I too am the survivor of a Baptist cult, although it was more of the millennial variety of church. I was brought up for 24 years as an evangelical baptist, as my grandfather was a minister who had to retire due to dementia. After my grandfather stepped down, my best friend took over the leadership and then decided to ostracise my entire family because my dad was a drug addict and my mother was still the church secretary. I also lost friends overnight, and it destroyed my faith in the process. This new leader continued to keep his treasurer… who was later subsequently arrested for child abuse charges. I never (and still have never) touched alcohol either, and the purity culture made me terrified of intimacy with others.

Yikes. Thanks for sharing
You can apply these principles to the work force as well, guess everything is a cult.
Are you still a believer?
