Spending $100 a month on a storage unit to hold Christmas decorations.
There is a certain irony to that...😄
As a person who has collected Christmas decorations from all over the world for 25+ years this is crazy but would be worth it to me if I had to rent storage. I’m 73 so I’m sure I won’t have to worry about it much longer. 😂
I had to do this when I could no longer safely access the attic
Storage units in general. I understand there might be an actual need for those in some cases, but the fact you can see them EVERYWHERE in America and the UK means people use them very mundanely.
I'm spending $160👎
Expensive jeans with holes in them
Right? Although, for me, even cheap jeans with most of the legs ripped out make no sense to me!
@@saraconklinfrozenpennies I remember the fad where boys had their jeans so low that their boxers hung out. I told my son to either pull up his pants or I was gonna pull them down. UGH
@@user-lh1sw4tu1k
That was the LONGEST fad that some are still holding onto. It started to decline when that one thief was running away from the police but tripped over his own pants and got caught. 🤣😂
I make my own ripped jeans 👖 it's a lot of work , but I get paid to do it , (it's called work) lol or something like that.
@@zac1375 I remember that!
Gender reveal parties,, maternity photo shoots, babymooons (special vacay before new baby arrives). Seem soooo frivolous to me.
lol - I agree with you 100% about the gender reveal. News flash - the gender is only exciting to the parents lol You forgot to mention push presents
The old baby parties where they just had a nice cake you'd cut open to find the color and just have that and some nice coffee with friends was a good way to have that kind of party! I'm all for downscaling all of these overly-grand events!
These gender reveals are the most stupid things I’ve ever heard of! Waiting to learn your child’s gender till birth is one of the most wondering surprises ever!!! And yes, I know there are times when people need to have this info but most do not!
And narcissistic.
Fake eyelashes!
Botox injections!
Hats for cats!😾

@@saraconklinfrozenpennies
And "cheek fillers" (front and back!) 🤭
As someone on chemo, spending money on specialty fake eyelashes (the ones where you don't need your own eyelashes to attach them) for special occasions... isn't a flex. Most days I don't bother, but if you have no idea what it's like to have all your eyelashes, eyebrows AND your teeth fall out ....very alien looking. *edited to add Eyelure Naturals is the brand in case someone else needs them

LOL...yep...that too!

It is a hockey trophy - only slightly larger than the drink cup if the memes are to be believed 😅

The dirt thing makes sense to me if you are buying it to grow things. Where I live the native dirt is mostly clay - which is really hard to grow vegetables in. What we are buying is soil and compost - which is more nutritionally suited for plants to survive. That's not weird at all.
😊
Exactly. Same where I am -- sand and clay, which may be nice for pinto beans, corn, and green/red chile, but not so much for anything else.
Here in the high desert if your not buying soil your not growing anything !
@@imtired6104sounds like New Mexico😊

One of the nice things about getting older is that you start not caring much about trends and fads. By a certain point in life you should know who you are, what you like, and what's important to you. Then you start focusing on the important things, not whatever happens to be the latest flash in the pan. Great video.
I was like that even as a teen. Sometimes I really cringe how little I even noticed trends, but this was the 90s! Besides jeans and a couple flannel shirts, you didn't need much. I was a fat, religious girl (now a fat, religious woman ha!) and the trends didn't attract me.
I love artificial scents throughout my house but I'm cutting back. I only buy "on sale" scents. And instead of putting scents in every room and closet, only 1/2.
@@MsSimpleMovies- yeah, be proud of your generation.

I love my candles and room fresheners and I actually bought some $5 triple wick candles from Bath & Body..my first time buying a candle from there..I felt rich 🤑
I like the quote Denzel Washington said, " you don't see a hearse pulling a U-Haul."
My dad RIP was a Depression Baby. He & my mother CHOSE a satellite TV package just so he could watch The Horse Racing Channel. He loved watching it, tracking the trainers, horses, riders, terrain etc. He crunched the stats in his head & would go to the EBT & place $2 bets. He did it as entertainment & treated it like going to a movie. He was a frugal coupon king & would shop at his local supermarket when it had a discount for seniors day of the week. My mom cut his hair & trimmed his beard. This was his special treat. This activity kept his brain agile. That’s priceless for a senior!
That's not the same as a "premium" cable channel. And even if it was on the premium package, he probably could have found the service by itself for a lot lot lot less money.
Not only for seniors…for anyone who enjoys it
@@spankynater4242 When he was alive, my parents only had satellite TV, there was no cable in the rural area they lived. He stayed off anything on the computer bc they all took bets. He wasn’t a big gambler, & loved to sit in his recliner.
Roomba is one of the best things I ever bought! And fyi my 94 year old aunt harassed me for calling garden soil “dirt”. She says dirt is what you sweep up off the floor.😂
I agree with your aunt 100%!
I'm with you on the Roomba. I basically bought the yard version as well. I can spend my time doing something else.
My son is a quadriplegic and I love that he loves it .
Oops the roomba
Me too. We don't usually say dirt in the UK, it is either soil or earth.
My definition of eating out is to cook at home and go out to my front porch and enjoy my meal. It’s cheaper & I don’t have to tip anyone.
Love my Roomba! It’s a basic one but I love it! I’m 70 years old and until recently had a dog who sheds. Roomba gets under beds, sofas and ledges to clear the dust bunnies! I have a traditional vacuum with wand to get higher areas and cornets but my Roomba is a keeper!
absolutley I have a golden and run it daily and it fills up with hair. Im not going vacuum everyday so saves tones of time.
I agree 100%. I have a Eufy Robovac that was a reasonable cost. It runs each night while we sleep and I would replace it today if it died! One of my best purchases ever.
I understand the necessity 6some p8and I don't judge. But for an able bodied young person, it's crazy.
@@seameology As long as our 23 year old is living at home, rent free, she can vacuum every day! Once she moves out, I’m getting one of those vacuums! I’m getting too old for that everyday thing!
Single, no kids, abled body, with my own apartment and full time job here. I love my generic Roomba! I keep my place clean and tidy. I vacuum regularly, but can not seem to keep up with the amount of dust that comes from who knows where. Faux Roomba fills the dust container every time!
Alcohol and cigarettes. Biggest waste of money for nothing!
Yes!!!
And Lotto tickets!
Paying money to make yourself sick and then have to pay medical bills. Crazy. I used to smoke until I got a shadow on my lung. Regrets, I have a few.
Not necessarily so. Daily G&T at the end of the day helps my back, and relaxes me. Never giving it up. Seems like alcohol has become a moral issue.
@ravenmeyer3740 that's what happens with addictions. Takes over and make excuses. Warm bath works.
I think it is smart to pick and choose what makes you feel good without spending more than you can afford.
I think “to each his/her own” except if they are complaining about the price of a necessity…..right after pulling out a cigarette, new iPhone, talking about their cable TV, or freshly done nails. Pay the necessities first.
Hey Mary 🌹❤, how're you feeling today ?
Someone who spends $10,000 for a seat at the Super bowl
YES!!!! Agree...weird 😂
Maybe in the past when it wasnt televised but now....?. Also a roomba maps out the rooms it cleans and your home layout can be accessed, so someone in the roombas co who isnt too honest could use it to ' help' them burgle your home.
Talk about having more dollars than sense...
I lived in Wisconsin for 18 months and we saw how our 4 pound chihuahua would shake and scream when we took her outside the first winter we were there (it was well below zero a majority of the time). We had to dress her up in a tiny jacket and socks before taking her outside to go to the bathroom.
Then we moved back to South Georgia and we had to buy dirt for our raised beds because all we have down here is thick red clay. Nothing grows in that but cotton and peanuts.

100.00 for nails every month sounds absurd to me. Thats 1200 a year! Its the same for these ladies who get their hair dyed every 6 weeks for 200.00. Why on earth would you want to start a habit that you have to upkeep that often for that expensive?
Agree! Too much money!!
Where I live it's closer to $50 per month, but my budget still finds that to be too much.
yes, so many of these things need to be based on your values, what is important to you, and what you enjoy.
I get highlights 4 times a year that blend in with my greys. I could never do as good a job as my stylist. I work in a customer facing office that business dress is required. There is an expectation of keeping a polished look so to speak. I pinch pennies everywhere else, I drink the free coffee there, bring my own home made lunch and everything else I purchase is second hand or clearance/ holiday sales for the shoes/ make up.

I don't think the robot vacuums are weird; we have dishwashers and washing machines so why not another machine to help with another chore? Also I have fibromyalgia so sweeping the floors sounds horrible😅
I agree with most everything! And do most everything you suggest. BUT...I love my Dustin! It's a bobsweep robot vacuum. I got it at Sam's Club for $200! It is absolutely worth it to come home and see the floors clean! I have 3 xsmall dogs and 3 kids. It is an amazing helper!
I've had a Roomba for years and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. Like a washing machine, you can just leave it to do its thing when you're off doing something more productive and/or interesting.
I have a robot vacuum cleaner and it has made my life so much easier , my German Shepard suffers from stress and anxiety ( rescue dog ) she sheds so much hair . I also buy a new car and drive it into the ground , I get it serviced and do the normal things that keep it in good condition , all my cars last nearly 20 odd years before they start to cost to much to fix .
I have Costochondritis. I need one of those robot sweepers. Sweeping and vacuuming kills my ribs!!
Many neurodivergent people and people with mental health conditions struggle with executive disfunction, too - meaning that chores like vacuuming often become huge tasks, and it's just really hard to do them; it can take months to finally get it done. If they can do themselves, life gets so much easier!
As a Canadian, a Stanley Cup is a very specific thing!
😄 As a longtime Hockey fan, this is so true! I think of Stanley brand and picture the giant heavy thermos with the plastic cup as a lid going back several decades, when my adult male relatives were hunting or on night shifts. Giant mugs and insulated cups have been around *forever*. I don't get the hype around that brand even if it's decent quality, so are many others. It's also weird grade school students take those big, honkin' insulted mugs to school now. They're the same size as some of the kids. 😄
Colorado likes it, too.
We have hockey in America also, and even in Canada Stanley cups are available for purchase.
@@spankynater4242 way to ruin the joke.
@@evelynsaungikar3553 It wasn't a joke. A stanley cup is the same thing in America, and Europe, and Japan.
OMG Love this ... High-end makeup and face creams ( this stuff eventually ends up at TJMaxx and Dollar Tree ) I watched a video one time about eyeliner and they are all basically made the exact same way. You can pay from .99 all the way up to $50 for the same product the only dif. is the packaging.
Storage units are weird to me.
I have a friend that has a storage unit to store all her seasonal decorations 😟
We got one when we were between places and staying with my mother in law. Then, when we had our own place again we took our stuff out and didn’t need it anymore.
They are good for temporary use for moving and such as you are cleaning a place out to sell so that you don’t have tons of stuff just lying around.
My brothers and I got together and bought our mom a vacuum robot. She’s in her 70s now and vacuuming under furniture, like the bed or tables, has been really difficult for her because she can’t see very well. My dad thinks it’s a competition and keeps trying to prove that he can vacuum better. 😂
Overpriced Lulu Lemon clothes that just pill up anyway, WHY?
Yeeeesss!!! I do not understand this!! Really for ANY brand. I can't understand why people will pay 40 or more for ONE t shirt either.
I totally agree. I've never even tried Lululemon and never will. I love comfy clothes and very rarely purchase new clothes. The last 2 years I gained weight so I purchased 32.degrees clothes. Super cheap and quality. They constantly have sales and I check coupon sites for a free shipping code. Last month I purchased 3 pairs of leggings and 2 long sleeve shirts all fleece and velour (so comfy) for $21 with free shipping! Highly recommend.
I love 32 degree stuff I have a lot of items from them and you can get really good prices for the items. Costco also sells 32 degree for very reasonable prices@@stacieprice9
Anything automatic, like robot vacuums, the dishwasher, etc. can be very helpful for people who have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, or chronic pain conditions
Agree 100% as someone with fibro and arthritis.
Hey Debi ❤, how're you doing today ?
Or pets, kids, a job…worth it’s weight in gold!
Many of the items and services are things that older Americans just didn't grow up with. I grew up a mile from the Stanley Thermos plant in Nashville. Yet nobody ever obsessed over fancy tumblers to buy. There were no Starbucks or Door Dash, either. So....At 58, it's not very difficult for me to resist the urge to spend.
Starbucks travel mugs! Over $20 at Starbucks, $3.99 at Goodwill.
I use to spend $65.00 a month on dog grooming a very adorable mix breed with long hair. I did this for years and hated the loss of almost $80.00 after tip. So I learned to groom my dog myself. The investment in tools was less than one month of grooming. I watched UA-cam videos and it works out great. I sure miss the hundreds of dollars I wasted. 😂❤😂❤
My husband tried this on our miniature schnauzer and we called her Patches for a month. The groomer was well worth it for our pup’s dignity. 😂
@@mollyhepner1055 And they can do it in half the time.⏱
I am a ‘member’ of a Facebook group for frugal people. One lady was asking for help with her budget ,one line of her budget was $120 to groom her dog. A commenter suggested that she could groom her own dog. I replied that I thought that was a good idea and that it was only hair and the dog wouldn’t mind if it weren’t perfect. Another person was asking about freezing chicken and I suggested using a vacuum sealer to prevent freezer burn. Both of my comments were blocked because I violated the rules ??? I decided to test the waters.I found the most positive post with zero negative comments and posted ‘GOOD JOB’ . My comment was blocked because I broke the rules. I guess I am just a meanie .😂
I am 56 at point of my life i enjoy my own company make my own coffee eat food at home dont cate what people think my bills are paywd
Hey my dear 🌹❤, how're you feeling today ?
yeah, I totally don't get the Stanley cup thing at all
Me neither! I saw that they were selling them on line for HUNDREDS!!!!
I used dirt from my yard to fill a plant pot. Two weeks later it stank, and I discovered it was full of worms that weren’t there before! Buy the store bought soil, please!
Sterile soil for indoor plants yes!
I have someone who married into our family that flies to Disney in Florida usually going 4 times a year! Meanwhile she has a massive college loan debt and still has many years to go on paying her huge house. 3 bathrooms 4 bedrooms for 2 people. Totally unaware of what's going on in the world where most of us are just trying to keep our head above water!
Re: the Roomba thing: Robot vacuums; electronic scrubbing devices; paying someone to assemble or clean things for you; pre-cut veggies; etc - these are not a waste of money or weird to those who are disabled or chronically ill in ways that limit our energy and/or mobility, and can in fact be life changing. I have noooo idea why people are so obsessed with Stanley cups though; I’m sticking with a regular water bottle!
ADHD, as well.
Even for regular able body people that are busy or despise doing something and rather pay someone. Money well spent in my opinion. Epecially when you can afford it.
I know blasphemy to some but I think it's weird for adults to spend THOUSANDS of dollars to go to Disney without kids.
Like you can take that money and go on a really nice vacation that is a bit more adult friendly.
I never got that either. Maybe they were deprived as children🤣
I get the Disneyland thing for children....those who are at a minimum 5, 6, or 7. We went to Astroworld when I was 5 and I have very vague memories of going. Very young children (4 & under) usually don't have the stamina to get your money's worth and won't remember much of it anyway. Just my humble opinion!
I get the cost of individual portion packages for treats. I have no self control, with treats and I know it. Having a single portion once in a while I satisfy my craving and yet aren't likely to eat 2-20 portions because, "it is in the house".
Me too.
As far as buying soil. It depends on if your native soil needs to be ammended. Or if you're making above ground raised beds.
Absolutely LOVE my robot vacuum!! It cleans so much better than anything else. And saves my time, energy, and sanity.
I would like one but am not tech savvy. Do u have to attach it to an App or can u just turn it on and it goes?
@myaccount9498 I don't use the app or the remote. I just let it go. You have to do some troubleshooting sometimes, but it isn't hard to figure out what's wrong. Usually, hairs and threads wrapped around the brushes, it's full, or it needs charging. I have 4 cats so it gets a lot of use. Mine was like $120 on Amazon.
@glendatelgenhoff6514 wow tysm for kindly answering! I'm encouraged to get one now as I have chronic back pain. A regular vacuum has issues like u mentioned so that I can cope with 😂
Thank you for yr kind help 💞
@myaccount9498 You're welcome! Keep in mind that there's the bending over to get it off the charger or to rescue it when it gets caught in a pile of cords, but it's still a lifesaver 😊
Can you post a link to what you bought please? We have 3 cats. Thanks! @@glendatelgenhoff6514
I just bought a small simmering pot. I put all of my used lemons, orange peels, and cinnamon sticks in it .. I love it and I don’t worry about toxins in the air.
If we have apples that start to go bad I cut them up and throw them on the stove in small pot of water with cinnamon sticks and the whole house smells amazing. I keep it on the stove and add more water and use it for a few days until it's time to throw it out.
My daughter is a very busy woman, and she has pets. She has named her roomba, because she considers her a friend / employee.
I love this!!!
I now need to know it's name 😂
She has it backwards if she thinks the cat is the employee - she is the servant! 😸
Make that "unpaid servant" 😼
@@zac1375 You are correct. Lol The cats and dogs are responsibilities. The Roomba helps with that by picking up hair.
I used to get my nails done, but it's just not in the budget anymore. Instead, I spent the equivalent of getting one set of acrylic nails and bought the supplies to do my own. I used UA-cam videos and a practice finger to learn how to manipulate the product, and am now doing my own - I'm not as fast and perfect as the pros, but I'm learning, and I have what I need to do over a year of my own manicures and pedicures. As for the Stanley, I bought a cheap knockoff that does the same job for under $20.
I'm super proud of you for doing your own nails!
The $8 tumbler at PopShelf (owned by Dollar General) does just as good as my Yeti…ice doesn’t melt even overnight. I have tried doing my nails myself but I am not coordinated or patience enough to do it. I applaud those that can do it!
My sister recently got a big nail set for FREE off of Freebie Alerts and wants to learn to do her own nails, instead of paying $100. Good for her!
@@char5477 That's so awesome! If she's looking for good tutorials, Nail Career Education here on UA-cam is really good.
I was so mad at my friends for getting sucked into the Stanley Cup craze. They're on disability/pension benefits. They dropped the cups in the first week and cracked the rims. And that's after they leaked all over their groceries in their wheelie carts. They paid $40 for those cups!! I'm probably just as angry at the influencers that suckered them into thinking this was a good purchase.
I still see Yeti mugs at goodwill for $3.11. The only Stanley product I have is my dad’s old thermos!
A classic! I have my dad's too! I should put it on the shelf ☺️
I prefer the old Stanley thermos
I have my dad's too. My husband now uses it for work.
I also have my dad’s ~ complete with the large dent from when he ran over it with his truck! I use it every winter and brings back good memories. 😊
I just ordered a robotic vacuum because I absolutely hate sweeping/vacuuming (to the point where it doesn't get done as often as it should). I bought on the low-priced side and hope this helps me keep my house cleaner.
My husband bought me a Stanley cup as a gift from Costco (on sale, we are very frugal) and to my surprise I love it. It's heavier than regular cups so doesn't tip easily and keeps drinks exceptionally hot. It also fits in the cup holder in my ancient Dodge Ram truck (1996) while most modern cups do not. I wouldn't have bought it myself, but I'm glad I have it. Another plus: it is so sturdily made that it should last for decades.
I got a large yeti from my kids last year. I love it. Keeps ice drinks the perfect temp all day.
Getting my nails done is how I treat myself. I have been wearing the same clothes for years and I don't spend a lot of money on shoes. Getting my nails done is special to me!
I am a monthly mani-pedi person because my mom and grandma gave me their gene for painful ingrown toenails and my nail tech is cheaper than the surgical alternative. My pedi is as essential as a professional haircut, another genetic issue but at least I have great natural color and no need for a perm or straightening with a good stylist for my pixie cut. My mani is nothing more than a total self indulgence.
Yes!
For myself, I am disabled. An automatic vacuum helps keep my home clean when I can’t. I have very little energy and I don’t need to use it up for vacuuming. I agree on most of these being foolish. As a foster pet mom, I agree that clothes are a waste on pets. Most animals do not like to be clothed. One of the best savings is buying a used car of one or two years of age. You often can get the dealer to add something like tints or moon roof to purchase the vehicle. And many still have partial warranties left on the vehicle.
The thing about Stanley cups:
Stanley cups are just a trend.
The company has been around for over a hundred years, but a group of moms mentioned Stanley cups on their blog of things to purchase (because they are actually very good at insulation) and then it just took off and since some people wanted certain colors of the cup, Stanley starting producing those colors because it was a good business opportunity for Stanley, and then Stanley partnered with Starbucks, who partners with Target.
By doing this Stanley kept Target and Starbucks from going under.
Target and Starbucks were on the brink of going down to the trash because of their politics, but Stanley came in to save them.
A lot of people don't know that though; they just think the Stanley cup is better simply because it's trendy.
Now a days, I believe in, at least somewhat, knowing about the products that you purchase and why and what the company stands for and stands against.
I think the Stanley Company made thermos bottles when they were popular...when kids took a thermos bottle to school or men put a thermos bottle in their lunchbox for work...my father always took a thermos bottle to work with hot coffee in it and as a kid, I had a lunchbox and thermos for school...dating myself...
@@susieq5270- true, but there is also a separate brand name company called: Thermos.
Both companies Stanley and Thermos produce a thermos type cups/tumbler.
There are different variations to those products.
Back in 2012 I had a neighbor who did hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, biking...She had the energy of 15 people and I don't know how, but I wish I had half of her energy. Anyway, She was so into YETI products. She had everything from the coolers to the water bottles. But she used all of it, all of the time, so I wouldn't call it weird, just a lot of money spent on that brand.
She was amazing. It's like she somehow had more hours in the day than everyone else.
I hope she's doing well wherever she may be. She was a great neighbor.
I asked my husband for a roomba for Christmas and I love it. I still have to touch up with a broom and dustpan in some of the tight corners, but with two dogs and icky mud season, it does save a lot of work and helps me multi task. I can be making beds or cleaning my bathroom while dishwasher, washer, dryer and roomba are working
I agree about the concert tickets though, any time I have gone to a concert I haven't had much fun, mostly because there always seem to be a bunch of people who are basically there to get drunk and act stupid or be sober and just scream their foolish heads off
The thing also is, with me, is that I love changing the words on songs that fit my life better. So if I go to a concert I have to listen to the real words and would not like that.
Since I have a couple of hairy pets that wander around the house, a remote vacuum seems like an attractive item to me!
Roomba: we have a different brand. While it runs, we are typically cleaning a different room. Helps to get thing done faster.
Dirt: my backyard "dirt" is clay and sand. If I want to grow anything, I've got to do a large amount of composting and I generally mix it with soil sold at the big box home improvement stores.
"Smartwater" (vapor-infused) - almost $2 per liter
Yeah, I stick to the "dumb water" that comes out of the tap.😅
If my house burned down, my robo vacuum would be in top 10 first things I purchase. My floors are SO clean. There’s no way I could sweep/vacuum 3-4 times per week manually. We don’t wear shoes in house and are both super clean…so I’m amazed how much dust and dirt it finds. I have 3 for different levels of house. 😁
I got the Stanley as a gift but everything is subjective. We love our floor robots, two long haired cats means lots of cat hair if we don’t run it often. Depends on the size of house and how much your time is worth to you.
I have severe arthritis. Roomba ensures my floors are clean without laying me up in pain for 3-days.
I get my nails done every 3 weeks - for MEDICAL reasons - my nails break right down the middle - it hurts. So to protect them I have a very strong gel put on. No shame in not enjoying pain. My car is old and runs well - works for me.
I do acrylics for the same reason.
I totally understand, nothing l do, eat, take helps.
Disney is now beyond insane expensive. You might as well take a five day trip to Switzerland. It practically comes out to $50 per person per ride and the rides are only 90 seconds long.
I'm 75 and have NEVER in my life gone to a salon and had my nails done 😱 I have always done them myself or as a teenager my friends would paint my nails 😂 I hate those Dragon claws some girls get 😱
I have fibromyalgia and pets so I LOVE my Roomba
If I can ever afford an apartment or home again I'm definitely getting one. Vacuuming in a wheelchair sucks.
@@Shantelle6253
Vacuuming sucks [pun intended] even without a wheelchair. [But that must be extra difficult for you.]
@@zac1375 I just bought a new hand held pet specific Dison??? It's super effective! I had a Thisworks. It didn't 🤣🤣🤣
@shantellebuethe6253
I have yet to find a vacuum cleaner that adequately picks up cat fur.
I work in cabinet shop making upscale kitchens that often have 2 islands, 5 foot wide fridges, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks and then 100 sq. ft. pantries next to them. Not kidding.
Bought a New Car and have been driving it for 23 years, can't say that about most used cars
You are absolutely right!
I had my 2002 Jeep for over 20 years, only 66K miles and in good condition.
I kept it for 2+ years as a second vehicle. I still miss it!
I was lucky enough in 2010 to buy a car that was only 3 months old, it had been purchased brand new by a father for his daughter, but 3 months after she decided she wanted the convertible version 😅, saved me thousands .
I haven't bought a new car since my first car. I have been able to buy mid level cars that are 3-4 years old and drive them for well over 10 years each. Last car I paid cash for, it was 6 years old with 34k in mileage, and I love it.
I’m still driving my 2004 Subaru with +408,000 mi
Anything branded, regular hair/nail/salon visits, new/fancy cars, concert tickets and restaurant dinners are some things I don't get. But I have some spending habits that I am sure other people don't get either 😂.
I think often, paying for coffee or smoothie is not always about the coffee or juice but about the access to a third space. Aside from a library, there aren’t too many indoor third spaces anymore and paying for a coffee often means access to a space that isn’t work or home.
2:17 Totally agree about the "if you have the money" caveat for actually ALL of these. The problem is that that quoted bit means something very different to the vast majority of people compared to you, me and your other fans. To me, "having the money" means there is extra cash lying around AFTER I have already maxed out retirement accts, savings, paid all my bills, accounted for upcoming repairs like the car, a new water heater, tires, and taken care of normal household expenses. Unfortunately, to many, "having the money" simply means their life savings acct contains $10,000 and the vacation they want costs $10k.
I absolutely agree 100%!
I have been an extremely frugal person my whole life, but I have to disagree with many of these things. I don't have a Roomba, but my daughter loves hers. I love scented candles and refill those room freshener containers with my own oil and fragrance. When in Hawaii I bought those fruit smoothies and curled up by the pool or beach and enjoyed them over a good book. I don't eat in restaurants or eat fast food so there would be no door dash. I love to travel and if I was a millionaire I probably would take one of those vacations. When my son got married in the Bahamas he treated everyone to a wine and cheese private sunset cruise aboard a sailing yacht. I could definitely handle that kind of luxury if I had the money. Also when in the Bahamas my son treated all the women to a day at the spa while the men went fishing. We got pedicures, facials, and a massage by the beach. That was wonderful and we enjoyed every minute. We sometimes purchased used cars but got some lemons. Then we purchased new cars. These cars last us 20 years or more. The one I drive now is a 2017 Honda CRV. I bought it with an 8 year 100,000 mile full warranty and a 20 year 200,000 mile warranty on the engine and drive train. Right now it has over a year to go on the full warranty with 53,000 miles on it. I just checked our local current price on the car and it would cost about $20,000 with tax. My cost to drive it has been less than $2000 per year, not counting gas. I have been a gardener my entire life and do compost. The soil where I live is horrible clay that without constant yearly addition of peat, manure, and compost it won't grow much. Plants also need to be fertilized if you want a good crop. Every couple of years I purchase a ton or two of mushroom/horse manure compost to work into the soil.
When my niece went to Hawaii a few years ago, she sent me some photos of her then-young teenagers sipping those $12 drinks with the cute little umbrellas. 🙀
@@zac1375 Actually mine were non alcoholic and only $8. I guess I got a bargain. Sometimes we need to treat ourselves.
It sounds like you are doing just fine and I also have been bitten by the travel bug. I can't get enough of new places!
@@saraconklinfrozenpennies My husband was Dave Ramsey before Ramsey was born. He insisted that we pay ourselves first and live on the rest. Until the kids came along it was 20-25% of our income. We married when still in college that we paid for ourselves (no borrowing) because we worked. I had a fellowship of $250 per month that we lived on. We saved my husbands $150 per month GI Bill. With that saved money we traveled for 8 weeks in Europe after he graduated. It was on the cheap by train, bicycles and sleeping on the trains or in youth hostels.
@saraconklinfrozenpennies, the topic of travel/excursion savings would be an awesome and well received video for those that follow you. Just a thought.
The automatic vacuum cleaner is expensive compared to a normal one but it is a Time Saver and for people such as myself who have medical issues RSI arthritis gout it can be a excellent investment
I have to say that for those of us who absolutely depend on these innovations....we absolutely need the able bodied gadgety, techy, flexy people to make things a fad. It actually drives down our costs!
For example, my Gluten Free pasta used to be about $16 a pound!!!! Now that its become a fad even Barilla makes it and i can buy it for less than $3 a pound!
Nice! Next thing ya know, Stanley cups might be less than $10!
I'm going to have to say I probably still wouldn't buy them. I think my rheumatoid arthritis would hate the weight of that giant ridiculous cup.
I got a Roomba for my partner (who wasn’t the best at remembering to vacuum) and he loves it. He consistently “vacuums” now because it’s fun for him to mess with a toy. Best $200 I ever spent! 😂
I have no self control when it comes to chips, snack, and ice cream. Due to health reasons, I needed to cut back on these items considerably. So when I have a craving that lasts for more than a day, I will run down to my local convenient store and buy an individual serving to satisfy that particular craving. Believe it or not, this has made a positive direction in my health. Side note: If I'm willing to go out in extreme cold or heat for a snack, then the craving is real. I do not do this more than once a week.
I get you!!! Yup, those smaller portions treats while expensive are a once and done thing maybe for a month or more.
I do that with Cheetos -- portion control at its finest!
I like this!
I agree. It may be worth it to pay the individual serving price to get a smaller serving and limit the calories.
Same!
I agree with everything except the Roomba. I love my Roomba. I had chronic back pain for years form multiple back injuries. Traditional vacuuming always made it worse. I got a Roomba 4 years ago and rarely have pain anymore. For me the Roomba is definitely worth the money.
Hey Allison 🌹❤, how are you doing today ?
Designer clothes especially for children. paper towels (not very green) use microfibre, disinfect by dampening and 'cooking' in the microwave, already cut up vegetables/ fruit.
A little sweater for a chihuahua is a necessity if you live somewhere with cold weather! Chihuahuas have very short hair and not a lot of it. My little guy would shiver in 50F, never mind the winter 🥶! imo it’s cruel not to put a T-shirt or sweater on him.🥺
I absolutely understand this! Thanks for checking in.
Agreed. We have a small terrier, and winters here can have windchill factor of -70. Coats, sweaters, boots, and a scarf tied around the ears are a must. The pet clothes that are ridiculous are the costumes. My stepmother used to buy Halloween outfits for her Labrador retrievers. There's nothing more idiotic than seeing an overweight Lab dressed as a bumblebee.
@@annemumford9459 😂
When getting a pet, you should get one appropriate for the climate.
Well, summers here can reach over 100 F. What kind of pet would you suggest? A pet rock? 🙄🤪@spankynater4242
Kind of a blast from the past, but the Stanley mug craze reminds me of people paying outrageous prices for Longaberger baskets. Just because other people have them. So wasteful
Roomba -- I bought a refurbished Shark for $120 and an extended warranty for $20 to cover it for three years. I had one years ago and liked it but eventually gave it away for various reasons. When I saw this and the extended warranty was pretty cheap I thought it was worth a try. No I wouldn't spend $400+ but $140 is not a huge amount.
I have to say I love it. Yes I could vacuum myself and the reality is that sometimes you have to anyway but every single day it spends a couple of hours picking up all the pet hair and fuzz and fluff and dust off my floors without me having to even think about it. I've not had an allergy sneezing session since the week after I bought it! Not for everybody. Not for people who are in debt or broke. But I'm at the stage of life where if something will make my life easier or more pleasant I'm up for it. And this just does.
😂I bought a cheap automatic vacuum. After cleaning my bathroom as best I could, I set it loose. It took about four vacuums of about 10 min each & emptying the cup before it stopped picking up dirt from the floor I love it.
I'm 86 and have MS. My Roomba is a life saver.
Dog coat and boots for winter make sense, but not dog Halloween costumes!
I get my nails done once a year, before summer. A really good pedicure before sandal season to remove ugly dry skin is valuable to me.
I don't think a lot of these are weird in themselves but I guess if you always do it then yes. I can see a special concert, big sporting event or a lavish vacation once in a while (for me once in a lifetime 😂). I think most of this is what you can afford, it is definitely weird to go crazy on credit cards to do these things for sure. Thanks for posting!
Robotic vacuum, YES-runs daily!
I love my robot vacuum cleaner.
I bought a new car one time, but the car I have now is 31 years old and still going great!
Burning beeswax candles is a wonderful alternative to fake scent candles. The warm glow from them is so calming!
Thank you for sharing ✌️💞🤟
I will NEVER regret seeing Taylor swift in concert! Lifetime memory!
I love my Roomba!
They really are cool
with a cat with long hair they save a lot of heavy duty vacuuming.

I thought buying dirt was really weird-until I moved to coastal Florida, where there’s nothing but sand in the yard. If you want house plants, you pretty much have to buy some dirt.
I used to work at a school that had free coffee for teachers. Some staff members would still arrive at work with gigantic fancy coffees from Dunkin' Donuts. Often these were the same folks who complained that they were not paid enough.
I used to get a kick out of the girls at the office who said, "I have to have my morning coffee, or I just can't cope." All I could think was no you need a giant cup of sugar, chocolate, whipped cream, and a touch of coffee because it's your status drink. I just chugged the free black coffee from the office coffee pot.
I'm retired and my car is now 19 years old and it runs great and gets superb mileage. I think it will be good for at least another ten years and I'll probably not be around, or at least not be driving by then. It costs me about $100 a month to maintain and run it, nothing to own it. Biggest expense is insurance.
Those that have spend to no end, those that don't have save to get ahead wherever they can. Priorities, priorities. 😊
Roomba - dog hair. That's why I have it.
Got an iRobot sweeper/ mopper at an estate sale for $75. I use it every week!
I love love my rumba!! Worth every penny!! 🤗🦋🤗
I don't have cable I stream
I was anti roomba until i got one. Live in FL with tile floors. PS, Florida is very sandy. Money well spent! When this one breaks, getting another. No more sandy feet.
Small dogs are sometimes more sensitive to cool temperatures… plus they look so adorable dressed up 🐶☺️🎵

Thanks so much! My mom found it at a thrift store ☺
Hey Denise 🌹❤, how are you doing today ?
I ad seen similar at Ebay, Amazon, Etsy.
Going to concerts is a big deal for me, but luckily the bands I like aren't usually expensive to see.
Me as well .
I used to install cable TV twenty years ago. The poorer the person, the more packages they get. Rich people only have one TV in their house with a basic package they state is for news.
The same ones that got to have the 75 inch TV set.
As someone who doesn’t drive, an occasional Door Dash treat is worth it. Cheaper than using Uber
