This is a hell of a gamble. Leaving Rangers so early on in his career might backfire. I personally think he needed a few more seasons under his belt before taking on a task like this one, but I wish him all the best.
I’m not a rangers fan, but I feel he’s made a mistake and will backfire, I’m a Celtic fan and I felt it reminded me of when Brendan Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester
Man's comparing Rodgers (who made the right call in the end) to Gerrard. Like seriously there's a big difference in both finciaces of the clubs history pressure and Leicester isn't a graveyard for managers like Villa has been before the takeover by NSWE. There is similarities I suppose but just like there's similarities with Rangers and Macclesfield in terms of liquidation the difference there for some reason Rangers kept the history but Macclesfield don't for whatever reason.
@Liverpool FC What ever you say Liverpool FC lol. I don't think we will be playing Celtic anytime soon being I'm a Villa fan and Gerrard is lucky in some way that were taking a gamble on him I know every manager would be gamble but especially for Gerrard the EPL is different from the SPFL.

Sad to see him leave, but he was first class as Rangers manager. For me I wish him the best, future Liverpool & England future manager. Looking forward to seeing him destroy the English press 👍 Thanks SG
From a Rangers fan point of view. Steven was an excellent manager for us its night and day where Rangers are now as a football club from where they were 3 and a half years ago.All of the fans absolutely adored him from day 1, he is very well spoken with the media and his passion and desire to win is second to none, people down south may call the scottish league a farmers league but when your the manager of Rangers the expectation levels are to win every single match. He was given the support, time, and backing of Rangers and undoubtedly won one of the most important league titles in over a decade to stop Celtic doing 10 in a row and going unbeaten in a full season, not to mention his exceptional run in Europe against top European sides and giving me and many other fans a memorable nights we will all remember for the rest of our lives. Im absolutely devastated he has left as many other fans were too but i thank him for everything he has done for us and where he has left our club now. If you give him time and support at Villa i have no doubt in my mind he will be a success, all the best Steven thank you for everything, once a Ranger, always a Ranger 🔴⚪️🔵
It’s good seeing young British managers like Howe/Gerrard given a chance in the league then you’ve got Scott Parker who looks like he’s coming back up, Lampards waiting for a job to come available
Great for Villa and great for the Prem as a whole having Stevie G involved. Hopefully we will see Frank Lampard back in a prem role soon, he still has a lot to give IMO. I'm all up for more British managers in the the Prem.
Many Rangers fans are angry at how he left, but you can see when Rangers was mentioned here that he gave the reasons why he left and clearly didn't want to talk about the situation as it is obviously still a very raw subject. He stopped 10 in a row and once the dust settles I am sure the majority of Rangers fans will be more understanding. Good luck Stevie, hope you do well at Villa and hope your family are glad to have you closer to home. As you said, once a Ranger, always a Ranger!
Well, he's come from a very big fish in a very small pond to a sardine in an ocean. I've watched his playing career and he's always been very loyal and committed and I like the guy. I hope he can be reasonably successful at Villa so that his reputation is not sullied for the inevitable potential future at one of the big clubs in England or Europe.
Stevie is a legend and a man of honor he so loyal and honest when Jurgen leaves hope Liverpool get him as boss. First i like to see him do really well at Villa a another great club and Rangers fans don't be to sad he made your club great again just wish him all the best.
His voice seems quite shaken when he’s talking about rangers and Liverpool. Must of been hard to leave rangers but hope he does well with villa and is in a place for Liverpool come end of klopp era.
He was a excellent player to Liverpool FC and a excellent manager I will think for Aston villa FC I'm happy for him to be at our football club I think if anyone can help the team it's definitely Stephen congratulations Stephen getting the job my friend and up the villa
Great appointment, proven himself at Rangers and will do so at Villa too. His mix of wealth of football knowledge and his will to win will be very interesting to see where he can get Villa. Thought Dean Smith was left go unfairly as he’d done a great job but Stevie might just give them what they are looking for.
@Liverpool FC see not a 1 man win then is it it takes the starting 11 subs manager and his team even the fans could have an impact. So it's not 1 man that won the UCL. Not one man on his own has or will do that look at 1982 European Cup everyone pitched in Nigel Spink in net big Ron as manager Dennis Mortimer as Captain and obviously Peter Withe as lone goalscorer there is a reason we have the oh it must be quote immortalised at Villa Park. It was pivotal but it didn't just include Withe as the quote goes "Shaw, Williams prepared to adventure down the left, there's a good ball played in for Tony Morley... Oh it must be! And it is! PETER WITHE!". Gary Shaw passed it to Morley Gary Williams wasn't directly involved in that play just to be clear. But Spink man for coming on for the injured Jimmy Rimmer in the 9th minute was superb despite only playing one first team match for us before that one.
@Liverpool FC My previous comment should answer that and Steven Gerrard was undoubtedly a great player but even Ronaldo didn't singlehandedly win a UCL
As a Gers fan, all I can say is thankyou SteveG I am proud of you and your achievements at Rangers. He came he promised and he delivered so I do understand why he thought his job was done and time to move onto his next challenge, the Premiership. Rangers are a massive club but the Scottish league could never compete with the Premiership, THATS WHY we should be in it and competing with the best in Britain, not side lined like second class citizens. Will he do well, will Villa get their dream of European football? Only time will tell but I am sure he will drive them on to better things he proved he can deliver, he did it at Rangers !!
@@alanconvey4030 what, even ManUtd? now come on that is stretching it a bit. Rangers wage bill is probably less than LFC Chelsea and City pay their reserves and yeah I guess, we would probably struggle to beat them to
Well if they want to join then join the back of the queue it wouldn't exactly be fair for teams like Macclesfield who had to start a new because of finicial reason which Rangers had that before I would call them a different club from the original myself but officially there the same I don't why it is classed as the same club.
Completely agree, the only clubs bigger than the Old Firm and Man Utd and Liverpool. Celtic and Rangers would massively enhance the Premier League as some of the bona fide behemoth clubs that have a season ticket base north of 40k (like Arsenal and Tottenham).

Best of luck to him. If all goes well for him at Villa, he's primed to become Liverpool manager after Jurgen Klopp leaves. That must have entered into his thinking with this move. He's proved himself in the Scottish Prem, now it's time to step up and earn his English Premier League manager stripes so that when the time comes, no-one can point to any reason as to why he shouldn't be the next Liverpool manager. And he’ll get the best out of the majority of the Villa players. What Villa fans should be really excited about is his number 2 Beale. Beale is a very highly rated coach. His tactics and Gerrard’s character will definitely improve things.
I'm gonna put this straight, as a Rangers fan I was gutted when Stevie left and the way he did it, I'll get over it but the guy is a legend at Rangers FACT . What he achieved should never be forgotten , such an iconic title win for so many reasons and for that alone he has forever imprinted himself in our clubs history. Thanks for the memories Stevie and I wish you luck I really do , one day though I think your going to regret leaving we'll see . Genuinely looked upset when talking about leaving. Anyway let's Gio 🇬🇧🍊🇳🇱
Thanks Gerrard for getting us our 55th title and stopping Celtic winning 10 in a row. It's a shame about the timing of the departure but we move on. Good luck with Aston Villa, I'm sure Gerrard will take yous closer to were yous belong.
Gerrard didn't give us 10 it was the Scottish Government who handed Celtic the title in 20.
Wasn't it your first PL title? The Rangers Ltd. Etc.
55 title's in 9 years.. Guys a genius
@Mikey Modelle Villa is a top club on recovery. Great job for Gerrard tbh

I may be wrong but seemed like his voice was starting to break when talking about rangers. Seemed genuinely upset he left.
Possibly not as upset as we were! But bottom line is he turned the club around but has taken an opportunity that he may not get again. That's life. I do think he loved his time at our club and will always link us with the first experience it gave him in his managerial career. I wish him well.
I liked the way he always steered the interview back to Villa. I think he’ll do well there if he’s given time

Naw hen 55 will always belong tae the club not Judas Gerrard. His manner of leaving was totally unforgivable.
I absolutely love and respect this guy. What a legend as a footballer and human being. I wish we had managers like him in Brazil. We got amazing players but very average managers.
"any pacific date"
Why is it out of all the repeated soundbites and muddled up timelines he's trotted out over the last few days, does "pacific" annoy me the most? 😂
The Pacific ocean doesn't do dates, so he's perfectly safe using that analogy.
Footballers use their own language. Like Chris Waddle's "pelanty".
Id suggest going outside more
That annoyed me a bit too tbf
Sad to see you leave Stevie g, thanks for the memory's, you will always be welcome back at Ibrox, 55
Darren Farley going to have fun having this legend back in Premier League
Would help Villa more, if he will play for them.
I'd love him to get back in midfield

That's football. Every club is a stepping stone to a bigger one or a more successful one or one that plays in a stronger league. No hard feelings here (Rangers fan). Good luck to him.
He looks happy. He looks settled. Don't ask him silly questions.

@Liverpool FC Sorry, I should've written "moved from". You are right though: SG was most definitely a big fish in a big pond as a player.
Stevie is a legend and a man of honor he so loyal and honest when Jurgen leaves hope Liverpool get him as boss. First i like to see him do really well at Villa a another great club and Rangers fans don't be to sad he made your club great again just wish him all the best.

@Liverpool FC so Dudek didn't play a part no
@Liverpool FC see not a 1 man win then is it it takes the starting 11 subs manager and his team even the fans could have an impact.
I've never taken much notice of Villa before. But now Stevie's there, they will be getting a lot of my attention.

Every team in the Premier league beats yous wise up
@@alanconvey4030 what, even ManUtd? now come on that is stretching it a bit.
@@alanconvey4030 Barcelona can’t even beat Dundee united mate 😂
Completely agree, the only clubs bigger than the Old Firm and Man Utd and Liverpool. Celtic and Rangers would massively enhance the Premier League as some of the bona fide behemoth clubs that have a season ticket base north of 40k (like Arsenal and Tottenham).

Well he loved his time at Rangers that's why when he shakes off (not saying stop loving his time but in terms of mentally) he probably would have a similar way at handling the media when he was in charge of Rangers.

When he said that bit his voice cracked. Tried to play it cool, but he loves Liverpool so much he can't hide it.
