Nice kit Steve, I know a chap who has the latest thermal imaging optics and rifle scopes and it is amazing what you can see with them. You can even spot mice and birds in the pitch black of night, doesn't even need the stars to shine. As for me I have recently brought a pair of Leica binocs for nature watching. I would love a trail camera so may add one to my arsenal of video equipment in the future.
Woods look lovely. I am glad you are the custodian of them. Long may it continue.

That's funny, my memory card became full and I didnt realise until I got home, I went on about how I never see anyone with binoculars except you! I can't see why no other wild camper/bushcrafter use them? There my most used bit of kit. Steve.

Nice upload and good info. There is also some good apps with bird song to help attract Birds.

Nice vid Steve. I can do the wood pigeon and tawny calls with the hands too and I have just learnt the Nuthatch call just doing a series of staight repeated whistles. there's a pair nesting in one of my trees. I have a birdsong app on my phone and it works brilliantly for bringing out wrens. I once used it on the moors when I saw one and in a minute or two I counted 11 around me - probably a young family.

I'm with you on binoculars -- I've got several compact pairs for hiking and a full-sized marine pair in the car that I used to have on the sailboat. That's not counting the several nice pairs I've picked up in second-hand stores and cleaned up. Two of those went to my god-children to encourage their bird-watching activities. All-around useful item to have.

I would be lost without mine, my father was the same, he always had a pair around his neck. Steve.

Very nice Steve. I've tried the rabbit call a few times but not had any success, more practice required I guess.
I've had a pair of Bushnell H2O bins for a few years now and found them to be excellent for my needs. Waterproof and pretty rugged they've endured my rough handling well enough.
    Cheers, Al

The rabbit call works really well, I've had foxes and stoats come very close with it.
Some people have a pair of binoculars all their lives, I've had at least 5 pairs in the last 15 years! But I do use them all the time. Steve.

tips? the parkranger at lake nasty had a lot of success with that rabbit distress call. especially the juvenile foxes go like mad. another parkranger at sgravenland users appels with a hole filled with honey to attract badgers. I'd like a trail cam too, but I also hate them. there's chance I get recorded at work doing no 1 and 2s )-:

Haha, you never know when someone is filming you! I like the apple idea, I will have to give that a go. I have left some eggs by the trail cam, hopefully I will get a hungry fox or 2. Steve.

Fascinating video, Steve, however, I no good at attracting any creatures...except sheep. I was on the moors west of Buxton one day and a lamb started calling for its parent. I began my sheep call and the next minute the lamb began running across the heather towards me. lol. I can do the owl hoots, but I'm absolutely useless at bird whistles, except the cuckoo...I'll stick to using my camera and leave calls to those like yourself who are much more talented at it than me. Take care...
