In this video, I'll take a look at one the least expensive legitimate watches on the market, the Casio A168. This charming digital watch comes in at only $25 and for the price, actually offers a lot to like.

My grandfather used to use this watch. This was his everyday watch. Since I can remember him, I always saw him wearing this same one all those years. He passed away in 2015 and he wore this till the last day of his life. So this watch is kinda special for me
He had good taste ❤
@@Roastarex i was about to say exactly this. :)
He truly had great taste.
My grandfather also wore his every day. Never saw him without it. He is now buried with this watch on his wrist
I think they had a more durable metal case watch. These new ones are nice, but I suppose the resin case watch would not last so long..
Cant ever go wrong with a Casio, over a hundred times better than fashion watches.

Too right... however, being a watch geek, I'm always looking at what people are wearing... and it's mostly smart watches and fashion watches...most people really don't understand! Casio is cheaper and has much more to offer as a true great watch
@@ant7699 that sounds really great. And you're very right. My collection is a F91w and a square G shock 5600E...
I would like an Omega some day as I used to own a Speedy, and also an Explorer. But those things are very expensive and at the end of the day I don't know if they'll bring as much joy
@@Valera_Scotland Ah, so you like your mechanical automatic watches?. I can really appreciate some of these watches. We nearly lost these to the advent of quartz movements... Mainly seikos.... But luckily they survived and have become some of the most expensive types of movement on the market. Out of these more expensive watched... Ive never been keen on omega tbh... Something about the dial and the hands... I just don't like the style... So I'd probably start off my collection with a Rolex... Tudor apparently ate quite good watches........a company that does good quality rolex homage style watches with a much more reasonable price tag is a company called pagani..... You can get a well made timepiece for £90...or even $90....these watches include sapphire glass and also have a.. Automatic movement.... I might get myself one to see how I get on with it... I think they even do a Rolex daytona homage which is skelwtonised... Looks the bomb.... Sorry I'm waffling now... Enjoy your evening
Got hired as a part-time firefighter in 2006, I am now career. Casio makes the only watch that has survived firefighting and working full-time as a paramedic before getting a career firefighter job. Hard to beat anything they make, I've destroyed 4 Garmin watches and the Gshocks are simply indestructible.
There are many vintage Swiss Military watches worn in WW2 that are still around ticking today.
I have no doubt on that!
That's cool, man! What G SHOCKS did you buy? Are the bracelet ones weaker than the ones on a rubber strap?
@@appleb305 I have several G shocks. (The 168 he is talking about is not a G shock, but it is pretty durable.). The basic G shock at $40 is just fine, though the upper left button is recessed to make it less likely to hit it by accident. My favorite G shock is the glx 5600, which has moon and tide phases.
God tier watch

This watch means alot to me. Once i was broke but i loved Casio watches. To my 25th birthday i bought this watch to myself and loved it. Unfortunately i had to send it back because i needed the money to buy groceries..
Last year i bought a Omega Seamaster to my 30th birthday and kept it. The Casio reminds me what times i have been through and the Omega reminds me to be thankful for what i have today.
Sold / sent back a CASIO to buy groceries? No one believes you son
No lie I bought my first watch and I got the A168WG-9MV.. this one is my next purchase
I purchased my Casio A168 in June 2016 (for 22.50 euro) and only wore it occasionally as I always had on my F-91W. Today, in September 2021, having just watched this video, I decided to dig out the A168. It is still running and has gained about a minute in 5 years!
Funny, I have two F-91W's
the band broke on the first one quite quickly though, also they removed it form both the classic and vintage section so it's not as easy to find on their site
Really? Mine gains about 2 seconds a day! Maybe I should send it back to Casio to get recalibrated? 😅
@@AZadeh-nd8vxThey would ship you a new one, the time it takes for one to do anything is simply not worth it for them
I bought my A168 in Japan about 7 years ago. And yes, it was about $25. I was surprised how cheap it was, and I'm glad I bought in Japan before returning home, because I noticed more and more Casio's like the A168 or the Databanks being sold in stores. Problem is, they retail for $100 here. I don't know why the price is 4 times the amount, but they're all quite expensive here in Australia. Considering how good the watches are though, I don't blame anyone for paying 4 times the amount I did. Almost had mine 10 years and only thing I've had to replace on it is the slide clasp, which was easily replaceable. I love it.
How many times did you need to change the battery? :o
@@timbonator1 Haven't had to change it yet. I've heard they last 10 years, but idk how true that is.
It could be fake, Japan has less stringing laws on that kind of stuff
I find that so wierd. How can Australia, being so much closer to Japan, have it so much more expensive than over here in Sweden? They go for 32 usd over here
@@Dinstyvmorsa8539 maybe different tariff laws?
I love the way you gave this the same treatment as you'd give a watch 20x the price.
Speaking of the alarm, I have one of these, and spent a few weeks with the alarm going off at 5am every morning, with me being totally unable to locate where the watch actually was. By the time I could wake up and start to hunt it down by sound, it would turn off. Drove me nuts.
Ah, but it succeeded in waking you up, didn’t it?
🤣🤣🤣
Don't judge me. Sometimes, after I've finished building a multimillion-dollar home, I drop my beat up Casio inside an unfinished wall, with the alarm set to some ungodly hour. Just a little reminder of The Working Man, to help the millionaire get settled in.
In the Finnish military it's a custom to hide these in the lockers after your service ends with the alarms set for during all hours of the night to bully the next batch of conscripts.
Albeit, this one deserves more respect than some of the watches 20x it's price!
I've convinced my wife to get me one of these as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. All of my 24 slots in my 2 watch boxes are full, and I'm on a 'one in, one out policy'...... Plus this Casio!
These retro vintage watches were the reason I got into watches in the 1st place! A 7yo me in the 1980's thought these digital watches were the bees knees! I'm so glad Casio is still producing these retro watches. A massive trip down memory lane. I'm currently wearing my Casio Royal. A watch that brings me just as much, if not more joy than most of the more expensive automatics in my collection.
I might need another watch box just to fill up with Casios. They're just so good!
I adore this watch. I think every watch collection should have at least one Casio.
My first 3 watches (gifts) are Casios and I love them. I wear my waveceptor every work day, and it's 15 years old now. I put the Seiko automatic after-work so that I don't have to adjust it every time. Watches are like cars, enjoy every end of the spectrum 👌
Got my Royal/world time a month ago and i absolutely love it
My beater is a Duro that I couldn't imagine not having
How about seven?
I hate this bad advice. There is 0 reasons to collect watches if your collection ideology is to check off checkmarks like owning a g shock, owning a diver, owning a dress watch. I have a casioak and it sucks. It has poor legibility, especially since the LED doesn't light up the entire watch, it's thick and for large wrists, and setting it up is a nightmare. Every collection should have atleast one G shock though right guys???? I think every collection should stop being bloated with cheap quartz watches and misaligned seikos, you're just slowing yourself down from getting a watch you actually want.
Got my sister this watch and she turned into a Casio digital watch collector! It has a cool factor that some watch brands just don't have. For a $25 watch, it just does so much for so little money. It's a watch that even the most snobby watch collector respects.
Im old enough to remember when they would put this watch in candy vending machines, so you would feed it quarters in the hopes of getting this watch!
@jnnx nope, that was the F-91W. Similar looking watch but it's not the same. This is the A168, it's larger and doesn't come with that plastic band like the vending machine F-91W did. If you saw them side by side as a comparison you'd be able to see the difference. I love the A168 model so much. I have 5 different styles of the A168 and I could never choose which one I like most
I love wearing a casio now and again. They always put a smile on my face. You hit the nail on the head, you don't actually need any thing more.
I purchased a Casio 100m resist digital watch back in 1984. In 1990, thereabouts, I gave it to my brother, who still wears it today. Apart from the battery changes over the years, it's still going. Yep. I highly recommend in buying one. Yes. I'm wearing right now a Casio G-Shock Tough Solar 5600-E.
I've had exactly this one for I guess almost 10 years now, before my passion for watch collecting really grew. I still love it and wear it once in a while... the accuracy actually is mindblowing, it has rested in my cupboard for maybe 1 or 2 years and has only lost a few seconds.
Have you ever replaced the battery?
And if you have how often?
@@momoz283 No, not yet… seems to last for ages 😬
Me and my grandfather both have the A168 watch. He gave me the watch the day of my grandmothers funeral so it really means alot to me
I’ve had this watch for over 2 years and beat the heck out of it at swimming and other outdoor activities. I’ve also had more people compliment me wearing this watch over other expensive watches in my collection. When I truly want to go out and have an adventure day without thinking about taking care of my “nice” watch, I just leave the house with this one instead. Please do more videos like these Teddy!
it is selling like hot cake even you can check on ebay, every one has sold in minimum 300 to 400 pcs
I've had my original version since circa 1976. It still works perfectly. I can't remember what I paid for it - a lot more than $25 - but it was money well spent. The battery on mine lasts about 5 years. The perfect no nonsense digital watch that will literally last a lifetime.
Don't be fooled, the new ones are NOT the same quality. I had my old one for 15+ years. The new one i bought last year looked as worn as the old one within 5 months
@@grossteilfahrer Well of course, different industry standards, different materials, completely different time and therefore very different production process. That doesn't mean these things don't still take a punch, only weakness on them that I have come across is the bands are cheap, and that goes for all the vintage makes
My watch survived my work as carpenter and welder but just one accident broke it
I've owned many types of watches, from the Helson Shark Diver, to the Bulova Accutron II re-issue, to the Yema Flygraf. The Casio A-168W-1 is my favorite of all time, bar none.
yes its true i own a shop in busy market and most of army personels only ask for that watch before the black color F16 was their favorite
Does it suit thin wrists ?
@@anirudhnegi4737 yes
For years, I never would've thought I'd wear a digital watch. However, about 5 years ago I bought the A168 and I just can't seem to get it off my wrist. I'll put on a different watch in my collection here and there but the next morning I'm reaching for my A168. It's been entertaining to see other watch enthusiasts express similar appreciation for this simple, yet very functional, time piece that has made it's mark in the watch world for years to come.
Casios are the watches I wear when I'm doing things that might destroy another watch. Casios, especially G-Shocks obviously, wear really well and never disappoint. I used to have the same opinion of Timex, but the last few Timexes I bought were a disappointment. Casio is my go-to durable brand now.
Timex are terrible. Armitron are ok beaters but they're also not as good quality as Casio.
I got my A168 on sale for $15. I now have 6 Casios and one G Shock in my watch collection, but the A168 is the most charming of the lot. I've worn it often and it always puts a smile on my face. Reminds me of a more innocent, happier time.
Those were the days.....
nicely said.So for me
This was my first watch. Now I own a few watches (Seiko, Cartier, Frederique Constant, Tissot) and I still own and love this Casio. This one is so stylish and durable, this watch will never let you down.
Gateway watch. Just like drinking any cola is good for the soda industry as a whole, buying any watch is good for the watch industry overall. That said, I'd never buy a Rolex. I won't even wear one for free.
Sounds like a real shitter collection
I really love how you gave this Casio the same review treatment as all watches on your channel. This watch punches well above its weight class.
Then again, the Orients and Seagulls do get the same attention.
A good watch is a good watch, no matter the price!
my watch collection consist mostly of casio's, i find them more interesting and enjoyable to collect than mechanical watches and they don't cost a lot, unless you're looking for desirable vintage ones then the scalpers will rob you.
I tend to agree. I have one Vostok mechanical because I think everyone should have at least one mechanical (just as everyone should have at least one digital) but I do find myself gravitating towards the design and utility of Casios.
My dad bought a similar casio in 1997 and i've started using it now. It means a lot to him as it costed him a months salary to buy it back in the day. i love the watch, it goes well with any one of my outfits and it means a lot to me as well.
Hi Teddy, can you do a video about watches for the working class? Agricultural jobs, factory jobs, landscaping jobs, and so on. I work in a rough environment and I want a mechanical watch that can keep up with the kind of work I do.
I have done a couple videos about jobs for different occupations. People seem to like those so I’ll probably do more in the future.

CASIO IS GOD 👑 TIER MATE
Came here looking for this. Was NOT disappointed 😁
I bought a Casio A158 with one of my first paychecks, now over 12 years later it is banged up but still working well.
This is just the best everyday wear watch and basically indestructible.
I use to wear the ancestor of this watch in the 1970's as a teenager. Nerdy, yes. But now has a cool retro look. I'll need to pick one up. Thanks!
When I judge something, I look at what the maker is trying to do and how well they achieved that. And from that perspective, this watch is absolutely perfect.
Casio has been part of my collection since I was in high school. Some watches are all show and no go. Casios always deliver.
I’ve had one of these for years. Aside from the price tag, they are appealing in a 1980s sort of way. Like old school MTV and Max Headroom. I’m an 80s child so each time I strap this one on, I’m back in high school. Great review.
Exactly, I love how casio has embraced that sort of retro aesthetic and still makes these watches for those who want that look.
My admiration for this part of the Casio watch range is unending. There is so much fun to be had for a very small investment. I personally have the A158, which I prefer for it's slightly smaller and slimmer case size. The backlight is obviously terrible on that one, but as an overall design I do like it slightly more than the A168.
I own a GWM5610 G-Shock and I use it as a everyday watch. What I love about my watch is that it has Multiband 6 and a solar powered battery. That something iv always hated about wearing a quartz watch is that once the battery dies you have to change which ruins the watches water resistance and most the battery's in some these watches last 2-5 years. Teddy I hope you get your hands on a G-shock with multiband 6 and solar powered capabilities. especially a G-shock square it's my favorite type of G-shock.
My father would always use this style of casio watch when I was a kid, literally for years, I bought it because it reminded me of him and I've been with it for 3 years now wearing it daily.
Love that watch.
Casio is such a great brand with a cool history and a very wide selection. My G-Shock takes serious beatings at my work, and it's nice to know that I never have to worry about breaking it. Usually most of these retro styled classic digital Casios with basic specs are way more expensive where I live, than in the US and other places. This A168 thankfully holds about the same price though.
It's so cool these models are still made, and let's just hope they will continue to make them for a long time. I've been thinking about getting the stelthier version of this with a negative display, the A168WEM. It's around $46 though.
Was literally wearing this when this video got recommended to me. Haven’t told anyone about it, didn’t buy it online. No idea how it knew but I do love this thing
Thank you for reviewing something like this. I get tired of the $25,000 watches. Given the current economic state of the world those are unattainable for probably 99% of your viewers. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a cool interesting watch. And I’m not talking about fashion stuff. I am very grateful that you’re not a watch snob . I got tired of those guys on UA-cam and stopped following them. Just because something is expensive on the watch doesn’t mean it’s interesting or cool
I have also stopped watching some channels because of the tendency to just cover hype models, or mid-high end luxury watches. Teddy, JOMW, Relative Time, and a few others get my views now, because they cover a mix of watches that I find more interesting. Bruce Williams seems to have come back down to earth somewhat, so I watch more of his stuff now as well.
@@Furniture121 JOMW always brightens up your mood. He's such a positive guy. 😄
@@Furniture121 mad watch collection
To be fair, your comment sounds pretty unfair to higher priced watches. Just because they're expensive also doesn't mean it can't be cool or interesting. And just because others cover it doesn't really mean they're watch snobs. It just means people wanna watch that stuff and me too and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with creating or viewing content of more expensive watches and that's regardless of whether you're able to afford them. It's great that we have UA-cam and we can even see those pieces which we might not be able to afford. And even if you can afford some of them it's great to be able to see so many of them, more than you can own. I just think your comment is so negative and critical of expensive watch content when we should all just be glad that we can see them all so conveniently
@@lndyrd You probably have not seen enough of the arrogant watch reviewers out there. It’s not the watches them selves. It’s the fools reviewing them
I just bought this watch today...for 21.75 at Walmart. I'm into that retro Japanese 80s aesthetic...man it's so badass. I wore it today eating sushi with my family. Such a different feeling than checking time on the phone. Never thought I'd miss it, but now it's back!
EDIT: 4:32 *THERE IS AN ADJUSTABLE CLASP AND I DIDN'T KNOW???? I'M GOING TO FEEL EVEN BETTER IN THIS NOW!*
Great video! Your video motivated me to buy similar watch but a different model. I ended up buying Casio A158. After wearing it for sometime, I am in love with the design, weight and simplicity of the watch. Above all it brought me joy wearing it.
Thanks for the memories. Casio A168 is my first watch gifted by my father in 1999. I remember I could not concentrate on school because of the watch - I couldn't stop looking at it and pressing the light button :)
It's amongst the handsomest watches one can wear. Stunning.
As much as I love the A168, I can not wear it just because my eye sight has deteriorated quite a bit , making hard for me to read such tiny screen. Although I wear glasses, I still find it way to small for me.
My first-ever watch was a Casio Marty McFly at age 9, in the early 80s. Then I wore Swatch for the most part of elementary and high school, returning to Casio in college. My Casio Marlin died after its first battery change. I took it to the beach and that was the end of it, salt water leaked into the case and corroded the face and the battery after a few days.
Today I own a black Casi-oak , and my beloved AE-1000W with metal strap, IMO one of the coolest men's watches Casio has ever put out. I'm planning to add a solar-powered Edifice but the model I want is sold out everywhere.
Great video , Teddy! I love everything Casio.
I own the even cheaper plastic version of this (I think it was around £10). I used it for freediving for around 6 months, swimming in salt water for hours every day, diving down below 30m regularly. It's never missed a beat in 5 years of hard ownership, I love it!
I also coincidentally have the seagull 1963 (with moonphase) as my daily watch 😂
Im in the army and the black plastic version was my everyday watch for like 2 years, i evently replaced it with a fitbit style band(for tracking steps, sleep, heartrate, ect) but it was as tough as they come and was always reliable
Its the F-91W,and yeah its the cheapest of the lot.
I am super new to watches and after I watched this video a while back I picked one up. I find myself wearing it more often than not. Being as I don't make an exceptional amount of money. I like knowing I can get a good watch without spending hundreds or even thousands for most brands. Casio is a real winner for me.
Yes teddy! Lots more Casio. Casio just have such a great history and so many worlds firsts in electronics history.
I just bought this watch at my local Walmart for $21.99. I'm 51 with a hairy 7.25 inch wrist, and this is my first metal bracelet watch. I can absolutely agree that it's not a hair ripper. Mineral crystal, nice bracelet and a great module for $22.
I love this watch. I've been wearing one for over 30 years when it was $15. I always swap out the band, but from 1989 to now I've owned four because they last that long.
I’ve owned a Casio WV58A-1AV “world time” “wave captor” for over 15 years. It still sells for around $50 on amazon and has 4.5 stars over 2000 reviews. I recently replaced the strap, which had crumbled while I had it in storage (I didn’t know rubberized plastic straps could disintegrate with age - now I do!). I installed a new battery today and reset the time and date. I think the default year started at either 2001 or 2005. It is a very comfortable, sleek, practical design and has a good backlight. It’s a fantastic value - a cool watch. Also Liam Neeson wears one in “Non-Stop”!
The one that I want to purchase besides Seiko watches for the first time ever. Sure I've some watches that gifted to me, but this one is something special like the legendary F-91 that you mentioned. With this, the special values in this watch IMO is like having the legendary dress watch like F-91 series
My nephew a couple of days ago was showing me his new Casio A168 it brought back memories of High School and just fond times so of course I just ordered one.
I love my F91w. I recently bought a new one and, for a smaller wrist, it is amazingly affordable and usable. Great video!
I bought that same Casio last year and brings back memories of when I was in high school. I used to make fun of people that had cheap watches on their wrists and realized its not about how much you pay for a watch or the status symbol of some brands or how you need to have something to impress others. Its soley about how that watch makes YOU the wearer feel when you have it on your wrist! So I have been buying inexpensive vintage watches, I dont pay much for them and I enjoy each one of them.
now there are many replicas
I bought my A168 a few years ago for £13 (about $16-$17). It shipped from Hong Kong to Scotland in just over a week. I'm not sure if anyone made any money at any point.
lmao
Can be fake replica
@@razer6909 Casio comes up on the screen when you hold in the bottom right button so I think it's genuine.
35 years later... Mine is still working. Got it from my father 1980+ ish and still going strong! Found it in a box of Tissot, Citizen I got from him yesterday and after a fresh battery it just jumped back to life! had to get the strap from a noname among them.. there where several of those... got a couple, named before, nice once and this one out of the bag. He just got a Citizen Ecco-Drive from me renovated so I feel I got the better hand in this deal... ;) He is 89 this month so I thought the Ecco-Drive was a good last a life time deal for him annyway. Great fun to see some one like you talk about a clasic like this A168. there is a few other brands as well in this range so keep em comming!
My A158W is a beautiful little thing. I can imagine the slightly larger case with nicer backlight is even better. But I do love my little F91W in “chrome”. It’s tough, it’s cheap, and the WR rating is a lie. I can’t kill it. I think the “horrible” backlight is fine. Maybe I got lucky and got a bright one.
I haven’t found the bracelet to pull my arm hair, and I’m a hairy wog. It’s more comfortable than most of my Seiko and Citizen bracelets. Not bad when the watch costs less than the bracelet on these alone. Lol.
The only downside to them is that in Australia, they are jacked up in price to the point where it becomes challenging to justify the cost. But the second hand market isn’t too scarce.
I dig the 168. During winter it pairs so well with a black pea coat.
Yes, it can be very fashionable whilst still looking practical and tough….and extremely affordable.
Those are its best features, I think.
I love this watch. Always makes me smile when I wear it
I wear a Casio now. It is model number W216H. I mainly got it because it is inexpensive to replace/fix and I don't have to mess around remembering to charge my watch. It's so simple and basic. I work security and I can't be accused of texting or making calls with my watch so I wear it at work. As an adult who grew up in the 80s, it is a great retro piece too. Another reason I like to wear it, is the hourly chime. It's my favorite feature. This Casio watch is great for what it is and what it does.
Teddy I was looking for the perfect Casio to put in my everyday carry and you made it easy - thank you!
Love this watch, bought it new in 1996 still have its plastic sleeve and cardboard cover and it's still on its original battery. I've only ever rarely used the alarm hourly beep or the main alarm and only worn it occasionally since 1998 when I bought a new watch as my daily. So the light hasn't been used much. I still can't believe it's on the same battery. Hands down a great watch to use as a daily or use when you fancy a change and want that retro feeling. 10/10
Wow, great video. This really changed my perspective when I look at people who is wearing A168. Are they wearing it for nostalgic and own other heavy hitter horology at their bank vault or they are wearing as their only watch they own. Wow! Both ways show the range of reasons why people wear watches.
I purchased this watch for just the classic look and retro face and I absolutely love it in my collection. Love the content and can’t wait for more
Teddy opens a whole new world in the watch industry, this is great.
Thanks Ted, the voice of sanity in a mad world of watches and Covid, had me first Casio in 1982, was the beezneez of schoolkid "must haves", keep the vids coming...
Brilliant to see a Teddy review on one of the most affordable modern classic brands. I've had many Casio watches over the years since the 1980's when I started work. I have no idea how many I had over that 40 year+ period but none of them ever failed due to a manufacturing fault. Most had resin bands that failed or got damaged during my misspent youth on a motorcycle. I still have some of my originals 'somewhere' after some house moves but I have re-purchased some over recent years and they do get wrist time. As a tool to tell the time you could argue why would you buy another watch as you say. A great point but the watch community is not head or logic driven but heart driven. That heart for me anyway applies to watches that are quartz digital, analog or mechanical regardless of the brand name on the dial. Great review Teddy.
I have a whole collection of mostly sub $100 AUD Casios and I love them all.
I seriously could not get any more joy from owning any other watches.
I have been waiting for ages in the hope you would review one of (my) beloved Casios and you didn't disappoint. Keep your great videos coming 👍
The A168 is a durable, utilitarian watch - enough features and a reasonable price point to satisfy most users. One drawback: the angular corners on the case, over time, snag, wear and tear sweaters, sweatshirts and long sleeve shirts.
In a sense, this is the low end of what a tool watch is all about. It is not about style but almost all about function. The satisfaction comes in using this watch to improve your awareness of events in time and being able to respond to them, regardless if the style is retro or not. My only problem with the alarm is that I cannot hear it if I have worn it while my arm is wedged under a pillow (for support).
The evil boss is wearing this model in the "Squid game"
This is absolutely gorgeous. I was devastated when my timext80 strap fell off a few months ago. Doesn’t look like replacing it is an option. This looks like the best replacement.
I have one of these in my top 10 rotation. Absolutely love it.
I’ve own this specific watch for 4 years now. I wear it every single day. I have not changed the battery and it’s still as good as new. Only a few scratches on the glass but nothing too bad.
Another cheap, reliable and cool option is the Casio F91W, Could you make a list with cheap minimalist (Or Bauhaus Style) watches for men?, Thanks for you videos and content
I got the sightly different option of the F91W- so not the blue ascents, but brown / gold outline on the dial. Very subtle green / grey screen. Love it.... getting used to the size so that I'm ready when that 36mm Explorer becomes available in a few years!
No one can forget F91W. The only solid watch that costs less than a fast food dinner for two.
Obama once wore the f91w
Obama once wore the F91W
@@KK-zj2gc Obama as also Osama
Had one of these as a child and it was great. Just bought another this morning and love it again already
Also it was marked 21 and some change at Walmart and after tax would have been 24 but I got a 3 year warranty for 4 bucks it came out to less than 29 with that. A steal
though I have a small wrist and its a bit hard to get it in the right spot that is always comfortable. also i have long wrist hair and it doesnt pull
I have this and love how light and comfortable it is. It has a wicked taper to the band as well. Love the content Teddy, your channel kills it.
Got this watch a few months ago for the nostalgia, but it’s actually such a great watch. I’ve been collecting watches for maybe 5ish years now and parted with money for many divers, pilots and field watches…even dwelling into the luxury end of the scale, but ironically this watch is the one that I’ve received the most comments about. It’s super comfortable, stylish and easy to use functions. I wear it everywhere at the moment, even to the gym as the stop watch is great for a quick timer. Wish I’d found this watch earlier. Super cool from Casio 🙌
Had one of these gave it to my son he loves it, the cheapest watch I own is a casio F-91W. The A-168 has much better Luminescence at night than the F-91W but then it only costs £9.99 either can't be beaten on price.
I have never seen your videos before & you showed up in my recs. I clicked because i literally own this watch & i absolutely adore it
I bought this watch for my 14 year old. His other watch is an "entry level" G Shock (about $55), but it's a bit large and doesn't fit well under the cuff of his school's uniform shirt. I bought this watch at Walmart ($20). It fits perfectly with his uniform and, although it's old school, it has a cool "timeless" look. Casio's are a great value!👍🏽✌🏽
DW-5600 would perfectly fit his wrist, im 15 with really thin wrists and it slaps on perfectly
Got my A168 today. Very impressed. Neat, light, eminently wearable, tells me the time, day and date And, yes, why do I even have any other watches? Certainly not for any logical reason.
I'd love to see a watch like this in a more premium package: full stainless steel with an upgraded solid bracelet and 100m WR. I'd totally drop $100 on something like that and have the ultimate beater. I guess the next best thing is the all-steel G-Shock? The price is a bit of a deterrent for that watch though.
Check out the A700 series. Very similar style, more steel.
My thoughts exactly!
@@EliasZuniga The style is not similar enough, sadly.
you might be interested in the a1000 series, they have full stainless steel cases and different bracelets, but I don’t believe they’re any more water resistant than the a168. still might be worth looking into though
It doesn't need 100mtrs,I've seen these tested to way below 100mtrs
I once had the A168 in the gold edition as a teenager around 1985. Sweet memories! 😍
And of course the ubiquitious F91 for sports and work. 🙂
Fun fact: Ryan Gosling wears one of these when he’s not rocking a Rolex
Who?
Good reason not to wear one then if a Hollywood demon wears one.
i actually got one of these after seeing TGV's video on Ryan Gosling
Fun fact urban gentry has a woody for Ryan gosling.
Seems there's quite a few immature or insecure folks here who like to "Who?" at celebrities or mock UA-camrs like TGV who made content on a celebrity. If that's what it takes to prop up your insecure little egos 😂
When I was in elementary school, mother bought me knock off Chinese copy of a cult F91 Casio. Lost it to the water being poured over it. Fast forward to 2017, when going trough mall center I saw a Casio OD store and saw A168 and instantly fell in love with it. Costed around 40 euros. After 5 years on my wrist, there are few scratches, dents, whatever, but it still works, tells me time, wakes me up with alarm and I use stopwatch on regular basis. It really does the job and is so slim and comfortable to wear. Love it!
If you do anymore videos like this I think the Casio AQ-160W is a good one worth a look. It's my 5th pick, much cleaner without so many labels, 100M water resistance and cost me just $26
I have owned and enjoyed those before. If the case is now plastic I'm not interested. One of my favorite quartz watches are like their MQ24-7B2. They look great on thin wrists, minimalist and formal, and that hairline second hand is technically very impressive for a watch costing even less than the A168. The hands are accurately set on every one I have seen. there are slight variations of the same watch for you to try. Their achilles heel is the strap's durability. When it starts disintegrating a new one costs less than a good watch strap!
More Casios! Ive bought 6 blue Duros with Bracelets as gifts. Huge crowd pleaser! My brother just keeps switching out NATOs.
My "bluro" is my favourite Casio. It is a true strap monster 🤓🤙
@@martinturgeon3849 yeah he just got a new collection of straps and is the happiest man rn lol. Kinda jealous of him, hes satisfied with just one watch and a bunch of straps.
A very long time ago while working at Xerox I was given a Casio F91W but with a strap that was a gounding strap with a metal strip attached to the plastic bracelet. We would ground ourselves while fixing the electronics boards. Even had a plastic window that was a stick on that said XEROX. This was in the late 80 early 90s. I still have that watch and probably 10 battery swaps. The strap wore and split at the buckle, no problem, a new strap was $1 on EBay, fixed. Still keeps great time.
This is a great Casio, after many expensive watches I am now really learning to appreciate the cheap Casio watches.
its true
Used to own this watch as a teenager (gift from father). Lasted for about 10 years after plastic case failed in the area of cylinder bracelet attachment. Nice memories.
I have always argued that this is a fine example of a digital dress watch. The metal bracelet is one of the few designs that I don’t regard as “evil” due to its ease of adjustment on the fly.
Dress watch?? no lol
I still have the watch even tho it been 7 years I haven't changed the battery at all, it shows dedication to casios good quality and care
I used to have a G-shock, but then I downgraded and went with the F-105W (I believe), the one with the aqua blue backlight. Way more compact and lighter. It was the very first watch I had as a kid and they are very durable.
That's not a downgrade.
My cousin gifted me the Casio about 15 years ago and it’s still running like new. Great watch 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Purchase another one with the gold face this weekend and I’m excited 😊
Once I looked down on my boss' Big Bang while wearing a God Tier F-91W. Does it make me a watch snob?
It makes you a better human being
At least you had a quality watch and not a Hublot.
Is your boss' big bang a euphemism for something?
when i had to go to the army a few years ago, we had to lock our phones away during the day. so to keep track of the time while being outside i need a watch and bought this one. i still have it and have worn it every day since then. its now almost 5 years and its still running without any issues. one of the best investments ive ever made
Casio has quite a few "Best in class" watches if you ask me - and these lower end digital are in a class of their own! Everyone should own at least one Casio in his lifetime! (not that it`s easy to have just one... I have 4...)
I had one of these Casio watches 1980's. I loved it. After a few years, I lost it. I saw one at a jeweller the other day and my heart skipped a beat. Will be buying one again.
