Keep up the great work and great video content. We do the jobs that nobody wants to do that’s why it’s so rewarding. You always will have my support my Eastcoast and HVAC brotha!!!!

Great work Jumper Man. It's gotten rediculous with the technology, you have to be a HVAC tech and a electronics expert just to deal with it.

Blue donut in wiring, CT is current transformer. Some manufacturers will say CT sensor failure because no current is sensed - because inverter board bad, overloads tripped, or motor is shot. CT failure is a red herring.
Some systems are smart enough to have a known current range, so for example 6 - 9 amps, will give you a CT failure if you fall outside that range.

It surprise me that the electronic boards are not protected better in such a harsh environment.
The equipment I worked on for many years was mostly inside buildings, but still most of them had taken care of moisture and dust lucky me.
You aways make a good work and choice the best way to meet many different tasks😬😊
So satisfying to see the results when troubleshooting in a clever way.

Just think of all that money you would be missing out on if this was just contactor, compressor, fan. LOL

Current sensor should be the donut on the power cable? Blue one?
Connect your meter to measure points, then power up if you are worried about safety if possible.
If you are replacing that many boards you should ask lg to figure out a warranty solution. Insulation for heat, or something to redirect water away from sensitive electronics.

Lg continues to make money?)) In case of requaring dangerous electrical measurements I prefer use some probe kits with different types of probes like crocodiles, hooks, needles etc. Fluke have very good. They easily makes your hands free. Strongly recommend. Safety first! Best regards.

Hi! Thank you for your quality videos! Watching here from Sweden. It is really interesting how different HVAC- things and standards are on the other side of Atlantic Ocean. Here it is quite common with Heat recovery ventilation, and in summer Cool recovery ventilation. One thing I stumbled upon as an electrician, is your not so encapsulated electric motors and belt driven roof exhaust fans. Also the single wiring cables to different components in the HVAC units seems strange for an not American! :) Wish you all the best, and keep up with your great channel!

My Brother that place needs to throw in the white towel on this equipment and give serious consideration to what is there next step! That was a bad piping installation and even a worse start up commissioning that has led to all those failures! This can’t continue to go on. Time money repairs down time no heat no cooling these people need serous help

@Jumper In this case I doubt the inverter was at fault. That chip on the lower board is a inverter driver for the fan motor. That chip is almost self contained and usually can measure current itself. There is probably an additional sensor for the main board to check if the driver is reporting the right values. I've changed such a chip recently on a super energy efficient clothes dryer (

    Hey JMT,
    Nice work and enduring patience.
Is this the same place where one condenser fan was working causing the other to dead spin?
Like the fan was turning but there was no power from the motor?

I’m no HVAC tech, but as you say the board are very expensive, and the fact that you not check the CT/amp draw and check the motor before condemning 2 boards, is surprising me 😅

    1. Why change the fan board?
    2. Absurd amount of thermal paste.
    3. What did you do to prevent that same kind of water damage to the boards in the future?

Maybe that’s why there boards keep burning up. Maybe they should use a real thermal heat compound.😂 Hell idk maybe it works great and it’s something else. I service a building with multi-vs but they are older than the ones you were working on and I haven’t had any issues with board besides a couple of inverter boards crapping out because of the compressor or vise versa.
