Hi! Thanks for stopping by and checking this project of mine.
This time I decided to build a wireless portable Bluetooth speaker that also has a multimedia screen built into it.
Not only does this speaker looks cool with the 7 inch screen integrated, it also serves a lot of features that a regular phone or tablet would have, including WiFi connectivity, video streaming, phone mirroring and many others.
I have designed this speaker using the Dayton Audio TCP115-4 4" woofer paired with the Dayton Audio TD20F-4 3/4" tweeter. The sound quality and rich bass it produces is quite amazing for such a budget woofer and tweeter combination. In the next step I have also included links to similar woofer and tweeter combo if you are unable to get the Dayton Audio ones.
I am also amazed by the amplifier that is integrated in the Android multimedia - it can output quite enough power to drive the speakers with little to no audible distortion at high volume.
As always I did my best to include the full parts and tools list, wiring diagram and plans for the enclosure. All can be found in the page above. Make sure you watch the video first!
The main building material I am using is 10mm (3/8 in) MDF board. You can use plywood as well. You can use different thickness (8 or 12mm) if you want to, but will have to adjust the drawings by adding or subtracting the difference in thickness, length or width. I find MDF to be much more friendly when cutting or rounding corners. The dust produced is nasty stuff but with a good breathing mask it is OK to work with.
Thank you once again for checking out this project. Hope you will give this one a try or at least learn something new watching this.
Feel free to leave a comment or suggestion down below and don't forget to check out my UA-cam channel!
    Thanks!
    - Donny

You're welcome! You deserve kind words only, because actually your design makes sense. Not like the others.. other youtuber's design is not supposed to have a good sound, I suppose just from my basic knowledge.. they are usually just making some box without any calculations etc.. yours seems well engineered. keep that up!

Ended up here after seeing a couple of Toid's DIY and I have to say it's refreshing to see a YT video where someone knows how to do woodworking, cabinetry, and finishing work instead of slap dash roller paint and no gaskets / sealing on components.

Thanks for the video. I'm planning to build something similar. How well do the 18650 cells stay balanced and do you ever need to take them out and charge them outside of the speaker to get them all to the same voltage?

    • @DonnyTerek
      @DonnyTerek  3 роки тому +2

Thanks for watching! I tried to place two batteries with almost the same capacity together so that they stay balanced for longer. Not sure how long they will stay balanced like that but I guess it is a good practice to take them out once in a while and charge independently.

    Awesome project.
How many amp hour are your batteries rated for and how many play hours do you expect to get out of the set up? Thank you

      Thank you!
I believe I was using 3Ah batteries, I get around 8 hours on medium volume.

I was going to make one with a solar panel as well to charge and use on the go when there is no power.
As well as put on a fold down carry handle .
I assume you could stream and watch tv on the car stereo you put in it.
Also how long do the battery's last.
Nice job on the build. It also needs a telescopic antenna for the radio.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁

Thanks! That would be an interesting build! The battery goes for around 6 hours.

Thoughts on passive radiators instead of vented ports?? Sound better or worse???

These drivers sound very well ported like this.

i did something similar to this but used an old kenwood car stereo and 4 6.5 inch coaxial speakers powered by a pc power supply.
