This talk allowed my dad to finally understand why I was an Atheist activist and to see that I was still the same passionate, caring, giving person he knew when I was a believer. I sat my dad down and we watched it together and I credit it with giving me back my relationship with him. He is still a believer but came to my atheist events, talks I gave, and an Atheist/Christian book club. Thank you Greta and Skepticon for this invaluable gift.

CC Davis Sounds like a swell lady.
I used to drive pass a billboard every day to work that told me that damnation awaits me, and that's apparently a nice thing to say? They are so hypocritical when they suggest that everything they say is kind and everything we say is hateful. Many think people are awful human beings for just not going to THEIR church. Nothing is ever good enough for them. Them being the most hateful of christians, not all of christians. My friend used to be a hardcore christian, and she would write letters to her friends telling them how they can be more christian, and if they don't try harder, she can't be friends with them. I can't even imagine being that douchey. Good thing she feels bad about it now as an agnostic.

Well, the ten commandments deal with theft, murder, adultery, false witness, and other such actions where a man causes loss or harm to another or to God, and therefore owes a debt.
If you witness judge, police officer and the king conspire and commit a murder of an innocent man, do you in good concious, with honor and in good faith remain silent?
So Jesus Christ was murdered. It is a matter of public record, as one might say in court of law, as such, any man who hates God stands against the innocent, whether you believe in God or not.
So, if ever a public servant makes claim against you (ie a speeding ticket) and you are innocent (having caused no loss or harm to another, neither having expressed intent to do so), ask the judge "that book we swear the oath on, what does it say about oppressing the innocent?"
It might not get you out of the ticket, but lawfully it should, because law is from the creator. This at least is the principle expressed in the american declaration of independence and the british coronation oath.
spiritually, if someone cares about you enough to tell you why God would allow his messiah to be murdered, to pay your debts, so that he might forgive yours if you will forgive others and not need to suffer the judgement; well is that not a kindness, annoying as it may seem?
      Truth is absolute.

Like blocking funding on public research. Like LHC, stem cell research, not being able to buy beer on sundays, buying and tearing down adult entertainment establishments, voting in local chamber of commerce meetings to block secular entertainment, demanding their myth be taught along side science as if it were just as credible in public schools, repeatedly voting against NASA budgets, and generally using their clout to block all knowledge bases from being explored and expanded. Blocking secular entertainment and finding ways to spend public money to bombard us with their fairy tale from knocking on our doors to to posting their myth on our money, and in our pledge, to building monuments to their belief on our court houses. I dont want my tax money spent on something un provable, and devisive. Yet we are forced to by people of faith. Sorry for the quick answer but with out a more specific question I had to give a broad answer.

The freedom of religion prohibits any majority rule guaranteeing that every religious view is respected. It also affords the right to hold any or no religion with no penalties. ***** typo so yes I did mean Need. But Nauseated, and by those who hate god none the less... pretty funny. I was watching a video about Conservative Atheist David Silverman, and Cpac. He was explaining to many there how social conservatism was theocracy. But I think that what your moaning about. What bugs that you need the blessing of a fairy tale? Gay Marriage, abortion, sex... Whether you like it or not Jefferson was very clear on the government dictating morality. And while the gullible will say that the words sep of church and state do not appear on the Bill of Rights, It has been known to be implied, and Jefferson has been on the record of saying that was his intention when he wrote the Letter to The Danburry Baptists. Are you telling me Christians know more about the country than Jefferson? Messrs. Nehemiah Dodge, Ephraim Robbins, and Stephen s. Nelson
A Committee of the Danbury Baptist Association, in the State of Connecticut.
      Washington, January 1, 1802
Gentlemen,--The affectionate sentiment of esteem and approbation
which you are so good as to express towards me, on behalf of the Danbury
Baptist Association, give me the highest satisfaction. My duties
dictate a faithful and zealous pursuit of the interests of my
constituents, and in proportion as they are persuaded of my fidelity to
those duties, the discharge of them becomes more and more pleasing.
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only,
and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of
the whole American people which declared that their legislature would "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.
Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf
of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the
progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his
natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his
      social duties.
I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection and blessing of the common Father and Creator of man, and tender you for yourselves and your religious association, assurances of my high respect and esteem.

I will only deal with buggers that coalesce around a nose hair. These kind of boogers have “irreducible complexity” because if you remove the nose hair you get a gooey mess. But if you remove the booger you only get a nose hair. So yes, God so loveth humanity that he takes care to personally craft all boogers that crop up in your nostrils; they are evidence of an intelligent designer. Stopping the child abuse of religious indoctrination is impossible? I had to come to the realization myself, by my own research only after I allowed myself first to question what was drilled into my mind from a child. Unfortunately it was 50 years later. It's hard to abandon something you believed in so strongly for so many years. I am still haunted by certain asinine teachings of Christianity. I abhor ALL religions and the damage they do to the minds of their innocent victims, especially children. It's vile and disgusting. Christianity/religion is a deadly virus.

We're angry because we're surrounded by stupid people. That being said... the anger isn't directly tied to a persons lack of religious belief, to the contrary it's mostly coincidental. Traditionally atheism has been comprised of the more well informed, and well educated members of society, such as scientists, professors, historians, scholars, dr's, people within the tech industry, etc. Additionally, in the 21st century with a renewed interest in science, the ease of access to a wealth of information via the Internet, along with the popularity and outspoken demeanor of people like Christopher Hitchens..... vast numbers of young people have come aboard as well. Now here's the catch; aside from a lack of religious faith, a great majority of those people share something else in common as well.... politics. Most of those people are what the media likes to refer to as "Liberals" ( although most of us are borderline socialists, we just can't say as much... because that word is evil). So, in a country moving in reverse, seemingly drifting further to the "Right" on a daily basis; it only stands to reason that these people would exhibit anger and hostility regardless of religion. It would be impossible to remain neutral on these issues when the "Christian right" are literally destroying the constitutional separation of church and state, as well as forcing the nation into a stand still while the rest of the free world passes us by on domestic issues.

Brett Perry I reject both liberalism and religion, both of which I consider to be objectionable and lunatic in the extreme. I am opposed to both with equal vehemence. Anything-goes radical loony liberalism is no less offensive than naive religious dogma and demented crackpotism. I suppose that makes me a secular conservative. There is no inconsistency or contradiction or conflict between conservative values and atheism. However, to be sure, it is a lonely part of the political spectrum.

The word socialist is not evil, meaning transgression against a fictional myth god-thing, but induced ignorance by propagandist brain washing on that single subject.
Often called, not unkindly, "the god box".

The goal is to eventually navigate the heavens and live forever in paradise. We will only be able to achieve this through our ability to reason.
Intellect will be our salvation if we are to survive.
Religion conditions us to think we have all the answers stifling curiosity and thus cultivation of the intellect. When we have answers we don't need questions. Questions lead to truth, understanding, and progress. Religion is the biggest impediment to mankind's progress, quality of life and survival.
There are so many different denominations and so many more sects within and much more than that, that have been forgotten.
There is only ONE truth and it is beyond our comprehension and if you don't realize that you are disingenuous or delusional
All religions are a fraud created to wield power over groups of people except yours of course.

I'm sorry you had to experience or only see Orthodox and Westboro. Majority of the time christians aren't as (or *_shouldn't be_* as) fanatical, doctrinal, or powerhungry as you've experienced. And for that I do apologize for such people.
Despite faith, christians still do ask and seek answers and attend more to what they are doing in the present rather than just sitting around and letting things just fall to their lap.
While the overall goal _is_ to navigate to heaven, it's not out of achieving immortality or that nonsense. It's because the overall goal is survival and detaching themselves from the earth (which is said to hold them down) and all it's ties and bonds (family and friends aren't counted as an "earthly bond". It's more directed at physical objects or ideologies.) If you bother to take a look, the reason for survival is because of the ending of the world (insert drama insert drama). The Revelation isn't an event where people fly up and away and then earth goes boom, it's not even an event where the skies get all dramatic and there's the physical proof of god or what not, it's akin to planetary invasion similar to how Rome probably had plenty of signs indicating that it was doomed to get invaded by the germanic tribes and the huns, if I had to give my best interpretation.
I again do apologize that you felt this way, and I am sorry that you feel that people would want to put faith and hope in something that isn't on humanity or on other ideologies (because tbh and this is me speaking as a misanthropic nihilist, there's absolutely nothing and no one on earth to really put hope or faith on, so really to do so is an even worse delusion)
      Also scus the bump.

Bigotry. Hypocrisy. Lies. Bullshit. Segregationism. Homogeneity. Delusion. Human Imagination knows no bounds and this entire thread, is blatant proof of that. "Why are atheists so angry?" O, are we supposed to always be happy and content?! Are we supposed to just agree, nodding heads with smiley faces?? We're "not allowed to be upset, angry, concerned?!" We're not allowed to be "expressive" esp about our discontent?! I didn't know we had to ask permission to be discontent or sick and tired. I didn't know we needed approval to be upset, dissenting, or antagonistic. Vast majority of what Greta said in this video made tons of sense and is simply true.
Negation and stigmatization of atheism and atheists is real not just amongst theists regardless of faith but also with non-theists such as agnostics. It is true that agnostics can be bandwagoners of atheism most times. They jump to it and on board when needed or it's convenient. That is fine. I just would like no more pretending especially when it comes to the topics like "atheists and anger" which is a jump off, "that's them not us" kind of subject for agnostics it seems. I get it. Why be considered one of the "stereotypical angry ones?"
Do I think that the atheist community has its extremists? Of course. However, generalizing all atheists as extremists is wrong and that has been going on a lot on this thread. Religious/Theist folks, regardless of faith, are holistically identified with their beliefs so they think that everybody is like them. "Atheists have beliefs." "Atheists have conjectural opinions." "Atheists hate people who disagree with them." Blah. Blah. Blippity. Blah. 1) Atheists do NOT have beliefs, claims, or blind positions. Atheists have CONCLUSIONS based on objective evidence/proof. The main conclusion is..."There is no God."
You disagree? Bring objective evidence/proof, proving and supporting your claim of "There is a God(s)" to be true. Keyword: Objective. Not your emotions/feelings, faulty and subjective links/sources, personal experiences, religious/theistic texts, etc. Objectivity. Cut the BS. If you can't stand the heat, shut up and go away. Personal attacks = Automatic fail regardless of what side you're on. I've been on both sides considering that I'm both Atheist-Humanist and Ex-Christian. Intelligence must trump emotion. Objectivity over subjectivity. Mind over matter. I'm no expert but I am always learning and this thread was definitely a lesson in what not to do and think than what to do and think. Proving Greta right vastly far more than wrong.

    • @saltyseascott
      @saltyseascott 9 років тому

yes there does, and I thought the conversation you were intending to engage in defined a box already . . . Although I am Christian, for me the box is religion. The thing which encourages me to continue in holding religion as a box is all the mistakes people make in reference to "God". One of the first things God showed me: That He defined religion differently than anyone else, religion pure and undefiled in the eyes of God is the visitation of orphans and widows. I started running behind that statement clear from the street corner church. Because what the world defines asa religion is nothing more than a collection of studies and dogma which seperates people. I've been waiting for 40 + years for the rest of world to catch up. In everyway of life Christianity has always been about bringing people together and loving God thru' His Son Christ Jesus. Here's why, Love is giving without expecting anything in return and the essence to forgiveness is forgetfulness.

    • @KamilahHarris
      @KamilahHarris 9 років тому +2

saltyseascott You definitely prove that the human imagination is indeed endless. No, there is no "box" just like there is no "God." Your focus is on all things "subjective," which universally does not give objective proof/evidence to anything. Yes, your box is religion because all religion/faith/theism is nothing but a mental and emotional imprisonment. It's an actually jail cell. That is your problem and not mine. Second, God has a creator and that creator was....Men. Therefore, it is all psychotic to think that an imaginary being "told and showed" you anything. Heck, it's even quite hysterical. Third, religion/theism/faith is defined and depicted as.... The Same. There is no difference even if the subjectivity varies. The notion that an imaginary being has "semantics of his/her/its own" is quite preposterous. Lastly, it is you and folks like you that are behind. Christianity, like every other faith/theism/religion that has ever existed, is not a unifier. It was not invented by the men who created it to be such. That's why it has never been. The evidence of 40,000 denominations and multi-biblical editions don't lie. Additionally, there were life and times before there was a such thing as "God." Polytheism predates monotheism. Judaism is Christianity's spin-off, elder, and ancestor. Ergo, your entire response is a bunch of babble and not a direct answer to my question.

If you call yourself a christian but don't accept half of christian doctrine and never go to church, you're not a christian. You're an individual who's faith is influenced by christianity.
If you call yourself a scientist but deny certain parts of science (actual scientific facts, not just studies) you are not a scientist. You're an individual who's faith is more important than science or logic.
It's one or the other. The fact that an individual can assimilate PARTS of both doesn't mean that both, as a whole, are not mutually exclusive.
You can't be a scientist if you believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans. You can't be a Christian if you think humans come from primates.

Not to worry, the fine men and women at the NSA are already working on a method to monitor who you're praying to, and where you're praying from (only for National Security purposes of course). This "Prayer Metadata" is completely anonymous, and isn't stored or recorded without a court order.

    • @sharon501able
      @sharon501able 10 років тому

You are reaally funny! Prayer is a person speaking to God, thanking Him, praising, and asking for intercessions for self and others, etc. You speak to God with your heart (soul and spirit), which means the words are coming from your heart. You can pray silently, God knows what you are asking.
Can prayer be intercepted? Err...actually, yes and no. Let me explain...
Believers know that there is also a kingdom of darkness (satan's kingdom) in addition to God's. Sometimes when we pray, our minds drift off to something else that makes it hard to concentrate on our prayers. Every single Christian I have spoken to on this subject has experienced it. You may find yourself thinking of a win or loss of your favorite football team, a game you lost, or a meal you ate. Something somebody said, did, or anything else. And then you snap out of it and wonder why your mind is thinking of those things when you are supposed to be praying. I believe this is a strategy of satan's kingdom attempting to intercept your prayers. However, I also believe it is a vain attempt, for God knows what is truly in your heart.

    • @ShawnMcIntyre
      @ShawnMcIntyre 10 років тому +1

sharon501able I completely understand what you mean about "Satanic Influences" during prayer... which is why the fine men and women of the NSA are busy working day and night to monitor these prayers (in the interests of National Security), to make sure that these Satan-tainted prayers aren't being intercepted by our enemies, so don't worry: your Government is on the job.

I'm not not an angry atheist. I'm a happy humanist. There are a lot of things in this world I could spend emotional energy on being angry at if I wanted to, but I choose to be a happy person. Having passion and anger is great unless it consumes you and you dwell on it to an unhealthy degree. There are a lot of bad things to dwell on to be sure, but there's also a lot of good in people. You can pull up a lot of examples of religion causing bad things, but I can tell you of a lot of good things that religious people do too. The good things don't get the notoriety that the bad things do.I grew up in a religious family, and most people that I know are Christians who are great folks. They are very often involved in charitable events, helping the less-fortunate and improving the community. They're basically very positively-driven people with nothing but good intentions.
It's okay to have anger about some things, but I think that some atheists are just plain rude, obnoxious, hateful and vulgar. That's not going to win a lot of brownie points for us. These people do more to hurt us than help us. We need to be good examples for our cause. Religious people commonly think they hold the high ground on morality and being happy people. We need to show them that we are moral and ethical people who are happy and emotionally well-adjusted. Right now I think most of them think we're a bunch of hateful assholes. We need to change that. If someone asks me what my religious views are, I'm afraid to answer using the term "atheist" because our image has been tainted with negativity. I prefer to say that I'm a Secular Humanist or Freethinker. Those terms not only avert the negative associations, but also are more descriptive of what I don't and (more importantly) DO believe in.

I'm NOT a generally angry person. I get upset about some things that some religious people do, but they are in the minority. Most Christians are not bad people at all. I disagree with them in that I don't believe in invisible magical beings, but I know that their heart is in the right place. They think that goodness relies on believing in magical, invisible beings - they're wrong. There are plenty of bad things that atheists have done too, but I don't think that it's fair to generalize about the whole demographic based upon what a few people do. That's true for both theists and atheists.

+xplor va I was very touched by both of your posts so I will remove my post where I accused you of being angry. Forgive me, brother, for wrongfully judging you.
You are right that there are mean, demeaning and openly hostile atheists who waste no time at venting their spleen on the faithful. In fact, the vast majority of the posters on this video are of this ilk. I must admit that I, too, have made some negative comments towards some atheists who displayed great ignorance towards religion and extreme disrespect towards me. However, I chose to cut off communication before it got too negative. I forgive all of them, I ask for their forgiveness, and I'll pray for them. God bless you, brother.

Thanks. I do get kind of angry at other atheists who are vulgar, hostile and rude because I don't want to be represented by them. Believe me, I'm very quick to voice my disapproval to them. I'm much more likely to get upset with them than I am with religious people.
I disagree with religious people, but I'm not generally hostile toward them I just want to debate issues with them if they open the dialogue. I don't think that being a jerk to people you disagree with is any way to air your differences of opinion.
I hope you have a great weekend!

      Wrong.
I would strongly disagree, and haven't myself seen atheists concede anything with regards to the morals within the bible (not that that would change my opinion). Do you have a specific debate in mind?
I think you'll find that an atheist will agree that magical thinking and myth-making would have provided a comfort to such a relatively new species - one that was aware of it's own mortality, but little else. Don't forget, these writers knew less about the world around them than you did at age 12.
I haven't seen any biblical lessons that provided a moral lesson that wasn't already known. Many atheists I know would point out that there was nothing new in the bible, so the point is fairly moot. There are some moral sayings that I agree with, but weren't original, and were often ignored by a bible hero a few pages later. Plus, they do nothing to balance out the highly immoral teachings found throughout the bible. Even a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day.
I don't for a second believe that the Israelite had no clue that murder, theft, or lying were immoral until Moses went alone (always alone) to consult with his god, and came back with the second set of 10 Commandments (he broke the first set). And even then, many commandments either had nothing to do with morality, or, for those that did, had an * or two behind them.

Yes, I know what you claimed. I've seen renown atheists debate them. I don't recall any atheist agree with what you're suggesting. At any rate, I don't agree with it. I don't need to debate vicariously through debates by professionals. You've just restated your claim and ignored the points I made. Did you want to discuss it? You don't have to. But I see most of your reply as nonsensical.
"Look up any debate from Lennox, William Craig or even Turek as the debate with renowned Atheists over morality."
Why the hell would I do that? You seriously think that telling me to sit through hours of debates I've already seen is a rational defense of your claim?
"No one denies we based many of our morals on being told not to do something and over time it has became the norm,,, no one, except you..."
How would you know that? Until recently, you didn't know I deny it. Now, you suddenly know that nobody else denies it, besides me? Hell, there are still people who think the earth is flat. I'm sure I can find one other person who would agree with me.
"Murder isn't the only moral value, social standards also matter."
      Um... what?
Nobody said that murder was the only moral value. On the contrary. Nor did anyone ever hint that social standards don't matter.
Both of the phrases you joined together were false assumptions.
Jeeez, what a complete waste of energy that sentence was for you.

I will have to disagree with you. There's nothing wrong with getting angry. Now uncontrolled anger can be a problem, especially if they are dictating your actions. But hearing the many things in this video, how can they not make you angry? Whether you are theists or not, they should make you angry. Anger is the absolute correct response to grave injustices due to ignorance and malice. Tolerance is NOT what is needed. Certainly not in many of these particular situations. Tolerance is what the people that are acting on these injustices and crimes against humanity, should be showing. But tolerance in the face of these terrible injustices, is essentially saying something along the lines of.......... "Hey I don't agree that we should stone this woman to death for adultery, seeing how she was actually raped........but I understand you have your views and beliefs and so perhaps I should be sensitive to that fact."

    Science Proves the Bible
The Bible begins with these words: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. There are many people in the world who do not believe that statement. Some say God does not exist, and therefore, the Bible cannot be His Word. Sometimes we are led to believe that all true scientists do not believe in God, or the Bible. However, this is not correct. True science is not opposed to the Bible. In fact, science, properly applied and understood, proves the Bible to be inspired. The Bible is not a science book. However, whenever it makes a statement relating to a a scientific principle or fact, it is completely accurate.
Let us notice some examples of the harmony between science and the Bible. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1) This was written by Moses through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit about 1500 B.C. In 1820 A.D. a man named Hubert Spencer gave the world five scientific principles by which man may study the unknown. They are time, force, energy, space, and matter. However, Moses, by inspiration, gave us those scientific principles in Genesis 1:1. In the beginning-time; God-force; “created-energy; the heavens-space; and the earth-matter. All of Spencer’s scientific principles are right there in Genesis 1:1.
For many years man has estimated the number of stars in the heavens, and he has increased the estimate many times. Finally, in the 1900’s, man determined that the stars could not be counted. God’s book has always told us this fact. Notice Genesis 15:5. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
God was telling Abraham that just as the stars in the heavens cannot be numbered, Abraham’s descendants would be more than could be numbered. If man had paid attention to this verse, he would never have tried to count the stars! Another example of how science and the Bible agree relates to the blood in our bodies. Man now knows that blood is necessary for survival. If our bodies lose too much blood, we will die. However, man did not discover this principle until the 19th century. Before that time, blood-letting was practiced, and many died because draining blood from their bodies drained the very source of life. George Washington, the first President of the United States, is said to have died in this way.
Moses, again writing by inspiration hundreds of years ago, told us something man did not know until much later. For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh atonement by reason of the life (Leviticus 17:11). How could Moses have known about the life-giving qualities of blood unless God had revealed it to him?
In the book of Job, the inspired writer in one verse reveals two scientific principles not known to man until much later. He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing (Job 26:7). There is a place in the North where no stars exist, which cannot be seen with the naked eye. How did the writer of Job know this? Also, the same verse declares that God hangs the earth on nothing. We know this is true, but we have only known it for about 350 years. God’s inspired writer told us over 3,000 years ago that the earth is held in place by gravitational forces!
When we come to the psalms, we find an interesting statement in Psalm 8:8. The passage mentions The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. The phrase the paths of the seas caused a man named Matthew Fontaine Maury to begin a search which led to the discovery of ocean currents, the natural paths of the seas created by God. Maury concluded that if God’s Book said they were there, they must be there! He was right.
The Bible is not a geography book or an archaeology book. However, whenever the Bible makes a statement relating to these sciences, it is completely accurate. Notice the Lord’s statement for example, in Luke 10:30. Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now, Jericho is northeast of Jerusalem, and normally we do not speak of going down when we refer to going north. We generally speak of going down south and up north, don’t we? Why did the Lord say the man went down from Jerusalem? It is because Jerusalem is some 2,500 feet (762 meters) above sea level. When one leaves Jerusalem in Palestine he goes down to go anywhere in the area. Therefore, our Lord’s statement is completely accurate, and is recorded accurately by inspiration. No, the Bible is not a geography book, but it is geographically accurate in every instance.
Many archaeologists have explored the land of Palestine. Has any one of those scientists ever discovered anything which disproves the Bible? No. Many archaeological discoveries have confirmed the Biblical record. However, none has ever contradicted the Word of God. This ought to be very reassuring to those of us who believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. At the same time, it ought to convince the skeptic, the agnostic, and the atheist, that this Book is God’s Book. Therefore, not only does God exist, but He has revealed His Will to man.
Many other examples of the harmony between science and the Bible could be given. However, the ones we have examined are sufficient to show that the Bible is God’s Book. As the apostle Paul declared, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17, KJV).
The Bible is accurate in matters of science, and it is accurate in the matter of salvation. The Bible tells us that to be saved we must believe in Jesus Christ. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (John 8:24) However, the same Lord said, I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish. (Luke 13:3). Jesus also spoke of confessing Him before men. Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 10:32-33). And Jesus declared, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned (Mark 16:16). It is then that the Lord Himself adds us to the church of the New Testament, the one body of believers. If the Bible is accurate in matters of science, it is accurate in the matter of salvation. Will you respond to the inspired Word?

What she didn't touch on is that other people who are completely wrong in their beliefs express anger equally strongly, and can be motivated by this anger and gain equal awareness. Their anger doesn't make them any less wrong. I don't think we should be embracing our anger, I think we should be focusing on the superior logic of our arguments. We can still express the passion we feel, but I think that should be expressed through empathy, not anger.

(2)I used to listen in fascination and horror to his stories about being the only survivor of his family as his parents and siblings had all been murdered by the Nazis. How he was tortured and starved until being rescued by a large black soldier. How he was afraid at first because he had never seen a black man before, or a man that large. However, he said the soldier gave him the kindest smile as he lifted him up in his arms and assured him that he would be safe as he carried him away. (2)

On behalf of 2000 yrs of persecuted non believers - yes, Im angry. Particularly when the religious make no deference or apology for the ugly history on which their church stands today. After such a long period of imposed silence - atheists should not just feel entitled to speak stridently, they should feel compelled to.

This is how I see things, for whatever it's worth to anyone willing to read all the way through it.
Hopefully we can all agree at some level the following: 1. good & evil exist & a line separates the two with various degrees of each. 2. Morality & immorality are connected to good & evil in some shape form or fashion. 3. Ultimately, we all have the same origin 4. We are all similar, yet each of us is very unique. I realize life is actually complicated, yet simple at the same time.
Imagine a graph with, good in the upper left quadrant, evil in the lower left, evil in the upper right & good in the lower right. Above the left half we label good & the right evil. On the left side, what is good is moral, what is evil is immoral. On the right side, evil is moral & good is immoral. Therefore we have the equivalent perspectives on both sides inverted, essentially a mirror image. Above the graph place a circle directly centered above & connected to the line dividing the left & right halves. Now, from that same point on the circle touching the centerline, encircle the whole graph. Insert the word Source in the circle on top. The right & left halves are the perspectives of moral & immoral in relation to good & evil. It should like the #8 with a much larger lower half divided into 4 equal quadrants vertical & horizontally.
We now need to interject mankind into the graph. We are the ones that have the perspective based on several factors which are varied. In order for man to have the capacity to be good, or evil there has to be something inherent we possess. Christian circles call it sin nature. Perhaps others will call it the duality of man. What is the origin of mankind & the different races? These questions have pondered many. The standard narratives of explanation lack satisfying the curiosity of most, imo. There is so much controversy in this subject many dare not tread near its path. The following, many will probably find preposterous, or some other adjective, with added expletives. If so, well, so be it, such is life.
From my understanding of animal husbandry we have “purebred” animals of all sorts. We also have produced new breeds of the various types of animals. We know that once, let’s say a mare is bred with another breed of stallion, the result is a mixed breed. We also know that same mare can no longer birth purebred offspring. We know that some breeds are preferred over others for their useful purposes. We also know when interbreeding to often there are many various undesirable results. The same principles applied to animal husbandry also apply to mankind. It is a genetic thing, from my understanding.
I’m sure we have all heard of mankind’s Royal bloodlines. Some can be traced back for centuries & millennia. Perhaps we have all heard the phrase, “spawn of Satan”, most often used in a metaphoric sense. What if the spawn of Satan is an actual bloodline? It would explain much where religious dogma is lacking, imo. Let’s go back to Eden. Perhaps what Eve partook of was from the serpent’s seed. Then she partook of Adam’s seed the same day, even within the same hour. Then she bore twins they named Cain & Abel. Since Cain later murdered his brother Abel we can surmise Cain was the spawn of Satan. Let’s call this the evil seed line & add seed line to evil above the right side of our graph. Adam & Eve were not of this line & had other children. We can place this in our graph above the left half & call it good seed line.
Now we have a graph that is almost completed with biblical reference to both sides, at least arguably so. We must now take into account the perspective of each individual from both seed lines on each side of the graph. If I am of the evil seed line my perspective will be in opposition to the good seed line, & vice a versa. Since both seed lines are corrupted with that of the other, due to seed injection from both sources into Eve, there are varying degrees of good & evil on both sides. How they are perceived by each side varies in degrees depending upon where one is located in the graph. There are believers & nonbelievers on both sides of the graph. I hope you are able to visualize that. I’m certain we will not all agree, if anyone for that matter. I am not yet done.
There is archeological, anthropological & sociological evidence of ancient origin that testifies to a similar “creation of mankind” narrative that has taken place all over the world at different periods of time. Zecharia Sitchin’s “Earth Chronicles” is one such source. I am of the opinion it explains the source of our different races. This justifies our graph to be duplicated for each race. If we were able to inter-relate these graphs we would have a multidimensional montage of the interrelationship of good & evil, how they interrelate to moral & immoral in the varying degrees as perceived by all people, believers or non-believers. If one can image how this would look, I believe it will explain many things, as well as raise many more questions.
I once heard of a study conducted of the many attributes of God. Their conclusion, God is a being of at least 26 multiple dimensions. We haven’t yet fully understood the 3 dimensions we live in & many hardly believe another dimension even exists we call spiritual. I hope you can at least visualize a picture of what I am expressing. Even with all this, it is not complete. I am not sure it can be on the level we exist upon. This is my perspective of things. It doesn’t explain everything, nor is meant to. It just makes sense to me & explains plenty of things about life. It is obviously very controversial & debatable. When we debate about who is right are wrong we will just be chasing our tail, or ghost, or boogeymen that don’t exist, imo. Nor will it bring unity & communion to mankind. On the other hand, when we realize we are from the same source, that there as so many perspectives & discipline ourselves to empathize with others, connect as many dots as possible in the multidimensional montage I have attempted to grammatically characterize, we will have more unity & communion. If nothing else, our common ground will always be the source above which encapsulates us all. I’ll let you label that source whatever feels comfortable to you. In the infamous words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all I gotta say about that.” God bless everyone, Amen.

Handling anger is an important life skill. Christian counselors report that 50 percent of people who come in for counseling have problems dealing with anger. Anger can shatter communication and tear apart relationships, and it ruins both the joy and health of many. Sadly, people tend to justify their anger instead of accepting responsibility for it. Everyone struggles, to varying degrees, with anger. Thankfully, God’s Word contains principles regarding how to handle anger in a godly manner, and how to overcome sinful anger.
Anger is not always sin. There is a type of anger of which the Bible approves, often called “righteous indignation.” God is angry (Psalm 7:11; Mark 3:5), and believers are commanded to be angry (Ephesians 4:26). Two Greek words in the New Testament are translated as “anger.” One means “passion, energy” and the other means “agitated, boiling.” Biblically, anger is God-given energy intended to help us solve problems. Examples of biblical anger include David’s being upset over hearing Nathan the prophet sharing an injustice (2 Samuel 12) and Jesus’ anger over how some of the Jews had defiled worship at God’s temple in Jerusalem (John 2:13-18). Notice that neither of these examples of anger involved self-defense, but a defense of others or of a principle.
That being said, it is important to recognize that anger at an injustice inflicted against oneself is also appropriate. Anger has been said to be a warning flag-it alerts us to those times when others are attempting to or have violated our boundaries. God cares for each individual. Sadly, we do not always stand up for one another, meaning that sometimes we must stand up for ourselves. This is especially important when considering the anger that victims often feel. Victims of abuse, violent crime, or the like have been violated in some way. Often while experiencing the trauma, they do not experience anger. Later, in working through the trauma, anger will emerge. For a victim to reach a place of true health and forgiveness, he or she must first accept the trauma for what it was. In order to fully accept that an act was unjust, one must sometimes experience anger. Because of the complexities of trauma recovery, this anger is often not short-lived, particularly for victims of abuse. Victims should process through their anger and come to a place of acceptance, even forgiveness. This is often a long journey. As God heals the victim, the victim's emotions, including anger, will follow. Allowing the process to occur does not mean the person is living in sin.
Anger can become sinful when it is motivated by pride (James 1:20), when it is unproductive and thus distorts God’s purposes (1 Corinthians 10:31), or when anger is allowed to linger (Ephesians 4:26-27). One obvious sign that anger has turned to sin is when, instead of attacking the problem at hand, we attack the wrongdoer. Ephesians 4:15-19 says we are to speak the truth in love and use our words to build others up, not allow rotten or destructive words to pour from our lips. Unfortunately, this poisonous speech is a common characteristic of fallen man (Romans 3:13-14). Anger becomes sin when it is allowed to boil over without restraint, resulting in a scenario in which hurt is multiplied (Proverbs 29:11), leaving devastation in its wake. Often, the consequences of out-of-control anger are irreparable. Anger also becomes sin when the angry one refuses to be pacified, holds a grudge, or keeps it all inside (Ephesians 4:26-27). This can cause depression and irritability over little things, which are often unrelated to the underlying problem.
We can handle anger biblically by recognizing and admitting our prideful anger and/or our wrong handling of anger as sin (Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:9). This confession should be both to God and to those who have been hurt by our anger. We should not minimize the sin by excusing it or blame-shifting.
We can handle anger biblically by seeing God in the trial. This is especially important when people have done something to offend us. James 1:2-4, Romans 8:28-29, and Genesis 50:20 all point to the fact that God is sovereign over every circumstance and person that crosses our path. Nothing happens to us that He does not cause or allow. Though God does allow bad things to happen, He is always faithful to redeem them for the good of His people. God is a good God (Psalm 145:8, 9, 17). Reflecting on this truth until it moves from our heads to our hearts will alter how we react to those who hurt us.
We can handle anger biblically by making room for God’s wrath. This is especially important in cases of injustice, when “evil” men abuse “innocent” people. Genesis 50:19 and Romans 12:19 both tell us to not play God. God is righteous and just, and we can trust Him who knows all and sees all to act justly (Genesis 18:25).
We can handle anger biblically by returning good for evil (Genesis 50:21; Romans 12:21). This is key to converting our anger into love. As our actions flow from our hearts, so also our hearts can be altered by our actions (Matthew 5:43-48). That is, we can change our feelings toward another by changing how we choose to act toward that person.
We can handle anger biblically by communicating to solve the problem. There are four basic rules of communication shared in Ephesians 4:15, 25-32:
    1) Be honest and speak (Ephesians 4:15, 25). People cannot read our minds. We must speak the truth in love.
    2) Stay current (Ephesians 4:26-27). We must not allow what is bothering us to build up until we lose control. It is important to deal with what is bothering us before it reaches critical mass.
    3) Attack the problem, not the person (Ephesians 4:29, 31). Along this line, we must remember the importance of keeping the volume of our voices low (Proverbs 15:1).
    4) Act, don’t react (Ephesians 4:31-32). Because of our fallen nature, our first impulse is often a sinful one (v. 31). The time spent in “counting to ten” should be used to reflect upon the godly way to respond (v. 32) and to remind ourselves how the energy anger provides should be used to solve problems and not create bigger ones.
At times we can handle anger preemptively by putting up stricter boundaries. We are told to be discerning (1 Corinthians 2:15-16; Matthew 10:16). We need not "cast our pearls before swine" (Matthew 7:6). Sometimes our anger leads us to recognize that certain people are unsafe for us. We can still forgive them, but we may choose not to re-enter the relationship.
Finally, we must act to solve our part of the problem (Romans 12:18). We cannot control how others act or respond, but we can make the changes that need to be made on our part. Overcoming a temper is not accomplished overnight. But through prayer, Bible study, and reliance upon God’s Holy Spirit, ungodly anger can be overcome. We may have allowed anger to become entrenched in our lives by habitual practice, but we can also practice responding correctly until that, too, becomes a habit and God is glorified in our response.
God bless us all with His TRUTHS, in Jesus Christ's LOVING Name... Amen!
