I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
I am having a really hard time putting down a jig when I go fishing. So the more jig tip videos the better in my book. Thank you Matt!
I have the opposite problem here in south Florida. It’s all completely muck and slime bottom. Only caught one on a jig the entire year last year
sounds good!
I've done well lately on an orange bitsy flip with a black swimming chunk trailer. I flip it right along grass lines and shade lines. It's also a great bait for skipping under structure and flooded brush.
sounds good!
They are all good trailers. Thanks for sharing. I use the Zoom trailers. All the various sizes and styles. Also, two old ones: Hales craw worms and the Guido Bug.
thanks for sharing!
Thanks Matt, I think of all of my Favorite baits, jig fishing is the best.
awesome
Used to put Guido Bugs on the back of jigs. Awesome.
nice
OLD SCHOOL,.. Uncle Josh's #11 PORK,..Thoughts Matt
The original powerbait
i have lots of uncle josh!
Picasso lures from Japan has reintroduced pork trailers. Just recently shown on Tackle Warehouse show.
🍺Thanks Matt. Good description on your jig trailer types and why👍.
thanks!
Flawless. Thanks for sharing. It is confusing on which trailer to use in each situation
thsnks for watching
Ive had great luck pairing 1/4 and 1/2 once jig with either Keitech or Strikeking 4" rage swimmer. Also Baby brushog and Pit boss Havoc & Rage craw have been solid performers.
thanks for sharing
I do agree! The jig and worm work well around milfoil that seems to foul up everything. But I still like my boss on the rocks.
sounds good!
First I appreciate .I like jig fishing real good Done real good on that rage bug. Struggle putting those do nothing chunks but those ribbon style chunks work .Like a definition of when and how and where and other variables for those that I struggle with. That stick would
thanks for watching
The pitboss in both sizes are both awesome on anything, jig bladed jig doesn't matter also i like the crawl style with the blades on the legs like rage style and last but not least a curly tail twin tail grub
thanks for sharing
I totally agree with your assessment of the trailers, what you have told us about is pretty much the ones I like to use, not always good with them but its one of my favorite baits.
nice!
I have gotten away from using pork trailers, but I still carry a jar of Uncle Josh split tail eels in black. I have caught many good size bass on them when nothing else worked. Great when you want a faster fall. Tried plastic stick baits in different colors but never caught much of anything on them. To me, it looks just like a big leech in the water.
i like pork as well
Great video!!! Great explanation on how & when to use each trailer to get the best out of it. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
thanks
Totally agree! The only one I’d add is the Dolive beaver.
OSP
Nice
Matt, You Really Seem to Have Your Ducks In A Row ,My Friend , on these Trailers for Jigs !!! Have you done any videos on trailer specifics for Swimjigs and/or Chatterbaits along these lines ?? Thanks , Matt !! Your Videos are Fantastic!! Very Helpful to me !! I Really Appreciate You and Your Knowledge of Bass Fishing !!👍🎣🐟🐟🐋🐋
i have done a few and will do more in the future
Good video, some times I use a lizard as a trailer for something different
sounds good
Matt Great selection thanks for sharing 🎣
you bet!
Sick hoodie!!!
thanks!
Ive never considered using a senko on a jig however I have used a lizard once when I was out of the craws I was using ending up catching one on it too
give t a try!
My main 2 are double tail fat Albert grub and a SK menace
good baits!
@@MattStefanFishing thanks for the reply!! , I catch a ton of fish on jigs every year one of my main confidence baits . And the 2 I mentioned seem to do amazingly well here in Louisiana!
I see you definitely like your Berkley trailers
i like berkley soft plastics
90% of time, My biggest fish of the day is on jig. Somehow that’s really how it is. Thanks for the tip
i lov jig fishing!
In warm water the Yamamoto double tail grub does really well for me!
Just making sure I saw right, so you are telling me in warm clear water the chunk is your favorite trailer? I’ve only ever thrown it in cold water
it works great in clear water
@@MattStefanFishing I’m gonna have to try that
Really interesting. I've been using the MaxScent Creature Hawg a lot because I had some success with it last fall and winter, but haven't had a ton of success this spring/summer. I'm guessing that's because I've forgotten that I need a trailer with more action as the water warms up.
its a great bait dont give up on it!
Thanks
you bet!
It seems to me that the old "match the hatch" advice should be good for trailers. Something that mimics the current bait/prey available to the fish sounds logical to me. So if they're eating crawfish, use a craw trailer. Eating shad? Use a trailer that looks like a shad. That's how I approach saltwater lure selection. Is it not a good rule for bass?
works as well
Good stuff
thanks!
I like to put a swim bait on my pitching jig and throw it into lay down trees and into holes in grass. In my mind it looks like a little bait fish swimming by.
sounds good!
I went fishing yesterday and I got a picture tooken on my phone up some Bass close to shoreline and they are spawning under beds and I saw a big one croods can you make a video about why they 3 bass or close to the shoreline grande ronde bed
ill try
i know your a berkley guy but im tight on money only thing i have that looks similar toa pit boss is strike king rage bug is that similar enough?
Yep
hey Matt! I may have missed this in someone else’s comments, but what are your thoughts on trim tail grub in warmer water? Obviously, that has the most thin action of all. Thanks!
i like them!
Do you ever use a swimbait on your jigs. I’ve had pretty good results using them.
works well
😀😀😀😀😀czesc Matt .pozdrawia krzysiek (chris) nice you see.
thanks for watching!
There isn’t a jig that I’ve thrown that I haven’t lost. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have no clue what I’m doing with a jig. 😂
bummer
Matt, I love the channel and watch every video that comes out. But I hate the recent change in how videos are displayed under the channel that UA-cam forced on everybody, so that the "FOR YOU" selections are default instead of the most recent. It's a change that NOBODY needed, and probably hurts the creator as well. It's the same thing that stupid facebook does by pushing stuff you already have seen fifty times before instead of the new content the user actually signed up for, making us jump through more hoops to get the most recent stuff to show, if we're lucky. Please, all creators and users band together and express to UA-cam powers to please roll back that stupid change. It's incredibly annoying. UA-cam already pushes junk at me on the main page. They don't need to keep messing with every channel and scrambling up their video selections, too. Sorry for the ran, but man, that pisses me off.
yeah im not in favor of it either
Do you use the 4" pit boss on these or still the 3"? I don't think you specified
i use both!
Paddle tail swim bait, twin tail grubs, chunks, flappy craws and beavers are all in my tool box.
I feel like flipping with paddle tails and swimming with craws are both under rated.
sounds good!
Big bites baits kamakazi craw
thanks for sharing!
Sad to see the personal lake break downs go.
it was a fish the moment decision
@@MattStefanFishing I’ve had you and Randy do one for me. It was much appreciated. Thanks
👍👍👍👍👍
