idk, about the dream, mariko's medal wasn't unique, in fact I imagine the Portuguese priest would give her one fairly common back in his homeland. Plus, we come back to the dream, it's more than one scene. And when have you ever dreamed yourself to be very old? No dream I ever heard of includes the dreamer being old. Perhaps the scenes are meant to be ambiguous. You can think of it as a dream if you want. Maybe?
You missed how Kashigi Yabushige almost committed sepuku on side of the cliff in the water (ep 1 I think) and now successfully commits sepuku and falls in the water (episode 10). There’s a lot of full circle

I’m absolutely satisfied with not having a S2. The ending is perfect. Shogun is not about the Battle of Sekigahara, it’s the story of how Toranaga won that battle before swords were ever even drawn. And for that direction, the ending was perfect. And I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better ending.
Given that Clavell's material is finished and the general track record for creating new material based on previous work isn't good, I'm fine with wishing there was more instead of regretting a bad second season.
I think the finale is superb even without a huge battle scene. The title of the book is Shogun (将軍 which means general in Chinese) and the finale really shows us how brilliant Toranaga is as a general. He fought using clandestine and covert strategies. Almost Sun Tzu like. He said, he does not control the wind, only study it. He did that brilliantly as a military leader to a point that the final outcome of the battle was already decided.
Superb? The only thing Toranaga did throughout the series was kill his own people, friends and closest allies. He even admitted he burned Anjin's ship and will keep burning it solely for his own amusement. He is a complete nutcase psychopath! The enemy won in this show.
@@SutterKrump You probably misunderstood. It's not about Toranaga from a moral standpoint. Rather, it's about the show portraying him as a masterful military leader employing Sun Tzu-like tactics in winning the war before the battle even begins. That's why it's superb because the series is about Toranaga becoming the Shogun.
No he is NOT. There have ALWAYS been tassles that hang from the arms of his kimono. You can see them when he stands up while talking to Yabushige... John has had a dream of a life which he lets go permanently when decides to commit seppuku. Thats why they flash back to that dream and he restates what Mariko said "we live and we die" and he accepts he WONT die in England in a bed . He has in that moment accepted that his fate has changed...
That would have been my preference as well but MONEY. "FX, Hulu and the Estate of James Clavell are working to extend the critically acclaimed global hit drama Shōgun, moving forward to develop the saga with two additional seasons of the drama series."
Shogun was an amazing mini-series for Hulu. It was a well put together production and the characters were magnificent. I see possible Emmys in this show’s future.
I like the show as a whole. I was hooked the first 4 episodes. I kept hearing they are speed running through the story from the book readers. When I look back, they went to Osaka then left then went back then left. The traditions of the historic “japans” kept me engaged
All I have to say is that I was crying when Toranaga stopped the Anjin from killing himself.. How quickly he got over there and popped him like Bruce Lee had me 💀🤣
Well he needs someone to torture, and that someone is Anjin. He burned his ship and admitted he'll keep burning it solely for his own amusement because he gets off on it. That's why he kept him alive. Toranaga is the greatest psychopath in Japan. He only killed his own people throughout the entire show and is enemy number 1.
@SutterKrump The real John Blackthorne, William Adams, was made some sort of sea tradesman for Japan. He was not viewed as just a slave or barbarian by Toranaga. He was given a wife & a salary in Japan.

Loved, loved, loved Shogun. The intrigue and jockying, brilliant. The last 5 minutes brought everything to light, Toranaga's wry smile was the icing on the cake.
"Shogun" emerges as a captivating journey into the heart of medieval Japan, showcasing valor, intrigue, and cultural richness with unparalleled finesse. The series not only transports viewers to a bygone era but immerses them in its intricacies, thanks to its meticulous attention to detail and historical accuracy. One of the standout features of "Shogun" is its breathtaking cinematography, which beautifully captures the essence of feudal Japan. From sweeping landscapes to intimate character moments, every frame is a visual feast that enhances the storytelling experience. As we revel in the triumph of "Shogun," one can't help but hope for more television shows to follow in its footsteps, striving for the same level of quality and dedication to storytelling. In an age of endless content, "Shogun" stands tall as a shining example of what television can achieve when excellence is the ONLY guiding principle.
Breathtaking indeed but imagine how more breathtaking it would be if it is filmed and shoot in Japan... The production of the series began during the pandemic so everything was filmed in Canada
Yabushige was a great character, love how there's no rightgeous party, all of them human. I wasn't rooting for anyone, just enjoying a delightful drama.
I like that the story of "Shogun" is concluded. It was a really good series and I loved every episode. Star Wars, and Marvel have shown us, what it looks like. If you desperartly trying to keep a movie or tv-universe alive for the (money) fans. you get "The Book of Boba Fett", "Secret Invasion" and desasters alike. I rather remember "Shogun" fondly for what it was, than being heartbroken to see what it becomes after greedy studio executives decide on a second season.
"FX, Hulu and the Estate of James Clavell are working to extend the critically acclaimed global hit drama Shōgun, moving forward to develop the saga with two additional seasons of the drama series." FX/Hulu: "Let's soak this IP until it's no longer profitable." Clavell Estate: "We insist that you uphold the literary legacy of James Clavell. Or give us big bags of cash. Actually screw him, he's dead. Let's go with that second option."
8:40 I love it when Yabushige said that. On earlier episode he said that cracking your head is much more lower than boiling to death, he also states that its not worse than being dogs eating your body. Edit: I don't think there is a need for season, its just the series ended in a hypothetical ending. I'd only 1-3 episode short for an actual ending for it
What struck me the most about this final episode was how non-chalantly and without any ceremony Yabushige took out his blade and commited Seppuku. Hell, he wasn´t even kneeling! In the end, he did go as a Samurai though: he did not fear death.
I liked both the book and first adaptation, so I was skeptical going into this series. But this rendition was so freaking good !!! The authenticity was 100%. I don't want a 'Season 2'.. I only wish they would've done Sekigahara battle scenes. Cast was prefect !!!
John is not the white saviour of the story like it we would of assumed at the start when Toranga said John, Mariko and John's fates were intertwinned. John did not change Japan nor was he crucial part of the grand design, just a jester for king Toranaga's amusement and a distraction for Toranaga's enemies.
Yeah watchng the show I never felt John was the saviour type. The man since episoded one was swept up in Torunaga's games, living by the skin of his teeth and not really having any real power, most of the time he is a prisoner.
I never subscribe to the streaming platform and wait for any shows pirated version to watch . But i was so hyped by the show that i bought a 3 months subscription just to watch this show
Perhaps when John says, Unless I win, it inspired Tokunaga to realise he took could do the impossible by winning, having felt defeated up till then. He did quote him after all at the end.
9/10 Ending. 1 point off cuz I wanted to see the cannons fire one last time and the start of the battle too. Not even a full episode dedicated to it, just a charge before the clash and that’s it. Imagine the Rohirrim and Gandalf’s glorious charge with the sun down to Helm’s Deep 😭
Opposite ending grade from me. I gave the finale a 3/10. I read the original novel as well as watched the 1980 show, and while I thought the first 9 shows of this new series were outstanding, the last one just left me feeling disappointed based on what I have read and have already seen. I mean, the whole "dream sequence" diversion at the beginning did not appear in either the book or the 1980s show. Why not just bring the 1975 novel to life like Peter Jackson did with the "Lord of the Rings" series? After all, I don't want someone's additional "creative" intepretation or input on a beloved work, I just want some literary work to be brought to life. Why is that such a hard thing to understand? Watch the "Lord of the Rings" series or the awesome Granada "Sherlock Holmes" shows from the 1980s as proof as to what sticking to the source material can bring.
@@SutterKrump So true. The japs really didn't learn this lesson till the end of WW2. What hell is the point of commiting suicide just to prove a point. I liked this show less and less as it progressed. Felt like it tried so hard to be sophisticated it ended up being pretentious.
Thanks so much for mentioning this! It might be just me. But I like it to be as accurate as possible. I loved Shogun don't get me wrong. But there were little scenes that I knew were inaccurate and kinda threw me off the story a little. But you're correct, history does get exaggerated for TV and money. Tbh I was looking forward to seeing the battle of Sekigahara at the end to just sum up the whole build up to it between Toranaga(Tokugawa Ieyasu in rl) and Ishido (Ishida Mitsunari in rl), and just end it there (seeing as most viewers would know that after Sekigahara, 250 years of the peaceful Edo period governed by the Tokugawa shogunate would begin), rather than end it where they did. Probably fans of the Shogun novel and series would disagree (that's fine btw). But for me just would've gave a little more historical detail into the show.
It's refreshing to see the writers of Shōgun trust the audience to pick up on important plot points without the characters explicitly stating them. The subtle storytelling respects viewers' intelligence and engagement. Far too many recent shows, typically those from Disney and Netflix, tend to over-explain everything, treating the audience as if they can't follow along on their own. Shōgun embraces a more sophisticated approach, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in the narrative. FX understands the need for competent writers who value the audience's ability to think critically and enjoy a richly layered story.
So all we have to go on is this Toranaga's psychopathic vision about victory. We don't even know if his plan works. This master strategist only killed his own people not grazing a hair on his enemies' heads.
@@SutterKrumpWell, we already know Toranagas plan works because it’s based off real Japan history lol it becomes known as Battle of Sekigahara and Toranaga becomes Shogun after defeating Ishido
Having watched the original series in 1980 and having read the book prior to that, I was not especially impressed with the 2024 version. So much was changed without any real purpose. The conflict between Blackthorne and Father Alvito, the relationship between Blackthorne and Rodrigues, the fact that Blackthorne was a highly educated man who rapidly became fluent in Japanese (the character was a polyglot: fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin), the dynamics of the relationships between Obi, Yabu, Kiku, and Blackthorne (Kiku eventually became Anjin's wife much to Obi's dismay). It was Obi who stopped Blackthorne from killing himself over the threat to Anjiro based on an order from Yabu. Even the Buntaro archery scene was dumbed down. The rescue of Yabu after his being washed overboard was completely changed for no apparent reason. It was just a jarring experience for someone who read and loved the book.
I AGREE 100%! It was so disappointing that I’m having PTSD - why did they turn Blackthorn into such a buffoon? They completely ruined the scene where he attempts to commit Seppuku which was such a pivotal moment in the novel and so beautifully written. It was the moment he had a breakthrough and claimed his fate-and took it into his own hands. What a disappointment this series was.
It’s so interesting how many people have different perspectives. I found him a buffoon and not true to the original character in the novel-yet you found so much more depth in his character. Did you read the novel? I’m wondering, if you did, if you found Blackthorne identical to the actor’s portrayal.
@TP-pq9xx I found the 2024 version of Blackthorne to be a buffoon compared to the the 1980 version. While he was ashamed of the squalor in which his crew continued to live, he didn't assault one of them as in the 2024 version. The 2024 version never spent any time showing the development of the relationship between Anjin and Mariko, it was just suddenly there because it was vital to the story. Blackthorne acting as her second and the implied sex scene following Mariko's attempt at suicide were also somethings that was not part of the book.
I only understand about the war between the Catholics and Protestants, but confused on the rest. Still enjoyed the show though and might rewatch it as well to fully understand lol
I'm glad Shogun came out in 2024 because if it had been released in 2023 I'd have had a tough time deciding if Shogun or Fall of the House of Usher was the better mini series that year.
I believe blackthorn as an old man was real. If you look at the final shot of shogun, toranaga is holding a rosary as well. Indicating blackthorn was holding the rosary was given to him by toranaga when he finally let him go
John Blackthorne (William Adam’s) never returned to England. It was absolutely just a dream, and not reality because that wouldn’t be a truthful ending. William Adams lived out the rest of his life in Japan. John saw what he would become if he held onto the loss of Mariko & returned to England, so he let go of the rosary in the lake to signify that he had let her go. He changed his fate. That was the whole point of showingJohn letting go of Mariko’s rosary.
The executive producers have already said they won't be doing a second season. The book has been adapted, so there's nothing else to work with. If FX decided to do it anyway, even with the lesson every producer in Hollywood should have learned from Game of Throne right there in their faces, it won't be all that good. The real person Blackthorne is based on, William Adams, really did continue to live quite happily in Japan for the rest of his life. He built the Tokugawa Shogante a fleet of Western-style ships, and was even granted special permission to trade with foreign countries. He never saw his English wife or children again, though he did write them at letters. It's why we know so much about his life. The head of the British East India Company's HQ in Japan was also a close friend with Adams and wrote quite a bit about him and his family up until he left Japan in 1623.
Of the Clavell books, Gai-Jin (Foreigner) is the only other one set exclusively in Japan, albeit 268 years later during the Meiji Restoration. The last Tokugawa/Toranaga shogun is a character in the book. That would be interesting to see made into a miniseries as "Season 2", though like other commenters I still think the 1980 version was better than this one.
A season two would be weird. Almost every major character died. Excpet John, Torunaga, Omi, Buntaro and the Portuguese Catholics. I wouldn't be opposed to a season two, but it would be very bittersweet
This show was phenomenal in so many ways i wouldn't mind a S2 but also if it didn't happen the ending was amazing and very well explained on how this war was won without having to go to war the actors were incredible same for the music scenery and ambience in the scenes still hurt to see Mariko die she was my fav character with Toranaga...😢 This show is high up for one of my favs❤🙏
Ah, it's fantastic that they've based it on the book. Absolutely loving the visual explanation thanks man. Personally, I reckon one season's just perfect. If you ask me, I'd love to see Mariko and John tying the knot and living happily ever after in London, in my dream's dream. I wld break that loyalty to the master, her death was crazy to me.
Toranaga did not expect his close friend to commit seppoku and Toranaga sure didn't "learn" from John that nothing is impossible if you win, it was his attitude all along, he just agrees with the viewpoint.
Best show I’ve watched in a long time. The finale took me by surprise, I was expected an all out war to end of the show but I get what Toranaga was planning all along. I just hate this show came to an end.
I have been waiting since like episode 4 or 5, for the big ol hammer to drop on a HUGE reveal/twist, of Toranaga talking alone with John, and BOOM, hitting us with English and that he's been fluent in it this whole time Full disclosure, only vaguely remembered that this was even a book, had less than 0 clue this was a miniseries in 1980 or whenever lt was lolol
What's amazing about it? All Toranaga did was murder his own people and burning ships. Clearly a paid infiltrator, unless the goal of a great leader is to ONLY kill his own people and not even touch his enemies.
@@SutterKrump do you typically judge shows based on rather you morally agree with every character on it? The show isn’t amazing because I trust toranaga to baby sit my kids. It’s amazing because of the plot, intrigue, characters, and themes.
Captivating series and engaging characters. Torunaga is charismatic and powerful. Mariko-sama is so captivating. She reminded me of Daenerys Targaryen. This series has a much better ending than Game of Thrones. It's much better overall. I wish there would be season 2.
In the last shot wasn't toranaga holding the necklace in his left hand holding the cross wile the rest hang out? Implying he gives it to him later While also implying he let him leave.
I'm shocked people were disappointed. Got season 1 didn't have huge battles. But what made season 1 amazing was political intrigue and character development. So many characters died I expected to live. The reveal he has been wanting to be shogun the whole time. Just all of it I loved. I feel like if you had a some huge end game war people would still hate it. And they tell you where and what will happen. Ishido is going to lose. He won't have the support for the regents due to oshiba aligning with Toranaga. It was a giant chess match. And I loved it. Tho I really would have liked a season 2.
Perhaps you wouldn't be so shocked if you had read the novel or had seen the original 1980s adaptation. Maybe then you would understand why some people didn't view the finale of this 2024 show as the Second Coming of Christ. As much as I admired this new version, the last show was disappointing and left many people feeling unfulfilled (and count me in as one of them). I think they dropped the ball on this one.
@@dmacleod3843 your opinion noted - and now intend on reading the novel. I did see the original, but not with weekly anticipation as this one. as good as he was, he was still 'dr kildair' to me. thanks for your input.
toranaga is holding the the japanese girls neckalace that anjin threw in the water in the very last scene of episode 10. You can see it at 10:42 of this video
I remember reading about the history of this period and remember of being disgusted with just how vile a person Tokugawa Ieyasu (Toranaga in the show) was. So seeing this show portray him in such a positive light up till the very end was strange. Ieyasu reminds me so much of Octavian, almost like they were the same person reborn over a thousand years later into a different culture. I can't help but feel bad for Ishida Mitsunari who tried desperately to stay loyal and do his duty, only to fail at the end. That said, neither of them were likely very good people. Its just that one has more noble traits than the other, at least from what we are told.
I think the ending was smart, even though it wasn't exactly what I expected. A lot of us were probably anticipating a big final battle, which would have been cool. The Battle of Sekigahara in history was pretty epic and could've made a movie on its own. But I get it, battle scenes are expensive with all the actors, special effects, and CGI involved, so it makes sense that they avoided it. Plus, I heard the book didn't even have the battle. Overall, the ending felt reasonable, even if it wasn't as grand as we thought. Still, I'd give "Shogun" a high rating.
6:08 Sorry to be that “well, actually” guy, but women did not commit seppuku in Feudal Japan, rather their cerimonial death was called jigai. The series does a good job in portraying how Mariko tied her kimono to her legs to avoid any indecency but lost historical accuracy points for two reasons: there was no assistant (kaishakunin) and the target of the dagger was the jugular, not the heart. No intestines on the floor like the men.
Knowing one month later the battle of Sekigahara would take place. Tokugawa Ieyasu was out numbered 75,000 to 120,000 and only lost about 4000 warriors compared to west that lost about 32,000. Therefore winning the war and becoming Shogun.
The dream scene with Blackthorne on his deathbed back in England makes no sense and does not advance the storyline. They would have been better to have kept in Mariko's funeral scene, but they keep changing things. This episode was better than the last, but if you want to watch a better Shogun series watch the one from the 80's with Chamberlain as Blackthorne. It was much better.
It was good for 1980 and founded my interest for Japan then. But in retrospect it was way too "Hollywood". Blackthorne was the white adventure superstar which Chamberlain was in these days after doing the 1970s versions of Count of Monte Christo and Three Musketeers. But that is NOT John's role.
One odd dreamlike point: Torunaga predicts the battle of Sekigahara. Which did indeed take place, he did win, and it launched the Tokugawa Shogunate… so, great plan… Except: Torunaga says Lady Ochiba’s decision to hold back her son’s participation will win the battle before it starts. It was actually the bloodiest battle in Japanese history. Did I get the scene wrong, or is he in for a messy surprise?
it was one of the greatest shows on TV for sure. A period anime brought to life. I'm glad they stuck to speaking Japanese throughout it. It's time westerners who haven't opened their mind to a broader world, to do so or get left behind.
Old Blackthorne was a dream. He never returned to England. It’s not a debate. William Adams lived the rest of his days in Japan and was a sea tradesman.
I don’t think Toronaga knew that much far ahead. He was really going to try crimson sky before his army was destroyed and his brother betrayed him. But he can only react to the responses to his moves. Like Hiromatsu, I don’t think Toronaga planned that at all but instead used it to his advantage because he knew what it would mean.
I'd like the ending to quite it doesn't have to end with the big battle but at least have everyone load up and idk if they can extend this without ruining the series
Well, it sure ended with a cliff hanger (literally with Yabu's body going off the cliff) and metaphorically in we do not see how shogunate under toranaga materializes.
Why do some media referred to Shogun as " Season 1"? Season 1 implies there's Season 2, etc...when we all know, it's just a mini'series or limited series.
While I knew that this series would not be able to do the book justice, a few more episodes would have been able to resolve things. Although I can understand not having the battle, just having Toranaga explain himself on a cliffside is just weak. The series has masterfully brought to life fuedal Japan along with its intrigues and violence. The finale was like watching an enormous carnival ride grind to a halt. The power/funding was cut and the producers had to wind it up before it stopped altogether and left too many threads up in the air.

There is another novel similar to Shogun that I hope to see one day adapted into a TV series called "Shike" by Robert Shea. I highly recommend it!
Why is no one commenting how good of a review this was. Thank you
All I have to say is that I was crying when Toranaga stopped the Anjin from killing himself..
He only killed his own people throughout the entire show and is enemy number 1.
man, that hit lol
@SutterKrump The real John Blackthorne, William Adams, was made some sort of sea tradesman for Japan. He was not viewed as just a slave or barbarian by Toranaga. He was given a wife & a salary in Japan.
The actor/producer portraying Toranaga is also a martial artist. He also did his own stunt work.

One of the finest series I have seen in years and years! 10/10

Too bad, second season coming in
I am critical of this, but if there is more material and the crew is coming back together, I’m in. It was just too good.😊

8:40 I love it when Yabushige said that. On earlier episode he said that cracking your head is much more lower than boiling to death, he also states that its not worse than being dogs eating your body.
Edit: I don't think there is a need for season, its just the series ended in a hypothetical ending. I'd only 1-3 episode short for an actual ending for it
Absolutely the most memorable and magnificent mini-series since the original. The acting was beyond phenomenal. Thank you for the memories.
Loved the detail you mentioned about letting the falcon go. I enjoyed the beauty of the scene but did not think of its symbolism.
I thought it was really perfect! But I wonder if Toronaga thought all was lost and still scheming until he got the letter from Ochiba
We were really seeing the story through John’s eyes anyway.
Truth he was a distraction but also served him much needed time to sped up thing's.
I never subscribe to the streaming platform and wait for any shows pirated version to watch . But i was so hyped by the show that i bought a 3 months subscription just to watch this show
Oh, wow! I have seen your channel in a LONG time! Glad to be back. :)
Also, I'm still fucking bawling at the tragic fate of John and Mariko's love.
How so? The only thing Mariko did was begging to commit suicide every single episode. Don't feel sorry for people who don't appreciate life.

Watching the remake did motivate me to both rewatch the 1980 miniseries and reread the book, though.
Same!
The main cast and the show runner both said there will be no season 2.
So all we have to go on is this Toranaga's psychopathic vision about victory. We don't even know if his plan works. This master strategist only killed his own people not grazing a hair on his enemies' heads.
People lie and change their minds when money are involved. It would be foolish to not make season 2.

Did he really throw the cross to the sea? Or it was a dream?
@@Teefs69 Since it was not something from the book, I suppose you would have to ask the writers. There was no dream sequence in the book either.
I didnt understand this show but rewatching it makes much more sense. 😂
I think you are wasting your time. It just felt quite far fetched at most times

Another development was when John instantly and respectfully gave up his gun and sword when asked for it by Omi, even he was surprised.
Never watched the old version of Shogun. Love this one every second of it. Oscar worthy acting, in my humble opinion.
I'm glad Shogun came out in 2024 because if it had been released in 2023 I'd have had a tough time deciding if Shogun or Fall of the House of Usher was the better mini series that year.
Love this. Read the book years ago; then saw the first series. But loved this as well. Second season? Fabulous!
Didn’t they say they were only doing one season?
That's strange if they did say that. Because why didn't they say it was a limited series which is what you do in that situation.
Only two TV shows have made me cry in the past year or so. Number one Better Call Saul and now Shogun.
I love the writing, the costumes, the characters, no plot armor here. Really hope for a season 2 but I'm happy with just the first season!

A season two would be weird. Almost every major character died. Excpet John, Torunaga, Omi, Buntaro and the Portuguese Catholics. I wouldn't be opposed to a season two, but it would be very bittersweet

Shogun was good. I appreciate you for explaining everything in such details to understand completely
This was such a good show. I hope they don't mess this up in the next season when they'll be left without book material.
Loved the show..wish they made the season longer and not rush through it
Best ending explained video!
Best show I’ve watched in a long time. The finale took me by surprise, I was expected an all out war to end of the show but I get what Toranaga was planning all along. I just hate this show came to an end.

It stayed true to the book, at most. Everyone just wanted a big battle scene. Even myself 😆.

No season 2 is needed... this is just perfect as it is... ❤
This show just sets the standard for perfect world building and performances. Just blows got out of the the water
Adaptation of Gai-Jin by James Clavell could be a fitting sequel for Shogun
The final battle wasn't shown because they didn't have the budget lol
Season two should be about the lady who owns the “Tea houses” and her story.
One odd dreamlike point: Torunaga predicts the battle of Sekigahara. Which did indeed take place, he did win, and it launched the Tokugawa Shogunate… so, great plan…
Except: Torunaga says Lady Ochiba’s decision to hold back her son’s participation will win the battle before it starts.
It was actually the bloodiest battle in Japanese history. Did I get the scene wrong, or is he in for a messy surprise?
Great series, one of the best in recent years. It will be hard to continue though.
I want season 2 to be “bruh, where’s my samurai sword?”
it was one of the greatest shows on TV for sure. A period anime brought to life. I'm glad they stuck to speaking Japanese throughout it. It's time westerners who haven't opened their mind to a broader world, to do so or get left behind.
The last scene, shogun holds mariko's cross, so old blackthrone ain't a dream after all
Old Blackthorne was a dream. He never returned to England. It’s not a debate. William Adams lived the rest of his days in Japan and was a sea tradesman.
Great show and really captures feudal
Japanese life, customs and beliefs. Like an alien world to western customs!
Not only is there a season 2, there is a season 3 as well!
I loved the series and hope it gets a 2nd season!
