could someone explain how gallagher is dead? I skipped through the story to get enough jades to pull and I'm just at a loss as to how he's dead.
@@Brandon-gh3pg during the story, Gallagher mentions that he will meet the watchmaker soon, that he will meet him in hell, implying that he is dying too, there's also the side story where you see "Dormancy" kind of calling for Gallagher as if he isn't in penacony anymore

Personally, I think Gallagher is a History Fictionologist because he needed some measure of control over the memoria that makes up Penacony, and (as per his own words) his only two options for that were either as a follower of remembrance or a follower of the enigmata, and for whatever reason the latter was more appealing/accessible than the former. Arguably it even makes more sense for him to be a fictionologist than a memokeeper since he'a watching over the land of DREAMS, which are in and of themselves a kind of lie, while memokeepers are primarily focused on preserving the truth of the world through their collection of memories.
Also, on the subject of Gallagher, I noticed something interesting at the end of 2.2 that no one seems to be talking about and I want to bring it up because it feels relevant here. Spoilers ahead, obviously.
In the "end credits" of 2.2 - the real "credits", not the fake ending ones - when listing the "actors" and their "roles" (like "Raiden Bosenmori Mei as Acheron"), eventually it says:
"Penacony as Gallagher"
Which... I find VERY intriguing? That statement implies so freaking much and I'm flabbergasted that it seems like everyone missed it. Like, is Gallagher an avatar for the land of dreams itself? Is penacony sentient? Is that why Gallagher is "[his] most genuine lie"? I NEED TO KNOW.
As far as Sparkle goes, I think her deal with passing out the button bombs was her own attempt to shut down the order's dream. If you try to peg her as the fatal error of the false ending in Ena's dream, Black Swan praises her for figuring everything out before anyone else before dismissing her as an incorrect answer. With that in mind, and the way she was passing out the buttons and telling everyone to press them at the climax of the Charmony festival, it feels like she was trying to set up a contingency plan to completely destroy the sweet dream in the event the heroes failed to stop Sunday, possibly attempting to do what Acheron ultimately wound up doing instead (I.E. putting everyone in a position where they felt the need to fight for their lives). As for why nothing actually came of it, I can only hazard a guess that Ena took over before the buttons had a chance to be used. You see her waking up after Sunday is defeated, so it seems likely she actually succumbed to Ena's power like most everyone else.

I saw a tweet explaining the Gallagher is penacony or rather penacony it said Gallagher was a piece of fiction created by a history fictionologist to maintain the lie penacony and spread it across the universe and eventually draw in the nameless from the future at the end of the 2.2 story Gallagher disappears as his job his done and he wasn't even real to begin with and the history fictionologist that created him might still be alive somewhere as for penacony being a lie I assume it has something to do with the watchmakers legacy since all of that was a lie the history fictionologist made up to attract everyone
I really like that Sparkle and other masked fool so far haven't been a main players in the stories , I hate when characters like masked fools are introduced in stories because it can open a flood gate that anytime anything is stuck in the story you can just bring in the chaotic characters to pull some bulls*it and justify by " Oh they are the chaotic character so don't think about it "
I think it's a good decision that sparkle wasn't a main player and was in the sidelines doing her shenanigans

Sparkle was a red herring in the Penacony arc, and her visual design already made it obvious that she wasn't the real threat in Penacony
Yea she red herring'd herself even, she thought she was doing something, but turns out she's just entertainment for Aha.

Saying Lan is rival to the Abudance is a bit of an understatement. Since its in lore that the only reason Lan even exists is because of something the Abundance did in his home world that led to him vowing to hunt it down.

My favourite theory that has came from Penacony is that Sampo is an Emanator of Elation with the mask. It would be so cool to go on a story about Sampo's youth and his connection to Belabog because like how tf did he get on Jarilo in the first place and how tf did he leave?? Why was a masked fool on Belabog and why does he care for it so much? My personal theory is that it be cool if Sampo actually ends up following us through the entire story of hsr to ensure we are victorious and that if we didn't end up at Belabog he would have done some Aha, Elation shenanigans to beat up the Stellaron and Cocolia
Maybe Sampo is a stelleron hunter or also secretly follows Finality and Aha lends his power because he finds the whole thing funny in some way?

The way they played down Death and how dark the last quest was pissed me off ... 😕 ; Death is just a scary "friendly" pet who stabs people to transport them and make mistakes sometimes ? Seriously hoyo?
I see your point is an odd choice and underwhelming to kill people but it is always a dreamscape after all
I mean, c'mon, it being a pet was a little unexpected but the way Gallagher was clearly in control and how 2.1 all but said there was no danger of death, if you didn't see the Meme being at least a little harmless compared to 2.0 you weren't paying attention to the story
Yea Penacony 2.2 is probably the weakest part of the arc, part 2.1 almost brought it back to Honkai 3rd or Genshin levels of intrigue but then kinda fell flat in 2.2.
Shaoji wrote some of the best stories in all of fiction back in Honkai 3rd, but that's because he was allowed to develop characters over arcs that lasted years. But even Genshin with relatively short arcs provided wildly intense finales with huge payoffs that rewrite our understanding of the story and lore, HSR doesn't seem to be achieving that so far.
Isn't that the whole point? That it isn't actually literal death just a being whose job is to transport people it finds to the real dreamscape and that the people of Penacony misjudged that thing as actual death when in fact it's not. I'll admit the whole stabbing thing was bit extreme but it was still an effective red herring with its intimidating looks.

What I'm seeing is that the Masked Fools really are fools, Sparkle thought she was on to something but she was a clown all along, Aha is probably laughing at her.
The other alternative is that Shaoji forgot about her, which I don't want to accept but could probably be the case; Which is kinda unfortunate because Shaoji has written some of the greatest stories in all of fiction back in Honkai 3rd and Penacony doesn't live up to that level of mastery.
@@GuyWithAnAmazingHat first point can't be true because we know Sparkle knew everything since the very beginning, before anyone else did. Black Swan said so too in 2.2 that Sparkle already knew everything(including Sunday's plan) since the get go.

And she might know something is happening but not know what is really happening, seeing how she woke up looking confused, she was fooled by the dream within the dream.
Most likely she fell into the dream the moment she entered orbit like every one else, then dreamt that she's going to be a hero distributing buttons but end up doing nothing.

And by thinking that she knows "something", she fell for the red herring herself, instead she herself became the red herring and then red herring'd herself, waking up confused.
What this means is that you were red herring'd by her, exactly what Aha is looking for.
Gallagher being a History Fictionologist and a close friend of the Watchmaker makes a lot of sense. I would go so far as to attribute the whole concept of the Clockie cartoon to him. Mikhail likely wanted to preserve the truth of the history of Penacony, but such dark pasts often do not garner much attention. That is unless you veil it in fiction, or, in this case, a cartoon. Nobody would care about Prince Vlad III if not for Bram Stoker's Dracula, for example.
Likewise, as we find out through the movie director side quest, Penacony's history is not all roses. However, by swapping out the facts for dramatized fiction--see Hanunue--the anti-IPC propaganda that are the Clockie cartoons have become more mainstream.
after playing the quest i went into gallagher character info to read his story again, and all of it just seems like text from actual history books of penacony alongside the details of some of the Hounds. I feel like Gallagher himself may not be 'the' history fictionologist, but just the character created by one based off of the text in his info tab. on the history of penacony. But I still dont understand why near the end of the last story it says that Gallagher is their most truthful lie and that they cannot differentiate between him and them... It feels as if the History Fictionologist made up Gallagher by not only implementing penacony history but also a bit of themselves... Man, I really hope we get to see some story beats (given he can never return) or easter eggs of this character cuz he just was my favourite :'')

From my understanding we experinced the story twice (kinda) first time was after the warp jump (no acheron cutscene and never met misha in reception) and we played through the exact same story all the way up until dominicus
Once sunday transformed into dominicus we then instantly entered a dream NOT AFTER THE FIRST PHASE (kinda confirmed since that boss had half of the real boss's hp)
In the dream of dominicus we entered Ena's dream. In Ena's dream we experienced the entire story (starting from the acheron cutscene at the warp jump) then we went to the reception where we met misha and everything happened as we know until we woke up from Ena's dream due to black swans help
The things that make me think this is correct is that blackswan gave us an empty lightcone after the sam fight but it somehow recorded when we met misha which was much before that. Another thing that makes me feel this might be correct is that if meeting misha was in reality then realising that wouldnt have woken us up from the dream.
I have a bit more details to add but i would like to get your opinion on this and i would be happy to show you all the other reasons i have but im still not 100% sure of the details.

Well on the case of the Galaxy Rangers, they’re already gone. Their role in this was essentially to do a drive by to disrupt the dream with their number of wills

Something I realized and find absolutely hilarious is that hoyo played us and actually got away with it. Sparkle’s main color scheme is 99% red, one of her motifs is literally fish, she is quite literally a red herring and let’s not even mention the two in her companion quest. Then there’s Duke Inferno a scapegoat with a literally goat skull for a head, sigh hoyovers you bastards.
Gallager preety much againts the doctrine of enigmata by telling the truth about himself. And as consequences, he will disapear based on his monologue beside watchmaker corpse about fictionologist will disappear when laid bare/completely exposed. Because of that, i think his goal is pure comradery despite his involvement in asdana rebelion and penacony civil war might be to originally to serve his aeon.
Still the funny part is, enigmata along with elation often ended on the same side that we prefered to win. I.e. againts tayzeroth swarm and againts Emperor rubert machine uprising.

Yep hoyo often let a lot of details left for theory crafters. For example misha photo in astral express guest book are stamped with "departed" label, Indicating his fate.
Could Gallagher be the watchmaker of todays Penacony? Because obviously Mikael was already dead for some time right? As kind of the "right hand" of Mikael, the former Watchmaker, it would make total sense. Also the fact that Gallagher is stated in the real credits as "Penacony as Gallagher" is intriguing and just confirms this imo
I still suspect with the red fish theme, Sparkle is nothing but a red herring. She’s an in-universe rick-roll, misdirection personified. You think she’s important and will blow up all of Penecony? She probably thinks it’s funny that we all fell for it. And at this point, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Elation gives you a Deadpool-like sense of what’s behind the fourth wall. She might be trolling us just as much if not more than the people within in the story, and might even know it. Then again, I could be wrong. Her trailer is nothing if not disturbing, but I think she’s both more and less than what she leads us to expect.

no, Erudition IS the path of finding the answers to the universe. Cold hard facts and explanations. Enigmata doesn't want any explanations to be completely set in stone like that. They are in fact rivals.

Right now it seems like a happy conclusion, the Order is defeated, Sunday is too, everything seems to be normal. But sparkle has been distributing a special button to everyone while disguising as Robin. Something ain’t adding up
I think of Enigmata as being the opposite of Terminus, as well. The Finality whispers prophecies of the future, which people seem to assume are negative. But History Fictionologists and such, trying to tear down the 'paths' of past history to try and unshackle the future from a set outcome... they seem very much against what the followers of Terminus would want (the ability to know what will come).
the enigmata is also in opposition to rememberance. they literally fuck with their shit.
so does this mean Elio follows the Finality? I haven't seen much of Terminus other than the loading screen hint and remembering the Herrscher of Finality with the power over time. I didn't think that seeing the future was part of their powers as well.

So, is Gallagher dead? He said that now that he has been seen through, hes finished, and I have read people talking as if he's truly dead, in the credits is 'Penacony' who interprets the rol of Gallagher. So I'm completely lost.

For now, we only woke up people from dreams. And more villains are there. For me, Sunday isn't true vilian. More like main actore in Order performance. Also, we still didn't find stelaron.
Dont forget the lurking Annihiliation gang remnants also boothil interaction with IPC. Hopefully they can fill all the plot holes

That's my problem with 2.2, many people fill the holes of the story when the story itself doesn't explain things. What purpose did Gallagher have as a follower of enigmata? Nothing. Gallagher could have been a normal dude and it wouldn't make the difference, hoyo baited us (again) making him to be a villain in 2.1, same for death being shown as something scary and mysterious, and its nothing but a pet.
Gallagher is the creation of some unknown history fictionologist (it's Mentioned in the loading Screen) and he call himself a "virtual Figure" in 2.2.
It's Not the First time we get a Plot Point, which will be more relevant in the Future.
So I assume we will meet His creator probably in a future Story chapter.
It's the Same with the whole Luocha stuff on the Luofu, which will definitely be more important. The writers already confirmed we get a Continuation.
Gallagher follows the path of enigmata out of necessity. It grants him powers similar to those of memokeepers, so he can have more control in the dream more easily.
The story isn't finished just yet, and Dormancy definitely hunts people down. I Don't think misha truly knows who gallagher is, and that his role as a "minion" not follower of the enigmata will come into play. After all if you go back to the scorch island soulglad tm place whatever and go to the sunday room, you can see "Dormancy" in the back pronouncing gallagher's name. The story isn't finished and we can't just fill the holes with clues or theories just yet.

Huh? Sparle isn't evil? Sampo is a thief/wanted criminal. Jinglui went mad with mara and killed innocents that she had to surrender herself to the authorities. The Stallaron Hunters r considered a criminal organisation. The IPC itself is a shady organisation. This game doesn't draw a clear line between good and evil ; it has more depth than that
