That first five minutes whipped me through my entire childhood and left my head in a tizzy.
As someone who came upon plarail at a toys r us in the early 2000s, I can confirm that it is heaven at earth. I also have a ton of conversion pieces because I also used track master. I have a lot more stuff from Japan now, and most of it is buried in the basement (I'm kinda obsessed lol). At least they survived three different moves throughout the nation so that's nice I guess.

Same. In my house the 2014 to present time track master exists. My 8 year old brother and 3 year old brother are collectors and we have been collecting for 5 years. We have Thomas, Rosie, Molly, Steel worker Thomas, Merlin the Invisible, Gordon, Percy, Salty, Diesel, Philip, James, Edward, Henry, Lexi, Young Bao the hero,, Hiro, Nia and the elephant, Real steam Thomas, Turbo Percy, Gator, Turbo Thomas, Toby, Rebecca, turbo diesel, Ashima, and Victor!!! Those are all of our track master engines.

I remember there was a set for hero of the rail with spencer, hiro, rocky and a flatbed. Also the brendom docks set with cranky and bulgue is pretty badly aged as cranky is detachable thus over time it tends to fall due to the aging plastic, as to the boat once the wheel got chipped( mine did) it is done for since it's very tiny.
(I am 25 and I still have every piece of Tomy track and trains in the basement 😝)

Sometimes I wonder if Mattel still owns the classic Trackmaster toolings.
I highly doubt it. I miss the old Thomas toys I still have some of mine. well what's left of them 😔. Mattel is pulling there Thomas toys off the shelves slowly. Pretty soon there won't be anymore Thomas toys. Maybe 1 or 2 years from they'll be gone.

It’s 1984, and a season 1 of the show have been released with Ringo Starr narrating it? That’s cool! Heh, time flies. It’s 1986, and Ertl has made some Thomas Toys.

Oh my goodness Mattel completely destroyed the toyline. I stopped collecting back in 2010 after misty island rescue but damn, the toys were amazing and i wish Hit Entertainment toys are still available in store.

Kind of sad when trackmaster was making decent to good products during 2020 and 2021 but got cut short because of all engines go

The reason why the narrow gauge Trackmaster engines are standard gauge is because they wouldn’t be able to fit a motor anywhere
Other than Europe, tomy plarail Oliver was also available in East and South East Asia, I remember back in the early 2010s buying Oliver brand new from a mall with my mom in the philippines. I regret breaking and losing him now.

It's sad that I as a Belgian never got to buy a Thomas & Friend diecast, although I remember seeing some when I was a kid (2005-2008). It never was a lot and it's sad I never bought one.

I actually used to have an RC Cranky as a kid, I don't know where it is now but one thing that I remember about it is that the hook was broken off.

What a pretty good history on Trackmaster and by the way Trackmaster is the first Thomas brand line of merchandise that I ever owned starting with the Risky Rails Bridge Drop set and then I had the classic Trackmaster version Stephen but however and the body shell remains along with the flatbed as well as the tender luckily I still have the runaway version of him I remember having the RC in Percy and Diesel from the classic Fisher Price era I lost the body shell the chassis remains and diesel I turned him into a custom and then the remote does not want to work with me because it has less corrosion this led me to put it in a bag entirely and wait until the future of getting the opportunity for an account to sell some items that I don't use anymore and I have been getting some good amount of Trackmaster as well as Tomy Plarail in recent times as well as the rebranded motorized and I don't mind the push along range because I do like the range to be honest I mean you could definitely use it for Adventures because they are compatible to other brands except Minis and I'm still collecting this range and even some Japanese related stuff and even to this day and whenever I had extras I came up with some ideas of customs and about the other rare things that I've yet to get I have already got the Thomas Giant set in Christmas 2020, but there are some rare items I've yet to get such as Bertram and especially Monty from Trackmaster he is extremely rare and hard to find and I definitely need him because I think him and Max scale a bit better than the Wooden Railway and takealong version that's just my opinion or just get the snow storm version of Max to make Monty just so that I could add more characters to the Sodor Construction Company and other creativity's behind them that I can take part in such as getting grass mats, blue sky backgrounds as well as having the opportunity to display them on what was to come in future for a few years overall I still love Trackmaster, Motorized, Tomy Plarail and even the hit toy company and Fisher-Price classic era because I love them so much and they're my favorite Thomas toys of all time.

I was born in 2007 and in 2008 or 9 I got my first track master when my mother was having an important surgery (she was ok, my dad took me to toys r us to distract me) toddler me when playing with it had given it the oh so clever name of "blue tracks" and it stuck. I had a few thomas and friends engines back then but for birthdays and Christmases between 2008 and 2011 i did get some other thomas characters, lost some as swell sadly but I did get some intercity/high speed train toys that were compatible with trackmaster track from the york railway museum in 2011 and to make thing way better in roughly 2012-13 two of my cousins who were basically my age (I have two sets of cousins, one on my mothers side played with the blue tracks and her brothers son too who had a 1 or 2 yo brother) we had great times playing with the "blue tracks" and my grandma gifted me all the track master that belonged to my now adult cousins from her house. Trackmaster or "blue tracks" was such a meaningful and lifechanging part of my early years as a child, my oldest memory's of using it was me using a baby crawl tunnel for percy and thomas to run in and out of and me actually turning the trains on in the store and making them run down the travelator thing that ur shopping moves down to be scanned. And if i ever have kids ik what toys im gonna get them. Tbh this whole story kinda makes sense as to why im hoping fingers crossed applying to be on a apprenticeship for network rail when I leave school which is literally the 18th of June 2024.
Trains is in my blood yall.
