Wow! Have listened to John for over 30years and never heard this one and I don’t know why, it’s brilliant. It like it’s from a stage show or something, and sad. I don’t know, there’s just something about it. Awesome.
This is one of 2 songs ,Vanda & Young wrote that John recorded, the other was One Minute Every Hour. Which is also very, very good. Great songwriters. The evidence is in their history. Combine that with one of the world's great singers, and you have a great match-up and a memorable career moment. An underrated one at that because, at the time, John was moving on from a highly successful pop career.
“Things To Do” was written by Harry Vanda & George Young and first recorded in 1974 by John Farnham on the EMI label, with the musical arrangement by Mike Perjanik and produced by Peter Dawkins. The same song was also recorded by John Paul Young on his “Hero” album of 1975. John Paul Young was discovered by British record producer Simon Napier-Bell who was in Australia at the time producing an album for Alison MacCallum for Albert Studios, Sydney.
I just can't understand why this wasn't a huge hit. If John and Glenn had reissued it during the period he was huge (1986-94) I'm sure it would have been a national number one hit.
John (Johnny) Farnham would have been 26 years old at this point. And I think that we can also see a very young Shirley Strawn from Skyhooks at the beginning of this clip.
Oh the range and power, the perfect annunciation - there is just no better 🎉🎉😊😊❤❤
Love this man and his wonderful voice
Love you John Farnham ❤️

He has been in at least 3 shows. Dick Whittington's cat. Pippin, and Charley girl. It is most likely to be Charley girl, but that is just a guess.
Fantastic voice great song by the best vocalist in Australia if not the world
This song makes me cry because I feel luke John was singing it about himself when no-one was helping him , but he had a sense of his great destiny 😢
