Netflix had a guaranteed hit on their hands with an actor who was beloved by fans and passionate about the project and they utterly destroyed it with their terrible "writing" and worse leadership.
You could say it better Netflix had a excellent hit like you said they destroyed it so sad though I feel bad for the other actors who had an amazing chemistry with Henry (Anya, Freya and Joey) I don't know yet if I'm gonna watch s4 still thinking about

I feel sorry for Liam Hemsworth. Poor guy won't stand a chance no matter how good his performance is.

Liam Hemsworth certainly seems to have an uphill battle in the role of Geralt. I do not envy stepping into the role given how Henry Cavill had initially been enthused for the role. Still though it will be interesting to see if he can make the role his own. What are you hoping to see out of him?
I think the problem with the show is that it barely explains and developes anything before moving to something else and the only consistent thing in it was Cavill's Geralt. We can see this in the last 3 episodes which felt more like the beginning of season 4 rather than the end of 3 as it started something new without giving real closure to what just happened
In short, nothing feels earned as nothing (outside maaaaybe Yennifer's origin story) is actually dwelt on or built up to. Like we go from 1 incident of sex between Yen and Geralt in S1 Ep 5 .... and then they are suddenly an epic love with mountains of unresolved issues in the next episode with no screen time between.
It is just a badly told story without the patience to actually set things up or follow through on them.
Well they tried to fit a 60 years of story in three season
@blackstrat8091 that's not an excuse. Peter Jackson summed the Lord of the Rings that span around 20 years in a couple of months and it worked. Netflix just got lazy and went with it
@@blackstrat8091 And that..... would be the problem yes. 60 years in 3 seasons of like 8 episodes a piece
It makes me miss the days of 24 episode series.
In the books, Geralt's neutrality meant he didn't care about politics at all, because his mission was just to find Ciri.
Bingo
its more like Witcher's neutrality.
you are talking about a different story the witcher this here is the witch her
Geralt's neutrality meant he didn't care about nothing at all, beacause his only mission was killing monsters for money. He was witcher, the monster slayer. In that show most of the time he fighting vs humans
yeah but he still fought humans sometimes in the books, i think the reason he fought the nilfgardians at the end is because he was angry about ciri and wanted to send a message. in the book remember he helped rivia fight on the bridge against nilfgard cos he wanted to get across and he also fought in blaviken@@rossrabiaka7551
Very disappointed with how the show is straying away from the actual books 😮. I loved Henry Cavil playing the role of Geralt. It just won’t be the same without him 😢
Actually this season felt to me much more closer to the books than previous one.
This season was SURPRISINGLY accurate actually…I was surprised after season 2 I really thought it would be impossible to get back on the source materials track but I’ll give em that…they put it mostly back on track…all the key things I was looking forward to seeing from A Time of Contempt were there for me. Granted there were some differences but nothing too big…unpopular opinion but I thought it was okay lol
@@chasealan2166 "some differences" they cannot go back to the books with all the changes they made, there are so many it's astounding. Even really small things are changed for no apparent reason. Yes this season was closer to the books compared to season 2 but they were so far away in season 2 that being closer in season 3 doesn't mean much. I'm not trying to say you can't enjoy the season, just I don't think they are back on track with so many things changed, even if the bigger events resembles the ones in the books, they don't mean the same thing here with all the changes.
i mean, the books are the books and nothing will take those away from us. The show should be different, as the games were different too. Some things for the better, some things for the worst, depending on who you ask.
@@cataclyzm3844 Yeah I mean I kinda see your point too…the whole obelisk thing has always bothered me and they keep going with that apparently which I do NOT like cause it will affect the outcome of things later…I don’t think they called magic chaos but like once maybe? In the books lol I could be wrong….but this last season still was a lot more book accurate…I don’t expect it to be exact tho things never are so I try to be opened minded to an extent of the smaller stuff but season 2 reaaaally did go it’s…own way lol just surprised me season 3 was able to go back to the books more after all of that…I just love this world lol every part of it…games, books, show…I’ll watch Netflix’s variation or maybe someone else’s down the road if they ever try again lol it’s one of my favorites ❤️ yeah it’s definitely not perfect but I try not to be too critical
What a shame we're losing Henry Cavill and he didn't even get a decent send-off. Episode 8 did not feel like a season finale to me. Actually thought episode 6 and 7 were pretty good then they kept Gerald sick in bed for most of the finale.
Yeah Episode 6 was best Episode than 7 a good and 8 a mediocre
wait are you kidding, me and my partner legitimately thought there was a part 3 coming, like arcane came out in 3 parts. are you serious? that was it? that's not a cliffhanger ending that's literally just an establishing episode, like an episode 1 not episode 8. No body will embody the character of Geralt of rivia the way Henry did and his role in this show is something of legend tbh I’ve never seen a character so perfectly fitting for a person then Henry as Geralt
I'm actually shocked at how bad it was. I figured they HAD to give Cavill some amazing exit that would somehow bend/mix planes of existence with magic and allow for Geralt to still exist but as someone else. Idk, I figured paid writers would come up with SOMETHING. Nope, they had him walk into the forest. They can't even write a proper exit lmfao. Also, if anyone could have taken the role of Geralt. They should have gotten Zach McGowan. He'd do it justice. Regardless, show is dead.
I forgot about Zach McGowan! He would be awesome
@@Nocuadra66 Wildly underrated actor and fits Geralt to a T imo.
I totally agree! Anything would have been better, even him dying instead of him just walking in to the forest. It’s a bit of a slap in our faces us who loves Henry Cavill as Geralt that they didn’t do anything more to his ”transformation” into Liam Hemsworth. Yes unfortunetely the show is dead now, this was my last episode.
Why would they do this?? Im sure there was bad blood between the writers and Cavill, that's why he left the show. And his leaving openly discredited them. Why would they do anything good or respectable for him?...
Damn, Zach McGowan looks like a real life Geralt.
The producers really think ciri can carry a whole show by herself. Henry cavils geralt was the saving grace of the show. I give this show 2 more seasons before they give it the axe lol.
Isn’t the book story almost done anyway? They could probably finish it in 1-2 seasons
@@ekonremo6278 what about the games????
@@everettenjeze6276 no way they’re going to use the story from the games, the author himself considers those to be fanfic. Plus the Netflix ratings won’t last long enough to make that many seasons 😂
I think the story they are writing is very interesting too. As someone that hasn't read the books or played the games I am fairly invested, I have no attachment to the source material. So I think what they are doing could have worked if it was the original story on its own, but because it is an adaptation and fans of the originals have very strong expectations, as well as the whole messy ordeal with Cavill, it is destined to be a mediocre series that Netflix botched. The whole issue with Yennifer's casting really made me dislike the fans of the games. And the show writers actively disliking the source material made me dislike the show runners too. It's all in all a shit show, and it's so sad because of the lost potential here.
@@REDnBLACKnREDyeah many Fans a Butt Hurt but the Show IS still very good but some Errors are ok
I still cant believe they're about to "aunt viv" Henry Cavill like that
I think a better change would have been for Cavill’s Geralt to die, but in his final moments, yennefer or another mage (perhaps even ciri) uses the same type of memory stuff we saw earlier to transfer all of his memories into another host. This host would have then been Hemsworth’s Geralt.
Sounds better than just putting him in and expecting us to be okay with it anyway.
Agreed
It would have been best if they just ended the show after it’s one redeemable part jumped ship. I think if they’re gonna best shit they may as well go all the way
It's okay. You'll forget Henry Cavill if season 4 ever gets made. The script is soooooooo bad 😢
That is the dumbest shit I've ever read. And how would you explain the fact that Geralt dies at the end of the series in the pogrom of Rivia, with Yennefer unable to save him, if she can just transfer his memories into another host?

I’ve only watched the Netflix shows so I will admit I am not knowledgeable about the whole Witcher lore BUT this season was extremely disappointing. It was slow in many episodes and rushed unnecessarily in others. That is exactly what I thought would happen.
What's the sad part is, in last episode when yennifer said "Please tell me this isn't the last time I'll see you". And that is the last time we'll see our poor garelt of rivia 😢

Yeah, it seems like the new normal
Understatement of the year.
With a solid source in the books and games, it’s hard to believe that they were able to make this show as bad as they did. This is a trend lately with Rings of power, MCU content and Halo TV show to name a few.

I think Gerealt already died in the village. Yenefer was unable to heal him. But gave him good memories of himself getting better and going after ciri before he actually died.
You just wrote a better emotional scene then writer been abke to in 3 season of this show 😂
Wizard killed him on the beach. Then the ocean took him. He is now a sea monster that will attack new witcher in season 4.
I think the most likely way they will do it is pretty obvious but is being overlooked. Remember what Yen looked like in the first episode? They're just gonna have the tailor work on Geralt, one scene it will be a disfigured Henry, they start, and poof. Liam. This is the only way they could do it that actually makes sense in this version of the "story"
Hands down, best breakdown seen so far 🔥❤️
In the show, Ciri teaches YENNEFER how to skate, not the other way around. Ciri grew up ice skating in Skellige as a child. It's in the books and mentioned a few times in the third Witcher game.

They couldn't have even made it so Henry Cavill getting beaten to a bloody pulp and healing by the druids screws up his face into Liam Hemsworth, or at least something like there's a magic explosion that changes his face.
They did not need to break this season up into two parts.
That would have been cool
this season was so bad... I found myself skipping scenes even action sequences
ending was not worth it
I kinda thought Emyr's reaction to seeing fake Ciri was at least suspicion of Vilgefortz, if not out right knowing he was trying to pull some fast one on him. I think he knows that's not Ciri, but I don't know how he would since he hasn't seen her since she was an infant. Maybe he didn't want didn't want to tip Vilgefortz off just yet since he is a powerful mage and could literally end him in a heartbeat.
My exact thoughts to the scene yup
He’ll have one baby with the imposter before he realizes it’s not his daughter. Nah!
They probably planned the imposter plan together.
So legit no one could track down ciri. That whole desert waste of time was such a pointless filler. It lessened her as a character and as a powerful person.

They could use the fight scene to make a permanent damage to Gerald's face and making Yennefer fix it with magic and giving him a new face. Now i know why Henry cavil left this show (season 3 is worst and frustrating)
Netflix Witcher creator Lauren wants to experiment on original witcher, And seems she is more interested in "The Witches" instead of "The Witcher"
And we all know Henry read The Witcher, he play The Witcher game (The Witcher was game of the year 2015) that's why he want that game and novel vibes and story in series, but Lauren........
Here is the differences which is removed by Netflix creator Lauren -
Original Witcher sign (Power) - Aard, Igni, Yrden, Queen, Axii
Netflix- Aard only
Original - Ciri is witcher (her choice)
Netflix - Ciri is witch
Original - Triss is awesome
Netflix - "She not deserve it"
Original - Geralt try to save monsters, he try to convince them to not harm anyone (if the don't agree with him then he kill them)
Netflix- No mercy, i don't care, i just need money to kill them
Original - The dialogs according to weather
Netflix- Huhh
Original - Bgm according to environment
Netflix - Huhh
Original - Variety of monsters
Netflix- Witch is enough
And many more
I am really disappointed with Netflix and Lauren, Hope netflix remove these kind of creator who messed up everything and that's why Henry do not agree with her, He just want real Witcher not some kind of cheap experiment on story and characters.
count me out!! I've already come up with an alt ending in my head, and I'm sticking to it!
I think Philippa Killing Vizimir is to save herself, its likely that Djikstra taking the fall wont satisfy Vizimir , but rather would anger him more and Philipa knows that Radovid isnt easy to control she knows that he knows how to play.
Thanks for the breakdown.
I always love Henry Cavill as the witcher ... Just watching episodes coz. Of him
You always have my favorite take. Thanks 😘
I was really longing for poor pacing, dialog, delivery, and action since GoT ended. Thank god we get another go at poor production with good actors.
Hey White Wolf, how’d you like the portrayal of your character? Geralt: “Fuck”
Season 2 was the last one i watched and it will stay that way. Remarkable how Netflix keeps finding ways to fuck up shows with such great book material, not only did they scare Henry Cavill away they also found a way to mess up the writing.
I havent read the books but Thaneed was the chatoic world changing event i hoped it would be based on what i do know. Also Geralt/Henry getting to break Sigi's leg just like he does in Witcher 3 what beauty.....in going to watch season 4 b/c i really liked The Rats, they are D&D af, i will miss King Cavill so so so very much but wont disparage Liam until i see him.
How can you like the rats? They are a bunch of murdering psychopaths, one of whom tries to rape Ciri and another who rapes Ciri constantly. Also Thaneed was a complete mess. The biggest thing was Yen being the one to create the lodge of sorceresses when in fact she was never even a part of it and Phillipa was the founder.
holy crap that notification ding startled me so much
I’m guessing then they’re going to go for Game of Thrones with this. Like when they replaced Ed Skrein as Dario Naharis and just never acknowledged that the character was different or even looked different.
Why is Henry Cavill leaving The Witcher series?
Google: Henry Cavill reportedly had creative differences with The Witcher team. The prevailing theory is that Henry Cavill quit The Witcher as a result of long-bubbling creative disagreements with Lauren Hissrich and her writing team.
I enjoyed it but was a bit confused. Thanks for the explanation

I wonder how they are going to do the Geralt/Cahir relationship now. In the books, Ciri defeats him and Geralt lets him live, but threatens to kill him if they meet again. In this series, Geralt witnessed him surrender to Ciri without a fight and even charged the attackers allowing Geralt and Ciri to escape. To me, they have screwed this storyline up.

I absolutely loved the theme music of Renfri, which was in season 1. They used the music again when Cahir killed his elven friend, but didn't use it in the flashback scenes of Geralt and Renfri in season 3's last episode or when Geralt gave away that broach. That was disappointing as it could be a nice touch. BGM was another strong point that made me fall for the series in the first place. Agreed, i remember season 1's score being very memorable and distinctive. Now it's very generic
Goodbye Henry you deserved so much more than this and DC
Why didn’t they just have the battle age him or the healing afterward age his body and cast a older Geralt instead of trying to cast a lookalike and doing this meta BS that will feel second rate unless the new actor just completely nails the role which, with everything going against this show right now, is not likely to happen.
So that means now, when Henry leaves (the one who is really true to the original story, or at least wants to be) we can do to the witcher whatever we want to ... I have a bad feeling about this.

There are many potential ways to address Geralt's 'face swap':
a) pull a 'Korvo Trick' from Solar Opposites by just simply replacing Justin Roiland's voice with Dan Stevens'.
b) just think of Geralt as some kind of a Time Lord who can simply changes appearances between seasons.
c) do a Deep Fake on Liam's face (though it may be too costly even by modern TV standards)

I literally fell asleep during Ciri's episode in the desert, but when it came time to show her fire powers, whoopsie, we only have 3 more minutes of the episode! it's disappointing, beyond the lack of respect for the actors, source material, etc. It's bad quality that should not be tolerated at Netflix.
i have never seen witches and wizards being so weak like they were against the elves, that was horrible
They where suprised also the elves princess uses Magic and they Had the other witch come too. Witches die too If Hit with an Arrow they are better for far away Combat
@@Daniel-lq5qq but those were 2 mages against twnty or something ... one that came far later in the fight too, the mages were so effing dumb they just stood twenty feet away from their opponents and gathered cool looking CGI effects in their hands and did ... nothing?
instead of blasting the elves they just stood there while watching the elf mage give orders for archers to pull their arrows and attack ... and the mages decided to put up barriers ... instead of blasting the group standing right before them ... i have never seen mages being so dumb, like you are a MAGE! stay away, why the heck would you even go close combat?!
i really couldn't watch the 7th episode because the 6th was so bad
Perhaps Matt Bomer would have been a better choice to carry on Geralt, but keep in mind this role is perhaps so physically taxing and took its toll on Henry that along with dedication to the books, and all, he needed more and more down time to recover. And had less quality time with his loved ones, which I believe he has stated is more and more improtant to him. Anyway Mr. Cavill, thank you for entertaining us so brilliantly for three seasons!
With Henry now gone I guarantee this show will be canceled after season 4 or while they’re preparing to air it.

Are you going to continue watching the show after Henry Cavill leaves?
Among all, they actually have written well for tissaia and yennifer relationship.. The others has inconsistencies throughout the series with little emotions weight behind it..
As following the books the story from here on gets reals stupid it would be better to just bury the show giving it a nice ending and leaving the rest up to everyones imagination.

I agree to me after the 4th book it all went to shit my favourite parts were with geralt and his company but the part with the rats and virus character was pretty bad
I'll miss Geralt, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to use an AI to let it analyse S1/3 of Geralt and deepfake it on Liam in S4 😆
So there is season 4 up coming??
Thanks for the review, now I don't have to waste my time on this pitiful excuse of the show ... I really appreciate your sacrifice!!
I love Henry Cavill as geralt if he's gone maybe I'll leave the show 😮💨😞
I am reading the books at the moment, around three-quarters way through, so although I started with the series, I am now avoiding it, because there are so many changes, it is confusing. But both are entertaining, so once I have finished the books, I guess I will get back to the series too, but maybe as a totally different story.
It felt like they didn't even try to give henrys geralt a great send off that they said they would but they just gave him a fight scene and then it just ends. At this point i would be surprised if we ever see season 4 with liam as geralt and if we dont this show ends with no real ending and its a shame with what could have been an huge show with the perfect Geralt but they ruined it by trying to make it their own version of the Witcher story we all know and Love
The elf princess in blood was one of the most badass moment in the show for me its the best Episode in reminded me alot of game of thrones good work there
Henry's medallion was vibrating.
Anyone else watching this because they can't bear to watch the actual season 3? 😢
Loved the part where Geralt says “It’s Cavillin’ time!”
Truly one of the shows of all time.
I think Liam will do a asewome job as Geralt!
Man... I wish Henry Cavill should just go work independently together with Andrej & CDPR. Become the main producer, then make a proper faithful Witcher anime that directly based on books & games sagas, produced by studios like Ufotable/MAPPA/TRIGGER/KyoAni. Get the showing rights to maybe Amazon. Guaranteed SUCCESS, with cost effective budgets while making hundreds millions of dollar, just like Demon Slayer or AoT for example.
He maybe unable to become Geralt in live action, but he still could totally reprise his role as VA for Geralt once again.
This whole scenario is actually very much possible since CDPR hold the rights for "their" Witcher universe, including books & games, totally separated from Netflix own Witcher series.
I watchet all the series and you ale describeing it so nicely but even in this video you can see how they fuckup
Ok, SO. Where is the episode 9? I mean, that cant be the final episode for season 3. It cant be THAT bad. THEY cant be that bad at writting!
I would like to see the twisted medal series get a ending explained
I honestly don’t know if I will watch it now than Henry is gone. 😔
I like the start with talks on geralt and such.. but then we spoke about everyone else I got lost in carefactor.
