Felt very sorry for the Judge on this case, apparently he’d buried his own son two weeks prior, following an illness, it must have been so hard having Alec in front of him every day, knowing HE TOOK his sons life. Very professional, and I really admired him not standing down from taking this case . God bless him and his family. 🙏💐
Judges sons death was sudden heart attack at 40 years old. He was an attorney also. His eyes teared up when he said to AM "you must have loved your son very much" ❤️
Mark Tinsley is what got me HOOKED on the Murdaugh murders . His testimony was riveting ! No matter how hard the defense tried to corner him it was never going to happen . Respect him immensely
The boat crash that took that poor girls life was what finally took him down. Had that not happened he’d still be manipulating and stealing from unfortunate people that trusted him.
The video on Paul's own phone sealed the deal / convicted his father for brutally murdering him and his mother. If this isn't sweet revenge in typical Murdaugh style, I don't know what is. Smart*ss Alex assumed if he blew his sons brains out, and gunned down his wife, he'd never get caught. For someone with a bad reputation as his, he isn't too bright.
Yes. Not that I wish Alec would have gotten off, I have to say why in the hell, did he not take Maggie's and Paul's phones, and destroy them both, with a hammer, and then dispose of the pieces. This has baffled me.
@@elizabethjowell8405 Yes, I've always wondered about that myself. Not that I'd wished he would have gotten off, but I was surprised he didn't just destroy both phones, like with a hammer, and then disposed of them somewhere in the ditch or the swamp or whatever. He obviously didn't, and that was the break that got the conviction for Alan Wilson, Creighton Waters, John Meadors, and all the rest of the state's prosecution team. That one video on Paul's phone was the straw that broke the camel's back for Alex Murdaugh.
Mr Tinsley was one of the most stand out witnesses of that trial 🙌🏻 he was going to take on Alex despite his power in that community to get justice for the Beech family. A good man.
@@coderider3022 am afraid I agree with you. Those kids have all stated Paul was too impaired to drive the boat - so none of them should've been on that boat - clearly. Doesn't stop Paul's liability though
I disagree- Paul and the Cook boy where taking turns at the wheel. They all knew Paul very well , they knew he had a drinking problem, and the fact he had a personality disorder. A dangerous one! Plus ALL the kids were drinking, that says a lot about their families. And they are accountable for getting in that boat!
The other boy was taking the wheel from time to time. At least when Paul was not capable. The other kids in the boat said that. But that does not make him responsible. I just wish he had taken over the wheel. I believe one of the bigger boys could have shut his mouth and sit him down. Unfortunately neither did. Rest in piece Mallory ♥️
Maggie was already living on her own at the Edisto Beach House 95% of the time, plus she had consulted with a divorce lawyer. It's no surprise that Alec had her on the hit list for many months before the murders.
No, he was addicted to opiates for years. There is far too much evidence showing it. Maggie and Paul texts, Blanca knew, his brother knew, and most importantly; the rehab and detox clinics released his blood work which proved it. Even Creighton Waters confirmed it in court.
Mark Tinsley seems like a rock solid lawyer and grounded individual. My favorite commment was when he described Murdaugh at one point as a "well oiled stealing machine".

I watched Mark Tinsley’s testimony. He made it crystal clear that Alex’s financial crimes were directly related to the murders of Maggie and Paul. I was so impressed with Mark’s tenacity and that he would not be intimidated or shaken off his testimony.
Moselle was owned solely by Maggie. Her wedding ring was under the seat in the car and she wasn't living with Alex at the time. She knew he was lying about the finances and she was heading toward divorce. She didn't want to go to Moselle when Alex asked her to come. His premise was that they were going to go and visit his dad, yet he didn't take Maggie with him to his parents house. Maggie and Paul were about to become his biggest financial liability and Alex only cared about Alex. Without Moselle Alex's line of credit with the bank would dissolve as well.
@@stacychandler9296 There's also zero evidence that she "wasn't living with him," either. Her own sister testified that Maggie always preferred the beach over the "great outdoors" type of lifestyle, but that she took part in those activities because she wanted to spend time with her family. There was also testimony to the fact that Maggie always had Bubba with her whenever she went to spend the night at the beach house. Since she didn't take Bubba with her that day, it's pretty hard to believe that she had intended to stay there over night, and that Alex "lured" her back to Moselle.

I am actually not surprised. When he talked about their murders during questioning he only ever seemed remorseful/upset about Paul. Maggie always seemed like an afterthought. Like “Oh yeah, her too.”
I never believed he was addicted, either nor that he consumed massive numbers of pills daily. My sister was an addict and his behavior doesn't jive with real addiction.

He even talked at length abt gambling winnings. The lack of use of their names is a psychological trick to distance himself from what most would call the unthinkable
Mark, you were a work of art on the stand!!!! I could listen to you talk about the case all day!!! Your dedication to your clients shines through!!! I have been around attorneys all of my life and worked in the Public Defenders Office in the 7th Judicial Circuit and I know of some attorneys who do their jobs because they want t o make sure that everyone's rights are protected. And there are a few who do it because it pays the bills. But every once in a while, you come across someone like you. The compassion, the hunger to see the right things done in the end, and the satisfaction of helping people who aren't able to help themselves can't be hidden!!!! SC is extremely blessed to have you fighting for the right thing!!!!!
I’d seen him talk before and he was very good….on the stand I thought he was very prickly, overtly so. He let the lawyers get to him. He did drop his attitude towards the end though
I think it was a point to have Maggie and Paul there that night. They had become a liability to Alex because of the boat case and Maggie divorcing him. IMO
I think he was worried his wife would divorce him at some point and take him to the cleaners. Also Paul's law suit was going to put a strain on finances as well. They were barriers to be disposed of.
Someone needs to conduct a case study on Alex. It’s fantastical his way of thinking, the entitlement, greed, and murderous impulses. I believe we could learn so much from this case, not only to gain an understanding of why he thought the way he did, but to maybe find ways to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future. This case was bananas!
No matter how much effort we place upon getting to the root of fantastical thinking and the other traits of killers, serial and others, it won't make a difference because, unfortunately, we only get to these minds AFTER a dastardly deed!!! No chance before.
It's kinda complicated but not. The dude got away with everything got whatever he wanted grew up rich. There is the entitled attitude, he prob thought its not stealing if I pay it back before they try to get it out. He had a stay at home wife and 2 kids and properties he had to keep up with so he just poured out too much milk than his glass could hold. And at the point when he had all the pressure on himself and what was going on with paul and rumorably his wife. He convinced himself he would be saving Paul from jail and his health. And maggie he couldn't face his wife leaving and she would be better off watching over paul. The prosecution said it best it was all about Alex.. They can be disposable he's the one he cares about. But that also doesn't mean he didn't love his family he prob did. That's prob why paul was to the head it was spos to be fast and painless.and I think him saying they did him so bad. Was him admitting it was spos to be fast and painless and over. And maggie being executed was to put her out of her misery. Both to me looking at how they were shot was cowardly he couldn't look them in the eyes.
You’ll gain nothing. He didn’t kill them. You can study the flight of worms but you won’t learn anything because worms don’t fly. Your interest is in all the fabrications and dramatizations created by an ecosystem of true crime hype.
@@snickers882 I agree, Paul was likely supposed to be fast and painless and over, but he messed up the shot and the second shot had a ghastly result. I'm not entirely sure he loved Maggie all that deeply, they were married a long time and she was apparently suspicious of him.
I loved Mr. Tinsley's testimony, particularly the bit about not going into the defense team's imaginary world. That might've been my favorite bit of testimony in the whole thing.
Alex was so sure the law would believe his account of the murders because he WAS the law in Hampton County. I believe he never thought they would go so far as to indict him. He was always protected by his name and his father and wasn't accustomed to suffering any consequences.
100%. He was literally above the law. They have been scratching one another’s backs for going on 100 YEARS. The roots that grow over that period are SO DEEP and FAR REACHING that he had no reason to believe he couldn’t get away with it. There is SO MUCH corruption in this case. With all of the financial things, I believe MANY MORE will likely get dragged down with him. His addiction problem is BS. There is no way, unless he was taking Fentanyl, that he was doing opioids in excess like he said. It’s been IMPOSSIBLE to get your hands on pills in that amount since 2013. Trump further decimated opioids under his presidency.
So if Alex addiction was so bad there would've been many other clinical signs. For instance, withdrawal signs, verbal outbursts, tremors, sleep issues, other substance abuse, inconsistencies in professional performance just to name a few. I really believe that his supposed drug problem was an act.
The one truth was him coming clean about drug use. I have had it in my family and it was years before they quit. You talk to doctors , lawyers , Judges and everyday people. Vivitrol has been on the market for at least 10 years or more. Probably what Trump wanted to stop opioid use and his admin had this made a shot once a month. It’s sad that doctors are scared to give it but Washington rights the scrip.
Replay crew. Judge Newman was right, Mark Tinsley is a “tiger”. He’s uncovered all of AM’s financial crimes and didn’t back down. Thank you so much Chris for bringing us such a great guest. 💙
She was going to be a victim or a witness and he could not tolerate the later. Plus he'd probably heard she was consulting a divorce attorney, which would have led to a rigorous financial examination - one of three crashing down on him.
I mean kinda, sadly her death was the final straw on the camels back and everything came tumbling down after that sure the kid never even walked into a jail his mug shot was taken outside the courthouse if it were anything else the merdoughs would’ve swept it under the rug like everything else
A retired RN here. A lot of factors come into play, not just the AMOUNT. How many milligrams (strength) for one. If he was taking 60 - 20 mg oxy's, he surely cculd act normal especially if his body is used to taking that many over 20 years.
@@Balletcalvero yes they are and no way he could function as an attorney or even drive……Just a blatant lie from him….cant believe prosecution didnt question this more…..
@@Trish-fv7ck 1) he couldnt afford taking that many every day to get that tolerance and 2) couldnt find that many to take everyday without drawing MAJOR law enforcement….
My opinion of which I'm sure doesn't but I will state it anyway. Alex felt he had no choice but to get rid of Maggie. He knew she had seen an attorney about divorcing him. A divorce would mean a deeper dive into his indiscretions. I think Alex involvement into other unsavory finicial matters would come out if she divorced him. Maggie was not wearing her wedding ring the night she was murdered. Balonca found it under the driver's seat while cleaning Maggie's car after SLED released it. I feel Alex's evils are much deeper than anyone could anticipate.
I really enjoyed hearing him testify during the 404 hearing outside of the jury. And I enjoyed the sparing with Barber, I think they both did a good job and I enjoyed Barber's cross (he didn't come across as obnoxious whereas both Poot and Griffin drive me nuts. (However so did Creighton). I greatly enjoyed Tinsley sitting Barber down in his cross in front of they jury with the "I can't hear you" x 3 game. Like wow. I don't think I'd be gutsy enough to do that in real life.
he's too big of a coward to commit suicide or have someone shoot him!...I believe it was a ploy to keep law officials thinking that it was a revenge killing for the boat crash on maggie and paul, and the vigilante was trying to kill him next!
He killed Maggie because he knew she was going to leave him. That's why the passionate overkill that he performed on her.... Paul was just extra baggage.
That is something I fail to understand. How could this man have been trusted this far? I do believe Murdaugh thought he was untouchable because of his name. Killing your wife, and especially your son, just seems so unbelievable, but again we know it happens.
Even Maggie has done shady stuff. The way she talk about the maid, that's worked for them and practically raised the son. She is obviously annoyed that she is dying on their steps. Who else recognized that??
She seemed very suspect, to me - of having her own hands in AM's nefarious dealings. Her friends' acquaintances spoke of her egotistic materialism. Her greed and complicity in AH's dealings sadly came at a price. I think she became a liability when she finally wanted out and Paul not cow-towing to Daddy's whims and aligning with Maggie sealed his death sentence. So very sad. I'm grateful the monster is behind bars.
@@mary-annkucher4221 - where is all this info about Maggie coming out? I watched some of the trial later on but didn’t pY much attention in the beginning. I’d love to know more about her.. where’s all this about her coming from?
I don't believe for a second that Alex murdered Maggie and Paul to protect her/them from litigation or legal repercussions or anything else for that matter. He's a sociopath. They do what they do to protect themselves, their own interests, or egos. He thought it would mean less trouble for himself. And I do think Maggie, and probably Paul, knew way more about Alex's nefarious activities than anyone could guess. I think Alex knew they had more damaging information. And I think killing them was purely self-serving.
AM is a lying, manipulative, self-serving sociopath Just MY opinion. I saw no genuine remorse. It was all an ACT. He's exactly where he belongs - behind bars!
I’m sure they did since she had hired a forensic accountant to go through their finances after check’s wrote to various charities had bounced. That was how she found out there was financial issues going on, she was contacted by these charities instead of Alex.
Not the first time a parent has taken their own flesh and blood, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the last. It’s beyond me. I’d die for my kids, do anything for them to not be harmed….then there are people like Alex!
In amongst all of the flimflam that is the Murdaugh family way, listening to Mark Tinsley on the stand delivering a succinct , direct explanation of very well orchestrated Murdaugh lies. I'm so glad that dear Mallory's family has this clever man on their side.

Thank you Mr. Tinsley. You have restored my faith in the Justice System. ❤🙏🌹
Maggie went to see a divorce lawyer, so maybe in a small town someone told him.
Mark Tinsley notices EVERYTHING which is honestly pretty rare for most men. That hypervigilance is what makes Mark so effective. He’s just brilliant!
The judge was admirable. What a decent man.
I hope Mark Tinsley health stays good. He's a wonderful man and a lawyer I would want
I think Alex was a drug dealer not a user.
I think he was BOTH
That’s exactly what I think too
Thank you Mark Tinsley for standing up for principle!
It's called EVIL...There is nothing new under the sun
Mark Tinsley is one of the few lawyers who is not and was not impressed or intimidated by the Murdough name.
Yesss! Exactly 💯
I never believed the drug stories either….great interview with Mark! 👍
I loved Mr. Tinsley's testimony, particularly the bit about not going into the defense team's imaginary world. That might've been my favorite bit of testimony in the whole thing.
She was doing to divorce him, and the financials would have revealed his thefts and frauds. He thought he would get away with it
He had gotten away with his decit for so long that he would continue with his deceit.
I'm sure he thought they would just sweep it under the rug like everything else.
I agree, he thought he had this
So if Alex addiction was so bad there would've been many other clinical signs. For instance, withdrawal signs, verbal outbursts, tremors, sleep issues, other substance abuse, inconsistencies in professional performance just to name a few. I really believe that his supposed drug problem was an act.
Did you not listen to the whole trial? The man was shi**ing his pants when withdrawing..
@@rbzy11.11 ….or so he said…..
@@kfry9176 actually, his brother said..
@@rbzy11.11 you believe him ??
Replay crew. Judge Newman was right, Mark Tinsley is a “tiger”. He’s uncovered all of AM’s financial crimes and didn’t back down. Thank you so much Chris for bringing us such a great guest. 💙
She was going to be a victim or a witness and he could not tolerate the later. Plus he'd probably heard she was consulting a divorce attorney, which would have led to a rigorous financial examination - one of three crashing down on him.
21:30
I have always felt that the addiction story was BS. That he was trying to use that also for sympathy and excuses.
When was the last time a drug dealer took checks? Me personally never lol.
@@snickers882 🤣 nope
What's sad is Mallory Beach never got justice and neither did her family!!
They got a nice settlement at least
I mean kinda, sadly her death was the final straw on the camels back and everything came tumbling down after that sure the kid never even walked into a jail his mug shot was taken outside the courthouse if it were anything else the merdoughs would’ve swept it under the rug like everything else
MR. TINSLEY I RESPECT YOU SO MUCH. YOUR GOOD CHARACTER IS OBVIOUS. GOD BLESS YOU AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOUR CONTINUED GOOD HEALTH.
No way he took 60 oxycodone a day…..that would kill an elephant
I've worked with addicts who've taken that much in a single day. However, they're incoherent and stumbling over themselves
probably rot your stomach out too
A retired RN here.
The best interview of all I’ve seen related to this case. Thank you to both of you.
Anyone else find it odd that Alex has not once said “I hope they find who really did this” or any other similar sentiment
OJ never said anything like that either
He said anyone who did this has been planning it for a long time!!!
I bet Alex put some of those stolen funds are stashed overseas.
The formidable Mr Tinsley. You are a force for justice.
Mark was and is fabulous. So great on the stand and so well prepared.
Desperate people do desperate things unfortunately but how a family man can blow his sons brains out is beyond comprehension‼️
I agree. I am still not convinced he did it
@Lesdan - He’s psychopath/sociopath. We aren’t wired like him and will never understand him. Read the book The Psychopath Next Door if you can.
He wanted her gone and all her assets for himself , in my opinion.
I love Mark Tinsley's interviews, and testimony. As real as you can get.
My question is: how could this bookkeeper/CEO/office manager, and a lawyer treasurer NOT CATCH THE EMBEZZLEMENT OVER 10 YEARS?
I wondered the same thing, unless everyone was complicit. How do you get past an audit? How do you balance the books? Where was the IRS?
Good question, raises my eyebrows 🤔
Same here.
They all got a piece. They just turned against him when the time came
@@Iamsam-jl5fn I think you’re right!
Alex was a dealer not an addict. Who were his clients? That’s what I want to know.
I haven’t heard much about this side of things, I wish they’d followed up on it.
He killed Maggie because he knew she was going to leave him. That's why the passionate overkill that he performed on her.... Paul was just extra baggage.
Mark Tinsley is a wonderful person and an attorney I think we would all want on our side!
I really struggle to believe NO ONE had an inkling of an idea this guy was stealing. I do believe more arrests should be made. Unpopular opinion
Oh my heavens, many many people were being paid behind closed doors.
This was not a one man circus.
Too many crooks
Popular opinion.
Been saying that from the. beginning. IMO, the whole darn family has some big black stains on their souls. Just my thoughts.
Me.
Maybe Maggie pushed her down.
Maggie was going to leave him ; and Paul was costing him too much !
Yup Maggie would find out everything and Paul was a liability at a tune of 30 mil.
I love you Mark Tinsley!! You were king in the court room….. didn’t back down…”ridiculousness “❤
It’s more likely Alex was the drug smuggler for his besties in sled and beyond.
So true.
AM is a lying, manipulative, self-serving sociopath Just MY opinion. I saw no genuine remorse. It was all an ACT. He's exactly where he belongs - behind bars!
Agreed
@@mary-annkucher4221 He belongs underground - but I get your point and agree.
I’m sure they did since she had hired a forensic accountant to go through their finances after check’s wrote to various charities had bounced. That was how she found out there was financial issues going on, she was contacted by these charities instead of Alex.
When I saw Maggie's sister testify that alex said whoever did this was planning it for a long time, I thought the exact same thing...
THAT'S SO SAD HOW A DAD GETS RID OF HIS OWN FLESHING BLOOD. HIS SON, THATS THE WORST CRIME SOMEONE CAN DO.
Not the first time a parent has taken their own flesh and blood, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the last. It’s beyond me. I’d die for my kids, do anything for them to not be harmed….then there are people like Alex!
BS to the drug addiction!
In amongst all of the flimflam that is the Murdaugh family way, listening to Mark Tinsley on the stand delivering a succinct , direct explanation of very well orchestrated Murdaugh lies. I'm so glad that dear Mallory's family has this clever man on their side.
I really think Alex didn't want to split assets with Maggie if she got a divorce.
Of course not he was greedy
He got rid of the boat case as well as a divorce.
Happy to know they still have great men in this corrupt world..Thank you Mark.Tinsley .
