  • I wonder how many people have thrown this type of gold away thinking it was just rubbish.. I know I was close to throwing it until I cracked a bit off the end and saw the shimmer of gold! This was a 3 day solo gold adventure in the Victorian Golden Triangle. Check out my Patreon, link below.

    Thanks for taking us along mate, ya gotcha a new strain of gold there, lol

      Not a worry mate, I believe it's just a manganese oxide coating after doing some research.

    A wonderful result, Lee. Deliberated the lesser travelled paths, and wandered into the strange gold! Would that black coating be Manganese? If you put a torch to the black coating it may turn purple, used for painting on ceramics, the colour looks different from the fired result, or take it to a university lab for X-ray spectroscopy with XRF gun or a nearer jeweller might have one, would tell the purity of the gold also, then to a trusted mining company for reward for this info, once you've finished the patch yourself?! The "type" could be named "Savage Gold"! Cheers, Gabi of Narre Warren.🤙

      @SavageProspecting  3 місяці тому +2

      Thanks, Gabi. I believe you're right from the research I've done it's manganese oxide, I think.. it does look a little off black, in some light that's for sure. Cheers Lee.

      @@SavageProspecting Cool! Thanks, Lee. Guessing you're not going to be glazing any fired pottery, although it would make ace roof tiles I'd imagine. Bloody odd it would be coating the gold as co-habiting metal, but not trapped in host quartz, or Schwartz, as I've been calling it lately, nutter. May the Schwartz be with you! 😆

      @gabivalla6279 haha I don't think so mate, it is very odd but very cool. I love finding odd or different pieces of gold keeps it exciting👌. Cheers Lee.

    Thanks for sharing another great adventure Lee. The trip started off slowly but ended well. You got some nice pieces of gold but I'm very interested in the black coating on the gold, never seen that before. Keep up the great work and see you on the next one. Cheers mate 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍🤜🤛

      Thanks Josip, I'm glad you enjoyed mate. I believe the coating was manganese oxide from my little amount of research into it. I currently have them in acid, it will be interesting to see how they come up. Cheers 🍻

  • @Phoenix_Enterprises

    Probably a manganese/iron oxide mixture on the gold. Thanks for sharing

    Man I was holding my breath while you chunked that log on the fire. Here in the US some pretty nasty creatures live in logs and will fall out and onto or near your feet when moving a log. And even if they don't harm you just the sight of them will give ya a heart attack ..lol. Those lil nuggets should clean up nice. Cool finds there brother.

    Good work mate. I’ve had a lot of donut 🍩 days like that. Just did a three hour drive to Clermont, did four hours detecting for a pocket full of junk. Woke up this morning with the rain set in for next two days. Drive back to Mackay with a pocket full of donuts 😤
