Great content. You´re working your way down the line. We use a lot of Mitsubishi VRV´s here in Holland and they hold up a lot better than LG´s. My company won´t even install LG anymore.

LG breaks constantly but their troubleshooting procedures are very easy to understand and follow.

Wow, they need to let you be in charge of those units with a monthly salary so they don't have to worry about it.

If you unhook 3 more connectors off of the outer panel boards you can fold that down and rest it on a milk crate or bucket. It makes the inverter and fan boards a lot more accessible if you are working by yourself. All the screws in these things are JIS not normal Phillips. Vessel makes nice JIS bits and screwdrivers you can get off of amazon. The LGMV wifi module PLGMVW100 is a must have for troubleshooting these things. You can order it off of the web if your local LG distributor wont sell it to you without taking the class.

Good job Jumper, Those easy out extractors for small screws, don't always work, It's better to drill the hole first, Then, use the handle for the extractor by hand, because the drill will strip it out real easy, need to do it manually, And that bug is stealing and hoffing refrigerant, haha just kidding.

I work for a school district. We have had nothing but problems with LG Multi V Systems. Several of them have been replaced with Mitsubishi City-Multi, and they are much more reliable.

lol I work for a school district too. We’ve had issues with daikin and lg. Mitsubishi has just had comm errors. I’m stuck on this LG. We replaced inverter boards and filters. And replaced a messed up reversing valve. And still no good.

I get around (Toronto, Canada) on a home made electric skateboard. The electronics of the board are inches from the road and the 4 Canadian seasons. My electronics have survived the elements in part because I buy/keep/use conformal coatings to protect my PCBs. I'm not a HVAC guy and I don't know how it would impact warranty or survive in the field in those types of electronic devices. My current skateboard has 3000+ miles on it. Before conformal coatings they only lasted 100's of miles. I like to use MG Chemicals, it is on the pricey side, but it is made here in Canada and has been a good product for the decades that it has been on the market. MG Chemicals & Conformal coatings are well known. Get something like a 1-part acrylic conformal coating in an aerosol can that you can keep with your kit. Mask off any areas you do not want to apply it to (copper heatsyncs & connectors) then spray/apply the conformal coating. Between conformal coatings & dielectric grease you can weather proof PCBs fairly well.
That white stuff look like the conformal coating peeling off.

An indispensable phone app! Makes troubleshooting just a little easier. I recommend go easy on the heatsink compound. You don't need much for a low thermal resistance interface.

I had a similar issue with water in a control panel. I know it’s kinda hack but I sealed the seam with “ Flex-seal” waterproof tape🤷‍♂️ it worked well so far since last winter

22:02 definitely looks like water damage, I’m actually surprised that it hasn’t failed sooner. I’ve seen laptops, desktops, etc. that failed with significantly less water damage!

22:16 looks like imperfections in the sealing of/making of the PCB. ***Shouldn’t*** cause any problems but if it gets wet regularly again it may fail much sooner.

I’m the biggest advocate of this technology and all vrv units. But in the 15 plus years I have been working on all of the brands of vrv vrf systems. It just seems that the reliability of the components including boards motors etc is not very good. And we are installing these units to replace gas oil abs electric heating. Just wish a manufacture would just make a product with better quality parts and parts such as board that are made better. Just always seems to be something broken in short order. Just saying

Water gets in through the heat sinks in the back. I’d reseal them with sikaflex.

Your water intrusion is from the fan ipm heatsink that hangs outside the metal cabinet , the sealant applied around its perimeter is failing and needs to be resealed , remove electrical cabinet to check. And stop putting thermal paste on like a bukkake party

What is the name of the company who installs these LG multi V’s. My son and I have been selling and installing these units for nine years now never had a compressor go out never had a electronic expansion valve. Get plugged or go out..
We do have extremely high end electrical surge protection on the electrical panel
And to circuit boards in nine years of installations, both came from buildings when the transformer blew up supplying power to the building so far have been the only to Fan board that we had to replace.
Like all units it’s not always the equipment. It’s the individuals who install them and service them that caused the failures. .

  • @Miketime969
    @Miketime969 Рік тому

Seems like everything you touch blows the fuk up shortly after, maybe that insane amount of thermal paste you put on that ipm shorted out its legs, you only need a skim coat as it squeezes nearly FLAT, you are learning my friend. Up your game . Dont meg out a 3 phase fan blower on these either , they have ic’s in the bodys and cant become trash after
