4 am, high and drunk to a level of stupidity, sitting on the bed and looking up at the lights as your mind struggles between overthinking and not thinking at all.. the beautiful clarity you get when you're free from crushing thought for just a few hours.. This is that feeling. Knowing that you have a problem with escaping from reality.
Everybody that is here commenting are the lucky ones that came across this music. This is truly a piece of art ❤️ I have wandered off in my mind into places I maybe have been trying to suppress regret. The past. Decision s. But at the same time it's enlightening sorrow. Idk.
Funny story. I went to work one more, and for some reason, this song absolutely touched me. I don't know why. I had heard it before, but this one morning on the way to work, I really listened. I pulled up to the stoplight. I screenshot it from Pandora. When I got to work, I sat in my car and looked at my photo album only to see this song called "The Alcoholic." I was stunned. I felt like there was a meaning behind it. I looked it up on UA-cam. The first video I clicked on was the one with the puppet. I broke down crying. That puppet was me.
I have such a deep feeling from this song. I'm not sure what it's about, but its sadness to me. Like the sadness of making a difficult choice, things go wrong and you don't know how you got to this point in your life. I used to fall asleep crying to this song during a particularly dark time in my life. My life cleared up eventually, but I can still listen to this song and drift away like im on a raft in the ocean.
This is seriously without a doubt the most wonderful sounding song i have ever heard. i feel like i wanna just lie in the grass and listen to it for a thousand years straight. and btw, i'm almost never poetic OR deep... so yeah, thats how good this song is. it makes me feel high or somefing!
The first time I heard this song, I was 10 years old, and I have never thought about it since. Just the other day at work, this song popped into my head again, and I have no clue why. I'm 24 now, and I had completely forgotten about Royksopp. Strange how the mind works.
I had soooo many different songs and bands I had to look up today. Well thanks, Royksopp, cuz now I won't have time for that. I'll be listening to these guys all day.
This music makes me nostalgic... I can feel a kind of despair into this song that remind me worst and best part of my life and let all around me in a deep coma... Thank you so much Royksopp.
This song. It makes me feel so many emotions at once. Like I just want to sit an ponder things. The way music can change the way you think is just amazing. And this song does an amazing job if doing that.
Perfectly suited to alcohol. And seems to describe someone who is alcoholic - the joy and addictive nature of alcohol. The rain at the ends makes me think of an alcoholic out in the rain, care free; and the rain also seems to describe the condition of their life.
This song gives me the feeling of a lot of weight getting taken off my shoulders. The sound of making it in this world; although I'm not there yet, i have a more clear vision. Simply a great feeling.
F€&@ing good track! Listening to it every now and again... sadly other people then think i‘m going bonkers... they just don‘t understand that music doesn‘t always has to be as expected!
its not a fast song, but today while in a science lesson listening to this, my heart started beating and my blood preassure raised... i have no idea what this song does to me.. but its either good or bad . still, love the song because it has power over me .
Such a beautiful track as ever from Royksopp if I had a set of decks in the house I'd be testing this out at different speeds Hint hint > nudge nudge 😏
I love laying in bed at night looking out my bedroom window when the sky is clear i can see the moon and the stars....i put on this album and i feel like im being transended to another dimension:) and no i havnt smoked any weed;)
On the video interview with Svein and Torbjorn that came with the iTunes download of Junior, I swear I can hear this song in the background. Someone should check it out and report back.
@SjokkoladeBolleMusa you're so right! This track and "The Drug" are addictive. I can't stop listening to that. It's pure heaven...has you said, fuck they are incredible really....
*Good music video idea:* There's a girl, struggling with depression. She has a crush on a guy at her school. He's the only thing that makes her life worth living. Then she sees him hanging out with another girl. She starts to get suspicious, but puts it off thinking "it's probably just a friend." The next day, she's dropped off at school. She says goodbye to her mom, who's on her way to work, and hops out of the car. The girl thinks, "this is the day I'll tell him." She strides confidently into the school for the first time. Then she sees them holding hands. Tears stinging the corners of her eyes, she runs off. Blasting through the school doors, she runs and runs until she reaches the woods behind the school. A noose awaits her, hanging on a branch above a large rock. She slips her head into the loop, kicks the rock away, and her depressed soul floats slowly above the trees and searches for another body to possess. It finds a lonely girl who faces the same problem. The cycle repeats. Each time it does, the sequence shown on the screen gets faster and faster. At the last girl to be possessed, the boy she has a crush on tells her he loves her before it's too late. He stops the cycle, saving her life. You can make a difference in someone's life. #SaySomething
@adamhellbound just checked out the song. you're right, they're very similar. With royksopp's history of collaboration I wouldn't doubt if they worked with them on it.

The birds at 5:00 am make you come at reality but how I hate the birds singing at that hour when I’m drunk
Guadalcanal Diary - "3AM" ua-cam.com/video/tOnJLay4fAM/v-deo.html
Reality is worth escaping from, these days.
@@Remembrancer I couldn't agree more.
it's so crazy how a song with no words can tell such an intricate story
+Allie Shea Same goes with my farts.
+Rocco siffredi Your meals are that complex?

One of my favourite pieces from not just Royksopp but the music universe

One of the first and best Royksopp songs I have ever listened to. Simplicity and harmony
Yea
This song awakens a lot of old feelings that I never wanted to tuck away in the depths of my consciousness. Anyway, it is a piece of art.
Royksopp have that timeless ingredient in their music.
i'm not on any drug, i think it's one of the greatest songs i've ever heard
I don't see the connection between the two parts of your sentence

If I listen to this with my eyes closed, I can feel like if I were in different places at a time.
If you haven't seen the music video for this song with the blue puppet, stop this video and go watch it now. Its phenomenal.

This song just moved me to tears. It’s got this Boards of Canada-nostalgia-thing going on. Love it.

I wish I could put this much emotion to a song with no words. This is simply magical.
No tengo palabras para agradecer, he muerto en el video... he recusitado en el... GRACIAS. Lo compartiré, gracias, gracias
Uuuuugh, what a great chord progression!!! *______*
Happiness of childhood mixed with teenage joy enveloped in quiet nostalgia
There was once a girl named Elisa, she was as free as she was beautiful. Then as quickly as she came, she was gone...this is her echo.
😥
9 years later this song still send chills down my spine.
I remember really liking it it, but I don't remember it being THIS good!
this triggered a massive flashback of like my whole life, it's so weird the emotions this song brings up...
I had soooo many different songs and bands I had to look up today. Well thanks, Royksopp, cuz now I won't have time for that. I'll be listening to these guys all day.
Song is just fantastic. The rain at the end reminds us that the good times are only temporary.
Masterpiece ! 🙏🏻👏🏻

Senior is absolutely brilliant. Mature and deep electro sounds. Loving it.
it give you the state of a good melancholia that can also be confused with sadness, but overall, it's just perfect!
Waiting for words to be spoken, but their never said. That's about it when it comes to an alcoholic.

Such a great piece of art! Lovely to hear it during a work (office) !

First time a listen to this at my way to home, but now, in the night... It's like I hear some story
A musical compound of good living and the key to the meaning of life
its not a fast song, but today while in a science lesson listening to this, my heart started beating and my blood preassure raised... i have no idea what this song does to me.. but its either good or bad . still, love the song because it has power over me .

Royksopp was gods' gift to man.
