the box. I had some issues, caused by the "real men don't need installation manuals" effect. The installation manual is great and if you just follow the clear and verbose instructions, the installation and configuration go smoothly. The EPL worked immediately and was visible in HA. Now I'm actually playing with it like a kid with a new toy. A job well done, guys! 🤓
Looking great! And finally approaching a price I (as a massive cheapskate) consider affordable! Do you plan on selling versions without the mm wave board or enclosure? My 2 cents about losing the extra sensors - assuming the added cost in materials and manufacturing are near to negligible, I wouldn't mind paying a couple of euros more for that. Think of it not as a feature to increase profits but as something that might persuade people who are already on the fence. I for example am very slowly building my own set of sensors around the house and if your product had everything I needed, I might be inclined to just scrap my project and order a bunch of lites.
Just a thought, but with such limited quanities available that they sell out immediately limiting who can get them, to limit the first few releases to a limit of 1 or 2 to order at that time. Maybe more peole could get access to them that way. Otherwise, looks like a great product and would interested in getting one to try out. Thanks.
Just wanted to ask, why are all entities a shown as main in Home Assistant? Surely ESP Home supports entity_category for config and diagnostic entities. Otherwise an amazing accomplishment of DIY engineering
I’ve signed up for notification when they’re back in stock. These look fantastic! Hopefully I can snag a couple of the next batch. Keep up the great work, and get your people working overtime building more! 😂

Yes! Awesome products Lewis!
Thanks so much Jeff, means a lot!
Awesome work, could you also sell just the PCB without the casing for those who can/want to print it themselves?
Just a thought, but with such limited quanities available that they sell out immediately limiting who can get them, to limit the first few releases to a limit of 1 or 2 to order at that time. Maybe more peole could get access to them that way. Otherwise, looks like a great product and would interested in getting one to try out. Thanks.
This looks great! Will be ordering a few. Well done!
Great addition. You listed 5 mmwave sensors that you tested. Is there some place where the pros and cons of each is listed?
super cool. cant wait for stock to return again.
Must be pretty good since it sold out in a few hours! I'll keep trying to buy a couple...
Great videos btw.
Awesome 🤘 Will there ever be a graphic interface like aqara fp2, where I can draw on squares? That's so dope.
Argh! Wanted to order but the shipping cost alone to South Africa is almost double the cost of a Lite. Such a pity. I would love to support you.
I have gotten my Everything Presence One ready to go and I got it installed in home assistant. I have tried to automation If I run the automation the light turns on but when I enter the room it does not turn on. The code looks like this.
alias: New Office light control
description: ""
trigger:

I created it in visual editor but thought the code would tell you what you need. What am I missing in the code.
Thank you for your time and I am glad we have people like you teaching us how to make things work.

I'm keen to find out how people are powering their EPL/EP1? I'm keen to keep cables in the walls: POE to USB-C converter? (As you can tell I'm keen!)
The thing I would *love* to see is a ceiling mounted EPL which I can wire directly to my lighting circuit
