    Yasna: "Indeed, Astrogator."

    I wouldn't regret the decision of not leaving him the air tank, in disaster scenarios rescuers have to prioritize their security, no one needs 2 victims instead of 1

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 Рік тому +21

      Yeah it's just the fact you'd find another tank moments later would be upsetting but, as the astrogator says, you didn't know that at the time. So you can't really beat yourself up over it. Like Jesse said, it's similar to a plane crashing. You're supposed to put the mask on yourself before anyone else. Can't help others if you aren't around to do so.

    • @nuffsaid0
      @nuffsaid0 Рік тому +2

      You're not a rescuer in this scenario, you're a colleague and a friend. Yes, in the game there was no time to show the bonds between the crew members, but after a long mission like this, they would be more than just a bunch of people completing tasks together.

      He's showed signs of being brain wiped like the other surviving people she found anyway. Not much you can do about that.

    I've played the game and left my oxygen tank with him(purely meta-thinking, the game can't kill the MC. Wouldn't do that IRL at all) and content-wise I can tell you what's different.
    In the caves you don't hear the astrogator but you see one of your crewmates and talk to them. They're always out of reach but motivate you to go on. You're hallucinating basically. Before leaving the cave they tell you to go on and that they're part of this planet now.
    Also the guy you gave your oxygen tank to survives but you still argue with the astrogator because he told you he died. To keep your focus on the mission.
    That's it.

  • @mattymerr701

    I love the dialogue. Both characters are so professional while still having emotions.
    Like when the astrogator yells at Yasna but she doesn't yell back, just tells him its not her that had any part in it.
    Or just now how the astrogator accepts Yasna going to the base and continues to try to help her. It is very nice

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 Рік тому +3

      Some of it is a bit odd, but yeah it's nice that the characters stay professional. Not the kind of "professional" we have nowadays either where it's just a hierarchy and the subordinate will always do as told. Like he realizes she has a scientific mind and that there's no stopping her so there's really no point in arguing. She also realizes that she needs his support and such to get through things without going crazy.

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 Рік тому +1

      @@chadwickermanI wasn't talking about military. You look anywhere else in the world or even in other games and all you get is people making hierarchies and acting like they're superior to everyone else. It's not even just the working environment. The fact you don't understand this shows you have no real world experience whatsoever.

    when jesse accidentally put the photo slights away after she almost got blasted, i noticed that the slides say “goal elim crew” and when the robot was in sight it also said “enem robo 001”, but when we looked at the Yasna photo it sad “enem none none”, but the previous goal hasnt changed.
    so my current assumption is that Yasna got spared because she’s not with the Alliance?

  • @DonChups

    Watching Jessie speculate about the planet mysteries is so, so so on point for the original novel.
    He's following a lot of the same deductions and hypothesys, and that speaks so well about the game script and its adaptation of the original idea.

    24:20 About that, I just found an article titled "Archaeologists May Have Finally Solved the Mystery of the Disappearance of Roanoke’s Lost Colony". It says "researchers uncovered a new lead in 2012 while examining a map at the British Museum in London that White had painted of the Elizabethan-era United States, titled La Virginea Pars. Hidden in invisible ink, presumably to guard information about the colonies from the Spanish, were the outlines of two forts, one 50 miles west of Roanoke-the same distance away that the colonists had told White they planned to move, according to his writings". They found no fort, but there were shards of English and other European ceramics, which could be linked to the Roanoke colonies.
    41:48 "Are you not reading right there? Organic life? Mech(anical) life?" Yeah, I don't know that kind of doctor Yasna is who thinks she can interpret a graph without reading the legend (if they were trying to set up a twist, then that was a big spoiler right there) 🤦
    1:32:16 "Yasna, are you abandoning your profession? All you have learned, discovered, reasearched so far?" Welp, Novik is not a scientist: science has no absolute truths, but just theories that haven't been refuted yet. Scientific knowledge doesn't just increase, it can also get updated/changed.
    1:51:10 "What if I said that the flies and bushes are the same thing but in different forms?" "I can tell you, it's the most sophisticated form of being I've ever heard of" Novik really skipped his biology classes: plants are pretty much like the "bushes", and their pollen/spores are the "flies" (that way they can spread even though their mature form is sessile/immobile). Granted, these "flies" seem much more mobile (autonomous, even) than pollen/spores.

    2:06:35 so I’m guessing that each time this happen he lost a crewman that’s shay their body’s are spread all over each one got further than the last but you for some reason survived after been attacked (or did you and your just been pupated by a swarm of metal flys shaped like a person kinda like spiders-man, go look it up make sure to include the S at the end as spiders-man is different to spider-man it’s also way creepyer).
    I have a feeling this guy up there is doing a Weyland Yutani only it’s the flys/bushes instead of aliens, heck we don’t really know if this guy is out navigator, maybe this guy is working for the alliance?

      The details above also show GOAL ELIM CREW, and it recognised the robot as ENEM ROBO 0001, but on Yasna it shows ENEM NONE NONE, so its not recognising her as a member of the crew (of, presumably the alliance operation), and thus not as an enemy.
      At this point i'm assuming that Yasna's not an enemy because she hasn't threatened the plants at all (given the alliance seem to have been harvesting and destroying them).
      I love how you can get so much story from actually paying attention to the slides - Alot of other games would just have that data be random numbers but the devs here went all out on making it make sense

    Jesse calling nanobots was sooo clever but I was internally screaming when he didn’t decide to leave them behind. Bestie they killed the research team for taking the samples, for stealing some of the bots. Of course the swarm found your location when the samples got sentience 😭

      I was thinking the same thing
      The moment when Jesse first mentioned the cloud swarm I also remembered the earlier mention of "they were mining the metals"?
      It's like an unknown species came by and started to take their civilisation apart. Yasnas team was also trying to collect "samples" if I recall correctly.

    These metallic plants + flies remind me a lot of jellyfish. Cniderians are very strange compared to us dorsal beings and they can metamorphosize like bugs do into different forms. Jellyfish start their life as a stationary lifeform, similar to an anemone or coral, but it segments off its body and "sheds" into many jellyfish that can swim away and spread "eggs"

    So I haven't read the book or been spoiled yet, but my theory is the Mechanical Life fed off of the organic life, once all life outside of creatures that could avoid them (the fish) were killed off, the mechanical life slowly powered down and went into hibernation, with the humans messing with the dormant mechanical life they woke it up and it's now feeding off them.

    2:49 ok I’m now wondering if it would just let you drive to the Alliance base and probably your death or would it throw up a wall that stops you be it your character going “”no I probably shouldn’t do that”” (game automatically turns you around) or you find that rocks have fallen blocking your path?
    Ok so that didn’t happen how I expected it.
    Also I think Jesse had the option to backtrack after hiding the truck and going up and around been all sneaky like but instead he went with the Paladin approach from by D&D games aka charge in head first and hope his Armor can save him from all the traps he just triggered.
