Quite a collection of tools you have there. Explanations clarify the various uses and techniques enough to interest me to begin. I mill my own trees on our property and form up cabinets, shelfs, table tops, etc. So I thought I might give this a go.

Nice tool collection. Never have enough. I have duplicates doing normal work around the house and cars. They get dusty ,also, but when I need a tool it is there some where. Been watching you carve and have attempted the art. Different tools, different abilities and find out how to improve. Jump around when good kick it when bad then try again.

I've been carving almost everyday for a couple of months. I started with a generic firewood saw recently scored a echo CS 352 for a hundred bucks and the results from difference in the tip of the bar is huge! I live in the sticks and oftentimes deliveries can't find me so they get sent back and now it's been twice since my carving bar has not made it. It seems to take a month or more to get a refund so that money is tied up the whole time. I start considering making my own and just gave up in my search for information or tips from anyone else who has attempted it when I found this video and your mention of making your own bar. I was thinking of cutting down a generic bar that I have and making a jig to use a cutoff wheel on a grinder to cut the groove and then maybe case hardening the tip. Any insight you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated! Also wanted to just say thank you for sharing, I know I wouldn't have been getting the results I've been getting without yourself and others who share their knowledge on UA-cam. I watch this video before but only made it through first half because I was too impatient to go carve some fur and every time I do I still see your saw moving on the plywood in my mind's eye. Thanks

They wear out fast if you make your own... but its part if learning... issue is kaminated bars dont make good stock fir carving bars need solid... i often ask the post iffice to jold items if im not sure they will be able to deliver.. i watch the tracking and go pick up the day its supposed to be there...

At a chainsaw shop, dont but from big box stores, only buy from a service oriented dealer in your area. Also pay them to give you some instruction on how to use one, and take any chain saw safety courses you can find to take, before attempting carving with one. Go to a place that sells chain saws in person, and ask them to help you, in person training is really the best way to learn...
