Since the arrival of the first 2WD short course truck, there has been a desire for 4WD versions. With 4WD you can generally go faster, hook up more power and can be easier to drive, but getting a 4WD short course truck that handles well, is fast and durable can be a challenge. The folks at Losi have stepped up to the plate with a new variation on their TEN-T platform called the TEN-SCTE. The rolling chassis combines elements of the TEN-T and 810 buggies with a new extended chassis, short course specific front and rear bumpers, and a new motor mount to make what has potential to be one of the best 4WD trucks out there. We were anxious to get some track time with this 4-wheeled wonder and the time has finally come. It's time to strap in and hold on because this is sure to be a wild ride.
The TEN-SCTE was absolutely worth the wait and I am excited to get even more running time with it. I ran about a dozen batteries through the truck on my test day and it came out relatively unscathed. I didn't install the fan on the Novak Havoc Pro SC ESC initially and the ESC went into a thermal protection mode during the first run, but I brought the truck into the pits, installed the fan, and never had another problem all day long. Consider that lesson learned. The other minor issue I ran into had to do with the motor mount screws vibrating lose on the last run of the day. I'll admit, I didn't check the screws as I ran so it's my own fault, but it was a bummer none-the-less. When I replaced the screws, I used a bit of Losi-Lok thread locking compound and haven't had an issue since.
The TEN-SCTE is an awesome 4WD short course platform and I was very impressed with it. A lot of the credit goes to the Novak Ballistic motor and Havoc Pro SC ESC, but the chassis itself is absolutely capable of running well on any track anywhere. It's well-designed and put together to take even my abuse! The stock Eclipse SCT tires hooked up better than I thought they would; I dare say I could race with these tires in more loamy conditions. The 8IGHT lineage was prevalent all-day-long and I was often reminded of my experience running my 8IGHT-E with the TEN-SCTE. If you're searching for a competition-level 4WD short course truck, your search just ended. I can see this truck winning a lot more races all around the world, leaving you with an important decision: race one...or chase one.

OH god im drooling over this truck with this set up
We don't have any plans to review the RTR at this time. It's the identical chassis, suspension, etc. The main differences are the included electronics, motor, ESC, transmitter and receiver.
@TheDeerhuntingboy101 It is a 2S max. The 4WD SCTs are designed around a 2S power system and are plenty fast that way.
@BodMan2879 Yes, the TEN-SCTE, TEN-T and 810 use the same suspension arms.
Exactly. I actually run a 6.5T at our indoor track but the 4.5T works great outdoors here.
The Novak system comes with a 16T pinion which is what I ran for the most part. I did end up dropping a tooth and going to a 15T just to get a little better punch.
Yes it will! I'm using a Pulse ESC in my truck now but that same motor.
LOSB9877 is the Xcelorin LiPo I used.
Hey guys. Been a Team Losi fan and driver since 89. I gotta say this thing really let me down. All my Losi gear has been top notch since my JRX-T, but this truck has me worried. Not even 3 hrs on the thing and I've rebuilt the diffs three times. Ive never seen front end play this bad in any of my cars. No big wrecks. No bashing. Just track use. Bought three center rear d-shafts, all bent. 2 real bad! What really blows is this truck is glued to the track when sorted! Maybe it's just me.....
I didn't have a temp gun with me but it never got overly hot. Run times over 10-minutes are pretty common.
@ATKchevymotorsports Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it and it makes the hard work worth it
I have never run any of the Viper systems so I cannot make a recommendation one-way or the other on those. For Tekin it would be something like the 4000kV TEKTT2501 with an RX8 (TEKTT2300)
I just rebuild my SCTE with the Nitro motor from my 810. SCTE with nitro is great fun :-)
The higher the capacity the higher the run times but 30-minutes will be a bit of a stretch. These 4WD Short Course Trucks draw a ton of current, draining your packs down faster. You may want to consider the new TEN-SCT Nitro version of this truck, that way you can make pit stops and keep running all right on the fly.
There's a number of choices depending on the size of your track. Dynamite now has a Fuze 540 4WD SCT Sensorless Brushless System with a 3900Kv motor (DYN4950C) that would work well. There are also options from Team Orion such as the 4.5T (ORI28241) that would work with the R10 Pro (ORI65102). Finally the Novak system I used here would be good, along with their new Pulse system w/4.5T Motor (NOV3170)
I don't have any experience with the Castle system so I can't speak on that. I will say that I have done extremely well with the Novak system in my truck, having won the last 2-trophy races in 4WD SCT at RJD Hobbies and Raceway with it.
@shadow122788 I used a DX3R PRO. This will be available for the foreseeable future.
@RacerEckss When did you purchase your truck? Some of the early trucks had issues with the diff pins, but that's been taken care of for months.
More rear toe would increase grip, changing the antisquat will change how the truck travels though the bumps.
@HorizonRCdotCom I got it in august. My LHS is pretty busy so Im almost certain it wasnt from the first batch. Alot of guys at the track are using grease but I don't like the way it handles. The diff pieces I used were fresh from Losi so Im sure those are the new ones. Dont get me wrong though, this is an awesome truck! I drove the competition and it was my favorite by far and still is. Im just kinda bummed. LOL!
@HorizonRCdotCom
Your videos are some of the best out there. Keep em comin.
@bagofbones11 Something like that you'll need to send in for service. That is not a user-replaceable item.
Great driving there Gary, and top video mate even though i'm not into the driving side of things when it comes to RC (as you know) but i still like to know how things are going,so keep up the good work ;-) thumbs up.
@AlexanderOddersen1 Within the next two weeks or so
thanks more track vids plzzz
What I'm asking is .5 up more squat and .5 out for more traction
try out the new track in valprazo indiana, King Hobbies and Raceway
did anyone else notice the 2wd buggy in the corner of the track before the hump section?
hello horizon hobby when will the savage flux 2350 review be online?
@HorizonRCdotCom Ok thanks for the info.
@kalishaROX 1.0 Module
Thanks...and last questions what pinion you running
thanks any tekin in the house??? or viper creations????
Depends where you run. 4.5 would be way too much for most indoor clay track. It would work better on an 8th scale track outdoors.
Could someone tell me if my scte is supposed to be able to hold both front/rear wheels and spin the others that will make the motor turn over. thanks
Can you help me? I have a DX3S radio and the Antenna knuckle broke. Is there a place where i can buy a replacement? I don't have the Reciept anymore. Thanks.
Woul u choose the nov3115 or a castle creation sct race pro, both are same price.
Would this be a good basher truck. And if so what motor, esc and battery you recommend for at least 30min.runs
How hot temperature after you runs this screen with novak 4.5t...how long for run run times with set up...thanks
Nobody is on the drivers stand at 4:06?
how would I add traction to rear with adjustable hinge pin set
could you tell me a coupel of motor/motor combos to get for this sct plzzz?!.thanks!!
What motor would you recommend fot this truck? Would you still run the novak 4.5t?
dude 2s on 4.5 is still not enough power to win, gobs of power is a serious overstatement...i'm really having trouble figuring out what im gonna use as far as batt/motor combo to get the speed i need this season.
i have the viper vx4r.45 and it seams to have power and speed but i think it needs more so i ordered the tektt2501 and i will update this when i get it in to let you guys know how much it helps or hurts
Hi, Is there any posibility of doing a review of HBX Hellhound 1/10 SCT? I've been driving it lots of time at our local hobby track (brushed version) so far its been a great sct for the price and as well as handles well with the top speed of 25mph out of the box with stock 7.2 Nimh battery pack. As far as my observations its lot more competitive with competition level 2wd SCTs like Team Associated SC10, Losi and Slash 2wd (Slash, which is only for bashers grade).
It'll be really appreciated if ya'all could manage to do a review even with a used vehicle.. Thanks and Rgds!
hay i guys i have a ofna nexx 10 sc but i dont know if i can put a 450 size moter or a 550
hi can u run a 3s lipo with this motor in the ten-scte
As you where talking about lipos going at 30c what if its a 5200mah lipo? thats 156 amps to draw, maybe they don't use that high of capacity lipo on the track? would those tire be bad for onroad? (fast balding)
You won't completely discharge a 5200mAh pack in a 5 or 6-minute run. The main thing is to make sure you have a quality LiPo which can withstand the amp draw without being damaged.
whats the pitch on the pinion and spur
What lipo where you using.
Will the nov3115 work good on this car
this is waterproof ?
The hardware is not waterproof but, since it is a roller (or the TEN-SCTE 2.0 is a kit) you could install waterproof electronics if you would like.
22Sct is almost better to me
