    My theory is, that when it happens that a crow is living with humans together, they can develop their true intelligence (similiar to us humans, which in a good environment develop culture, starting writing and reading books and so on). Part of this is that the pet crows always invent "tasks" which are then very important to do. Our Hugo, when he lived with us liked to unroll a bog roll, but then folded the paper to a pile. Or he liked to sort my screw anchors which he first disordered (first he watched for a while very interested that i did the same for my tool box). Thank you for this wounderful movies!

    • @chv72
      @chv72  7 років тому +8

      They really are amazingly intelligent birds! Peach really likes it when we throw little things for him to catch. We use wine bottle corks as they are light and easy on his neck. He could just endlessly catch them and then drop right in our hand, so we'd throw them again! Thanks for watching our videos!

      We never leave Peach alone with any strings as we are worried they could wrap around his neck. For that reason we never hang any toys in his cage, so he has to come out and play as we keep the door open when we are around. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I've been feeding 5 old crows for 20 years. I assume it's the same ones because they are here every day, and there's always 5. They are terrified of me, and I have never let anyone scare them. They watch me fill their feeder, and watch for me to leave them venison, fish and scraps, but if I am anywhere in sight they won't come in.

    Can you share the things you recommend feeding a crow? Also what things to avoid feeding them?

    • @chv72
      @chv72  7 років тому +2

      Crows could be fed soaked cat and dog kibble, oat flakes, corn, cooked rice and wild rice, cooked cauliflower, hard boiled egg yolks, soaked unsalted nuts, whole grain bread, any unprocessed meat (vet advised us to cook it but raw beef should be fine, too). These are the things we feed Peach. We also buy him freezer dried meal worms and crickets, but these should be given only a little at a time and other food before and after since too much of these could clog their system. They love those things and could easily eat too many at one sitting! We were told avocadoes should not be given to crows and, of course, no salty or sweet things. Otherwise, they are eating pretty much anything in the wild! If you wonder about something specific, if it is good for crows, feel free to ask as we might know from personal experience with feeding our Peach! :-) Thanks for watching our videos! PS: Do you have a crow or you want to feed wild crows?

      It is normal for a pup to have an occasional accident in the house up until the age of 6 months and even beyond. Just try to make a good guess about when your pup really needs to go out and then let her out immediately! That way they learn to always do their business outside. :-)

  • @xSTARR999
    @xSTARR999 8 років тому +1

    Beautiful bird and wonderful video. However I hope you don't leave Peaches unattended with all that thread. It would be too easy for her to get her little feet entangled in it, and then she might accidentally get hurt. Not trying to rain on your parade. It was just a concern I had while watching her. Everything is fine as long as you are around to observe the action, Love.

    • @chv72
      @chv72  8 років тому +1

      Thank you for watching and for your concern! We are very careful with Peach and scared to even let him play with very small objects thinking he (or she? :-) might swallow them accidentally. Vet told us though that they puke out anything that doesn't go down and we have seen that happening (extra fiber from food, pieces of wood, etc), so we've been more relaxed about that. We never leave him unattended with any strings as these could get wrapped around his neck.

    • @xSTARR999
      @xSTARR999 8 років тому +2

      Yes, Dear, that too...the string around the neck. I was trying not to be too graphic, but with our animals, care and observation are everything. I can tell you really love your little bird. We do too, Sweetie! Enjoy every day you have with her. She is a real heartbreaker! We all want one of our own now.

    • @chv72
      @chv72  7 років тому +2

      Thanks for watching our videos! We ordered that play pen online when Kassie was a young pup and needed to be restricted. She is used to sleeping there as she considers it her own bedroom. She goes there herself when it's bedtime. We never allowed her to sleep with us as this habit is hard to break later. We make exceptions only when we are travelling with her :-)

    • @chv72

      When Kassie was little, her kennel was right next to Peach'es cage. Now their sleeping places are further away from each other but when they are both free to roam the house, they stay together. I'm sure Peach would sleep right by the dog's side but we always put Peach into his cage for night. It takes some convincing first but he actually flies there himself when it's bedtime!
