In this NowThis News video, Travis Crown sat down to discuss being disowned by his parents, being gay and homeless youth, and how he overcame homelessness in California to help other LGBTQ teens. Many homeless youth are LGBTQ, meaning lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning. Everyone's coming out story is different but because of his religious strict parents, Travis experienced coming out to parents gone wrong. Travis was kicked out for being gay and was disowned by family. He learned the hard way how to deal with being disowned by your family. But now he encourages homeless youth speak out, as this story is so important during gay pride month.

If I had a home I would open it up to him and others like him going through this. His parents should be ashamed! Family isn't always what you're born with, but who you choose to let into your heart! My heart goes out to the weary and beaten down. Trust in yourselves, because you will survive it and it will make you stronger and happier if you decide! 🥰🤗

Call it child support. At the very least they should be held accountable his something we’re to happen to him. The irony of a "Christian" family putting their child out like this is thay it sets them up to be victimized, trafficked, date the wrong people to have a place to stay, etc. And they wonder why the children they abandon end up engaging in promiscious and other risky behaiviors. Smh....

there must be a law for the families who are well enough to support their children with their resources providing minimum needs of food, education, and monthly wages up to the age of 18.
the parent's works are not just to produce children. they must make them strong enough to stand with pride in the world.

Where I live it´s illegal to disown a child. All parents have the obligation to feed and shelter their kids until they´re adults (18).
I think it´s sick that in the US you can just throw your kid out of the house and have them live on the street.
