In the Air Force, I flew with my father's Hamilton A-11 watch my entire career and had it rebuilt several times over the years, but I will say the last few years I was flying bombers most of the aircrews were wearing G-Shocks and I will admit it is a damn good watch, I would say almost a perfect watch, it is tough and reliable. Right now I wear a Casio Duro because I gave my A-11 to my son when he graduated from Air Force pilot training.
I love Hamilton’s. My first suit watch was a Hamilton which was a gift from my brother. It was the Hamilton Jazzmaster, he also got me a gshock so I could wear the rugged Gshock when I was going biking, hiking or camping and I could wear the Hamilton on dates, or interviews. Hamiltons and G-shocks are two Must-haves for any young man just starting out.
Why G-Shock? 1. Because they allow you to assemble a collection on a budget. 2. They are respected all over the world 3. They are tough as nails 4. They keep incredibly accurate time 5. They come in an infinite number of styles, sizes, and colors to meet any occasion. 6. They are fun! 7. There are many G-Shocks groups where members can sell/trade 8. They are easy to service 9. They are widely available 10. Because good value never goes out of style.
I wouldn’t call them a “starter watch”. What they are, are watches that are as accurate as it gets, and are more durable than anything else on the market. They may not have the cool factor of a high end automatic, but inasmuch as telling time, and being bombproof (metaphorically speaking) they are the cream of the crop. But they do have their own Kryptonite: bug spray with DEET.
I’m quite new in the watch collecting scene, and I wasn’t really a G-Shock guy, but took the plunge on an affordable entry-level black CasiOak a few months ago. It wasn’t getting much wrist time till it became a trusted companion when I spent weeks moving flats, and building Ikea furniture, and moving boxes, and drilling walls… ever since, it gained a special place in my collection.
I picked up the 9052 right after boot camp. It survived 4 deployments and an ungodly amount of time in the field. 16 years later and I’ve replaced a battery and a band. Absolute god tier watch brand! I’ve got 4 G-Shocks now but my son will get my original because we all know it will outlast me. Great video
My first watch was a GShock Gw6900 I'd bought for lifeguarding in college . Got me into watches and the entire game. I'm wearing my Casioak right now with a modded bezel and it still serves as my everyday beater among my various budget automatics. It is a true testament to the quality available for such an accessible price and still with such provenance in the field.
Casio is such an amazing brand. I'm planning on getting a Casio Duro and modifying it (replacing the glass with sapphire glass and replacing the band with a stainless steel bracelet). Essentially, I would theoretically be able to get a watch that runs on Japanese quartz, that just so happens to be of 200m water resistance and a watch that is supposed to be relatively durable thanks to the sapphire glass. All for the low price of roughly 80 USD.
@@Enthusiast230 I did that, though I upgraded my Duro with a flat blue AR Sapphire crystal and silicone Barton strap. Probably the best value diver around!
@@Enthusiast230 love my Duro. Looks great on a Nato strap. Hadn't thought about modding it. A sapphire crystal sounds intriguing. I'm going for the Casioak to mod. I love the full metal, but whoa, the cost. Modding makes more sense and I can make it exactly what I want.
@@TheTrueHasenfeffer I've done a good amount of research on the various websites that do sell Casio Duros. I managed to find one that is selling a black Casio Duro, with a stainless steel bracelet for roughly 30 USD. This includes shipping by the way. The sapphire crystal costs 19 USD with free shipping. Theoretically I should be able to get a Casio Duro with sapphire and a stainless steel strap for 49.33 USD 😂. What I'm worried about is that it's a scam because it sounds too good to be true. However everything lines up. From the specs of the watch to the reviews.
@@TheTrueHasenfeffer I have never tried a watch with a NATO strap, is it really worth the hype? Casio Oaks do seem really interesting to be honest, I know nothing about them but they come off as extremely versatile and durable. Would you recommend getting one?
“Casio G shock, they are bad ass” great quote and so true! I have the square DWM5610U and I could not be happier with it. I also have a 40 year old Casio DW 1550 that is my most venerable watch in my 20 watch collection. Casio is just awesome!
G-Shock is amazing. I am using my two-watch collection for years - Rolex OP 39 on Mon-Fri for work, G-Shock Rangeman 9400 for weekends. Very happy with that now.
I’ve had 4 G’s in my adulthood: not once has the battery lasted 10 years 😂 but I have literally grown into the habit of only wearing G-Shocks when I travel, and using their back light as an actual mini flashlight to navigate hotel rooms in the middle of the night. There’s no such thing as a bad G-Shock. My 7 year old daughter is getting a white and clear Baby-G for Christmas and I can’t wait to see her open it.
As a commercial fisherman boat carry, I ended up buying the GBX-100 due to the Bluetooth capability that will display when I get phone notifications as well as GPS based tides.
Got into collecting a couple years ago and bought my first ever mechanical watch (had a couple no name $15 watches when I was a teenager), a Seiko Recraft SNKN37. Loved it! ...then it got scratched while wearing it at work(I do roadside assistance change flat tires/replace batteries etc)🤦 Bought a G-shock the next day! Greatest work watch ever! The hourly chime helps keep the time in my head. The alarm reminds me when to sign on/off. The auto light helps since I work at night. Just turn my wrist to check the time and it lights up without me having to push a button. Solar powered, so I never need batteries. Just set it in the window when I get off work. I don't keep my phone on me when helping customers so when doing paperwork, I have the date readily available without having to grab my phone. All these tiny little advantages really add up day after day.
Too late Teddy, I have 6 G-shocks in my collection, two of them have more than 10 years and still working (solar powered). And there's always a reason to wear one, some are heavy duty, some are just cool and colorful, they've seen dirt, petrol, chemical fertilizers, sea water, sand, etc. I do believe scratches are an improvement one some of these
One thing I love about my GA-B2100 is that the Bluetooth connection with my iPhone using the Casio app updates the current time zone when I travel internationally. As soon as my phone connects to the local cell network, I connect my watch, and the hands spin, and the date changes to match my location. More fun than a GMT!
My grail watch is actually the G-Shock GWG2000 Mudmaster. It is so advanced that the hands actually move out of the way when you want to access certain functions to make it easier to read said functions. How many other watches can do this? The number of complications on this G-Shock is just amazing. By the way, please make a video of quartz watches with sick complications. I don't think there's another video out there on this so this content would definitely be unique. Thanks
It's just another reason that G-shocks are great. The mudmaster also has Triple sensor, saphire glass and other top of the line stuff. My GA-2000 does the same moving of the hands but each watch is great and has a unique spin to it . Gwg-1000 and GWG-2000 are amazing watches.
I have the GWG-2000 and I can confirm they are great watches. my gwg-2000 gets the most wrist time of any watch i own. Get the blackout 2k if you can. it wears best with anything. the sand one is my second favorite.
I had a analogue looking Festina years ago that could do that. It had a small dial with a small hand at the 6 o clock position that indicated which mode you were in, had 2 Alarms, a countdown, stopwatch, second timezone, a setting for calibrating the hands and the last function i can't remember. and the hands moved the shortest way to the next function (so not always clockwise but both ways). It also was very durable. But getting watchstraps for it every 2 years and no indication for when the battery died was what made me go look for something else. And what sealed it's "death" was that there were no replacement seals available anymore. (when the watch was 9 years old) A big advantage with G-shocks (or digital watches in general) is that you notice when the battery gets low. (My Festina just stopped wihtout warning. It ran precise until it stopped every 3 years and i hated that) I bought a G-Shock as replacement in 2007 and still have it (it still runs on it's first "10 years" battery!) But it gets very few wrist time as i switched to a mechanical watch. (a mechanical watch also never stops out of nowhere, and i like the thought that my handmovements are enough to power the watch and it needs no battery) But the G-shock still gets used as alarm clock each day.
I love my GWG2000 but do look at the 9400 rangeman as well if you just want the functions. For around half the price it does it all, and it's easier to use as you don't need to fiddle with the screw down crown to adjust settings. That said the GWG2000 is a beauty to look at and spends a lot of time on my wrist.
Teddy, I can vouch for the toughness of G-Shock watches. I had the original in the early-mid 1980s when I was in the US Navy; I can't remember if it was the DW5000, but it was that shape. I was NOT easy on that watch! I used it for manual labor, working with air tools, handling missiles, standing watch, snorkeling, surfing, etc. It was dropped in paint, cleaned off with solvent, etc. NOTHING could kill that watch; whatever punishment I dished out to it, it came back for more! I've been a fan of the brand ever since. I now have a G7900, a GA1000, and a GA140; my next acquisition will be the GA100. I CAN'T WAIT to get it! As I write this, I have my GA1000 on; it's one of my favorites in my collection... :)
I have several watch's but since I had the experience of picking a casioak over a citizen diver I can tell you that I never ever regretted my decision..I just bought a different g shock as a treat for Xmas in bright red to add to my collection..I think it will look quite outstanding..
I have ten different G-Shocks in my collection, none of which cost me above $150 AUD and they all have their own unique character and design aesthetic. Casio really are horological geniuses👍
Great summary, Teddy! I have several (relatively affordable) G-Shocks, and I just love them. They are so reliable and so versatile. When G-Shock watches can motivate someone as knowledgeable as Teddy Baldassarre to use the word 'badass' as a descriptor, you know that they're in a class of their own.
i have been using my mission impossible Casio G-Shock MTG-910D for 14 years, atomic , solar...most of the black has scratched of braclet, but still works fine, my 1st g shock and i love it.
Never wanted a Gshock. Actually never wanted a watch until recently at age 40. After trying a few on today for the first time ever, and watching Teddy explain it better (of course), I think this will be my first watch. Thanks!
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from amzwatch and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
gw b5600bc-dr....is probably the best G shock as in best for maximum functionality for your buck..... imagine a 200 usd with tough solar, multiband 6, 20 bar water resistant, bluetooth, world time, with composite band , mineral glass screen of course with the same shock resistant as per g shock watches, and etc...got the gold screen with all black and you have an all rounder not to mention a watch to sync your other watches....a must in your collection ( its my 2nd XD)
It's good to reward ourselves sometimes . While I'm not one to spend on high-end watch (I spend too much money on travel, lol), I can appreciate your gorgeous and timeless watch. I love how it's a symbol of all your hard work. And i choose NKUWAN every time honestly
A small thing I noticed with Casioaks is that some of the models aren't super legible so you might want to take that into consideration when buying one. I personally got the GM2100G-1A9 with gold case and hands. Looks very clean. Absolutely love that watch
This video came at the perfect time. I’m considering buying a grey Casioak- honestly the stylish design and rich features for a price around $100 USD is impressive. My Casio Duro (on a bond nato) has been my daily wear since I moved into my new apartment this summer, and buying a g-shock to finish out the year just feels right.
Just got a GAE-2100RC (Casioak Rubiks Cube) from my son for christmas... they told me they were sold out and difficult to find but somehow he found some collector in Japan who was willing to part with it.. I grew up in the 70's / 80's and was a Rubik's cube nerd so I'm so happy with it. I have 10 casio's (mostly retro) and this is my second G-shock.. and from now on my favourite! I started to get into automatic/mechanical watches and bought two great seiko's, (cuz i'm not a gazzillionaire), but now with this awesome Rubiks Cube G-shock I think what will be on my wrist most of the time! .. (So damn happy :))
I call G-Shocks the “Bro” watch, and for a good reason 🤜🏾💙🤛🏻 When I was in the Army, almost everyone in my units wore G-Shocks. I even got one, because, heck, when in Rome! Now I’m into watches and can see the quality and how they’re always getting better….PLUS…they allow you to customize like how Nike allows you to customize colors and even putting your own spin on names on the face of the watch. Good job being forward thinking, Casio 🏆
I found your video very interesting. After wearing and owning 2 smart watches, it came to a point what I realized that I didn’t need the additional hassle of having to charge and having to deal with buzzing notifications, every three seconds, I realized I did not need my email or my text on my watch. Back in 2021 I bought my first GA 2100. That was my pathway to becoming a G-Shock lover I own now, six of them. I have two of my dailies and four others for special events . I do get many compliments from people who are not used to seeing these watches in the world smart watches. But most of all I have realized that I don’t have to worry about him. I do not have to be careful. I do not have to charge them and it doesn’t matter if they get scratched, it doesn’t I don’t have to take it off, ever not even when I’m washing the dishes. I don’t have to take it off at all. The gym, at work, the pool, working on the backyard, working on my car, running, biking, hiking. It can withstand it all. I love them. I do not feel the need to buy a watch that is thousands of dollars that I’m not even going to wear because I’m afraid it will get scratched or hurt.
I've bought couple of GShocks over the years, the one has the most wrist time is my CasiOak GAB2100. It checked all the boxes for what I need like it's thin for a GShock, tough solar, bluetooth & a bright LED. Having a multiband 6 is cool & all, but from where I live, it's next to impossible to find a signal. So bluetooth will do for me. As for LED, most Ana-Digi GShock light under $200 are as anemic. Could barely see the time in the dark. GAB2100 on the other hand has one of the brightest LED.
Fantastic video, Teddy. It is hard to make sense of the vast options. I got a casioak for myself earlier this year, and immediately my wife wanted one for herself (which I bought her for her birthday) I love the watch. It looks great, you forget about it (it is light and you know it can withstand more than yourself) and should something happen to it, you did not spend a fortune on it, so no worries.
I don't have many watches, but my fav is my Casio MTG G1000d. In my opinion it's one of the best looking and precisely made watches in this price range. I get compliments on it whenever it's worn.
The 5610 series (square) is one of my favorites. It's an improvement on the original 5600 back in 1983. Has atomic timekeeping and is solar powered. Absolutely love it. Have beat the hell out of it for 2 years and it keeps going. Also picked up a Mudmaster for real cheap a couple years ago in great shape.
i bought one in 86 at the px at FLW. it went through basic, ait, dli (luxury), air assault school, arctic warfare school, and 'the army' for 4 years. it followed the dead for a few months after i got out. i replaced the battery and strap once each. it was abused. hell, it loaded trailers and worked on the air ramp at UPS. it died in the mid 90's. 10 years of absolute and complete unrelenting abuse. i wore it playing golf from the mid 80's too. quite a shock to the watch as well! i had a couple of other watches so didnt replace it. but, i was sad. my friend died. i'll confess, i took it to the local guy to fix it, he just shook his head. i still have it in a drawer with medals and concert tickets and such. well, now i'm older, more successful, have a couple omegas and some other nice pieces...but what would round out the collection? a G. thanks, teddy. i strapped it on today and all of that came rushing back.
I would mention on the gbx/Gbd models, they’re using new MIP displays that many people love, and might start replacing most module displays in the future
Worn a G Shock GW-9400 for years. I’m a Firefighter/Rescue Technician. Watch has been through hell and back and still performs. So old the matte black finish has been polished to a fine shine due to wear.
In the military 20 years. Had 4 G Shocks. Never broke one; only lost them every so often. One I found again a few years later in a mobility bag. GW9400-1 Rangeman has been my favorite, so far. May God bless Casio.
Great video, Teddy. Not a G-Shock guy, and not a guy to buy a watch “because I should,” but I can see your point and appreciate the respect this line has earned. Maybe I’ll put a Casioak in the queue, and see if it ever makes it to the top of the list.
Currently wearing my GW-5610U. Ensures it's accuracy every night, easy to read display, good for 200 meters, chronograph and an alarm, my sub $150 G-Shock is much more than a tool watch than any Swiss product.
My wife bought me my first G for Christmas, the G-STEEL GST-S100 Series GSTS100G-1B and I love it. Its upgraded with the steel case and is the most comfortable watch I've ever owned plus its tough as hell and looks awesome! Problem is I cant decide which one I want next! For the price I kind of like the casioak all metal. Decisions decisions. :)
I got into wearing watches working in warehouses, needing them to tell time at a glance. Nothing beats Casio as a warehouse watch with their accuracy, durability and easiness to read. The love I grew from wearing Casio wristwatches at work is what got me into collecting wristwatches. There’s nothing like the feel of wearing a good watch and knowing how much you enjoy that watch, its looks and your sentimental love and memories tied to these time pieces.
I would like to thank my father for introducing me to G-Shocks. As a kid that time I wasn't all that excited by it because it looked so big for my small wrist. Fast forward through the years it lasted more than my other watches the durability and its ruggedness it survived my kid years and early adulthood. I still keep and use my first G-Shock and people are intrigued it looks old and been through a lot but it still works as good as the day it was bought. Over a decade of use and still very tough Casio makes them very well.
I’ve had two G-Shocks in my life. My best compliment I can give them is they are incredibly durable and tough. I wear mine when I know I’m doing something active and I don’ t want to subject my nicer watches to scrapes and scratches (think a trip to Universal Studios).
One of my G-Shocks I had for 14 years before it had issue, some of that time saw plenty of field time in the Army, the only reason I had to retire it was because the backlight blew out on me one night so was no good for field use any more. Other than that its still going strong and closer to 22+ years old now.
I've got 3 G-Shocks in my collection (a vintage DW-003, a GW-M5610-1ER and my all-time favorite, the GM-2100-1AER). For me, G-Shock represents the sweet spot between people who couldn't care less about horology but just want a versatile, everyday timepiece, and full-on watch enthusiasts. I started collecting watches in 2021, but even back when I was a kid and never heard of Rolex or Omega, I admired G-Shocks for their in-your-face designs and knew every model by heart. You're absolutely right: There really is a G-Shock for everyone!
Thanks Teddy for the video. I own several Casios, including the AE-1200 (World Time) and D8C-32 (Data Bank/Calculator), but my first G-Shock was the classic DW series. Forgot the model number, but it was yellow and black, all digital with a bumper guard. Being young and unappreciative, I lost it somewhere. That was over 30 years ago. Early this year I got the MTG B1000 and love it in every way. And this Christmas I'm getting the all-metal Casioak (GM-B2100BD). My next purchase would be one of the full metal GMW-B5000 series. Suddenly I'm just falling in love with G-Shocks again. The quality, the design, and the concept, are unique and unrivalled.
Great video! I have Tudor black bay, Bell & Ross from early 2000's and vintage Omega. Purchased Casioak last month and love it a much as my other watches.
Again another great video ! I have owned a G-Shock since 1988, I have never been let down by one, i have never been "snobbed" wearing one, i believe i would laugh out loud if i was :) I have put my G-Shocks through military way of life ( very hard living ) construction ( almost abusive way of life ) and when members of the watch community assigns the title to Casio as GOD tier, i could not agree more. Yes i also feel watch collectors would be amiss if they don't have at least one G-Shock. My G-Shocks are my daily drivers, admittedly they do not "patina" like an old Rolex or Omega, but they do show hard wear pretty well. I have an older 6900 that has some excellent scars, it's seen more action than most.
Great model introduction to G-Shock's. I'm a fan of the CasioOak design aside from the fact that the colors I'm interested in are difficult to read unless in perfect lighting, especially the minute markers.
I sort of modded it to make the hands and indices more legible, especially in the dark. Just went to Michael’s and got a small pot of Glow in the dark poster paint in lime green, easy to open and work on the module. Now with a little flash of UV light, that sucker is readable ALL night. 👍🇨🇦
Finally bought a G Shock GW-6900 after wanting a DW-6900 since middle school. I absolutely love it and can't stop staring at it. In my opinion the 6900 is the most classic and best looking G Shock
I own a Casio Oak, the one with the blue resin strap and the grey front. Which is shown a few times on your video. As far as G Shocks go, i feel it's a nice looking watch and very comfortable on the wrist.
G shock mud master G-9000 in desert tan made it through three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan whe I was in the army . Still have the watch and it great shape too , crazy .
Great video. Wanted to add that the Casioak GA-2100 is a great watch to mod. You can put the internals into a full metal body, from black, to steel, to rose gold (colour),. Chang the hour marker ring (maybe adding one with lume, or just more fun colours). Or, if you are comfortable doing so, changing the dial, and hands. The dials out there work with the ga-2100, ga-2110, and ga-m2100. They will fit the ga-b2100, with the tough solar, and Bluetooth, but as of now, have yet to see any with the correct markings on the dial. The ga-2100 has M, T, W ..S on the left for week days. The ga-b2100 does not use that area for the days. One last thing, some people find the white text on the black digital display hard to read. There are some models with black text on white, and if your eyes are not great, maybe worth looking at images of both, to see if you need one of those.
love the casioak, not too big and gets the job done. Have a bunch of luxury watches (Rolex etc...), but find myself wearing the gshock a lot. Every man should have one.
I spent 5 years in the Marine Corps, every company under the sun has some sort of military themed, or officially issued, or heritage or some other marketing jazz. But I can count the number of times I saw a watch that wasn't a g-shock on one hand.
Love mamacoo the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the watch. I don't think any other UA-camr can show off watches in as much detail as you.
Love G-Shocks. As much as I admire the craftsmanship of mechanical watches, if I could only own one watch, it'd be my GWM-5610 - square, light, 200 m WR, atomic timekeeping and Tough Solar - what's not to love? Everything you need in a watch for $100, more or less. Excellent video as always, Teddy. Happy Holidays!
I’ve loved watches my entire life. Been collecting luxury watches a few years. I never liked G shock but the casioak line is more sleek and I just bought one today. Watch journeys are interesting….
Had the basic $40 square for years. Used it to time starts in sailboat racing and also as a general beater watch. Eventually the strap started to crack so I decided to upgrade. After snooping around the net I built a MR-G clone for ~$300 - solar, multiband 6, titanium case and bracelet. Now I can't hardly get it off my wrist. So light and comfortable. Classic chunky G-shock look in the dull luster of titanium. I very much like it.
ngl, I’ve been looking at so many expensive automatic watches, that I never stopped to think about just getting a really good quartz watch fir the same price of a mid-tier automatic
I love my Casioak, I'm at the beginning of what I hope to be a great watch collecting adventure and this was my first buy. The styling is great, a coworker with a Seamaster asked me what it was which always feels good, and I like having the LCD set to UTC. It's also cool to see the hands move on their own when you set the time electronically. Feels like more tech than you paid for and I love that kind of value.
It’s not a “cheap” watch. It a highly functional, great value watch. Whenever I am talking with watch people,…value always plays a prominent role in the conversation. Cheap?? Ha!
With 8 years I got my Baby-G. Then in my teens I upgraded to a solar powered radio controller G-Shock. Now I’m in my thirties and I just got myself a Bluetooth Casioak. G-Shocks are just great and I can’t wait to give one to my son, once he is old enough.
I bought the first MR-G titanium when they introduced them in 96. Model 110T. Wore it in Iraq and Afghanistan. I still wear it once a week and is by far my favorite watch in my collection.
I had a G-Shock, my very first quality watch, save my wrist from being broken by a 25mm cannon in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. It’s replacement has been in the family for 8.5 years now and is still going strong.
I love my metal square. The negative screen is great, and you get used to the weight. The proportions are fabulous, and the resin band is very comfortable. The finishing embarasses some swiss watches, too.
Thanks for the video. Although above average height, my wrist is slim and my farmer's budget is tight. However I live and work outside in the Wet Tropics and every watch I've had has expired within 2 years. I just learned about G shock last week from my Japanese friend and found a GA 2100 on sale and am awaiting it by mail. My friend also sent me here and you have educated me! I don't like big watches but have decided to put up with it for its alleged lifespan.
You would love it. Every seafarer in the world has a g shock , just because how much beating it can take in all weathers. Mine has been through salt water , paint and ice and still works perfectly after 3 years.
Wet and hot tropic fellow here, of all the watches I've bought, only the gshocks have survived the sun, heat, shocks and salt water. They're truly undestructible and can take anything, and squares or gmas2100 fit perfectly on my small 6" wrist.
Love my g shocks, even compared to many of my more expensive ones! Love that you called out the snob aspect, analog doesn't need to be automatic. Though most of mine are :) there's good in everything!
Great vide Teddy. I bought my G-8900A World Time watch years ago. It has been bashed and beaten and I even accidentally ran over it with a 3000kg motorhome after installing new rear shock absorbers. I can't call a watch indestructible, but this watch is still working. Like you said Teddy, everyone should have a G-Shock. Regards, Jas. VK4FJGS Rocky Qld.
I have many expensive Swiss watches but when i go out i get far more positive comments when wearing a GSHOCK or Edifice. They have an almost universal appeal.
Recently sold every watch i had and only wear a GShock. Had automatics (Seiko, TAG, Oris, Longines, Hamilton) they’re just hassle free no nonsense simple and fun!
A great video Teddy as usual. Although I love mechanical watches like you I do not discount owning a watch that is quartz powered. I love the G-Shock brand to the point where I now split my collection to mechanical or analogue and Casio watches. Beware buyers of that 1st G-shock there will be more that you want as these super robust machines can be addictive. Brilliant watches that are very well made. Square, analogue, Bluetooth, solar, metal or resin I have time for them and they do get wrist time more than you might think
Eu sou completamente fã do G-shock. Recomendo demais!
What to know before you buy a metal g-shock - You can buy aftermarket metal cases and bracelets for many models. Transfer in a module from a cheaper resin cased g-shock and bam.
that was incredible. what a beautiful watch and what great work you did on it!I love AMZWATCH watch!! Dream watch! Everytime I wear it, makes me feel amazing!
I'm a Chef and a watch obsessed nerd. And I almost ALWAYS wear my G-Shock GA 2100 almost daily at work if I'm actually going to be cooking and not doing office work. It looks good, wears good, and is basically indestructible. Great watch considering its like 120 bucks. There's no way I'd be wearing my higher end watches around hot oil and other crazy stuff. G-Shock is just a soild choice. And usually I'm not a fan of digital/ analog hybrid. But the digital on the 2100 is small enough it looks like a normal analog watch.
G-shocks were the watches that got me into Horology. I always assumed the watch industry was purely for snobs 🤷♂ The cult following that G-Shocks has is what made me fall in love with the watch industry. #Godtier
I agree. After watching all your videos I think I’m a Casio g-shock guy. I don’t want to deal with time inaccuracy, maintenance, etc. just a $100-200 watch and throw it away if anything happens to it.
I'm totally on the train for these watches. I finally bought my first one back in March, a GM-2100C with the canvas strap and I love it dearly. Keeps great time, looks really cool and I know that in 20 years it'll still be kicking. I have plans to buy a G-Steel, the B600, because of the smaller size and the bracelet. I cannot wait to see that one in my collection!
Damn. That’s pretty fucking badass. Congratulations to your son on his achievement too!
What an heirloom. Congrats to your family.
Duro is awesome, and thank you for your service.
I suggest you to buy a gravitymaster g shock. Trust me.
Let me save everyone 18+ minutes. G-Shock is a GOD tier starter watch. Nuff said
Thanks 😴
There's no such thing as a starter watch. They are just watches. Buy them because you like them.
Yes. Right after Royal.
Addicted to this weird metal I have the 6900 and 2100.
I have it and it's pretty cool.
They are fun, if not difficult to set!
Very nice to hear man
Did you buy the ga 2100, gms 2100 or gm 2100?

I picked up the 9052 right after boot camp. It survived 4 deployments and an ungodly amount of time in the field. 16 years later and I’ve replaced a battery and a band. Absolute god tier watch brand! I’ve got 4 G-Shocks now but my son will get my original because we all know it will outlast me. Great video
That is so fkn cool, congrats to you and thank you for your service sir
W Dad
Why not try GW-M5610 for yourself and a BGD-5000 for your daughter? Both have solar and multiband6 and come in a lot versions on the japanese market.
Lol brainwashed consumer
@@HLi-eu5er I just might!
A generation comes, a generation goes, yet G-Shocks remain lol
Thanks
I mean, my GA2000 also moves the hands out of the way when you want them to, it's not unique to super high end G-Shocks :)
(when the watch was 9 years old)
A big advantage with G-shocks (or digital watches in general) is that you notice when the battery gets low. (My Festina just stopped wihtout warning. It ran precise until it stopped every 3 years and i hated that)
I bought a G-Shock as replacement in 2007 and still have it (it still runs on it's first "10 years" battery!) But it gets very few wrist time as i switched to a mechanical watch. (a mechanical watch also never stops out of nowhere, and i like the thought that my handmovements are enough to power the watch and it needs no battery)
But the G-shock still gets used as alarm clock each day.
Hey Teddy ever considered a collab with nico Leonard?
Literally just watched a video where nico commented and ask for a collab.
Would love to see a watch shopping video with Teddy and Nico, along the lines of the videos with Kevin O'Leary. Should be interesting.
Would be amazing 😀
Definitely open to it haha I have something planned for the end of the year that I am hoping to have him involved with!
That would be awesome.
I have ten different G-Shocks in my collection, none of which cost me above $150 AUD and they all have their own unique character and design aesthetic. Casio really are horological geniuses👍
I collect too. I have about 20 and none of them are over $200. G-Shock has a special place in my heart.
Thanks!
Did you get your first watch and if so was it this one.....
@@millicentgranger6035 Ended up with a Citizen Promaster. Gshock will likely be the second watch.
What exactly do you mean?
@@OriginalAse he means the negative display
@@OriginalAse it means he's old and has poor eyesight
No. You can't read time in Ga2100 1a full black if it's dim lit. You need to use the light function.
I never seen anyone regret buying a G-Shock
Bro, you can't tell me this was popular with the skateboarding crowd and then flash me a pic of Bieber.
the clip of cab was legit though

I admire Teddy's hustle. He's a smart, cool, hardworking dude.
Why not recommend the new GAB2100 model of Casioak with Bluetooth? Or the new upgraded U models, like the 5000U or the 5610U?
Can never have enough G-Shock content. Thanks Teddy!
I’ve been watching your videos as a guide for collecting for years,MAMACOO looks awesome. Really good looking watch. Love your collection.
I call G-Shocks the “Bro” watch, and for a good reason
🤜🏾💙🤛🏻
When I was in the Army, almost everyone in my units wore G-Shocks.
As I get older I appreciate functionality and comfort more and more. A G seems to find its way onto my wrist more often than not
I've bought couple of GShocks over the years, the one has the most wrist time is my CasiOak GAB2100.
10 year battery is very true! Had my gshock for 11 yrs now
My dady bought one NKUWAN and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
For men with smaller wrist: try a BGD-5000. A mini GW-M5610 with almost identical features.
I concur. Had mine for about 3 years now of hard use and it's great.
no, its dw 5000cc
i bought one in 86 at the px at FLW. it went through basic, ait, dli (luxury), air assault school, arctic warfare school, and 'the army' for 4 years. it followed the dead for a few months after i got out. i replaced the battery and strap once each. it was abused. hell, it loaded trailers and worked on the air ramp at UPS. it died in the mid 90's.
I really hope they do, especially in comparison to the almost impossible to read normal negative display models.
Worn a G Shock GW-9400 for years. I’m a Firefighter/Rescue Technician. Watch has been through hell and back and still performs. So old the matte black finish has been polished to a fine shine due to wear.
3410 (GW-9400) is my current G...love it.
I've owned at least 10 since high school.
You won't regret it. You need that watch you can wear and do everything in. Every watch collection should have at least 1 G-Shock!
Currently wearing my GW-5610U. Ensures it's accuracy every night, easy to read display, good for 200 meters, chronograph and an alarm, my sub $150 G-Shock is much more than a tool watch than any Swiss product.
Video actually starts from 3:21 😅
My wife bought me my first G for Christmas, the G-STEEL GST-S100 Series GSTS100G-1B and I love it.
They should rebrand to GT (GOD TIER) shock!
@@Rov-Nihil how about mrg gshock? kinda overprice
Got my G9000MS mudman 7yrs ago, and it is still my casual watch, havent serviced even once yet.
I really really hope for the time for a AE1200 G shock version(There kinda is, but it's not a true gshock)
Now you seriously making me consider some Tough Solar stuff
Great video! I have Tudor black bay, Bell & Ross from early 2000's and vintage Omega. Purchased Casioak last month and love it a much as my other watches.
Again another great video ! I have owned a G-Shock since 1988, I have never been let down by one, i have never been "snobbed" wearing one, i believe i would laugh out loud if i was :)
I have put my G-Shocks through military way of life ( very hard living ) construction ( almost abusive way of life ) and when members of the watch community assigns the title to Casio as GOD tier, i could not agree more.
I want a CasiOak so bad, but the colors are not good. There needs to be a little more contrast, and availability for smaller wrists.
I sort of modded it to make the hands and indices more legible, especially in the dark. Just went to Michael’s and got a small pot of Glow in the dark poster paint in lime green, easy to open and work on the module. Now with a little flash of UV light, that sucker is readable ALL night. 👍🇨🇦
@@doctorcorgi3134 it shouldnt wear too big though? looks like it should work on a 7 inch wrist.
@Wiseguy724:
Semper Fidelis :-)
Love mamacoo the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the watch. I don't think any other UA-camr can show off watches in as much detail as you.
Love G-Shocks. As much as I admire the craftsmanship of mechanical watches, if I could only own one watch, it'd be my GWM-5610 - square, light, 200 m WR, atomic timekeeping and Tough Solar - what's not to love? Everything you need in a watch for $100, more or less. Excellent video as always, Teddy. Happy Holidays!
Getting one for my birthday this month and I'm super excited
Feels like more tech than you paid for and I love that kind of value.
when you see a g shock
do you automatically think its a cheap watch?
Which one did you get? Can't decide on a colour, solar or not?
@@qaching i knw its a cheap watch but idk feels kinda expensive for built quality and function. thanks gshock
Congrats! That is an excellent watch. GREAT value! Enjoy.
@@dimaz3 Wow, that's a real testimonial! It's my dry season now, but at least I find it easy to read even in low light without its own light. Thanks.

Always beware, Buying G-Shocks is addictive and fun and relatively cheap!
For police/military: GD-350-1B or one of variants. Fantastic watch for this type of career.
Eu sou completamente fã do G-shock. Recomendo demais!
What to know before you buy a metal g-shock - You can buy aftermarket metal cases and bracelets for many models. Transfer in a module from a cheaper resin cased g-shock and bam.
Let's just take a second to appreciate how well written this was (in addition to great delivery and eye candy video, as always). Well done.
that was incredible. what a beautiful watch and what great work you did on it!I love AMZWATCH watch!! Dream watch! Everytime I wear it, makes me feel amazing!
My collection includes Rolex and Omega. I’ve gotten more compliments on my g shocks😂. I have 2 casioaks and a neon green/pink dw5900
Great content yet again, thanks Teddy!! Who knew the origins of a cheap affordable watch would be so interesting!!!!!!!
The GBD-200 is a worthy watch to mention as the replacement to the GBX-100 mentioned in this video.
got a GA-100 for my 21st, ive swam EVERYWHERE with this thing, its just one of those reliable watches that just dont die
G-shocks were the watches that got me into Horology. I always assumed the watch industry was purely for snobs 🤷♂ The cult following that G-Shocks has is what made me fall in love with the watch industry. #Godtier
4:40 200 prototypes in 2 years! Now let that sink in
I agree. After watching all your videos I think I’m a Casio g-shock guy. I don’t want to deal with time inaccuracy, maintenance, etc. just a $100-200 watch and throw it away if anything happens to it.
Missed the Gulfmaster range the quad sensor is the pick Teddy
I'm totally on the train for these watches. I finally bought my first one back in March, a GM-2100C with the canvas strap and I love it dearly. Keeps great time, looks really cool and I know that in 20 years it'll still be kicking. I have plans to buy a G-Steel, the B600, because of the smaller size and the bracelet. I cannot wait to see that one in my collection!
I’m on my 3rd G-Shock. Been my daily watch since 1992. Love them.
