That crowd was procrastinating on laughing
Maybe because they are trying to focus and learn someting and they understand this is not a stand up comedy routine.
wow she is giving a ted talk to zombies..
No it is because all have seen a way better talk on the same subject by Tim Urban
I have to agree. She was excellent at presenting despite lack of reaction from the audience
Who else is procastinating watching this video.. :/
think about how good it'll feel when you can watch this again in the future after having finished all your work and scoff at your past self
who am i kidding i need to listen to my own advice
guys, stop sharing your procrastination-provoking anxiety onto others.
good talk, tough crowd..
verticostate could be interpreted as a tough crowd or maybe they were just taking it all in. Then again does it matter? What did YOU get from it?
Inspite of getting no reaction or response from the audience she continued with the same energy and smile. Mad respect for her. Bravo to you girl.
I wonder how many of us are procrastinating by watching incredibly important and lifechanging TED videos...
Archana: “Say it with me...”
audience: *silent*
I feel so bad for her.
There's no camera angle on cooperating, so we know already what happened.
Very vibrant speaker- she's def going places

"Don't Procrastinate"
I study procrastination. I am super impressed by this talk, not just on the topic of procrastination (which is excellent) but the style of her talk. Lot of substance packed in. Heads and shoulders above most TedTalks by “professional” speakers. She is brilliant!
Can you share with me your knowledge about procrastination ? Im a procrastinator for many years. I got depression too. Im seeking foe an answer
I think the crowd is so quiet because they're speechless, she's better than most speakers twice her age
I procrastinate because I have too much to do, so I do nothing and just watch some ted talks on youtube
Start small ,with the most easy and pleasent task then progress and follow up...make priorization task
George, I feel you. The burden seems too horrifying that even the thought of getting it done with bit by bit is scary.
She's an amazing speaker ✨ and deserves more humourous and alive audience
She believes in herself and what she is saying ... That's what made her to continue with same charisma from start till end ...🎉🎉🎉
when you're watching a video about how to stop procastination but you are in a deadline so you were just procastinating by watching this video
Anky Angga, yes i am, my exam is after 5 days and i studied only 20% of my syllabus
Archana, you're one of the best speakers I've heard, you look sincere. It was a good choice to keep going in spite of the audience
Excellent video! 3 things that have helped me:
1. Read the book "The War of Art' by Steven Pressfield. This books also references the quote from the Bhagwad Gita.
2. Write down Long-term, short-term and daily goals
3. Use the 'Pomodoro' technique. Break down large tasks into intervals of 25 minutes.
In my experience, procrastination often occurs because of feeling overwhelmed by a big task. By breaking down a big task into smaller tasks, it makes it easier to take action.
Wow, I clicked on this thinking it wasn't gonna help much (ie, to procrastinate). To my surprise, I've never heard of this stuff before. And I'm always looking for ways to rewire myself. I've written down the 5m method and will tape it up by my desk :) Thank you so much!!
she is so bright and spoke so well also in front of a dead audience is so remarkable
That was a rough room! Excellent job young lady! I’m impressed with your public speaking ability.
Crowd so stingy with them positive reactions. Give some feedback you bunch of mutes.
A very enthusiastic public speaker. Keep up the good work!
Not half as enthusiastic as her audience, I mean they are just soooooooooo excited right?
maybe the crowds unengaged silence stems from their jealousy.. because she's great!
It's the first time I hear of chronic procrastination being associated with fear of commitment. This may actually be helpful. I have both, but I never thought they could be related.
Did she accidentally give a TED talk at a funeral/vigil?
“One must do action without any expectation of the fruit of the action.”
One must do work without expecting the reward or a fear of consequences
The work should be done with no emotion in any external factors
Sounds like she’s giving the sound test the day before and the audience hasn’t arrived yet
Thank you so much. I am a 68 yr old who is totally impressed by your ted talk. Loved your 3 mmm. Your method is motivating and folks are never too old to learn. Again thank you🙏
Great wisdom. Shows to tell how wisdom and growth does not come from time but from experience and the will to learn
Awesome orator and tackled the subject really well. The crowd could have given encouragement, she really deserved it.
OMFG, I was writing notes on this video after I watched it and I started procrastinating on facebook... I have a real problem...
no you don't because you just aknowledged it and let it pass ;) thise are steps to her method ;) if all you can do is catch yourself, do it. We all have to start from somehwere. baby steps. ;)
Wow! To have figured out this much about overcoming procrastination while still in high school is incredible. Wonderful job and thank you so much for sharing your story and tips! As a woman in her mid-30's who is a struggling "situation procrastinator," this was very helpful!
What an awesome speaker. Clear and lucid points. You should be a presenter. Best wishes.
Is she talking to a wall?
No. Lack of appreciation when the value is obvious is always because they/ the other people are different. For example a group of average or below people facing an above average person.
Or maybe they are procrastinating in laughing and appreciating. : )
Now in this case, I don't know if that's really the case of the reactions (or apparent lack of). We only know what got edited into the video. Maybe they were laughing but we could not hear it in the video, etc.
@@artyshmunzuk5435 then why no camera angle on them clapping or showing some appreciation of it?
@@artyshmunzuk5435 You can tell by their expressions that they are not amused or laughing.
U are such an excellent speaker! Iam amazed at how silent the audience was.
1. Clear goal.
2. Only positive thought.
3. Self-reflection.
4. Gratitude.
5. Journaling
what an amazing talk - skillfully and engaging held too
what s wrong with the crowd though? braindead?
Dead crowd - very alive talk - well done Archana Murthy - I got some really good tips on action to be more positive in my actions so thank you
This is a really great talk. It's basically the answer to life. Thank you Archana Murthy!
This is amazing! Thoughtful and practical advice and so well-delivered. Looking forward to implementing the Mmmmm method and have a feeling it's going to be very helpful. Can't wait to hear more solutions from Archana in the future, surely there will be many more!
what beautiful command of language!
Thank you Archana for the good talk. I was motivated by your 5 M's. I acknowledge the fact that each person should question the reason behind procrastination.
what an amazing and engaging speaker! even though the audience lacked any emotion, she still stood confident and delivered her speech in a wonderful way. as an aspiring young public speaker, i take much inspiration from her :) bravo!
the audience is pissing me off LAUGH, REACT !
soolio we do this during math class. Cause nothing penetrates through my head.
Thank You so much for the video..You were radiating so much positivity during the entire talk. ❤
This deserves way more views. It really is great advice.
I loved it
it was so true!!!
And you know one thing that got me was that it was like I knew this all along,I knew that those times which I didn't procrastinate was because I didn't think of the result and I didn't do it just to get to the result !!
It is such an inspiring video, thank you .
She did a fantastic job delivering this speech and I learned a lot from her.
Archana, you should write a book! What a thoughtful, insightful, generous person you are. Thank you!
Honestly you are a really good and natural speaker, great work and advice I will try it and stick it to my vision board too!
Thank you!! Murthy, you are an excellent speaker🙏 Being a chronic procrastinator I have gone and am going through the dread of deadlines. I just can't get myself to work.
Archana this was absolutely wonderful! You articulate yourself so well . Great job !
I understand why the crowd was quiet... Her image (she doesn't look "dominant" enough for A-type personalities), her commercial-like delivery, and it took her 7+ minutes to get to the good stuff.
It's an AWESOME VIDEO, so thank god it was taped for those who appreciate it.
she slayed at her high school: #4 in her class and off to Texas A&M . very articulate and I agree with your comment
Nice bullshitting bro. A or B type personalities don't exist (it's just high or low conscientiousness), and it doesn't make sense to talk about A/B personalities if you aren't going to talk about coronary heart disease.
She did a great job developing and delivering this speech. One of the more helpful and informative ones on UA-cam.
It was much better than I expected, I thought it would be like hundreds of such videos, but I got something which I haven't heard anywhere. The idea of doing your work without expecting result or consequences is something that will put off the stress related to procrastination. May be it will help me much better than the number of books I have read on procrastination
procrastination is the killer of dreams good video though
Thank you...., I've decided to watch this daily until what you tried to convey through your words register in my mind and action....this is my second time today...this is really helpful...and insightful
This is awesome - 'if I avoid work it will bring stress and anxiety' nailed it.
This is truly relatable to me... I make plans, but I always shift them for future, then when I realize what I hv done I am stressed n cry
This is an excellent talk. Congratulations, Archana! You speak very well and your ideas are original, wise, insightful, and intelligent. Just ignore the negative comments on here. Haters will be haters. They cannot stand excellence in other people, especially from a woman of color. You have a very bright future ahead of you. Keep aiming high.
this is actually the best procrastination talk i've ever watched. Not only that but I feel like I can actually implement & try which is kinda rare to me.
I didnt hope this kind of speech from high school student. She was above my expectations. She is very wise and focus on good point about procrastination: emotions. She is right, if we can manage our emotions well we can be successfull in every area of life. Politicians and scientists discover this point. Social media effect our norosystem and handle us via our emotions thats why we are addicted. Good speech..
Excellent talk, I feel much more motivated to get off my batty today after this. And gosh! Isn't she easy on the eyes?
such a great talk ! it gave me hope to cure my procrastination tysm 🤍
Excellent TedTalk, thanks for sharing. We love all tips to fight against Procrastination!
My god. What she says about the byproducts of procrastination at 13:20... I think I might just have found the cause of my stress, anxiety, depression and diminished self esteem. Mind-blowing.
This is amazing! Will definitely come back here when I'm in a slump.
Very bright teenager! Fantastic talk! I am more than twice her age and I found this invaluable!
What an amazing speaker. We'll be hearing from her!
excellet talk. The young girl has realized such a precious knowledge early. Great point.very good speaker!
Excellent talk. Super helpful. You have no idea how bad my procrastination became. Even the thought of work makes me feel stressed and afraid. It's so unrational, especially for me being a very rational and confident person. But it's indeed a very subconscious process that I find hard to break. I will try your methods immediately. thank you so much. I'll update this thread with my progression.
An extremely good talk. I have not seen this way before. Its an idea worth exploring!
Thank you so much for worth sharing. I found the way to deal with my procrastination.
I rally appreciate for your sharing.
1. Set a goal
2. Be positive
3. Acknowledge and reflect on my feelings
4. Feel grateful
5. Record what happens
she’s such a great speaker!!!!
One of the best ted talks I ever seen, and likely the most touching to me as I am a master procrastinator.
Great Speech.....thanks so much for sharing your experience and the mmmmm method. Very inspiring to see you devise solutions to your problems and them working out well in practice.
Oh, girl! You’ve made my day! God bless you!
Thank you! What a wonderful contribution!
Worth watching and the line when she says to older people it might not be issue but to us it is is really true
Not just for teenagers! Great ideas and delivery!!
She right and amazing. So inspiring
Yes I just started reading the Bhagavad Gita this morning and now I'm watching this Ted talk ❣️❣️
Archana should take psychology as he major as she is bound to be a great psychologist! Speaks very well too!
Great 🥰.. the way she states the cause of and formulated the 5M method to overcome procrastination is👏🏻.. Am glad that YT suggested this video, much in need😌
I loved her speech. Engaging and helpful. Felt like a short therapy session with tips to try out. I try out her method
Job well done! She ate this and may have helped better my life. I can't wait to see her in the future because she's gonna be a beast.
I enjoyed this presentation and I hope that I will overcome this procrastination behavior
I love it. Thank you and congratulations to such great speaker.
She is so cute... I can't take my eyes off her....and her advise has made me realise what mistake I have been doing...I am lovin her..
She is superb...such an insight about not procrastinating things....Bhagavath Gita is the treasure for solutions....and you are so great being in America you are following Hindu traditions and respecting ours culture.
Don't focus on the results.
Instead, focus on the work, and the work itself has to be enough
One must do action without any expectation of the fruit of the action.
I. Concrete goal
No distractions, no internet
II. Only positivity, push off negativity
III. Self reflection every day: Acknowledge feeling of satisfaction or anxiety inside me
IV. Feel grateful for being able to persue your goal
V. Reflection journal
Oh people! Wake up and give the youth some hope when their trying! The child is giving a very well prepared speech and all you can do is contemplate breathing.
Exceptionally insightful for such a young person. Thank you for sharing!
she definitely deserved a better audience man
I think she deserves a better audience.
Oh my god, does she ever?
You cant just appreciate things...that's it..
You right, shes so active, i love her. But the audience likes a zombie
I think it's the noise cancellation that's blocks the sorrounding noise.
Perfect
